Hi Bob, The HF G50 has Looks and Custom Picture settings that will allow you to select and create specific appearances for your video. These can be saved as pre-sets and applied to your recordings. These are not the exact same Cinema - Look filters that were options on the HF G20. We hope this helps.
Hi, Amurthur! The VIXIA HF G50 doesn't have a recording time limit. As long as the camera has power and there's room on your memory card, you can keep right on going. Total recording time will depend on your memory card's available space. Hope this helps!
How helpful... trying to show off the video capabilities of a 4K camera by posting a 1080p video file to RUclips. It's like trying to show someone how bright the sun is by drawing them a picture.
Hi Rob: The camcorder outputs video and audio from the HDMI port. You will want to check with the manufacturer of your monitor for compatibility of specific makes and models. Hi Amurthur: The camcorder will accept external audio via the 3.5mm MIC jack. This can be connected to the receiver unit on a wireless setup. You will want to check with the manufacturer of your wireless mic set for final compatibility information. We hope this helps.

Hi, Joe! The touch screen feature works even when the screen is facing forward and it will also show the red dot on the screen when you're recording. Hope this helps!
Hello! The VIXIA HF G50 is great for recording those important moments, vlogging and making presentations. However, if you are looking for something more for professional use, you may consider a model in our XA-Series or XF-Series, such as the XA15 or the XF405. We hope this helps!
@@CanonUSA hi sir i bought vixiahfg50 on December 2019. But past week 03/2020 it doesn't work it's zoom button and also it shows blur in screen when i try to take video.so please help me to fix. Thank you.
So, except for maximum zoom, is it better than the GX10 (at twice the price)? The Canon comparison page isn't clear about the difference (except the GX10's 15x optical and 30x digital zoom).
The GX10 is far superior. The sensor is twice bigger than G50, that would give you more detail in your image and better low light performance. The GX10 can record 4K 60fps and 1080 120fps (for slow motion) If you ask me the 4k quality showed by the G50 is pretty bad. I hope they upload more videos because I was very hyped about 4k in the G series. Cheers
Hello there! Between the two, the VIXIA GX10 is the more advanced model. While the zoom range is smaller by 5x, it does have a larger screen, Wi-Fi connectivity, a 9-bladed aperture, Dual-Pixel CMOS AF and more. However, the VIXIA HF G50 brings a lot to the table at its price point, so it is worth definitely worth considering. We hope this helps!

Same. I love Canon cameras. But. I bought the HF G21 and returned it because there's was a slight ghosting issue. The image was pretty good. But the ghosting issue I couldn't stand.
Hi Les, Our XA series camcorders, such as the XA50/55 are specifically designed with Input terminals to accept professional, line-in audio sources such as sound boards. Inputs that you would use with HF G50 would have to use the 3.5mm stereo min plug. Our camcorder support agents would be happy to discuss this with you in detail. For support, please register your product to under your Canon Account at the link: Canon.us/mcahy. Once you log into your account, click the [Service & Support] link and select the support method. Looking forward to this camera. I hope they fixed the zoom rocker issue. I had three of the previous models (1 G30 and 2 G40's) that all started zooming out on their own. They wanted $400 each to repair.
Is this 422 10bit 30p 4k out HDMI or is it 422 10bit 30p 4k downsampled to 1080p 30p. I own g30 hooked at atomos ninja 2. My ninja 2 can capture 10bit. And one more question. Can you force output to send 1080p thru HDMI out so I don't have to upgrade my atomos.
Hello: The Vixia HF G50 will record UHD 3840x2160 at either 29.97P or 23.98P, to the memory card. When outputting video, while recording, through the HDMI, the maximum resolution is 1920 x 1080. You can view the output options for the camcorder on page 90 of the instruction manual. Here is a shortcut to the manual: Canon.us/c8gp6. You can output UHD 3840 x 2160, 8-bit from the HDMI during video Playback. We hope this is helpful.
Cool so 4k live record = 8bit 422 1080p out for option to backup on atomos recorder. The option I like is recording internal 1080p 24 30 or 60 will output 24 30 and 60p in 422 10bit! That's even better Canon c100. And everyone knows a 4k to 1080p sample which this camcorder does results in a way cleaner sharper 1080p recording as this camcorder uses the full 4 k sensor like c100 to capture or downsample into a 1080p space. I might upgrade.....
No 60 fps @ 4K, not even 120 fps @ 1080p - big fail. I am a Canon user, but looking at the Sony A6400 for 120 @1080p. 4K @30, and is cheaper than this new camera.

Really Canon? Are you still trying to explain the difference between 4K and HD? Even if the camcorders are not all that advanced, hire better scriptwriters. IS does not see good enough. And better images could have been used in this pitch.
So it's literally G30 with new 4K sensor, with time lapse function added, and all else the same? Then I see no reason to ditch my good old G30 then. (1080i is still the broadcast standard in my country,go figure...)
Slow motion in 4k not possible, thats a minor thing on the camcorder, slow motion only in full HD mode, 4k only in 25.00p why not a choice 25.00p or 50.00p, may be possible by an update ??
Hi Ben! This model does not have "night vision" or an "infrared" mode. You must have some light to record visible images. The camera has several Shooting Modes that will improve image quality in certain low light conditions, but this is not the same as "night vision." Some of our other camcorders, like the XA15, do have an Infrared Shooting Mode for extreme low-light conditions that have little to no ambient light.. You can contact our sales team for information on all models with this feature. The are available at 800-385-2155; Monday-Saturday* 9:00AM EST - 9:00PM EST *Excludes Holidays. We hope this helps.
*Why many camcorders record videos by decimal frame rates, 23.98, 29.97, or 59.98 fps? Most smartphones record videos & video cameras by integer frame rates 30, 60, 120 fps. I prefer integer frame rates over decimal frames rates for video editing on computers for better quality with no flickers.* I compare decimal frame rates like interlaced videos and integer frame rates like progressive videos.
Hi there. The 23.98, 29.97, and 59.98 frame rates are standards that have stuck around in video production from a time when color television broadcasting was beginning. The slight, unnoticeable difference was introduced to help with the transmission of color information. We hope this helps!

Hey guys. Probably going to pick this one up, but now I'm interested in the new g60 that was introduced today for around $500 more. Couple of questions. Are they physically the same size camera..AFA dimensions? Are they both 1” sensors? Both Divic 6? Thanks!
Hi Lance! The new VIXIA HF G60 is actually a little bit larger than the VIXIA HF G50 as far as dimensions are concerned. It also has the larger 1-inch CMOS sensor, whereas the HF G50 has a 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor. Both do have the DIGIC DV6 though. We hope this information helps!

This was my favorite camera that I used back when I worked in television. Was a pretty good device, especially the 4K option.

Here is a shortcut to the manual: Canon.us/c8gp6
We hope this helps.

Is this available to Malaysia.
Hi! We do not have information available for Malaysia's market. We recommend visiting global.canon and select your country or region for your support needs.
We hope this helps!
How wide is the lens?
Hi! The VIXIA HF G50 uses a lens assembly that's 58mm in diameter based on its filter diameter measurement. We hope this helps!
CanonUSA would I be able to vlog with it?
Really Canon? Are you still trying to explain the difference between 4K and HD? Even if the camcorders are not all that advanced, hire better scriptwriters. IS does not see good enough. And better images could have been used in this pitch.
Too big camcorder 😑😑 why you dont put the video feature to the Eos R?
So it's literally G30 with new 4K sensor, with time lapse function added, and all else the same? Then I see no reason to ditch my good old G30 then.
(1080i is still the broadcast standard in my country,go figure...)
Cost how much?
Hi there! For current pricing and availability, head over to Canon.us/ja4gj We hope this helps!
About $1000. It’s on their web.
Slow motion in 4k not possible, thats a minor thing on the camcorder, slow motion only in full HD mode, 4k only in 25.00p why not a choice 25.00p or 50.00p, may be possible by an update ??
As far as I can see this 2019 G50 has about the same features as the 2016 Sony AX53, which is quite popular.
Im quitting Canon for Sony
The 1/2.3-inch Sensor is the smallest and 1080p only 60p is nogo for 2019 and not for 1100 $ 🙄🙄
They should have just made a cheaper version of the GX10.
Does it have night vision?
Hi Ben!
This model does not have "night vision" or an "infrared" mode. You must have some light to record visible images. The camera has several Shooting Modes that will improve image quality in certain low light conditions, but this is not the same as "night vision."
Some of our other camcorders, like the XA15, do have an Infrared Shooting Mode for extreme low-light conditions that have little to no ambient light..
You can contact our sales team for information on all models with this feature. The are available at 800-385-2155; Monday-Saturday* 9:00AM EST - 9:00PM EST *Excludes Holidays.
We hope this helps.
@@CanonUSA yeah it did, thanks.
Canon thinks we're stupid 😂😂
@@CanonUSA Thank you.
Could U upload videos to your iPhone over WiFi
Hi, Cesar! The VIXIA HF G50 is designed to communicate with computers via a USB cable. Hope that helps!
Anyone here use macos Catalina for uploading videos from the SD cards captured with this camera? If so any issues?
Hi! If you've got any questions regarding how to upload the videos from your VIXIA HF G50, our US-based support squad will be happy to help. Give them a call weekdays at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666).
Hope to help you soon!
@@CanonUSA Thanks. When's release date?
@@lanceg6828 The VIXIA HF G60 is scheduled to be available sometime in June 2019.
I have the sony pxw z190 4k 60fps
How is the very slow zoom speed, and auto focus please? .. I'm interested in that exact camera. Thanks, J.S.
No slow motion at 4K or 1080p
Hello:
The 0.5X slow motion can be recorded at 1080P. For information on this and the other slow motion frame rates, please refer to page 36 of the camcorder instruction manual. Here is a shortcut to the manual: Canon.us/c8gp6.
We hope this is helpful.
Who even need those anymore?
@Der Hof 2007 Actually i was thinking of dslrs but what is mindless about phones?
@Der Hof 2007 maybe you are just old?
@Der Hof 2007 Well thats an opinion :)
@Der Hof 2007 I watched it because it show up on my suggestion and I didn't have anything better to do I guess. :)
I do film mostly with phones now days but i played with several camcorders, DSLRs and so on.
Right now i own Sony a6300, Canon 500N SLR, Polaroid 600 and several other toys...
I am not making money on anything i do with that stuff so that's why I call them toys! :)
@Der Hof 2007 They are just tools or toys in my case. :) No hard feelings!
Is it WiFi enabled for love Facebook streaming?
Hi there! The VIXIA HF G50 does not have built-in Wi-Fi and does not support direct streaming to Facebook. We hope this answers your question!
F thosr camcorders get some good dlsr or mirrless. My school has 18.000 members, we use to have 500 members on the film part all using canon cameras and lenses, now we are all switching to sony a7iii
This would be a great camera for $299US.
Is video a joke to you? Are your customer a joke to you? I'm happy to say just sold my 5diii with most of the lenses and got myself a Sony A7iii
rolling shutter....
Would a 4k camera be just as good
what a rip off this camera for the price and year. X53 from sony is much better and older, and cheaper. oh! and has wiifii, video output in 1080p(not1080i like this canon), and lowspeed shooting up to 120p. Are we in 2019 or not?
1080i ahahahah
