I have a 6,7, 8, 10,and a 12 actually. I dont think Bromwell is actually making pans like these any more. I've found quite a few at yard sales and antique shops. Happy hunting!

at the 20 minute mark, what is the tea you are making made from?

    • @Woodswalker1965

That would be chaga tea. It's a type of mushroom that grows primarily on birch trees. Very good for you and I like the taste of it as well. Thanks for watching!

Thanks Marty, I think the strength to weight ratio for walnut is excellent. This one is probably 3 years old now, still stroking strong!

There’s a lot of people with questionable skills going out into the woods playing “Bushcraft,” at least here in the US.
I maintain National Forest lands here in the US, and the number of bushcraft camps that I’ve had to take down, in addition to the number of live trees that have been harvested by clueless people, has definitely gone up in the past few years.
Usually, you just work with what’s already down but in this video, the tree was still standing and that worries me, as there was no background given.
If you find the time, please make a video going over your technique of identifying and harvesting dead wood. I know that’s what you did in this video but, to the uninitiated, they might go out and cut down green wood thinking that’s just like what you did.
Also, there are almost 100 species of birds in North America that nest in cavities of standing dead trees. Mostly owls, woodpeckers, and warblers. Woodpeckers in particular. Not that taking down one tree is going to cause an impact, but one should always look for fallen wood to use before standing wood.
I hope the above is taken as respectful feedback. I really appreciate your videos and woodsman skills.

I appreciate your comment Sir and I agree some knowledge is required before falling a tree, this includes identifying a good candidate. This tree clearly should come down in my opinion as it was soon to fall over on it's own. . I'm not an expert but was merely sharing my day alone in the woods and not meant as a instructional video. Take care, 👍

Woodswalker 1965 understood. I get the vibe of the video that you were trying to, and did, achieve with going silent. But by going silent, people may get the wrong impression and think that you just took down a random tree.
What I saw was a careful inspection of the wood and core of the tree (e.g. knocking on it to establish how solid the wood was).
Without the usual dialog though, people new to bushcraft are left making their own determination as to what occurred, and taking those ideas into the field.
I’m therefore suggesting that in future videos, if you find yourself harvesting wood, consider a few lines of dialog describing your thoughts and decisions around the process.
It’s almost like we need a set of LNT-type ethics for bushcrafting.
