I worked in Waikiki in the mid 80's, when IZ would walk through the International Market Place on his way to work at the Hafbrau, a German restaurant under Farrells Ice Cream shop. Each time I saw him walk by I greeted him with a big smile, thinking how wonderful to have the real thing come to Waikiki, and thought, do these people around here realize what an honor it is to be in his presence. One day when I wasn't busy he stopped to talk (joke and laugh) with me and we became friends. We recognized each other as having Jesus in our hearts. One day on my break I went to see him at his work place. We chatted with the bar keep and then it was time for IZ to start his 1st set. As soon as he began to sing my jaw dropped! OH MY GOD! @@rammpantera Don't know the answer to that from a personal standpoint, but...singing is based on the breathing and breath control that vibrates your vocal cords. To sing that well while on oxygen is simply amazing
TRUTH!
how is it, to be on oxygen while singing?
@@rammpantera Don't know the answer to that from a personal standpoint, but...singing is based on the breathing and breath control that vibrates your vocal cords. My little brother is on oxygen because he does not have enough to breath well on his own. I cannot imagine how Iz continued to get the vocal quality he did while operating at a reduced rate. I listen to the pauses he and others take while talking and am astounded that he could keep going the way he did. Don't know if that helps or if it was just a rhetorical question, but have a great day or night either way.
I guess I haven't seen a lot of video of him performing. How long did he perform with oxygen? Unbelievable!
Not amazing
Izzy you are so loved by so many of us, you gave so much of yourself for the great people of Hawaii and the world 🌈Your music is here for all time. It will continue to gives us joy listening to you and your music.

Love your message John Edward Jones! I only had the blessing of just over two years, but Hawai'ian music and Hawai'iana became part of my soul.
