    This video shows how you can use the SPC data cable input of an i-Gaging or Mitutoyo digital caliper to speed up your CAD/CAM work and data entry.
    The data input cable sure made testing a breeze.
    Be sure to check out the full video review showing which calipers I recommend.

    This is the first place I saw that showed the Caliper working with the Mitutoyo SPC Input Unit. Thanks!

    Instead of entering the "radius" of the hex, you want to create a driving dimension from one flat side to the opposite flat side. Measure this value with your caliper. This is the common way to measure the size of a hex nut, for example. This is called the measurement "across the flats." This is also the size of the wrench to use.
    Great video!

    mind blown. Fusion 360 is about to get a lot easier. Thanks for the video. I didn't see how this was going to work, but now I see it just inserts a text macro, genius.

    Thanks for making this video! Helped a lot. :)
    Do you have any idea what's the difference between the Mitutoyo 264-012-10 (the one you're using) and the Mitutoyo 264-016? I couldn't find any comparison between the two. But according to pictures in google the only difference I see is that the 264-016 has a big button compared to the small one in the 264-012-10.

      Just found the answer on page 4 in this PDF: www.mitutoyo.com.sg/documents/USB_input_tool.pdf
      It seems like the 264-016 is a newest model that has a ø18mm switch VS the ø4mm one in the 264-012-10. And both of the units have a 3.5mm mono jack for foot switch. I read that you can use any standard foot pedal if you have one, even of a synthesizer and save some bucks. :)

    Where did you get the SPC Input Unit?

    Great vids man! I am wondering if you know if the Mitutoyo foot pedal is compatible with Igaging data link? For parts that you have to hold while measuring, the foot pedal seems to be a necessity. Thanks

      Mitutoyo makes a cable with a new type of data connection now. I'm not sure if the foot pedal will work or not.

    Can we charge this instruments through this port

    Can data output from caliper go to different software than Excel? I mean some kind of software focused on SPC data collection which can visualize and analyze it. Will software like this recognize this device?

    • @GadgetClass
      @GadgetClass  8 лет назад

      yep. any application that can take keyboard input will accept this input.

    • @GadgetClass
      @GadgetClass  6 лет назад

      Yes. It is recognized as a standard HID device like a mouse or keyboard. The data output will be the same as if you entered the numbers on a keyboard.

    What CAD software are you using for this?

    Is it possible to have the data go to the next column instead of the next row automatically?

    • @GadgetClass
      @GadgetClass  3 года назад

      Yes. That is a setting in your spreadsheet application. Has nothing to do with caliper.

    Will that work with solid works?

    Do you know why this is so expense? The OriginCal digital caliper is $40 but the input cable is $80 on Amazon.

    I assume the data format between a mitutoyo and a igaging is different.

    • @GadgetClass
      @GadgetClass  8 лет назад

      +Steve Spence No, they are interchangeable

    • @sspence65
      @sspence65 8 лет назад

      Not according to Igaging. Igaging uses a 21bit data stream, Mitutoyo uses a 52 bit data stream.

    • @GadgetClass
      @GadgetClass  8 лет назад

      +GadgetClass the cable is supposed to be interchangeable and work on either. since it's a simple HID input driver. I'm assuming the data steam is generated by the caliper itself then.

    • @sspence65
      @sspence65 8 лет назад

      yes, the caliper generates the data stream, but not the clock.

      +GadgetClass Just got my igaging caliper and speedmic today. They do not use the same cable. The igaging cable has a much larger connector.
