    I've been using the FS700 since it was new. It is still my main camera all these years later and with an external recorder, the picture is still pretty awesome. This review is spot on pointing out the weight and the noise issues. Weight is a struggle but with the right exposure, the noise is pretty easy to mitigate. Alistair Chapman did a streaming episode with ProAVTV a few months back about the FS7m2 and he pointed out that every camera purchase is a business decision. I have a full calendar of bookings for filming and a list of happy clients so when I consider upgrading an FS7, FS5 or even the FX9 I have a hard time justifying the expense. I would love an FX9...I've watched the Philip Bloom movie TWICE but at $12,000 (after batteries, cards etc) I can't pull the trigger when the need just isn't there.....yet.

I also am running the Shogun 7 with this camera and recording ProRes 422 in 4K. I have also done recording with ProRes RAW as well, and the detail is insane. I have noticed once you jump into ProRes RAW you do encounter much noise if you do not have enough light hitting the sensor. A fast lens, with a speed booster should help in that regard, but something to be mindful of for anyone looking to test that out for themselves.

Love the image quality of them and you kind of figure out how to get around the ergonimics. I like the boxy feel with the top screen when going handheld personally. The C300MK3 I can really see a difference in the dynamic range and the skin tones and colours are just wonderful. The image is close the what I've got out of an Alexa Mini. One other thing I absolutely love is the autofocus. I can honestly say I'll never go back to filming without AF. I can shoot interviews at F1.4 and know it will all be pin sharp. This was a great video however I feel you missed a great opportunity by not comparing it to the BMPCC 4K as they are similarly priced.

    • @ereceeme
      @ereceeme 3 года назад

      The p4k is great but its a cinema camera no great but not the same. I have both. Its greatest problem in evf you can't see the screen under the sun.

    • @brakmaster
      @brakmaster 3 года назад

      @@ereceeme I wanted to see sony raw vs bm raw how well they stack up against each other. The main focus of Caleb's video was the raw video output. The evf I could care less about but thanks for your feedback.

      brakmaster I can tell you this: The BMPCC lacks 4k 120 and 2k 240 but is better noise wise. Also the bmraw options allow for smaller file sizes.

    The Canon C100's nemesis.

    • @SoundSpeeding
      @SoundSpeeding 3 года назад

      Kinda, but not really.
      Sony had their FS100 vs the C100. (and Panasonic the AF100)
      While Sony with their FS700 was competing against the C300 (the original mk1).
      The FS700 internal codec wasn't as good as the C300, wasn't as ergonomically designed as the C300, and the FS700 lacked a few other things like no TC.
      But the FS700 trashed the C300 when it came to external recording and slow motion. (the C300 couldn't even do 1080 60fps! While the FS700 could do upscaled 960fps internally!!! :-o )

    Excellent review. Here in Brazil it is a very underrated camera. Mine doesn't change for anything, I use it exclusively in corporate jobs and some coverage of low light events. Despite the difficulty of handling, I preferred to adapt to it than to be like a madman wanting to buy each new camera model that the brands launch every month. If you have patience with it, you get great results. Still, I love the camera. With Atomos then, it’s not even mentioned, when I used it the first time I was impressed. If you keep an eye on maintaining the exposure in the right way, the noise does not interfere so much in my opinion. Congratulations on the channel.

    This has been our main camera until past year, in which we got a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Cámera 6K. But we are still in love with this one. Great machine, great image, good to work handheld and with the only problem that 4K wasn't able internally and you needed a big recorder like the Atomos Shogun Inferno, which eat batteries like I eat burgers.
