    My interest is wildlife filming. I chose the G50 because it has a more powerful zoom than the G60. I can get closer to the action from further away with the G50.
    I think it's worth viewer's being aware that the G50 also has some more powerful features than the G60 when making decisions. It may be of interest for some users.
    Thanks for a great video.

      It is very important to me that they understand the autofocus is not what you would expect form other Canon cameras. While the extended zoom range is a plus for the G50, I found with the focus-hunting it presented made the extended zoom not a useful as one might imagine. Using manual focus and having it in a tripod using Dynamic IS might be what is required, but I was unwilling to do those tests as the focus-hunting this price point made the camera seem very overpriced to me. Which is the main reason I sold it months ago. Thank you very much for your detailed explanation and for taking the time to watch and share.

    Hey Brian, thank you for such a detailed review! I am looking to purchase a stabilizer rig and see someone had mentioned the Ziyhun crane 3S for the G60. Most of the the cranes seem designed for DSLR’s and mirrorless cameras, not camcorders like the vixia series. I know the Ziyhun can handle up to 14 lbs which is way more weight than the vixia camera. But is it able to balance a camcorder? Thank you!

      I use a Crane 3S for the G60 and a Crane for the G50. Here is a video of the G60 with the Zhiyun Crane 3S:

    Hi Brian. Good to see you, I didn't recognize you at first when I stopped on this vid but I recognized your voice right away, I use to write you a few years ago and pick your brain about the Soundcraft that we both have in common. It's been a while. Now I am thinking about getting a G60. I have one primary question. Do all the low light functions that I hear about this camera work as well and look as good in HiDef as the do in 4K. Or do you really need to be shooting in 4K to get good results?
    I guess that I would be curious if that is the same thing when it comes to speed variation and slow motion. Any insight would be most appreciated.

      Hello Lazlo! I hope you are dong well, my friend. The low light in these 1” sensor camcorders are definitely “as advertised”. I can run some tests for you if you would like to see some examples. Just let me know! Talk to you soon!!!

    Ah, I see you finally got the G60! You probably don't remember me but commented on a Sony vs G50 video you made a while back asking which to go with and you said if I could swing it to go with the G60. Since that day(which was around 6 months ago)I've checked the pricing for it on 3 different sites and it hasn't gone down a dollar lol. Do they not normally have sales on the G60? I don't mind waiting a little more if so, but if they don't I might as well just go ahead and finally buy it. Thanks for all the great videos by the way. Has really helped me a lot. Love those shots you took of the woman riding the horse as well.

      My pleasure, linop412. I’m glad you have found value in my videos. I eventually went with Crutchfield to get the Canon VIXIA HF G60. I used their Sony credit card that I applied for at the time of purchase. I’m not sure if that might be an option for you, but it kept me from having to shell out $1,700.00 all at once.

    Hi, Great informative video. I have seen the G50 but not the G60. I was wondering how much larger the G60 is in comparison. I want a great 1" sensor camera but do not want to carry around a large heavy brick.

    • @BrianBuckalew
      @BrianBuckalew  2 года назад +2

      Hello, Barry - and thank you very much. They actually are very close in size and weight. They also take the same battery. While the G50 definitely feels better in your hands, the G60 is not anywhere near uncomfortable for a camcorder. As a matter of fact, both the G50 and G60 are very well designed in regards to how they fit into your hand(s). I would add that I like the little added weight of the G60 as it makes it a little more stable while doing handheld shots. Neither camera is awkward to carry.

    Do you know how it would compare with the G70?

    Thanks for all the detailed info on these cameras. Because of you, I went with the G60.
    I was wondering, can you recommend a grip, something like you have there in this video that would fit the G60 with a shotgun directional mic and a decent sized led on board light?

    • @BrianBuckalew
      @BrianBuckalew  2 года назад

      Congrats holly73. You made a very wise decision and a great purchase. I presently own a Zhiyun Crane 3S gimbal and it is perfect for the Canon VIXIA HF G60. It is on the expensive side, but is actually a great value for what it offers when compared to other gimbals with some of the same features. It can handle everything you want to throw on it as it has a max payload of 14.3 lbs.

      Yes, I have been watching more of your stuff and that is definitely in the budget down the road. Really, it's a must depending on the project.
      I have also been watching vids of people combining it with body harness gear and using it for bigger heavier setups .... it's quite impressive.

      In the end you want to have a rig that suits the work you intend to do the most. For me, the gimbal was the right tool for the job, especially since my Zhiyun Crane was not able to handle the G60 (it was fine with the G50 on it).

      @@BrianBuckalew hey Brian, great review as always! I’m looking to get a stabilizer and see you recommended the Zihyun crane 3S. Can it handle a Canon G60? Seems as though the stabilizer cranes are designed for DSLR’s and mirrorless rather than camcorders like the vixia series. You had mentioned it can handle the G60 in your first reply, then said it can handle the G50, not the G60? Any recommendations would be great! Thank you. Larry

      The Zhiyun Crane can handle the G50 and not the G60. The Zhiyun Crane 3S can handle the G60.

    Interesting that you chose the G60 instead of the AX700 when you upgraded from the AX53.

    • @BrianBuckalew
      @BrianBuckalew  2 года назад +4

      To be completely honest, I have always been more fond of Canon. I have a Sony HDR-FX7 and that kind of brought me to the FDR-AX53. I knew I wanted to stay 4k, and the Canon line of products always were easy for me to wrap my head around. I own a Canon EOS M50, and I originally had a Canon EOS Rebel T5 (my first DSLR), so I felt comfortable with their product line. Sony was more or less a brand I fell into. And I say this to take nothing away from Sony cameras or the AX700, as I am sure it is a wonderful camcorder. So, I guess in short I am a Canon fanboy lol. Larry, thanks for watching and leaving your point about the AX700. Wishing you all the best this holiday season.

    Whats the difference in the battery life between the g50 and g60?

    • @BrianBuckalew
      @BrianBuckalew  2 года назад

      They have approximately the same battery consumption. I hate to do this to you - I am not sure of the exact video - but if you go on my channel and look at the G60 playlist I have a video where I discuss the battery life between these two cameras in real time while I am shooting outdoor footage.

    I assume the G60 is to big to mount inside that stabilizing carry handle??

    • @BrianBuckalew

      It fits into the Zeadio handheld stabilizer quite well. It also is a perfect fit for the Zhiyun Crane 3S.
