I went to jazz school, I'm a working musician. I have a deep love and respect for this music. But I don't feel he need to go around and be a boomer about modern music.
She's a gorgeous singer. So refreshing to hear nuanced vocal control. Was beginning to think the only style this young generation knows is to belt out a tune. Vocal jazz is alive and well.
The rythym section, that's it; you guy always have it. Samara, singin' the music I love best equally with my favorite contemporary Brazillian singer; Sega! WOW women; Samara and Sega, now that's singin'.
I made a big mistake, Sega is not Sega, it's MAR, and she's Spanish; and man can she sing! Love to everyone from myselfnow a armchair musician who hasn't performed since the early '80s. Times wasting for us old dudes; remembering how good it felt to play in public.

I saw her perform a couple of weeks ago in Ann Arbor and it was such a wonderful experience. She shows her musicians so much love and she talks to her audience about her life in between the glorious singing. I couldn’t stop smiling during the whole show.
Just saw both Samara Joy and the Emmet Cohen Trio at the Tucson Jazz Festival. Wonderful concerts. And they got together one evening at a jam session. Perfection!

She played classical music but her son my father chose to play Jazz bass (you have to imagine the conversations that went on “you’re going to do what….Jazz….?????” 😂 lol But watching this really reminds me of dad; he just died in February.
A few months ago I found out about you Emmet Cohen, Russell Hall and Kyle Pool as an amazing jazz trio with your series "Live from Emmet's Place". Add to this all the marvelous guests you presented in your concerts. The jazz lover that I always was is more than happy! Wow a young singer who can actually sing, does not rely on autotune or video gimmicks, just a group of fine musicians and her vocal ability which is remarkable for her years. She acknowledges the influence of Ella and Sarah, which you can hear, but she brings her own individual style and something new to some of the greatest songs ever written.I hope some of the younger generation which listen and appreciate the great talent of Samara and the gifted musicians who accompany her.

The bands focus and concentration on the music reaches another level when there is a great female vocalist present, maybe you guys should do this more often. Nobody will complain about it, they will be crying out for more that's for sure.
