Amazing work!!
hi emmet
Please get someone to transcribe your solo from the other live performance you guys did on this tune. It was amazing and longer. Big fan
It’s the man himself. I really appreciate everything you’re doing for the jazz scene and music as a whole.

One of the greatest live jazz recordings in the last decade
Literally goosebumps :)
Yep, 100% This recording is up there with other landmark sessions. It represents so much scope and context, in the incredible American tree that is jazz. The journey of jazz crystallised. It reminds me of Marsalis, Mingus, Morton, in its intention and belief in jazz as a serious musical discipline.
It really is.
My mental health could not survive transcribing this. Beautiful job
I would have tried to nonchalantly exit the room if I was going to play a solo after Patrick Bartley . I was scared for Bruce Harris , but he pulled an awesome solo out of his genius mind .It took guts to follow Mr. Bartley. Amazing Stuff it doesn’t get any better then this
Bartley’s solo is like if Coleman Hawkins took a Time Machine 100 years into the future
Definitely, great analogy!!! I was hearing Colman Hawkins and Benny Carter
And Harris sounds like if Clifford Brown did the same!
@@seabasszamarripa8252not sure about the sound but at least in terms of notes Harris played way more out stuff than Brown did, at least according to my limited number of Brown’s recording I listened to. Both are awesome though!
Knowing how transcribe this is literally too much power for any one musican
Holy shit this guy actually transcribed the whole thing
One of my fave moments at Emmet’s Place - makes me happy no matter how often I listen- great transcription
Thanks:) Yeah it's definitely one of the top shelf jams at Emmet's place. And super re-listenable.
ur doing the jazz community a big favour by transcribing all these solos. i loved that you kept this in concert pitch with chords and the line it makes it really easy to follow! wonderful job keep up the great work!!!
1:23 - 1:45 are one of the best lines I've ever heared!
In 1959, I bought a record album, The Jazz Poll Winners 1959. That album set my 13 years old ears on fire, and now this. Thank you. I'm alive again.
Bravo.
This deserves some kind of special award. A really special one
The entire video with every single note from each musicians lives rent free in my head ! It's true that Mister Bartley Went full Super Sayan in this one. And the way Mr Harris picks up and sets up his own mood in his solo afterwards is just phenomenal ! I love you guys, thank you for giving us such beauty.
Patrick is absolutely a beast on saxophone! Thank you for putting this together. Well deserved recognition of greatness by all involved in this epic artistic creation.
This is absolutely bonkers!! just got a subscriber. incredible work Luka!
cheers :)
Wow, Patrick Bartley is the chef's kiss of chef's kisses. Bravo all!
4:13 absolutely insane. Whole trumpet solo soooo good. Love it.
One of my fav licks. It's a Clifford Brown quote from the tune "Brownie Speaks." Be sure to check it out if you haven't already!
@@seabasszamarripa8252haha you are insane, this lick in „brownie speaks“ is actually played in the original at 0:45s by Cliff Brown. Thanks for letting me know ;)
Bartley……killed……that…….solo. Wow.
Amazing work man. This performance is one for the ages in terms of its formal exploration of jazz, and to see it notated makes you appreciate it on whole other levels. Congrats
NO WAY. THIS IS AMAZING
My favourite Patrick Bartley solo. Great job 👏
YO

Absolutely amazing video! Is there any way to find the transposed version of this?
Thanks for asking:) lukabolte05.wixsite.com/my-site-3 has Eb, Bb & C charts.
Damn you guys are good
LOVE IT
Waouh beautiful work …! Thanks a lot !!
Wow ditto.....Incredible transcribing job bro!

This is sick! Thank you!!
Whao !! Great respect
Great Bartley!!
Bar 1, beat 3, LH: That's a G below middle C, not middle C.
Bar 5, 'and' of beat 1, LH: That's a perfect fifth interval of Bb and F, not an octave.
Bar 500, 'and' of beat 3, LH: This chord goes EbBbD, i.e. Ebmin(maj7). The second voicing is correct.
yeah i also wrote B instead of Bb as a chord symbol a few times:)
I’m clapping at home, very enjoyable
que genios
The Eb on the fourth beat of measure 12 in the piano intro should be a Db or C#. This is amazing work and would have taken me forever to transcribe.
Wooooooowwwwwww ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
man, patrick bartley!
Well Dayum!
GOD... DAMN!!!
incredible! Subscribed
Wow how much time does it take to make this Transcription ❤❤❤🎉
2:58 hell ya man
Did you hear Tpt after Alto?...he spaced his notes & created his own space. That = musical intelligence.
absoutely. Bruce Harris - a master of space!
💥💥💥
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
🔥
wow. swingin
This is amazing! How many hours did it take?
too many. like over 10 hours cos i procrastinate a lot
@@fresamouse it takes me ten hours to transcribe a 2 minute solo 💀 respect
How to buy this amazing transcription?
for free (lukabolte05@icloud.com). let me know which solo and if you want Eb, Bb or concert pitch.
at 0:31, it sounds like patrick is descending down to the a instead of a half note then a rest, i could be wrong tho
Nice intro!
👌
The Gb's in pickup to m. 394 and in 394 are just F i think. He's not putting down 2+3 valve at all until the next measure
형 사랑해
Is the wix down? I was hoping to see the transcriptions. Man awesome work!!!!!
should be working now. if not, email me and i'll send you the transcriptions (lukabolte05@icloud.com).
bro what about the drums?
I want to get the E♭score !
Can someone explain the harmony of the intro?
sure thing. so Emmet is essentially starting midway through the B section of the melody. In the song, the chord progression repeats twice, except for the change of that second time variation it lingers on the ii minor chord (Cm - G7 - Cm) tonicsizing it with the dominant, instead of a 2 5 1 into the tonic as it does the first time. He's basically starting on the lyric "someday when you feel lonely." as playing through almost the entire second half of the changes as the intro ( Cm / G7 / Cm / Ebm7 Ab7 / Bb / Am7(b5) D7 / Gm / Gdim7 / Dm7 / G7 / Cm7 / F7 / Bb / / / E+7 )
@@fresamouse Wow. Brilliant. Thank you so much.
great job!
the link is down:(
email me i'll send you pdfs(lukabolte05@icloud.com)
Why is the trumpet transcription writing in c? You have to transpose the trumpet up 1 step. Same with sax, it's written in c but it's supposed to be Eb. Yeah you can play the parts on piano, but not on the correct instruments.
glad you asked. it's a concert pitch transcription for objectivity's sake. when there are three solos in one video, you can examine the difference in approach to soloing in the three players(what chord tones/ extensions they rely on, space, etc.). But there are also Eb, and Bb transcriptions in the link in the description. :)
Now do the drum solo transcribe the drum solo and the rest🗿
What's this type of jazz called?
The short answer is "bebop," which tends to involve a lot of complex flowing melodic lines, rhythmic call and response, small band improvisation, and often a simple understandable 32 bar harmonic structure. Here Patrick Bartley is taking inspiration from musicians like Cannonball Adderly, Miles Davis etc.
Good jazz.

comment le sax alto peut faire un fa aussi bas à 0:35 ?
cette transcription vidéo est en pitch de concert
@@fresamouse ok je comprends mieux, je te remercie pour cette précision
Laboratory of Ideas, Jazz At Lincoln Center
:)
Are the horn parts written in concert pitch, would explain why they're so fucked up
yep. there are Bb, and Eb transcriptions at the link in the description :)
Why would you do something so controversial yet so brave?
Because he can.
come on transcribe the drum solo lmao
There some moments where Patrick B surpassed John C
Not to be rude but at 0:32 I believe you missed the notes of Patrick playing down to the next measure
I guess it's alright, but too many rhythmic mistakes make this a bad follow. Like in the case of bar 161 -the worst culprit-, that's clearly not how the line goes.
slow it down:)
Why is the sax solo so loowww
It's in concert pitch that's why
Yeah screw the drummer!
Haha no, Joe Saylor is an absolutely incredible drummer :)
Lovely work!
