She came in while the band was playing. More curves than a Grand Prix circuit. She glided over to my table. She sat down next to me, gazed at me with crystal eyes, and breathed: "Hello." A whirlwind of memories dizzied my mind. For a moment I did not know what to say.
"You got a light?" She asked, in her smoky voice. It was the sound I'd only heard in my dreams. I knew she had me at that very moment. And I also knew that she'd be my undoing.

I am awfully with you. Jazz can't be dark and the sounds we are listening here aren't dark. Therefor, they are deep... If for him "deep" means "dark". So, i am agree...
The great thing about jazz is it can be anything you want it to be. In my case, this is deep, thoughtful, pensive, reflective and comfortable. Definitely, not dark. But, I'm a positive and surviving kind of soul. For those who find it to be dark, I am so sorry for you. This is wonderful music.
As a tear rolled down my cheek and onto the concrete floor, I asked myself, how am I going to survive this? I noticed the beautiful luminescent moon...had it been daylight, I would not have been able to stare at the sun the same way. I smiled through my tears as I realized...sometimes you need a little dark to appreciate life.
In life, if ever I could afford a therapist, it would be music. You, music, you don’t discriminate, nor do you ask too many questions, but yet offer so many solutions. One of them being to just accept it, and to be in the moment. Everything will be alright. It will all work itself out in the end.
It's almost 3 a.m., the man I love told me this evening, that maybe we're not right for each other. I'm heartbroken, but my body could release only a few tears. Maybe that was all I had. I just smoke and stare into the darkness as always, when the nights like this come...
Wow...these comments are just as jazzy.....the words are as smooth and mellow as the keys on the piano. You can picture yourself in a smoky room full of hats and evening gowns sitting at a table with a glass of wine Falling in love with the saxophone. This is like that❤

Another rainy night in downtown Chicago, it’d been a hell of a week-some dame came waltzing in my office in distress. A tall drink of water and a gaze that hit me like a glass of whiskey. Sheesh, toots, this town might just do us both in.
I leaned back in my creaky office chair, the soft patter of rain against the window providing a steady rhythm to the chaos unfolding in my mind. Another dame in distress, another case that promised trouble on the horizon. But there was something about her, something that stirred a long-forgotten ache deep within me. "Alright, sweetheart," I said, reaching for the bottle of bourbon nestled in the bottom drawer of my desk. "Let's hear what's got you all worked up." She perched on the edge of my desk, the hem of her dress riding dangerously high as she crossed her legs. "It's my husband," she began, her voice trembling with fear and desperation. "He's disappeared, vanished into thin air without a trace." I took a swig of bourbon, letting the fiery liquid burn away the doubts and reservations that threatened to cloud my judgment. "And what makes you think I can help you find him?" She leaned in closer, her breath warm against my cheek. "Because you're the best in the business, aren't you, detective? The one they call when all other hope is lost." I couldn't help but smirk at her flattery, even as I knew it was nothing more than smoke and mirrors. But there was something about her, something that tugged at the edges of my conscience and refused to let go. "Alright, doll," I said, stubbing out my cigarette in the overflowing ashtray on my desk. "You've got yourself a deal. But let's get one thing straight-I don't come cheap, and I don't play nice with the big shots in this town." She flashed me a smile that was equal parts charm and danger, her eyes gleaming with a hint of mischief. "Don't worry, detective," she said, her voice low and sultry. "I can be very... persuasive when I want to be." And with that, she rose from my desk, her silhouette a shadow against the backdrop of the rain-soaked city beyond. As she slipped out into the night, I couldn't shake the feeling that this case was going to be trouble, the kind that had a way of sticking to your skin long after the rain had stopped falling. But in a town like Chicago, trouble was just another name for business as usual.....
Sitting in a dark room with a single dim light on, smoking a cigarette and drinking some whiskey. I tell you loneliness is a hell of a battle. I'm trying not to let it win.
allow Ted to change your perspective: The oversocialized person cannot even experience, without guilt, thoughts or feelings that are contrary to the accepted morality; he cannot think "unclean" thoughts. And socialization is not just a matter of morality; we are socialized to conform to many norms of behavior that do not fall under the heading of morality. Thus the oversocialized person is kept on a psychological leash and spends his life running on rails that society has laid down for him. In many oversocialized people this results in a sense of constraint and powerlessness that can be a severe hardship. We suggest that oversocialization is among the more serious cruelties that human beings inflict on one another. Theodore J. Kaczynski
this is not dark jazz. this is cool jazz. dark jazz is much more like ambient music. The kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble is a good place to start listening to that too. both cool, but different vibes. Edit: also check out Bohren and Der Club Of Gore
The bar sign flickered as she walked down the sidwalk into the dark. She was a kiss that a guy like this could never forget, a pleasent dream churning into a nightmare of never having a chance to even see her again.
"Life's not all bad, kid. Sure, some days are harder than others, and sometimes it seems like nothing will ever go your way. But sometimes a moment comes along that makes all the other bull you have to go through feel worthwhile. Remember to enjoy that moment when it comes, they're few and far between."
In the dimly lit bar, the private investigator nursed his bourbon, the amber liquid swirling in his glass like the tangled threads of his latest case. Smoke curled lazily from his cigarette, mingling with the low murmur of conversation and the clink of ice. Shadows danced across his rugged face, etched with sleepless nights and unanswered questions. His eyes, sharp and distant, fixed on the neon glow outside as he pieced together fragments of a puzzle, the weight of his thoughts heavier than the smoky haze enveloping him. Each sip was a bitter reminder of the elusive truth he sought.
Oh man, sold by the first track!! Sitting in the dark with this on my system is bliss 👌 Makes me wanna have a scotch and a smoke while reflecting on the good, the bad, and the ugly of life.
One day you will stop talking, you will stop thinking... this is when you will hear life speaking; she has been speaking all this time while you were behaving like the deer who thought that the forest was born yesterday. Her words will be so beautiful but an affront to your old age; if only youth could hear her speak...
A cold dark rainy night. She was walking towards me on the same side of street. But something made feel different about her approach. As if she knew me the closer she got to me the more grace filled her walk and sride. The rain and light wind didn't seem to bother her at all. I looked up as we cross paths and to my amazement it was her. Lady of the night full of unique dark beauty. I was to shy and nervous to say anything. She smiled and continued on as if it she had a important date or so. Never seen her again after that night. The city of Long Beach Ca has got its magical moments. Be cautious
Beneath the fractured glow of a flickering streetlamp, the rain-drenched pavement shimmered like liquid obsidian, casting long, shadowy reflections of the solitary figures who drifted through the night, lost in the city's melancholy embrace.
Another day, another time, you will realized how much you took for granted by not slowing down for moments at a time. Life moves fast. We dont control whats around us but we can control the moments we choose to sit down, reflect and cherish what has passed, what is now and what will soon take place. You dont need much to be happy...just a positive perception on your life. Find your resolve before what burdens you, consumes you.
This is better to play on a rainy day, head leaning against the window as you watch the rain kiss the earth and a glass of your prefered liqour as your mind wonders what is, what was and what it will be tomorrow
Immediately gave me vibes of being an 80s/90s kid with insomnia, stuck awake watching random TV in the middle of the night. So many shows had some bit of this type of jazz somewhere in their score. During a scene, during a closing shot traveling through or around/above the city, the end theme, etc. I miss those nights. World felt simpler as a kid.
I have a drink with a cigar while just reflecting on my life. This music just blends with the drink and cigar. The perfect trio in a life of eternal blues.
This music has opened a door I often walked by. Never a thought to what might lie inside waiting for me to open it. I waited. Listening . Hearing the words softly spoken behind the door. With a trembling heart I cracked open the door. The music filled my soul. Then words flowed softly and sure. It’s the music that stirred me.
She was worth it since the first time at sight, her elegance outshined her beauty, as her personality screamed life, her heart was unconditional and her overall was a charm of healing, courage, and ambition. She had a thing for a different one, I felt defeated, I felt late, I felt as if I never had a fighting chance. I was full of jealousy and envy, I was feeling sad and desperate, I was feeling like I never had a fighting chance. I went off away recrafting my broken pieces into new ones to replace the wounded, the hurt, the envy, the jealousy, I was recrafting my conscious and so I that would have a fighting chance. I took my time and experienced, I made many accomplishments, I overcame the impossible, I acknowledged my errors and made peace, I had knew without knowing my whole life that I always and forever will have a fighting chance.
From the moment I walked into this place my heart felt your presence. Then my eyes seen your beauty. My body had butterflies something I haven’t felt since I was young. I heard your voice saying “ my name is angel “ . Angel she was indeed
I see myself. Dreams achieved. It’s dark out. I came home from a long night of entertaining guests at my art show. My most prized pieces were revered. My future husband is sound asleep. I’m listening to this in my ears as I take the last piece of cake and brew some tea. The view from my window is as perfect as this moment. I take in this moment because it will last a lifetime.

The loneliness flowed smoothly out of my flared nostrils. As I put my fluted glass down on the curved edge of a creamy white marble bar. All of our dreams ended like a puff of grey smoke. I'm lost without you. No one will fill your shoes or love me like you did. Memories ahhh!! How bitter sweet they are. Tearing my heart apart. While soothing my soul at the same time. I love you still and forever more. Sweet Valentine. ❤
Middle of the night, just made myself an old fashioned. Big city lights on my mind, flashback of some high heels, some red lipstick mixing with a smooth perfume
This music perfectly captures the reason why i am most productive at night. The warm cozy light of your desk lamp that highlights your busy work station balances the empty dark atmosphere in the room. Noone is awake to judge you, noone is awake to disturb you, its just you, and whatever the hell you're doing up at 11pm. This music isnt just the mood, its the entire VIBE
The city hummed a low tune of broken dreams, and every corner reeked of secrets too sour to swallow. The rain came down in sheets, washing away nothing but hope.
"The desert speaks to me, In this time between when the sunrise so closely resembles the dusk at dawn... Wherein so often I have struggled to sleep, and to not... "
Becoming lost in this melody while my broken heart throbs and shatters into a million pieces. I've filled an ocean with my tears. Unrequited love is so hard to heal from. Each key played reminds me of the Rollercoaster of emotions that I've gone through. I feel so invisible and alone. Lonely is my only company....
"Listen here, in life, if you go out of line, people will bully you back into submission. Don't let them take away your spunk, kid! As you can see the patrons in this bar, they all have their own struggles, just like you do. But unlike those people, you have the mindset required to think outside the box, at least that's my opinion of you after we played that game of Go just an hour ago. Trust me when I say this, you will succeed, even if your rivals say you will fall. Take my words as they are."
The Greek's joint was the kind of place where faded dreams and faded broads eventually came together. I know. At one time or another I chased each of them.
Love these background tracks. These songs follow the chord progressions of the 1959 Miles Davis and Bill Evans song Blue and Green on the album "Kind of Blue. Classic late night jazz.
He walked into the bar, cocked his hat and looked at me. His eyes were the type of deep blue that reminded you of warm water. He was cute … in a sort of Christopher Walken sort of way. But looking at him, I just knew that he would be the kind of trouble I always found myself in …
So much well written words in this comment section...I would not even dare to compete...I just would like to say Thank You! Excellent all the way down to the wonderful night shot.
As she strode toward me at the bar in that silver cocktail dress, she was just like I'd remembered all those years. Same sun-bronzed skin, same jet-black bob cut, same smell of Cuban cigars. Like she'd walked right out of that polaroid of us in Havanna. *Somewhere in hell,* I thought, *someone just found snow on the ground.*
There are a million playlists in the big city. She was just one of them. For three hours and thirty nine minutes she danced with me, and then was gone. I never got her name. She never got mine. LA in 1948. Driving at dusk, letting the sun glance off your windshield, as you head to your favorite watering hole to salve the heartbreak of a lost love. You know it won’t bring her back, but you know it will let you wallow in the pain, the loss, and, ultimately, the honoring of her. She was the one. Maybe somewhere in the next life, if you’re lucky, you cross paths and things will be different. But it was not to be in this life. You’ll always have the memories of what was, but you know that you’ll never have that ever again and it’s a bittersweet feeling: sad that it’s gone but happy that you had it at all….
Actually, it was O.C. in '85, but whatever...

That is not dark jazz..that is very light, love and peacefull jazz...jazz couldn't be dark...thank you for posting it 🙏🎵😮❤️
I am awfully with you. Jazz can't be dark and the sounds we are listening here aren't dark. Therefor, they are deep... If for him "deep" means "dark". So, i am agree...
If you don't think jazz can be dark, listen to The Night by Morphine.
It doesn't exist! Even Ornette Coleman Double Quartet or Pat Metheny Song X is not consider dark jazz
@@elgatofelix8917 ok sorry..I mean instrumental jazz...but of course there are some exceptions

I knew the dame was trouble the first time I saw her outside my window, especially since my office is on the fifth floor.
That's too funny!!
Almost spit on my monitor!
Laughed out loud! You made my day!!!!! Thank you

Somebody asked me once what kind of jazz I liked. I said three o’clock, cry in your beer, break your heart kind of jazz
yup.. i hear yah...
It's almost 3 a.m., the man I love told me this evening, that maybe we're not right for each other. I'm heartbroken, but my body could release only a few tears. Maybe that was all I had. I just smoke and stare into the darkness as always, when the nights like this come...
Thinking of my late mother. She taught me how to play the guitar. So I'm sitting here on a cold Winter's night.... strumming along.
This is probably the best comment section I've came so far, reading all this comments was wonderful and amazing 😍🍷while the jazz plays, perfect
Wow...these comments are just as jazzy.....the words are as smooth and mellow as the keys on the piano. You can picture yourself in a smoky room full of hats and evening gowns sitting at a table with a glass of wine Falling in love with the saxophone. This is like that❤

Dr. told me I have cancer today. No freak out or anything. Am glad i found this channel though.

I wish you strength and love, and hope beautiful music will bring some comfort.
@gregtaylor8017 thank you very much. It always does.

God bless you and give you strength. You will win ! You are strong!
"Let's hear what's got you all worked up."
She perched on the edge of my desk, the hem of her dress riding dangerously high as she crossed her legs. "It's my husband," she began, her voice trembling with fear and desperation. "He's disappeared, vanished into thin air without a trace."
I took a swig of bourbon, letting the fiery liquid burn away the doubts and reservations that threatened to cloud my judgment. "And what makes you think I can help you find him?"
She leaned in closer, her breath warm against my cheek. "Because you're the best in the business, aren't you, detective? The one they call when all other hope is lost."
I couldn't help but smirk at her flattery, even as I knew it was nothing more than smoke and mirrors. But there was something about her, something that tugged at the edges of my conscience and refused to let go.
"Alright, doll," I said, stubbing out my cigarette in the overflowing ashtray on my desk. "You've got yourself a deal. But let's get one thing straight-I don't come cheap, and I don't play nice with the big shots in this town."
She flashed me a smile that was equal parts charm and danger, her eyes gleaming with a hint of mischief. "Don't worry, detective," she said, her voice low and sultry. "I can be very... persuasive when I want to be."
And with that, she rose from my desk, her silhouette a shadow against the backdrop of the rain-soaked city beyond. As she slipped out into the night, I couldn't shake the feeling that this case was going to be trouble, the kind that had a way of sticking to your skin long after the rain had stopped falling. But in a town like Chicago, trouble was just another name for business as usual.....

U must both be gay and male
3 hours in a fancy restaurant dating a beautiful classy woman. That's how it feels listening to this great jazz compilation.
Only if the man is also handsome & classy. 😎
But then you discover that not only does she have hair sticking out of her nose but her weenie is bigger than yours.
That´s true! But belongs this music not more the time thereafter?
And after 3 hours, she friendzoned you. Again.
@@rfinck449Tough luck, I guess.
Sitting in a dark room with a single dim light on, smoking a cigarette and drinking some whiskey. I tell you loneliness is a hell of a battle. I'm trying not to let it win.
allow Ted to change your perspective:
The oversocialized person cannot even experience, without guilt, thoughts or feelings that are contrary to the accepted morality; he cannot think "unclean" thoughts.

Amen 🙏🏾
And I will meet you there.
this is not dark jazz. this is cool jazz. dark jazz is much more like ambient music. The kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble is a good place to start listening to that too. both cool, but different vibes.
Edit: also check out Bohren and Der Club Of Gore
I love this music. It’s an “end of the day” type of music. The bar is sparse. Reflections are in full effect and the bourbon is supreme…
That right heh, everytime I watching a detective movie and I wonder where i can find the kind of Jazz like this.
Darling, a bad night like yours ain't nothing special 'round here. Hate to say it, we just call it tuesday.
The bar sign flickered as she walked down the sidwalk into the dark. She was a kiss that a guy like this could never forget, a pleasent dream churning into a nightmare of never having a chance to even see her again.
Because she was perfectly taken by a gentleman like me😊😊😊

I can totally visualize it. Great writing.
Very good 👍
Yes, it was quite good...😞

This is not dark jazz... this is beautiful jazz
Right? How somebody classify it as dark, Everybody talks about the circus in their own experience
Dark and beautiful, it's like late evening music ~!

Once the Jazz is on, it's too late son, you're already chained to the devil in disguise, all you can do is stay still and be charmed
One day you will stop talking, you will stop thinking... this is when you will hear life speaking; she has been speaking all this time while you were behaving like the deer who thought that the forest was born yesterday. Her words will be so beautiful but an affront to your old age; if only youth could hear her speak...
Beautiful.. where is this from

Makes you want to drive the streets at night, playing this music and quoting Jack Kerouac .;-)
this is the perfect mix between melancholy and relaxation and brings a strange calm to my soul, great playlist
Be cautious
Did you ask if she would rizzle your diddler?
Hey Mr Moon Bravo that was beautiful
Beneath the fractured glow of a flickering streetlamp, the rain-drenched pavement shimmered like liquid obsidian, casting long, shadowy reflections of the solitary figures who drifted through the night, lost in the city's melancholy embrace.
i look out into the city scape after a long day of work, i take my almost empty flask and take a sip. i need to refill on my way to Barbra's...

I find it uplifting not "depression" filled
Jazz music helps me with my writing and painting
Also, it surprises me that there is no movie like John Wick, but it is a cat owner who avenges the death of their beloved cat.
Alas.. i find the silence in you after escaping a world so loud... sing to my heart without words and i will understand your soul..
My grandfather played trumpet with a mute like this. Memories and memories i wish i made
Noir jazz is a class all its own. Brings such peace to my soul.
These playlists made me realize that the combination of trumpet and piano brings me to a whole new level of inner thoughts
Bro, that hitted instantly in my soul! Calmed me down and set me a mood of contemplation. This is high soul food quality.
From the moment I walked into this place my heart felt your presence. Then my eyes seen your beauty. My body had butterflies something I haven’t felt since I was young. I heard your voice saying “ my name is angel “ . Angel she was indeed

"The desert speaks to me,

when the sunrise so closely resembles the dusk at dawn...
Wherein so often I have struggled to sleep,
and to not... "
Becoming lost in this melody while my broken heart throbs and shatters into a million pieces.
I've filled an ocean with my tears. Unrequited love is so hard to heal from. Each key played reminds me of the Rollercoaster of emotions that I've gone through.

In my house there is only melancholy and emptiness without your presence. And what I feel in my chest, my dear, is an immense and cruel loneliness.

He walked into the bar, cocked his hat and looked at me. His eyes were the type of deep blue that reminded you of warm water. He was cute … in a sort of Christopher Walken sort of way. But looking at him, I just knew that he would be the kind of trouble I always found myself in …
