- Ok there's really no 'right' way but I never really see people get into this kind of thing when talking about playing a ukulele. It's incredibly easy to do will help you musically in any instrument you may pick up. Check out the Ryders here:

A little about me:
Sean Daniel is a man. A man of simple needs and desires. And the one desire, no, the one NEED, that stands above all is to spread the challenges, joy and intellectual stimulus of music to people of Earth and beyond.
Born on the mean streets of upper middle class suburban Chicago, Sean learned the ways of the world through the dizzying heights of success to the lonesome depths of failure and emerged with the promise of a better tomorrow reflecting in his eyes and fiery passion in his belly.
He plays and teaches guitar on his RUclips channel where he regularly releases original music and projects to the adulation of legions of fans, who often compare him to Chris Pratt and one time Ryan Reynolds. He’s currently in the market for a nice leather jacket.

Ukelele is a great and probably the most relaxing of the stringed instruments! Just simple and not really hard to get into, and I think is something every guitarist should give a shot.
Agreed!
@@seandaniel23 Yeah!
I\'m not sure but ,if anyone else wants to learn about easy ukulele lessons try Pycanta Amazing Ukulele Protocol (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my partner got amazing results with it.
Great lesson
George Harrison thought so! 🦋
I love the attitude at the start, so many people get stuck in those same 4 chords and never bother to learn the fretboard and basic music theory. If you're paying attention to this video you'll already be ahead! Good luck everyone.
Thanks so much!
Man I really hope there are other ukulele videos. I can't tell you what a relief it is to watch a tutorial video that doesn't feel incredibly patronizing or commercialized.
i started learning and it blew my mind that most beginner ukulele players start off playing chords and not knowing how to play scales. or what the frets mean, or how the chords relate to any of it. it took me forever just to find out how playing individual notes worked lol
Thank you
Please post more ukulele content. Thanks for the knowledge!
Right on. This one got saved to my Ukulele lessons playlist. Thank you.
I still struggle with the guitar after nearly 45 years so I purchased a Uke about 4 years ago thinking it would be easier. I checked a number of Uke web sites but didn't find any with a similar "short cut". You are really the prince of sharing secrets of guitar & Uke. I love your sense of humor, and your "stretch" is just impressive! Thanks for all the tips.
Thanks so much! I’ll try and do a new uke vid soon!
Sean.....you're the man! Thanks so much for this, flipping glad I found you.
Dude, this is the best ukulele lesson video i have ever seen. thank you for this!!
I love the way you explain the notes and scales. Awesome. I’m learning a lot! Ty😊
More please! Love your humor and style of teaching.
You explained marvelously. Finally I found the channel actually explain it better to understand. So glad I clicked on it . Thanks that helped a lot I love ur channel.
Really love your teaching style Sean
I've been trying to play Ukulele for quite a few years without success. Came across your channel. You have taught me to understand the instrument in a different way. Thank you
wow thank you for upgrading my skills in just 11 minutes! You're awesome. been stressing myself out how to learn scales and so intimidated by it. and plus i have a problem in memorization. so it was a rocky road. thankfully youtube recommended this. Thank you again Sean. New subscriber here =)
Welcome to the party! I'll try doing some more uke vids soon!
Wow.. what a great lesson. Thanks
This instantly made my life more fun, thank you
Thank you for this! Great idea!
This is great. I'm just starting, and it's all technical lessons, which is good if you want to be professional I guess, but the lessons forget we want to have fun - right away. The uke is a "fun" instrument, and I believe many (most?) people "just" want to pick it up and play something. I love your way of thinking, it's more feeling and creativity. Of course it's technical, but this feels different than that, and would help people like me whose brain shuts down memorizing theory. I found this very useful, thank you!
Great lesson - very helpful - thanks!
Been playing guitar a lotta years. I got a uke for my birthday three years ago.
Love it. Play it every day.
I'll pick it up before I play my new telecaster.
Gotta love em!
@@seandaniel23 Yeah, my acoustic guitars are majestic, and bold, my electric guitars are magically mesmerizing.
My little ukulele is humble and joyous.😊
Great tutorial!!!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼thank you ❤️
That was very helpful. Thanks!
Digging the ongoing and growing collection of uke lessons. You’re the zen master of all things music!
Thanks Patrick! More on the way!
Thank you. This is perfect. I was just strumming chords, and needed a little boost to get into actual notes.
Happy to help!
...SO MUCH FUN watching and listening to you...much appreciated your cool and different approached...
Glad you liked it!
Thanks Mate. Nice work✌️
I like to think it as starting from the 5 th fret of the guitar , it makes it so much easier to see shapes !
Some great insights there. Also enjoying your Udemy courses which are truly inspirational and have really motivated me to progress on guitar.
Ukelele is key to my acoustic death metal forest music. Cheers Sean!
as is mine!
So helpful! I want to take lessons from you!
Wow just wow thanks for this lesson
This video alone got a subscription 😮😅 I just started learning uke after missing my cello for a while (gave it to my niece to learn) and I naturally started working scales on strings to learn notes to hopefully play chords better but noticed no videos taught it.....until now. Thank you.
Hey Sean, do you have a video teaching how to play the uke part in Over the Rainbow by IZ?
Sean Daniel, I am most grateful you shared this teaching . . . I am not proficient yet . . . but practice makes progress.
I am also teaching our six year old Granddaughter.
I play Piano, Guitar, Uke . . . and play Ocarina & C Penny by ear, praise the LORD.
I bless you in the holy name of JESUS for impacting so many with clever, practical and beneficial instruction.
Agape, Rebekaj
Thanks so much for saying so!
Thank you, thank you, thank you Sean. I follow your guitar tutorials (genius)
But, ukulele is my best friend. I've been using this instruction. I'm having a good time with it! It adds a bit of flavor. Thanks for the spice!😎
We have a mutual best friend :)
@@sydneychristine2464 nice voice Sydney, 'If I Ain't Got You'. Where's your ukulele?🦋
Love this brilliant teacher 💕👏
Thanks so much for saying so!
@@seandaniel23 I already am hooked 🤣
You explain it really well. Dyspraxic here and I understood!
Helpful, just found your channel. Need more uke videos please 😆
Love it. Great lesson to begin with. Thanks.
Happy to help!
Hahaha love your style of teaching ukulele !, having fun 😂learning 😅thank you
Love this, thank you! I will never impress anyone with my big stretch, though. I have normal size hands for a woman, but a small grip-0 on a tennis racket-so I'm making up workarounds for some chords and just skipping others. Again, thank you for this. I will look out for more from you!
Wow, I got a ukulele as my first instrument a little over a year ago, I wish I had this video then
Same here 🤚🏼
This the most informative and lol funny I have ever seen. Thanks to much making it interesting and amusing.
Very clever. Thank you. I will teach to my student.
Thanks for the introduction to the ukelele🎸🇺🇲
HAHA! “get that big stretch going on and wait for someone to notice.. no big deal.” I laughed out loud
What reference did he make it sounds very familiar
🙃
Ukulele lessons playlist - I like It.
I enjoyed your lesson sir. 😀🙏
Caught my attention! I dig it.😎
Well that scalated quickly.
Awesome Teacher!!!
I love my uke... Also love your videos and sense of humor!
Thanks Dave!
Superb Sean, I'm getting a Uke!
Great information!
Thanks Ivan!
~Thank you Sean love my uku
Go Giants! Thank you, good info.
Hey Sean! Good lesson
Thanks Geno!
Co-worker gave me an old Oscar Schmidt OU-2 last week. Said, "Could never get it to play." Maybe because the bridge had come un-glued and was attached with a single screw in the middle. Or, because the strings were wrapped under the bridge and laying on the uke. Well after a stripping and re-surfacing the soundboard, I put on a new bringe with bone nut & saddle and a set of nylgut strings. Just a little music theory for uke was what I needed and got it in a "short cut." Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Impressing the ladies with your reach on your ukulele. Seems legit...
Awesome
You earned a sub my friend 🤘
I love your video. My students who have divergent learning can’t keep up. Please slow down. This the the best way to help them learn scales. Or break it into smaller chunks. They think you are super handsome. ☺️
I just found your Uke videos, how long have you been teaching UKe and who taught you? Because I left a comment on one of your videos because I've always known you as a guitar teacher
Just retired and got my first ukulele, im going to be that big bearded guy that plays the ukulele, i think it's going to be a great new hobby, thanks for the great video 👍🇺🇸.
How did it go?
@@Athena-hq4cp great so far
I played saxophone for 6 years, I could smash the chromatic scale so hard, but I was still last chair because nobody explained why scales needed to be practiced, memorized, drilled in your head. (Still trying to figure it out myself but getting slightly better)
I hear you! WE uke players get a lot of flack ..but you know.. life is so complicated..why not make it simple!! I play my scales.. on my uke.. Major, Minor and Blues and I am learning the Eyphigian scales. Did I spell that right? Oh well.. I am also learning more about intervals and mixing them with my scales.. and then there's you.. tricks here and there. Does n't seem like there's much time to learn it all. Anyone can strum a uke.. but to master it.. that's different my friend. I hope your a master! Thank you for your love.
More use videos please!
I’m getting a uke bc going from wind to strings is a really harsh transition. I think that uke is a great way to familarize myself with how to work strings.
Wow, thanks for tricking me into learning scales skills! ❤️
Gonna have a ukulele music theory video coming soon!
@@seandaniel23 Awesome! Thank, Sean. I look forward to that video.
What brand is your ukulele?
We all learned that the ladies love a guy with a long ukulele reach. It was truly a magical time.
Figuring out that the fretboard just follows the notes like going through a piano was the biggest "ah ha" moment I've had in music so far. To the extent that when i do the "spider" practice thing i usually say "A, A#, B, C" on and on.
Is it diatonic minor scale?
I got a free Uke with a new guitar once. Didn't much care for it. I like mandolin much better, I even played it on a couple tunes with the band ~40 years ago. Haven't picked it up in a long time though. A local shop has the 'Eastman' brand, and I was looking at new F4 and F5' types. Got any tips for an old 'rookie' mando player? Thanks Sean, appreciate you! --gary
Honestly I'm not much of a mandolin player :)
@@seandaniel23 Might be fun to go get one and we'll figure it out 8) If I remember right it's just the bottom, er top, er from your chin the next 4 down on a guitar tuned in parallel. LOL 8) --gary
Thank you for this. I've got good chord knowledge from learning piano, but tips like this really help free my ear for nice sounding variations to embellish my basic uke playing.
Can you translate more of your arpeggio work to the uke please? I've just watched some of the guitar videos and I think they'd translate well.
Both linear and re-entry tuning is around, which only affects the octave, but is worth mentioning?
Anyone who plays the ukulele with a pick is not to be taken seriously
Agreed 😂
Ye
It prolly means that he used to play guitar
Great! love it! this is helping me to understand the mysterious fretboard and where and how to find those other inversions of C chords or G chords etc. Thanks!!
My friend sitting right here knows nothing about music, but likes this vid & thinks you are a good teacher.
Your friend has great taste.
I don't care if I'm being tricked to doing a scale i just want to play something
HALP!! I need a good teaching video on how to play "It Must Have Been Love" by Roxette - I need a sexy slow ballad style rather than some silly strumming country sounding version!
I would like to see Sean plug into his pedal board and see what can make come out.
I love what you put out I showed you to my girlfriends mom that’s a compliment btw
You are brilliant - but tell me you were't a bit tipsy in this one! If that's not rude.. thanks Sean for the inspiration
And there goes the master, playing ukulele with a guitar pick.
Like a true G!
What size uke is that?
I appreciate the help, I do have a 9 year old girl to keep up with ! :)
Wow I’m only ten and this helps soooo much!
Everyone should try ukulele Zen with Stuart Fuchs. You'll be much better served
nice idol
uke is the last three letters of luke, which is an
anagram of kule ,,KULE AND LUKE 😂🤣👍
awesome lessn paul, !paul knew man👌
Sheet. I get you even with arthritis might give it a go
I regret getting a guitar since it was very hard and I should have started ukulele. I still have my guitar but don’t play with it anymore it just I was interested in it but didn’t have a passion for it. That the problem with me I don’t have a lot of interest in things.
Clear as mud.
So when you strike the manly stretch pose, you are surreptitiously watching the "passersby" for their admiring glances?
Correct.
"It may be good for a sobriety test." LMFAO!!!
Yeah, you must be properly drunk to pass.
my son has a ukelele and he is playing pretty good
Tell him to keep it up!
What a out a baritone uk?
Different tuning, but same principle.
The greatest thing about the ukulele is the filter it gives you. If you meet someone who insists on calling it oo-ka-leh-leh then you can guarantee that you have met a someone to avoid. If you don't it will only be a matter of days before they ask you over for fondue and within a month you'll go to their house and clang!! keys in a bowl.
Good advice.
Tell that to this guy:
