    Thank you, great info. Appreciate you replying to most comments asking questions as I found these comments just as helpful as the video and changed my mind several times. Have decided on the Panasonic DVX200 even though I was worried about the age of this camera and it was out of my price range. The sensor size has got me so I'm going to look out for a good priced new or secondhand demo model. Ill be using for documentaries and occasional weddings.

      If you don't need 120 fps recording at 1080p, get the AX100. These models are largely identical outside of the slow motion frame rates and capabilities. So it's a better deal if you don't need super slow motion video.

      Yes consider camcorders again. We film periodically with the Sony NX80, and it's a joy to use compared to using standard mirrorless camera's. Everything's just nice and convenient for filming, which makes the process of capturing great footage that much easier. We will eventually be transition over to the DVX200 ourselves for our channel.

      It's impressive on paper. But here's what you don't see on the spec sheets: horrid highlight roll-off, muddy colors and choppy AF. The DOF advantage of micro 4/3 over 1" is negligible. The IQ, color science and AF capabilities of the Canon XF705 (which didn't even make the list, for some reason) is far superior.

      Hi considering you want something easy to use, fast, and good in low light your best bet would be the NX-80. It delivers the fast autofocusing performance of the group and the automatic mode is great, though slightly behind the XA50. I wouldn't recommend the X2000 for this kind of application, as you'll be pulling focusing manually more often than not on that camera.

    I am trying to decide between Canon Vixia HF G60 and the Sony AX700. Sure enough they were #10 and #9, so very close. Subjects are people indoor and outdoor from close up to 20 feet away, mostly for music videos. These both seem so close, so hard to choose. They are even almost the same price.

    • @PhotographyPX
      @PhotographyPX  3 года назад +3

      Hi Leo, I can see why this would be a confusing choice. These are basically the same cameras, just as different variants marked as "Sony" or "Canon". But, from a technical standpoint, they're basically identical. The only real differences here to consider are the autofocusing systems, where the G60 uses Canon's Dual Pixel AF and the Sony their Fast Hybrid AF. Canon's AF system provides more tenacious, smooth and cinematic focusing by default. The Sony is more responsive and quick. Both have their advantages. The other consideration is the slow motion capabilities. If you want high quality slow motion video, the Sony is the better option. It offers better data rates (meaning less compression, and more detail) and high frame rates. Otherwise, choose whichever camera aesthetically fits you the most.

      Well yes, they would all give you enough room for color grading. I'd say look into the Sony Z-150 or the Z-90. Both of these cameras a solid all-rounders.

  • @flavioformigonipiano2799
    @flavioformigonipiano2799 3 года назад +1

    What’s the difference between the dvx200 and the cx350? Which is more higher end?

    • @PhotographyPX
      @PhotographyPX  3 года назад +1

      Hi Flavio the main differences are: the DVX200 has a large Micro Four Thirds sized sensor. But the CX350 has a larger zoom range at 20x, it also has new H.265 codec (which produces higher quality videos than standard H.264 at similar resolutions and frame rates) and it also shoots 10-bit 4:2:2 video internally (which will give you more room for color grading). These are the main differences that stand out immediately.
      So for the most part the DVX200 will be better in low light. But the XC350 makes up for it with a better zoom, and better recording abilities. So with enough light, it will likely outdo the DVX.

On the other hand, for the size of sensor (1"), and the fact that they have a single integrated zoom lens, they are absolutely outstanding. This depends on your preference for camera style. The black magic pocket line is very much styled like a DSLR. Camcorder's have a very different form factor. From a quality and feature stand point, both are the same. But, their form factors are totally different. Use that as a deciding factor.

      Hi for this type of medium, you want a camera that has a long zoom range and effective focal length. But a camera that can ACTUALLY focus when zoomed all the way in (not all of these cameras focus that great at 350mm). So I would suggest the Panasonic UX180 or the UX90, depending if you need the extra audio ports of the UX180 or not. I think those are your best option.

    • @PhotographyPX

      Understanable. I would get the Panasonic DVX200, specifically for it's larger Micro Four Thirds Sensor. All of the other camcorders are capable in many ways, but that larger sensor makes a significant difference in the real world if you shoot in low light. Otherwise, if that's not a huge concern the Sony NX80 is perfect. It's a powerful camera for this price.

      The UX180 isn't great in low light. I wouldn't suggest this camera unless you plan on added a lot of light to the scene. Panasonic AG-DVX200 gives very beautiful images. But it has 2 big negative points. The weight, 3.1 kg, the tripod is required. And its unreliable autofocus. I recommend for those who want to stay in Panasonic the HC-X2000 model weighing 1.5 kg with better focus or the HC-X1500E model for a weight of 1.2 kg.
    Currently, I trust Sony for reliable autofocus.

    • @PhotographyPX
      @PhotographyPX  4 года назад

      I feel you. 4K 60p is a rather new addition to most consumer cinema cameras. And it was something reserved for the flagship cinema cameras triple the price, until the last few years. Most camera's today still lack the feature, and if they do they're usually expensive. It's quite demanding from a processing standpoint, and processors are finally getting to the point of handling this amount of data at 300 MB/s codecs. For the time being, If you want 60p recording, it's going to be super expensive. Somewhere around 2.5K- 3K.

    • @PhotographyPX
      @PhotographyPX  3 года назад +2

      Yeah the sensor sizes are a weakness for sure. But considering the price point for most of these cameras and their capabilities, getting an equivalent mirrorless or DSLR setup with the same lens would cost 2-3x more. For what it's worth, these cameras are way more convenient and affordable than their larger censored counterparts. The lenses are all fairly sharp, and they have excellent video-centric capabilities.

    • @2gunzfilms425
      @2gunzfilms425 3 года назад +1

      Photography PX it all depends on the cameras we are comparing honestly. For example for the same price of the Canon Xc15 you can buy a fully kitted out Blackmagic Pocket4k with SSD, atomos shinobi and a v mount battery, and have a more capable setup. Or a used C100 mk1...both with far superior sensors and low light. The cost to value ratio just hasn’t caught up to DSLRs and Cinema cameras yet for some reason i just don’t understand. It’s like they’ve abandoned the market.

    • @PhotographyPX
      @PhotographyPX  3 года назад +1

      Yeah that's true. I suppose at that point it all comes down to form factor. But, yeah this segment of the market is quite niche. But, camcorder are absolutely still used, particular for ENG and run & gun work. They're standards for most broadcast application currently filmed today.

    The still and video photography quality available on most phones today is actually more than 'good enough" for our needs.
    Are dedicated 4k Camcorders not just made for "tech toy nerds"?? Do we need 75% of the "innovations" available in a 2022 4k camcorder??? Really??? Just for a slightly more powerful lens? Still a "cheap quality lens" compared to a lens found on a camcorder where the lens can be interchanged. Do most of us even NEED that capability?
