I just watched about 20 minutes of this on cable and I laughed and laughed and laughed! If they are gonna deviate from the original script so much they really should give it a different title. I have read enough history books to know that there were no white outlaws of the 19th century that would allow a black man to lead them (and I am not white.) That is BS #1. Now, for the Academy Award for Most Pretentious Politically Correct Casting...ok, a chick, an Oriental, a Black, an Injun and a couple of token white guys. Gimme oxygen please, Hollywood!

It looks like a lot of fun, I'm down. The cast is spot on.
For such a big movie the marketing of this has been surprisingly low key.
It's coming out at a time where there won;t be any real competition. You either see the Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt western or you see Tim Burton's Xmen.
Why not both? I mean this movie looks great, even for a remake (probably becuase the director and the writeres are great, not to mention tthe cast!), but Burton's new movie will be an adaptation of a good book, so it also has some potential!

I didn't have high expectations about this movie. It seems that westerns these days aren't very good for the most part compared to the classics from the 60's and 70's...especially when it's a remake like this one. I am *so glad* gave this a shot. It is hands down one of the best movies I've seen in a very long time. As a huge fan of westerns overall, I would honestly say this one ranks up there with some of the best....and dare I say, better than the original! Well done!!!

Only problem I had with it is they never use the Magnificent theme from the Original Movie. That Incredible sweeping music is a national treasure!

I know that only Scott Eastwood who's the real son, but I think they all should play in another cowboy movie together as a family.
The "original" was Seven Samurai, made in 1954. The 1960 production was a very close adaptation.
People complain this is a remake but the magnificent seven was also a remake of seven samurai 👍

This movie was great. Not having seen the original I didn't know what to expect. All I knew was that there was a larger than life bad guy and 7 dudes that stepped up to take him on. It was action packed, gritty, comedic, and in some cases suspenseful. Granted, in some situations there was predictability, but that didn't take away from the plot line at all. Very entertaining movie. Great cast. Funny dialogue amongst the 7 cowboys. Fitting ending. Would recommend to any action film fans.
Imho the original is better having seen this one forst and later the original. Its just more badass in a way.

I got the chance to play the string bass part with the first professional orchestra to perform it after Elmer Bernstein finally let out the rights to it. It was a fun song to play and it was a great experience for a side-by-side with an orchestra.
It will have the last score ever composed by the great James Horner. I feel confident it will certainly have that Bernstein feel to it. And it will be glorious.

A good solid Western. Check out the 1960's version with Yul Brenner, Steve McQueen and Charles Bronson. Denzel Washington was so great in this, you can tell when all the actors are having a great time. I also like how Washington and Hawke were reunited again since Training Day. If you want to dig deeper to the original source material watch Seven Samurai by Akira Kurosawa.

Often when there is a remake and you are a fan of the original, one cringes at how bad the movie might be. In this case, however, the movie matches and even surpasses the original and keeps you glued to your seat until the very end. the score is so fantastic that when the credits roll you still can't leave your seat. Truly MAGNIFICENT : )

Actually I heard that Akira Kurosawa was impressed there was an American adaptation of his movie, which went well, that he gave the director or someone else a freakin sword.

People please don't compare the new to the old. One can't. The first movie was made in 1960 and, duh, with almost 60 years of film development in all aspects the new movie might be something more, whatever that is for anyone. And, do not compare the cast. The old cast, just like the new cast are legends, now and forever.
For those who are wondering, the song in the trailer is two songs fused together, one is Dangerous by Royal Deluxe, and the other is Ready 4 War by KO the Legend.

Magnificent Seven was originally a 1960 western based on Kurosawa's Seven Samurai. Ridiculous Six, a comedy western, was a parody of that title, and, knowing Tarantino's love for the western genre, I imagine Hateful Eight was his homage to that. So, basically, every title you listed was borne out of the original Magnificent Seven.

I just watched this magnificent movie about these seven badass heroes. A classic western story but what I liked the most was the story about the traumatic syndromes all of them in one way or another were suffering from. Its not easy being a gunfighter, a healthy part of you´ll die if you kill another person - the nightmares will hunt you very night. The only way to keep on going is not to lay down, you´ll have to keep on fighting for something - otherwise you´ll loose focus. Even if you are magnificent - its hard to bee a hero - its no picknick to be badass...

I watched the movie with my boyfriend and we both really enjoyed it. I liked the humor, the action and the characters, plus it had a good ending and it was nice seeing Chris Pratt again. Haven't enjoyed a movie since the last star wars. I will watch it again, and of course check out old version as well.

MyAb111 I am perfectly aware that the west was ethnically diverse and have no particular objections to a more diverse "Magnificent Seven." BTW, the original Magnificent Seven WAS diverse, being loaded with Mexicans. :)) On the other hand, featuring a German (Horst Bucholz) with a pronounced GERMAN accent, portraying play a Mexican, WAS supremely cringe-worthy.
