That was an incredible set, exceptional even by Emmet's high standards -- a master class by all concerned in how to tell a surprise-packed musical story while swinging from note one. And where else are you going to hear superb young singers like Lucy Yeghiazarian and Samara Joy, as well as great veterans like Catherine Russell and Mary Stallings? I started going to NYC jazz clubs in 1956 when I turned eighteen, and heard now-mythical players like Miles, Diz, Monk, Bud, Trane, Prez, Basie, and many others. Now, when I hear Emmet and the instrumentalists and singers who perform at his place, I can truly say that the music is still in good hands, and will undoubtedly continue to be. So thank you all. We need you, now more than ever.
