  • Hello my friends, in today's video we cover the best 4k camcorders in today's market. We've went ahead and re-evaluted the current options, and are releasing this updated video with some new models. Note, you'll notice that a lot of the cameras are quite similar. So, the best option really comes down to whether you want live streaming, IP support, the 5.8 GHz Wi-Fi band, strong autofocusing and the XLR handle. Otherwise, you can get pretty far with some of the more basic models. We also have a podcast, if you'd rather hear the audio alone. Below is the link for that.

    I don’t understand why most of these dedicated camcorders after all these years don’t shoot 60 fps UHD most smartphones do.

    Very good. Well done. I'm surprised that no company has put out a new modern camcorder. Most of these with the expectation of 1 are many years old. To bad I have been looking so hard for a modern up to date super camcorder. Also I was a little annoyed that you did not mention color space and color bit rate for many of the cams. That's is key needed info you left out. Either way bravo

    • @PhotographyPX
      @PhotographyPX  2 года назад +2

      Hi the Color Space and Bit Rate specs are mentioned in the blog post. Most of theses cameras shoot in 8-bit 4:2:0 between 35-100 MB/s. If theres a camera that offers better color or data transfer speeds than that, I call them out. But, that’s the default for most cameras, so I ended up skipping writing it over and over.

    Hi, good video. What would be the SOny equivelant to the Panasonic UX-180? I have used the UX-180 and want that form factor etc. I want it for events, weddings etc but don't want to turn up with a tiny little camcorder looking like a tourist rather than a professional. Thanks. I have Sony mirrorless so I want a Sony pro camcorder to match it.

      Hi, the closets options are the Z190 and the NX100 camcorders. The Z190 is the closest replica in terms of handling and I/O. But the NX100 is the only option that has a similar enough sensor to the UX-180. A lot of hybrid shooters using Sony's Alpha mirrorless cameras end up using the A7S III or the FX3 or FX6. Since all of these cameras have interchangeable lenses that you can double for photo AND video. That said, having an all-in-one camera like the Z190 camcorder is definitely a lot more convenient than lugging around any of these other options. You also get a way better zoom on its lens and better ports.

      @@PhotographyPX Thanks for getting back. i have been eyeing the NX200, It's mainly for church services, so I'd prefer the all in one setup..thanks again.

    I have the Sony ax700. IN hd it only shoot 50mbps unless you are shooting in the un usable 120FPS. in HD it really only shoots 50mbps.

    how about the little brother/cousin to the Panasonic X2000 the X1500? Ranked right there with the 2000?

    • @PhotographyPX
      @PhotographyPX  2 года назад

      Hi yes, both the X2000 and X1500 are great. These cameras are quite similar besides a few minor niche things Panasonic changed to market them towards different audiences. So yes, I’d rank the X1500 alongside the X2000.

    Where would the Canon XF605 fall in this list?
    Thanks!

    • @PhotographyPX
      @PhotographyPX  2 года назад

      Hi Ezequiel, the XF605 would come in at number 2 or 3 alongside the Panasonic UX180. Both cameras are quite similar, but the XF605 would be the UX180 in AF performance, live streaming, and its user interface.

    I have 5k to spend and I am a newbie. So, I would like to start with a camcorder. Image quality is of the most importance. What is your recommendation?

    • @PhotographyPX
      @PhotographyPX  2 года назад +2

      Hi Courtney, I would suggest going with either a Sony or Panasonic series camcorder if that’s the case. The two that come to mind are the Sony Z-90V or the Panasonic HCX-2000.

      @@PhotographyPX Thank dude! I am looking at the (Pan cx350) and (Can XF605) as well. I hear Can has better autofocus but Pan has the image for the price. A little overwhelmed and appreciate your response. Cheers!

    B&H has discontinued the Panasonic AG-DVX200. Why would that be?

    • @PhotographyPX
      @PhotographyPX  2 года назад

      Hi David, I would say it's due to age. The DVX200 came out around 2017, so it's due for an upgrade. Panasonic is likely about to release a new update to this lineup.

    I don't trust the Panasonic autofocus. How is it in their camcorders?

    • @PhotographyPX
      @PhotographyPX  2 года назад +2

      Hi Carl, it’s okay. The AF isn’t as strong as their newer cameras like the S5, the S1H (with the latest firmware updates), GH5 II and GH6. I’d say it’s better suited for more static or slower moving subjects, rather than say tracking sports.

  • @francisxd1040

    No full frame cameras here nothing on low light nothing on dynamic range or stabilization . yes these are better in general but they have to compete with the sony 7IV are they better in low light? better stablization? better dynamic range better transfer rates better auto focus. they need to be compared.

    • @bobuk5722
      @bobuk5722 2 года назад +2

      You will not find full frame in camcorders. The reason is the zoom lens, it would have to be very big and therefore very expensive and unwieldy. The necessary smaller sensors (usually 1 inch max with one 4/3 offering) means less dynamic range although the technology improves all the time - eventually there will be a dual output gain 1" sensor. Stabilisation though can be very good, I speak from experience. Sony hybrid AF has now almost caught up with Canon dual pixel but lacks some of the AI enhancements - at present. (March 2022).
