The short answer is if you don't count the tax, I paid more for my cell phone bill. Even after almost $10,000 in repairs and maintenance. Understand what you are buying, get a good example and you too can likely live the dream for a lot less than you would have guessed. Amortizing expenses over several years also is a better representation of actual ownership costs. Having a car for 2 years or less might not be indicative of actual ownership costs as you might get lucky or unlucky with the timing of a costly service or repair. I love how alot of people are complaining how this video is so boring, but in reality, this information is worth more in knowledge then the rest of his videos. If you want to own expensive cars, knowing how to use all this info Rob gives us is worth GOLD. But no, to them its boring, cause they all want to dream, without actually learning and applying about the things that can help you achieve.

One thing not mentioned in the cost (maybe); IDK the situation in NJ, but in my state (MO), one pays sales tax when buying/registering the car, and personal property tax every year thereafter, based on some sort of valuation calculation for the specific car.
6:20 really rob you needed a calc to subtract 5000 from 14331?? Also you should ABSOLUTELY include the insurance costs. Those are also included in the $273 you pay for the Volt.

Good info. I'm thinking the real time costs of this car are about $1,920 month. That includes his 298/month maint, 100/year insurance (not 60 like he said bc most of us don't have 10 cars), and a finance loan payment of 1,522 a month. The finance assumes a vehicle cost of 85k, with 10k down, for 60 months at 5%. What u guys think? You're fortunate if the car appreciates but I wouldn't assume that. 2k a month to operate 😳

They are already over 25 years old, JDM versions are less desirable here because they are RHD and they cost the same amount in Japan as they do here. So there is no benefit to getting a JDM one they are not any cheaper.

Zaki Hashmi that couldn't be further from the truth. The exact reason people in the NSX market will be bringing them over is exactly BECAUSE they're the same price as an American one. That means you get an immaculate, low mileage, JDM right-hand drive NSX for basically dimes on the dollar compared to how much you would spend for one of the same condition over here.
Look at the prices they are selling for in Japan buddy, they are very similar to US prices. JDM NSX are no cheaper there than they are here. RHD versions are already legal here in the US and no one seems to want them, thus the 25 year rule is having no impact on the prices of LHD US models.
Please do a video on your collector car insurance policy.
