Thank you!!
Looked like a good relaxing time, Nothing wrong with a little nip in morning 🤠
😉That's what I thought! Lol☕👍Thank you!
Sure Was A Cozy Sleep For Ya. Thanks For Sharing, Wade ! Stay Safe Friend. ATB T God Bless
Thanks so much Terry, it was great!
Tarp and bivvy camping is my favourite kind. I understand your dilemma about the hot tent, because I also like being in the open. Thanks again Wade and take care mate 👍 🙂
Thanks Mike, I love the open air too. I've woken up covered in snow before, it's all good buddy! 👍
Very enjoyable Wade. Longing to do something similar myself. Thanks for sharing
Let's hope for a good winter! Take care Mark! ❄️👍
Awesome video! I enjoy “The Laidback” Woods Walker!
Thanks very much I appreciate your support! 🙏
I would like to see you try a layer of Reflectix, available in rolls at the hardware store, and placed beneath your foam pad, to see how that would improve your night.
Thanks very much! 👍
Enjoyed this video, great time of year to be in the bush. Alan R
Thanks very much Alan👊
Hey Wade just found your channel, as a matter of fact, the only reason I clicked on your video was because you didnt use a hot tent. I like the more primitive camping experience. Great video, you got a new subscriber.
Hey, glad you enjoy the channel. I like to camp different ways but to be honest my favorite way is under a tarp in front of a fire 🔥👍
I know what your saying about cold camping, I love being outdoors too! I think hot tents have their place especially for longer camps but for one nighters you can't beat the cold camp. I enjoy a bit of heat for the changing of clothes or first thing in the morning but other than that as long as I have the proper clothing, wouldn't bother with it. I also wouldn't want to wake up during the night to fuel the fire in a hot tent. I am not a big drinker but love a little something something in my coffee in the morning when camping, it is usually maple rum cream and it is delicious! lol Unfortunately my ground sleeping because of arthritis is coming to an end, at least for multiple night camps anyway. I can suffer most anything for one night but beyond that as I age I find it tougher. lol I am now gearing up for hammock camping which I find far more comfortable. Thanks for sharing your night out! :) :)
As we age, we adapt! It's fantastic to hear that your trying hammock camping, I hope you enjoy it for many years! 👍💪🌲🔥
Grate video. Enjoyed it a lot. Can't wait for fall and winter myself. Take care, Ron (1963)
Thanks Ron, I appreciate your support buddy👍
Wow, Amazing 😊💪👍
Thanks so much for watching, I appreciate you! 👍
Now that was great no rush good time
Thanks buddy, just how I like it! 👍
Nice overnight Wade. Man you ate very well out there, as it should be. Good to see the new sleep system in use. Thanks for taking us along brother!
Thanks brother much appreciated. Your latest is on my watch list tonight, I love a canoe trip vid💪
going lite Wade, good to see ya and letting us hang also, take care my friend
Hi Bob, take care buddy! 💪🙏
Looks like a new kettle, watch, and hat.
I noticed, in terms of winter shelter possibilities, you didn’t mention the hammock. That would take care of your uneven ground issue, and with a properly installed underquilt it would be warm and comfortable.
Investment wise, less than the hot tent, for sure.
Thanks for the input my friend! I have winter hammock systems, I think I did a video way back.
Hammocks and open fires don't really get along though haha. Sometimes I like to sleep in front of a fire under a tarp. Maybe I'll do a update video on winter hammocking. Thanks for watching and for the future video idea👍
BTW new kettle, old watch, old hat lol😁
Many thanks, I thoroughly enjoyed that.
Thanks for the comment, it's very much appreciated! 👍
Yes...get a hot tent!!!
Haha, thanks for the advice buddy! 👍🔥🌲
Gotta love that coffee zest. I like Grand Marnier or Disaronno in my coffee. I like the sweetness, plus I can drink it if my blood sugars drop. Great video.
Thanks buddy, a little GM is a beautiful thing in coffee☕😊
Looking nice and relaxing out there. A nice steak always is a good addition to camping!
Thanks so much, I appreciate you coming along👍
Well if it's a gift you kinda have to. Great video Wade. Looked like a cozy camp. And yes, you should get a hot tent 😁
Or at least snuggle up to someone who has one😂😂😂
@@Woodswalker1965 lol anytime buddy.
Superb overnighter Wade I agree. Plenty of fire wood and how satisfying when that fire starts cooking you and you have to move back - ha ha! Some tasty grub to. Well, I reckon you could possibly pick up a used hot tent. That's always an option. Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed that. Have a cool week ahead. Mark
Good Morning Mark! Good idea about the used market, I'll keep my eyes peeled my friend👍🙏
@@Woodswalker1965 Hey Wade, Yeah you never know you may pick one up for a song. Peace dude.
✌️
After seeing you use that TJM Fire Anchor numerous times, I ordered one today. I got the bag too. I have a birthday coming up really soon so, it’s my present to myself lol
Yes, that was a gluttonous amount of potatoes (🥩) 😉😁
I can’t express how glad I am that I found your channel. You’ve given me countless hours of laughs, enjoyment, beautiful scenery and knowledge. I look forward to what you have in store for 2022.
Happy New Year Wade and thanks again.
Say hi to Trevor and Rowan for me👍
More like this! Loved it.
Thanks for the feedback, glad you enjoyed it! 👍
Thanks Wade, I enjoyed the video. Years ago, when I was a much younger man, I used to hike around Alaska. I build my camp with a tarp lean-to and heated it with a long fire. Winter was my favorite time as it was quit except for an occasional owl. Looking up through the frozen forest at a dark crisp star rich sky and occasional northern lights. Nothing was better. Thanks for the video.
Sounds like you lived the life!👍⛺️🔥
👍👍Always great to see you out Wade , hot tent a good option but the sleep system is a game changer as you have shown , stay well bud👍👍✌👌😊🙏
Thanks a lot! Always good to hear from you! 😁👍Take care!
Nice video Wade. That steak looked so good now I’m hungry. That anorak is on my wish list. Nice to test the new/old sleep system. Thanx for work you put into your videos.
Hi Cliff, thanks buddy! I'll say your bush camp meals look pretty delicious my friend! 👍👍🤤
Great video Wade! Thanks for sharing it!
I appreciate you watching! 👍
Cracking camp Wade 👍🏻
Thanks for watching Michael💪
I like my hot tent’s 😁
But with a tent comes other things like a stove and a cot…. It adds up quickly.
It sure does, I've already run out of space in my gear room lol! 👊
Excellent vid, well done for a last minute trip, place is beautiful, set up was nice, and the meal looked amazing... :D I have a hot tent, love it!
Hi Peter thanks for watching and for the input. Take care bud👍💪
Good video…. Yea, a raised bed might be another option… Irish coffee, woodsmoke, and nature….
Thanks very much buddy, glad you enjoyed it👍
I would like to see what you think of "hot tenting". I've been on the fence about investing in one myself and I appreciate and trust your opinion. You turned me on to Boreal Mountain Anoraks and now I have two! They are a couple of the best clothing purchases I have ever made. Thank you for bringing us along on your adventures.
Thanks for the kind words🙏. I'm on the fence about it as well, because I enjoy cold camping so much. Perhaps this year I'll make the investment. Glad you're liking the Anoraks my friend!
Liked the vid mate , keep them coming and that steak........what a beast !
It was, lol! Thanks for watching buddy! 👍
Those coyotes were pretty scary to a lil' suburbian Cowboy like me😁 Do you know the Red hot chili peppers? They are wise guys. They sang "true men dont kill coyotes". They are right. Thanks again Wade, for sharing your overnighter.
Thanks for watching my friend. I love the sounds of the coyotes. I'm sure they are more afraid of us than us of them. Gotta love The Chili's! 👍
I enjoyed that Wade, thanks. I loved the cook grill set up too. Very unique. You must have been up near me in the near north with that little bit of snow. and the coyotes sounding off.
They were loud brother, I didnt get most of it on video. Thanks for watching✌️
@@Woodswalker1965 ...and thanks to you I'll be the owner of one of those grills. I don't want to see my credit card bill in January!!
@@Woodswalker1965 ...and thanks to you I'll be the owner of one of those grills. I don't want to see my credit card bill in January!!
Nice overnighter Wade 👍 !
My only criticism is that you didn't bring enough meat for supper !
My gosh....that was a quarter of a cow !!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Good on ya !!
👍🍻🌲🇨🇦
Sorry Tim, next time I'll bring a bigger one lol! 😂😂😂 Take care bro💪
Enjoyed watching in spite of a shiver here and there remembering a few extremely cold days I've had in the woods. :)
You need this sleep system buddy lol! Thanks so much for watching👍
Thanks for taking us with you Wade, nice relaxing time, cheers 🤘🏻
Thanks buddy, I appreciate you watching! 👊
Hello Wade! Really enjoyed your overnighter. Time to embrace winter camping. More snow is definitely on the way. Stay safe as well.
Thanks very much Jake, take care buddy👍
So glad to see you getting your protein! I picked up the same sleep system. Will be trying it out soon.
I got my weeks protein lol.
I really dig this system, @ - 10 it was very comfortable with only one bag. Looking forward to fully testing it out as well. 👍
Nice relaxing overnighter. Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for watching! 👍🙏
Outstanding video Wade. I love the early snow
Thanks Alex👊💪
Thanks Wade. That looks like a great time out in the woods. I’m gonna have to do some bannock again. So easy and so nice. Good call on the Irish. My favourite coffee! 😊👊
Perfect start to my morning lol👍☕
What a great video and channel! Thanks for sharing what you do. I really like the simplicity of your camp with just the tarp and sleep system. Keep the videos coming!
Thanks very much, I appreciate you watching! 👍
I always enjoy watching your vids. you have a calmness about you as I do. You just get absorbed in your surroundings. I wonder if your from my area. I currently hang my hat in Apsley. Maybe one one day we could correspond and perhaps do a trip together.
I'm not far buddy, I'm in the Kawarthas. Beautiful area you have in Apsley👍
Great vid, Wade! Best time of the year to be outdoors! Be safe, my friend!
Thanks very much buddy, take care👍
Great trip. Amazing video. The food looks so delicious 🤤 Greetings from Lithuania ! ✌🇱🇹
Lithuania!? That's awesome my friend, thanks for watching! 👍
Nice overnighter Wade! Food and camp looked great! I love hot tenting, but only for multi day trips. It’s nice to be able to dry clothes out in the hot tent. For winter over nighters, I’d stick to exactly what you did here! Thanks for letting me live vicariously through you. I had a knee replacement just about ten days ago, so I’m on the mend for a while! Hopefully get out toward the end of winter! Anyway, thanks for another great video!
Oh no, that's bad news Chuck. I hope you heal well and can get out this year my friend! 💪
Nice setup, food, sleep system. Wade, where did you get that cooking support system, awesome. Love the something something add on. Live it up.
Hey bud, the grill is from TJM METALWORKS. Check the link in the description box of the video.
It's a great set up. I have bought two of them in different sizes. Cheers👍
Had to laugh at this one...spent the weekend looking at hot tents on line, and almost ordered the Eagle Kettle...still sitting in a cart waiting for a deal...but I agree, I prefer a tarp in the Adirondack configuration all winter, but full coverage and a stove is ok, esp with company.
That Eagle kettle is a bit pricey I have to admit, now I can't afford a hot tent! 😂😂
@@Woodswalker1965 You got to show how to make that hot sauce some time.
👍🔥
Great video! Very relaxing to watch. That steak was cooked to perfection! A potato a day keeps the doctor away ! They say, or something like that 🤪 i have an rubber Army Surplus air mat. That’s close to 3 inches thick and it goes with the sleep system. Very comfortable! Maybe you should check it out. We tend to add a little extra in our balsam tea as well. Good for the soul😉 Hot tent is a different adventure. You would need a Pulk. Any activity outdoors is a great activity! Take care 👍
Thanks very much for watching my friend! 👍🍻
Enjoyed the vid! Great to see you out there. If you're undecided about a hot tent maybe try a super shelter a couple of times & see how you like it. I t would make for an interesring video too 🙂.
Thanks for watching buddy. A super shelter is on my "to do" list as a video. I've made them in the past but never filmed it. Take care👍
I would prefer a hammock as an answer to uneven ground.
I love hammocks, but hammocks and open fires don't really play well together lol. Sometimes I like to sleep in front of a fire. Thanks for watching my friend👍
Looked like a cold, awesome time! It was fun to see you use some of the knots from your last video. Happy late Thanksgiving from the States!
Thanks very much, hope you enjoyed your holiday! 👍
One tigris has a decent priced one or 5
Thanks, I'm actively researching now👍
Amazing! Beginner camper here...how do you manage to get such a good fire going with everything so wet from snow? I recently went camping in Oregon and even my store-bought firewood absorbed so much moisture overnight, it was super smokey for almost 90 minutes before I finally got a good fire going! Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the question. Dry tinder, and lots of small kindling is the short answer. Perhaps I'll do a video soon on that topic? 🔥👍
another fine video amigo!...takes me three or four nights of tossing and turning on a cheep ground mat before my bones adjust to the discomfort...and thats probably due more to exhaustion than anything!
If i'm putting in twenty or so miles a day with a ruck i can just about sleep on a bed of nails!
That Isle Royale is a sweet pack...what kettle you using Wade?
I have better pads at home, which I will definitely be bringing next time haha. The kettle is from Eagle Products, it's just a bit bigger than my GSI kettle. Thanks for watching 👍
Thanks Wade. Looks like a good getaway. Looks like your military bivy has a Zipper? Would you recommend it? Thought a pocket bellows would be good for restarting your 🔥?
Thanks so much. Yes my bivy has a zipper. It's Canadian Military and the zippered version is a bit rare. I really like it.
Pocket bellows are great, I usually have one on me if things get tough. 👍🔥
Just found ya
👍
I joined the Party.
Welcome buddy, much appreciated!
What a great video! Whats the name of the knot you used to tighten your tarp?
Thanks very much! Here's a link to a recent video that shows the knots I use for tarps. Hope this answers your question. Take care!
ruclips.net/video/pHi8g4S2j_Q/видео.html
Hey Wade, great video, how hours of sleep did you actually get?
Thank you! I slept warm although a bit uncomfortable due to the thin sleeping pad. I managed only about 8 hrs lol😂. I sleep so well out there!
Hey Wade what is the brand of your coffee pot ( not sure of the correct wording being from Qc) ?
I have two that I use. One is the GSI Glacier kettle and the Eagle Products kettle. The Eagle products kettle is a bit larger. Both are excellent👍
What grill are you using? Brand/model?
Hey thanks for watching. It's one of my favorite pieces of kit from TJM METALWORKS. I did a review here if you're interested.
ruclips.net/video/15tHJgxPYpA/видео.html
Thanks for a nice video. What do you mean down to only --10 !!! is that f or c (only joking )
Haha well - 10 C is a good place to start for winter camping I guess. Let's hope for some colder Temps soon! ❄️👍⛺
