i listened to it this morning and seeing this comment on this channel is mind blowing lol but goodshit all around... music vibes and sports lol im glad this came across my feed this morning
Been REALLY diggin' the videos New jazz underground and Emmet Cohen have been puttin' out over the last couple of years. I was even lucky to catch all of Emmett's trio at Newport last year (year before?)BUT...Together? Freaking AWESOME! Listening now and just BANG on and rippin' it up.Surely the forefathers before you are smiling from Jazz Heaven right now.
What a bass player! Omg. Sebastian Rios what a find! He’s going to be one of the greats. I have a feeling him and Emmet will be playing a lot more together. Drummer is awesome also, such sensitive touch, not playing too loudly, so perfectly balancing the band dynamics. Emmet as always is amazing. But honestly Sebastian Rios is one of the best bassists I’ve ever heard. Great job guys 👏
This is cool and these guys are great. Real music and real musicianship. I'm 66 and find this music grounding and stimulating and relaxing. I'm from the SF Bay Area and saw a lot of concerts of every type of music on all levels during the 70's and 80's. Lots of TV On The Radio hybrids, all thoughtful. I saw Brubeck and BB King on the same bill in the late 80's and Stevie Wonder, Madonna and Prince twice. I saw Prince twice the same night; an 8pm arena show in Oakland then a 2am intimate show at SF's Warfield Theater. Rosie Gaines graduated my year from my high school and fronted Prince's New Power Generation band before gaining her own following as a solo artist. Curt Ohlson graduated a year ahead of me and played bass for Ray Charles before going solo. Stevie Wonder shocked us by performing at my high school for Black History Month in 1973 at the height of his "Taking Book" album. The son of Arif Mardin lived in my NYC building. I have lived a life immersed in and adjacent to music without being a musician myself. It's life-affirming to know young people are still playing and composing jazz music. It took until my retirement to find the time to actually enjoy my massive jazz music collection and now I can watch jazz performances of those guys from every decade on RUclips, which is a dream. Focusing on jazz and just having it on as background are different experiences. RUclips is becoming my main streaming platform because of videos like this. So much viscerally satisfying stuff. Like this post.
This is what I am talking about...a kick ass jazz session with the new generation taking the forefront of an amazing music genre. Just amazing.....kudos from San Francisco Bay Area!!!! I have my port and cigar just jivin to this jam session

They're swinging and have great vocabulary, really digging this. Real Bebop style jazz is hard to come by, especially having a group with amazing chemistry.
Another swinging session. Thanks for introducing me to these inspiring young musicians. Abdias Armenteros is certainly a thoughtful and lyrical improviser!
Outstanding 😊. I'm loving this music 🎶 🎵. It is so wild. I can't get enough. I'm an Art Pepper and miles Davis fan and I think they would have a blast lissoning to your music.
This was a GIFT! Wish I could have been in that living room. :) Y'all ever pass through Tulsa, I've got a nice big living room for you to play in, and, well, there are lots of other options in the area, Tulsa is a vibrant place! Again, thank you for this!!!

Y’all sound good man!
AMAZING PERFORMANCE, MUCH RESPECT & LOVE FROM COLOMBIA!
Flawless!!!!
Come to Portland, OR! Dont play the old church, the acoustics are terrible at that venue
It's performances like this from the younger generation that reaffirms Jazz is in good hands and the baton is being passed.
💯
💯💯💯
Yes!
My kids are going crazy watching 2 of their favorite channels make magic
❤
I really want my kids to appreciate stuff like this
It's wonderful to see younger generations will keep jazz alive.
Bro it warms my heart to see young cats swing...😊
Danggg legendary collab!!
You’re next. 😉
We gotta get up too! big respect to you and your brother
Get on there and play Nathan!
These guys are no joke; jazz lives.
These young men know what time it is! 👏🎶

Finally a drummer who doesn't use a matched grip...
New jazz underground at emmets place sponsored by open studio. What a triple threat of jazz media legends!

Well said
seeing a colab between the first two channels where I really discovered jazz as a high school student is something else man
literally exact same
fr
Looking forward to joining you on the bandstand soon, young man.
Man I just finished a rewatch of Treme, and all I can say is: "Ron, I'm hearing you!" :D
It really warms my heart to see these YOUNG LIONS doing it like it should be done!
Thank you algorithm
That tenor sax made me want to dust off and pick up my own! Even if I barely can play anything now. So good !
All right young men, I like what I'm hearing. You've stayed TRUE to the music. Kudos .
Jazz isn’t going away anytime soon!
Glad to see the young people having a appreciation for what some thought was an lost art 🪘💯🎼🥁🎤🎸🎺🪈🎷🪕🎻🎹👏🏿
This is what I am talking about...a kick ass jazz session with the new generation taking the forefront of an amazing music genre. Just amazing.....kudos from San Francisco Bay Area!!!! I have my port and cigar just jivin to this jam session
These three guys get better and better each time from the beginning. I love them !
I love seeing young people keeping the jazz discipline alive and they are amazing!
These people are amazing. I do not think this is " New Jazz " as labelled, this is simply pure Bebop with an irresistible new flavor.
So 'New Flavor Jazz Underground' would appease you? How about 'New Flavor Jazz Above and Occasionally Underground'? Its got a nice ring to it.

お酒をおいしくいただけました。ありがとう。
こういうピアノ好き。
ベースもドラムもサックスの演奏もとても素敵です。
ありがとうございます。
また聴きたいと思ってます。
Old school Don Byas/ Eddie Lockjaw sound…embracing the lower register of the saxophone Finally someone who doesn’t need to sound like Brecker…
Finally? Like this guy's the first good player to not sound like Brecker??
Not what I said..I’m talking about his sound.. he has a nice old school sound embracing the lower register of the tenor sax like Coleman, lockjaw, byas…
A gift, Emmet and NJU as was Michael Brecker.
Just squeeze me rocks. Pushing tears, every section. You all rocks.
Can’t wait for an NJU album 💿
This is probably the best group I have herd at Emmett's place. Thank you all for sharing your immense talent!
this is fucking history
They're swinging and have great vocabulary, really digging this. Real Bebop style jazz is hard to come by, especially having a group with amazing chemistry.
