It is good to know that SEGA is loosening some restrictions on Shadow. He was amazing in the Eggperial City arc, which is one of the many reasons why it's one of my favorites in IDW so far. And of course there's Prime. My take on the "only male hedgehogs can go super" is more like Sonic, Shadow, and Silver have a deeper connection to Chaos energy than others. The others can go super, just not that same golden state, which I see as more powerful. It's more of a light or flashing because they don't retain it like they do.Knuckles may have a strong bond with the Master Emerald, but it's not quite the same thing. It's different for machines, but another thing. *SUPERSTARS SPOILERS* And now we have Trip, who not only has a golden transformation, but turns into a freaking dragon! The Northstar Islands have a connection to the Chaos Emeralds to unlock new abilities with them. As the guardian, she has her own special powers.

Plus, the log-awaited 3D debuts of Super Knuckles, Super Tails and Super Amy would have been way more hype than a Super Saiyan 2 knock-off.
The only mendate I hate was shadow has no friends to begin with especially team dark aren't a thing, which is a lie in case for me as a shadow fan because it can coexist

I think that IDW, Archie, Fleetway, Sega, and all of the individual third parties need to shut up or that words of lead need to be said until all of the parties begin to agree to make a massive open universe like what Mario has in Nintendo. Honestly, lacking that for Sonic is one of the things that hurts him the most, and, if anything, Super Mario Brothers Wonder DID NOT need to have its timer and points and timer removed, rather, Sonic needs to have those things happen instead, as well as a much larger Badnik cast, as having those things, as well as a more diverse power up system, would be the absolute game changers that tge Sonic franchise needs in order to survive. Depending on how Sega goes with its decision making, it might either survive or die within the next few years.
Knowing about these mandates and how much they make me disrespect Sega it just lights up a fire in me to write fanfiction just to stay away from this company. Sure, it sucks most interesting things are just shrugged under the carpet, but at least Sega can't screw it up that way. I mean, they obviously won't be interested in writing something like ART robot from Sonic Underground surviving, finding and befriending Scrapniks on the Scrapnik Island, battling that garbage robot from Sonic 4 and hiding from Brutus from Fleetway comics. As for IDW, they still didn't get me invested at all with the main story. I'm bored with and I'm more so bored with Sonic Prime "plot" and just want to escape back to Fleetway, Archie, Underground and even Sonic Boom. Seems like I'm not a Sonic fan if I don't follow the new stuff and stay behind with these old "irrelevant" stories.
Archie will always have the best Sonic stories. It not being just like the games gave it room to be its own, unique story. The Boom TV show was a hilarious romp with its own style. I haven't read Fleetway or watched Underground though. I don't want too, but they seem better than IDW.

While yes, Archie took the biggest risks and is still the biggest Sonic universe to date Fleetway is really good and unlike Archie consistently good without quality dropping. You may be put off by early artstyle and Jerk Sonic, but both of these combined with the writing gets so much better as the series goes on(I'll die on the hill but Fleetway Eggman is the most sinister out of them all blowing both Archie and Satam ones out of the league) Actually, I like Underground more than SatAM. Sure, the series is not finished, there were enough pointless fillers and the songs are not the best, but almost all episodes are actually interesting, the main triplets trio is likeable, memorable and three-dimensional and the dialoge can have both sweet moments and complicated thoughts. At the very least you can just skip the songs if you don't like them unlike Antoine saying and doing some pointless bullshit trying to be "funny", Robotnik doing nothing but having Jim Cummings trying to imitate orgasm while talking or Sonic being the most "black" version of the 3 DIC cartoons and always saying that stupid "Do it to it" line.

So everything from Sonic 1 to Sonic forces(except 06 and Chronicles) are canon to the comics, but the comics aren't canon to the games. Tangle was mentioned so she's canon but currently the events of the comic aren't.

You seem to have Sega's elitism but going in the other direction.
