When Vic plays, him and I arn't our age because once we get on our instrument we are twenty something with triple abilties compared to when we were young. A piano player here who loves when you host older muscians who are still at the top of their game.
Wonderful band, great video and audio, and a real piano! In addition to playing great drums, Victor is preaching some serious stuff like Art Blakey did in his later days.
I love how you can hear every note from the bass at Emmet's, no nasty thump-thump-thump from the bass drum, that you always get from Small's, that drowns out the double bass!
Fluid solo Emmit on Jeanine that speaks meaning as many of your solos do; so good. Next week, can hardly wait for my first piano to arrive in my house. It's a Baldwin but sounds like a Steinway and the keys don't play hard to touch like many Baldwins. Can't wait to have my baby back, my girl since 1965, and in my house! Can't wait to see the bill now days for tuning a piano, but the girl is worth it.
Nothing beats the sound of a great acoustic piano; those long time friends who're pianos have a soul and we love them as part of ourselves. Play that Steinway Emmet, it's part of you.
Some kind words from Victor there. He's right. You guys already are the next legends carrying on the music and pushing it forward for even more generations to stand on your shoulders as you stood on the previous ones. Thanks for making this tradition widely available for all of us. It's such a joy.

You are awesome João 🤟🏽…*thank you* -(our jazz fam last enjoyed Freddie’s tune in vol 54, with the Trio & Dan Wilson, guitar) …really been training my ear - & keeping up with these guys is an encyclopedic exercise 🤯♥️
Thanks Meira! Missed your enlightened presence last night but maybe you were in the room. I'll never forget hearing Victor Lewis play w/George Cables- what giants!
You shine, Charlotte! Hearing Cables & V. Lewis must’ve been fire on scene!! 🔥…The greatest giants are those who create more giants 🙌🏽…. I missed sharing these first-class vibes with our jazz fam & adore learning as lifelong seekers ❤️🔥🌎 -
Victor has that “old man swag” that older drummers get

Starting with good bait! Such a great choice... Tadd deserves more love.
These cats create such an amazing space together.
If a jazz solo is like chess ♟, Stacy Dillard sees 8 moves ahead! 🙌🏽🙌🏽💯💯
I see Stella with tears in her eyes
That Victor Lewis is a star I tell ya. So much flavor, widee open. All the spontaneity in the world. What a player
