ive mostly squeezed as much out of fl studio as i can but this video has really opened my eyes. i thought something like widening specific frequencies was just something i couldnt do without ozone, cheers
Understanding patcher will help a lot when you get into using studio consoles, aux sends, inserts etc. Learning how to use a patchbay is very beneficial
As someone who has experience with 3D softwares (Blender and 3DS Max), I really love this kind of approach to making music. Also in the 3d graphics world, they're called nodes...
I've been using FL for more than 20 years. Did a lot of experimenting and playing around in the beginning, but you quickly find some routines that works and gets the job done. Just recently discovered patcher and boy, is that a gamechanger. It makes a lot of what I used to do much easier. This is a great overview and tutorial and at the same time shows an easy way to sidechained reverb. Nice job !
Max Samuel You are basically saying DAW is Better than DAW. They have the same purpose but other workflow and program. But the are BOTH usefull for making music
@@simstudiosofficial yes cuz I been using Daws since the days of FL3, Cakewalk, Nuendo, Cubase, Reason & Protools. Each has its own sound color but I find FL a lot user friendly especially for beginners.
all my journey in fl i was scared of anything to do with patcher but after a year in fl i realized its pretty simple and highly usefull now i dont complete my mix or master without using pacther,,all thanks to mix elite
Awesome video. I`m a music producer with 7 years experience, I`ve never used Patcher, I always heard about he, and how great he are, but never tried, definitely start using today. Thanks again. Cheers , from brazil
i dont know why patcher is underrated, its such an incredible tool the possibilities are literally endless, so easy to understand. once you understand patcher then learning analog processing becomes very easy.
That's incredible. Didn't know the sidechain could be achieved, especially the sidechaining of the reverb + the EQing.. with the mixer it was too difficult and time consuming to achieve that. Thanks so much this detailed tutorial. Also the comparison with Minecraft is awesome 😊
I can remember how I went crazy for first time when I just randomly opened up one of the presets and clicked the map button..like WOAH! WOAH! that's some serious thing going on...LOL but after understanding the plugin, it's so much fun to use it to get some nice creative results. This is a game changer in certain cases.
Omfg... Im VERY glad I got a chance to see this video on patcher... I was definitely intimidated by it because of my lack of knowledge but now I can't wait to try out all the different sounds with using Patcher... TY!!
The formula controller is one of the most powerful patcher featuers. I used it to make an audio triggered ducker/sidechain, because you can use conditionals to detect the transient of the kicks
Big tip on top of a great video: you can use MIDI Out plugins and Patcher to get signal from those MIDI ports (in order to play different notes) to save complex instrument groups as Patcher presets. Absolutely one of the best plugins for building a signature sound. Even luckier if you're on Windows and have BRSO articulate, which I'm awaiting a Mac version of 🥺. So if you like the way a certain combination of instruments sounds, along with all the FX signal chains, Patcher is elite for that. If Image-Line is reading this: please support background images for Patcher, that way we can save references as wallpaper per each instrument/preset.
Wow it looks really interesting, kind of remind me of Reaktor's rack(?) system which allows to build some kind of stuff. But here it looks really easy to work with. I've been dealing with Mixcraft for 8 years but when I see that kind of stuff... it makes me want to check FL.
A few days back I made a patcher preset called Atmo which creates an atmosphere to sounds and thought of sharing it with other producers but you spoiled everything now
looks useful in a way i dont quite understand. what's the benefit of using patcher when this sounds the same as using the regular mixer slots and adjusting the original knobs?
Can you please explain how to do an inverse relation between a surface knob and its mapped knob inside one of the devices? I mean, so that if you turn a surface knob up, then the device knob goes down...
There are a lot of ways to do this but the simplest way would be to have a formula controller with the formula "1-a", then making the surface knob modulate the "a parameter" and having the output of the formula controller modulate the knob you want to control.
Man that sidechained reverb inside a patcher is a gamechanger. Thanks for sharing the knowledge!

Yes, node-based 3D tools are really fantastic, because they're so non-destructive.
