The most impressive thing about Emmet Cohen, is that he has absolutely mastered all the jazz aesthetics of his instrument, from 20’s stride to Kurt. That dude is the most versatile cat i have ever heard.

I'm old school in my taste. I love to hear some young me out here really speaking the language. I had the privilege of growing up playing in school with Patrick Bartley (Alto Sax). It was a treat. It's encouraging to hear how good, natural, organic, and authentic he still sounds today.
Patrick obviously killed it! But let’s take a moment, everyone else absolutely NAILED IT TO THE WALL!! Sax, trumpet drums bass and piano solo absolutely on point, ABSOLUTE MASTERS OF THEIR ART! EMMET BRUCE RUSSEL JOE AND PATRICK 💪
I used to play at jam sessions with Patrick and Russel in south Florida many years ago . I knew they were something special back then and boy was I right. Seeing them play has motivated me to practice again . Maybe I’ll get to play a tune or two with them again if I’m lucky.
sometimes you hear a soloist just doesnt quite bring out the color in the changes. it feels like trying to crack your knuckle and failing. patrick bartley is the absolute antidote to that. god damn!
*Never heard Ugetsu played like this in my life.* Patrick’s wailing left me in a puddle. Bruce’s horn is wicked refinement. Emmet torched his piano solo, my god...& the rhythm is beyond...🔥24:13 Joooe, our maaan....Russell, that baaass.🙌🏽. purely passionate about this. Bartley's *Spirit of Freedom* is superb, (just as his Japanese!) 1:17:11 *...Come Sunday* is sublime.1:32:55
Bruce's face @ Pat's playing is priceless. A few times he looks like "Do yall hear this s***?! DAMN!" Haha hats off to all musicians on set. You guys killed it
Smokin Hot............Emmet, what a wonderful band you brought for us tonight )) that HAT of Russell’s is so good, not to mention his bass ))).......thanks guys from Bridport by the sea , England ))
I can't praise enough your concerts, Emmet. Excellent trios and excellent choices of invitees. Thank you so much for all the music! Today´s and Lovano's concerts made my day. Couldn't stop watching!
I heard it when he just totally channeled Cannonball for a few seconds. I have no idea how he did that. Whoa! Sounded exactly like him, but just for a few seconds. Totally different sound from his, too. Almost weird.
Kids in jazz school are gonna be studying this performance for decades.

Pat is unbelievable man. He can sound just like Cannonball one second and then flip to his own totally unique, melodic, screaming, and insane playing.
That's a good description of his playing.
Masterful
Yeah, Pat's solos are miraculous.

Grew up playing with Russel too. Hasn’t lost his solo chops a bit.
You gave me my first lesson at Dillard with Markus! Hope all is well man!
My good lord Ugetsu was cooking gentlemen, I just can't believe it! Watched it 10 x already!
This video reminds me why I love music. I felt things I didn't know I could feel while watching this.
Emmet's Place is the best!! So much incredible music and what a blessing to be introduced to these amazing musicians. Emmet himself - pure genius!!

OMG this is just such a fantastic concert. Amazing, mind blowing and heart warming. Sending my love from a hotel room in Munich! O.
This slaps, just put it out as a record as is.
Залипательная музыка!
Such a tasty little outro in Ugestu (after an absolute ROMP)!
This is some fantastic music. Did they ever record an album together? I know with the ever changing jazz lineups it's unlikely.
wow.....
Love the Mayreh quote at 45:45 at the beginning of your solo on Little Willie Leaps. 🙌 You're clearly a student of Art Blakey's output!
WIsh I could hear this quintet live in Boulder/Denver. Wow. You guys always rock it, but this was a little bit beyond the usual awesome.
I heard it when he just totally channeled Cannonball for a few seconds. I have no idea how he did that. Whoa! Sounded exactly like him, but just for a few seconds. Totally different sound from his, too. Almost weird.

Anyone else hear the chorus from Still Fly by Big Tymers during the Spirit of Freedom head?
Oh my dear brain, where are your pieces now?!
How come that there are no records by Patrick?
What's the abstract colorful framed poster on the wall? ID on it?
