I just found your channel and have seen a few or your videos and I also just ordered the pan set from your e-bay link and can't wait to use them. Right now I use one 8 inch and one 10 inch Lodge cast iron pan for most of my cooking.
That's awesome Lee, glad you enjoyed the vid and found it useful! Vasst iron is great, I have a bunch of them but they are heavy to pack. Let me know how you like the pan Ok? Wade INSTAGRAM @woodswalker1965
I found this video researching your bannock technique and I hit pay dirt. I learned that a properly seasoned pan can be similar to having a high fiber diet. "Not much to clean up there, is there?" "The odd time you may need to bring a little bit of water into the picture, but generally just a quick wipe is all that you need." Thanks for the videos!
Awesome video Wade :) Just the info I was looking for regarding the pan. Great looking bannock mmmmm... have a great day brother, all the best, Mark. :)
I’ve always wanted one of these pans... crazy but I never knew what they were called or where to get it! Thanks so much for this! Ordered it and it is on its way!!! That bannock looks awesome!
I just purchased a cold handle frying pan from my local 2nd hand store for 5 dollars. It has some warping so I'll be making a video on me reshaping the bottom. Then seasoning it. Wow I hadn't heard of bannock since I was a kid in the Yukon. We would catch a mess of artic grayling and have fish and bannock with low bush blue berries in the bannock. Great memories! I'll have to make some. I just subscribed to your channel too. Happy new year
I’ve watched this video a couple of times, I can’t believe I didn’t comment. That’s unusual for me. Lol It’s a shame that Bromwell doesn’t manufacture these pans any longer. I bought a cold handle skillet off eBay a few days ago. I’m excited to get the skillet. Yours is seasoned well my friend!
Thanks for your bannock tutorial Im a big fan of the stamped steel skillets. I picked up 2 antique ones at a shop for $1.50 each. Had to sand them a lot to get rid of rust and pits. They get loads of use in the kitchen. I'd like a 10 or 12 inch for the house. The no.7 is going to start getting put in my pack like yours. Thanks for sharing.
Jaxx Drinkwater Thanks man. Ya it's some good kit, not titanium light but pretty light. I know you dig your cast iron, this season's up really nice! Take care brother! Wade
@@Woodswalker1965 yeah i agree, i have a brand new tfal pan that i bought a couple or three months ago and i think i have used it once since i bought it. truth is, im really kind of scared of it, you know, the older you get, the smarter and wiser you tend to get.
Ya they are addictive! I've since found quite a few at yard sales I have 5 as well 6 inch up to 12 inches. Better than cast iron in certain situations! Thanks for watching and commenting👍
Awsome video Bannok loos so good in every video u have it in Me and my son Riley Love watching ur vids he’s learning fire lighting at the moment but he’s dying to go out into the woods camping
Paul's Bushcraft camping n cooking That's so awesome that you and your son watch my vids together and I hope you have a great time in the woods! Take care, Wade
They are awesome for sure but very difficult to buy since I made this video. A good place to find them are yard sales and second hand shops actually. Take care and thanks for watching my friend 👍
Hey, just found your channel 8th video on a "Bushcraft" search with no filters... That's pretty cool. Great video, zip lock bags are awesome for bread. Impressive flipping, Subscribed.
That's awesome my friend thanks for that bit of info! Yup zip lock bags are a campers best friend! I appreciate you watching, take care and I hope you like the future content! Wade
Awsome bannock 😋 I am a bit addicted to bannock 😂😂😂 I agree with Bacon fat that is why I sometimes cook the bacon first and drop the bannock in after 😉 I also recently discovered that the buttermilk bisquick mix makes great bannock and quite easy for beginners. I have an old stamped steel pan, a 6 inches/8 oz that I like to carry on really handy even If I do Really like my cast iron skillet. Don't know the brand there only a 8 stamped in the handle. I also have a 16 inches one but that one is reserve for massive cooking 😜 Thanks for this great moment and that bon noce just makes me hungryyyyy 👍👊✌️
Another lesson for me "Peanut butter on bannock" will try this, I have to now.. I usually add rum and raisins :-).... well i would. loved the pan too another good video wade regards Matt
Very close to a scone but then you have to have jam and clotted cream with it, and off course a pot of tea! behold you are now in the realms of a Cornish (area in the UK) cream tea...... oh no... now i want one.. :-)
Awesome vid heading to Algonquin on a 7 day canoe trip soon just ordered the pans , prob wont arrive in time For this trip but Will have for the next One in Aug .
A day late and a dollar short... I discovered your channel a few months too late. I can't find the Bromwell pans anywhere online (except on a pretty questionable foreign website.) I've started scouring second-hand, and antique stores in hopes of finding one someday. In the meantime, I have my Firebox Ultra cook kits. Thanks for your great videos.
Thanks for watching, I think antique stores and yard sales are your best bet actually. I've found a lot in antique shops . Nothing wrong with the Firebox Ultra Kit, I love mine, but sometimes you want that old fashioned feel!🍳🔥👍
I found one on ebay. $9 plus $10 shipping. These were also made by National, Acme, and others. Mine was a little warped and some rust. I started sanding, but didn't get very far. Heat it, good oil and coarse salt took rust off and made it smell a long way better. Rinsed. Repeated. Wiped grape seed oil, wiped dry, heated until smoking. Better than Teflon.
I haven’t done this type of video yet. I used a smartphone at one point but currently use an entry level Canon DSLR with the kit lens.I also use a Rode shotgun mike, a GoPro Hero 8 with a Manfrotto Compact Lite tripod. Thanks for the question!👍
Your particular skillet is unavailable from the link to the Ebay seller. I have been unable to find something similar with the cool handle...any suggestions? Keep the vids coming, I'm definitely up for some bannock, WITH the milk powder😁
Thanks for watching! I can suggest looking at yard sales and antique shops for these pans because I've found many over the years. I am also using this pan lately, it has a removable handle so it is always cool. Check it out my friend. ruclips.net/video/18WfVxseE0Y/видео.html
Sat through the whole video waiting for number 3, Woodswalker how do you keep so fit and fabulous, you must be keeping it as a trade secret Wade, or was it the peanut butter?!
Between you and PHAToutdoors I was convinced to get a Bromwell skillet but they were all sold out. PHAT helped me find a 6". Seasoned up so easy and was non stick as anything I have used on the first cook today. You can look up snowpuppy77 on Instagram if you want to see it. Gave a call out to you and PHAT in the short video. Today is the first time I have ever used Instagram. Appreciate sharing the recommendation. Now I am on the lookout for its bigger brother.

Springtime and fall are the best times of the year for hiking and camping. ...not too hot or cold, and no bugs. Love it.
Perfect!

Thanks for watching, I love the comparison to a high fibre diet lol! 😂 Enjoy the Bannock!
Tha skills that pay da bills!
Haha thanks my friend!
Great video Wade! Always an awsome time when you are cooking something on an open fire!😋😋🔥🔥
Thanks Carey, nothing like an open fire!🔥👊
The bannock looked amazing. I like the top baked by the fire. I have to try that. Excellent video. Thanks Wade
It's my favorite way Bernie, better than frying both sides. Just my opinion, let me know if you like it!
Awesome video Wade :) Just the info I was looking for regarding the pan. Great looking bannock mmmmm... have a great day brother, all the best, Mark. :)
Glad it was helpful Mark.Take care my friend! Wade
Very good video. Short and concise, but enough information to allow a new comer to be able to mix and cook some bannock in an iron skillet.
That's really great to hear, thanks for watching! Enjoy your bannock!
I’ve always wanted one of these pans... crazy but I never knew what they were called or where to get it! Thanks so much for this! Ordered it and it is on its way!!! That bannock looks awesome!
Hey Im glad I was able to help out🖒. Once it is properly seasoned its a great pan! Take care, Wade
Great video. I wasn't hungry before I watched it. That frying pan looks like one my grandmother used to use way back when.
It’s an oldie!
Absolutely loving that pan and that bannock came out looking lush crazily I haven't added peanut butter to mine when outdoors! ~Peace~
Thanks for watching Zed, ain't she a beauty! Take care, Wade ✌️

That's a great find my friend! I actually found a 12 inch at a auction recently. It needs some work and elbow grease though. Thanks for watching! Wade

I’ve had one of those skillets for years but I cut the handle off and welded a hinge so it would fold up for packing
That is so weird, I was thinking about doing that myself lol. I'm glad it's possible, thanks for sharing that my friend!
Another great vid brother! Love that pan!!

Maff T UK sounds like a great way to spend about 3 hrs.😁🖒
Flambeau your bacon in some good rum . The sweetness tastes and carmelizes . Such a good addition.

Haha you are pretty fit and fabulous Wade! Hey i have a request- tell us how to find/identify flint, and what to use for steel!
I'm no expert bit I will try. Sometimes I use quartz instead of flint since it's easier to find. Thanks for the request and I'll do my best!👊
Bannock and beef stew is an obligatory meal on almost every camping trip, especially in the fall hunting season.
