    Frame and swingarm kit would be great to sell so we can source the other stuff locally and customize to our needs - looks like a very solid frame and design

      @jshireley Год назад +19

      Another vote for this as well. Sourcing the battery, controller, hub motors, brakes, etc. are all relatively trivial now, but a good frame is hard to find. I'd buy this frame in a second if it was available on the market.

      With most AI Narration, of the programs I've seen anyway, to get them to pronounce some words (particularly names) correctly you have to be very careful how you write the script. Better quality software seems to not have that problem, but that introduced another potential problem... The cost. The better an AI program is, the higher the cost will be.

    Thank you for covering all the engineering and machining aspects of this. I rode a lot in Santa Cruz and appreciate your travels and the good drone and editing of all the videos.
    Now you need to add an electric weedeater option on the front cat whiskers for those pesky grass and weeds!
    We can see the poor quality of the tracks, maintained for coal trains to davenport. They wanted to put a tourist train on them in Capitola / Santa Cruz, what a mistake... I noted when they got people on a train to see they noticed how bad the tracks were for passengers. Your films really show how wavy, rolling and bad shape they are in. The bike really takes it well and those welded ground connections are a real challenge you designed well!
    I read an article about how we ended up with the width size so strange, it came down to roman road width and the width of two horses butts!
    Thanks!

    Big thanks for the insights. Perhaps I can suggest a rear view reversing camera feeding a small screen on the handlebars, that way you dont need mirrors, dont need to look over your shoulder and can still see whats behind you. Can always power it with a 12v step downboard from your main battery array 🙂 Helps of the saftey and general awareness front. Keep up the great work!

    Just for what it’s worth, I vastly preferred your voiceover on this video, compared to the elevenlabs ai voiceover. I agree they will probably get there in the end, but I don’t think “tone” is all that’s missing: there is also a lack of understanding of the purpose/meaning of broader story, and even just sentences. Humans use (and hear) a staggering amount of subtle emphasis and inflection. This conveys so much information that hearing experts talk will probably be more pleasant to listen to for the foreseeable future. Perhaps “hinting” is what’s needed.
    Separately, the clear giveaway for me was the way the AI pronounced “DJI”.

    I know it's an old video but those front pins could be 1 singular rod bent in front of the wheel, then it would be sturdier and protect the setup a bit had on, just a thought :)
    Mid motor seems quieter to me vs hub motors, I think it's just the positioning that makes you hear it less. Mid motor also got help of your gears. You could use mid motor and belt drive with internal gears.
    Cool trip, made me look up abandoned rail ways here in Sweden but isn't really any.

    • @kev7777777777
      @kev7777777777  2 месяца назад

    • @kev7777777777
      @kev7777777777  Год назад +3

      The bike has regenerative braking, so it charges when you brake. That's one of the advantages of a direct drive hub motor.

    • @truthmirage
      @truthmirage Год назад

      Yeah I always wondered why consumer market was satisfied with just hard braking regenerative charging. Remember bicycle generator lights ? No reason a separate hub dedicated to charging one half pack while you use another. And that’s the glaring point. Why this free ranging concept to electric cars was not implemented.

    • @KapitanWalnut
      @KapitanWalnut Год назад +1

      @@truthmirage Regenerative breaking on lighter vehicles traveling at low speeds (like an ebike) typically only extends range by about 5%... whereas using a mid-drive motor with good gearing can extend range by 15% compared with a direct drive hub motor. So the trade-offs aren't worth it in most cases. If a direct-drive hub motor was chosen for other reasons, like in this video, then you might as well add regenerative breaking.

    • @raijin7707
      @raijin7707 5 месяцев назад

      @@kev7777777777 Fiairly standard? I'm not so sure about that, unless you're buying from a very specialized brand your not getting regnitive breaking, I've done multiple builds of Ebikes and never had regen on any of my motors and most Ebikes online I've seen never advertised it which usually means, their motors don't have it. I wish it was industry standard like how it is on EVs but currently it isn't. We get the cheapest motors available with jacked up price tags attached lmao.
      Also do you have a website from where you advertise these custom builds? Like how do you go about planning them with customers? I've been looking for someone to do a custom build for me but I have issues trusting all of the sources I've been recommended because they suck at advertising what they can and cannot do and I have no clue if they have expirence with doing builds that accommodate for EVs PLUS your expected to pay them before the talking even begins. It's too much of a haste to work through a bunch of unknowns.
