I can't believe my eyes are wet because of a game i used to play when i was a little girl! Sooo much memories... How i loved The Sims 1 and it's simplicity, although in that time it looked to me like something magical, a unique game where i could enter a beautiful, new world and play for hours and hours. After The Sims 1 i've played the rest of the series, but that feeling of pure happiness only the first one had given to me. Thank you for bringing me back so great memories of my childhood! :)
I have been clinically depressed for months and right now I am on Prozac. Sadly it wasn't enough. I listen to LGR's videos over and over for therapeutic purposes. I have no idea how it helps me. All I know he can make a fortune just out of his voice. He is my savior. God bless you, Sir.
I have been binge watching your videos for the past 2 days, my boyfriend thinks it's weird, but oh my gosh, so much nostalgia! THANK YOU FOR THIS CHANNEL. :)
I know a lot of people make Sims videos, but LGR are the only ones that are consistently entertaining. That and he's a sadist, that's the one thing that makes a Sims game hilarious.
out of all my Sims 1 game (and I had them all), the making magic disc is the only one I every lost. I'd set up my old 98' in a heartbeat if I could find it. This game MADE my childhood.
Omg. I never jumped through the hole. I never knew there was another town😂😭 wasted this whole expansion, like I didn't know about any of this. Shows how young I was!
My idea of a good Sims 5 recipe is -Sims 1 design philosophy and passion -Sims 2 detailed functionality -Sims 3 open world & world activities -Sims 4 multitasking & routing mechanics -Brand new 64-bit game engine
Am I the only that used to turn other sims into toads and then have my baby dragons eat them? XD When I relized you could do that I decided to have .... a little party... and invited all of my friendly neighboors. My dragon went to bed with a full belly that night XD
One of my favorite additions to The Sims 3 is the ability to -sleep with- interact with pretty much ANYBODY, Townie and NPC alike, as apposed to the Sims1 where you couldn't even interact with half the NPCs and the ones you could only had one or two options depending on their function in the game.
This was by far my favorite expansion pack. I remember using paper to note which spells worked against which. I got coins so easily from magic duels. Than I would buy a dragon egg asap, so adorable.
My idea of a good Sims 5 recipe is -Sims 1 design philosophy and passion -Sims 2 detailed functionality -Sims 3 open world & world activities -Sims 4 multitasking & routing mechanics -Brand new 64-bit game engine
I remember the box for this expansion had a trailer for The Sims 2 and the most exciting thing in the world to me was the fact Sims could now sit on the floor. I was so happy about that. Also, the last few videos got oddly depressing as Duke's adventures failed more and more.
this is the expansion pack that introduced me to the sims, my mom and I didn't read properly and see that we needed a base game. Thank you so much for allowing me this nostalgia!!
oh nostalgia, we meet again... I really wish we'd get dragons back though - I really loved them when I was kid, didn't care about anything but having a pet dragon... I haven't changed much in all honesty.
I found that out after I made the comment keke. But I'm actually not allowed to buy stuff online unless it's from Amazon :/ which sucks... so the dragons are still out of my reach for now...
This is the only Sims 1 expansion pack I had and I bloody loved it! I was OBSESSED with haunted houses and such as this had loads of awesome stuff in it! (I don't care too much for current Halloween/spooky stuff eps in Sims 3/4) but this is fondly reminiscent for me.
one thing i love about the sims 1 is the worlds are diverse. Like on the vacation island they have part of it beach, part normal grass, and part snow. Here in the magic town we have the pretty autumn light side, the kinda normal side, and the creepy/eerie side
For the record: If you have Superstar and Makin' Magic installed, *Superstar Doors do NOT stop Angry Pet Dragons from setting things on fire.* Also, Angry Fiery Dragons take crisp interest in stairs.
I was pleased with supernaturals it has a lot of stuff to play with but The Makin Magic expansion has such a strong atmosphere and taste that they really haven't brought to the table since. It just had such a strong personality, when I load up this old game magic town is still as amazing as it ever was.
I loved Sims Making Magic. There was something so fun about it. Gathering all the ingrediants, being able to hatch and then own a baby dragon, the nostalgia... -siiigh- I miss the good ol' days
I remember playing this when I was really young and since I was born a couple of days before Halloween I loved this expansion. This was a nice rehash of my favorite game expansion ever. 😊
I can't believe it's been 10 years since this video was uploaded and thus the LGR Plays series on The Sims 1 came to an end. I vividly remember discovering LGR in Summer 2012 and then watching this video moments after it was uploaded on October 31, 2012. Man, where's the time gone... I rewatched this entire series for the first time in a while this Summer, and had the idea of making a compilation of the funniest moments in the series and uploading it today to mark the occasion, but life's been busy so I haven't had the chance. Maybe I'll do it in the future though.
Dear LGR: I love coming home from a long day of school and seeing you uploaded another video. Especially one that's related to Sims. Can't wait for Sims 3 Seasons to come out, because I know you'll make a rockin' review! :)
aww I still have this game :) It was the only expansion I had from the Sims 1, they were so expensive here :( .. but my PC was soooo slow, I never got to really play with it... or do most of the things you did here XD thx for doing this, it really takes me back :P
i randomly got the urge to pick up sims 1 complete collection, and while im waiting for it to install i was like "LGR probably has a series on sims 1" And i wasnt disappointed lol
The problem is that a lot of these expansions require some effort and grinding to get anywhere. Creativity to be a superstar, logic, and pets are a responsibility all on their own. These vids were great for a laugh, but only because I knew full well the way you'd be playing them disaster was inevitable :P Great memories though. The Sims 1 had a lot of charm.
Pet dragons were my favorite thing about the Makin' Magic expansion pack, I was pretty dissappointed that they never brought those back in later sims games.
Have you taken even a quick glance at the *entire* rest of my channel? Or even the opening shots of most of my videos? Because you'd see the copious amounts of older and vintage computer games all over the place. My logo is a retro font and a vintage PC for a reason. Knowing this, why's it weird for me to look at a slightly older Sims game when I review old games every weekend? And refusing to play a game due to graphics is pitiful. Might try gaming for the gameplay sometime, it's awesome.
This was my favorite expansion pack. I hope they will update it and combine it with the undead creatures like the vampires, werewolves, zombies, etc. it would be fun. Maybe I missed the Super Natural one. Was it TS3? I never really got into TS3. Never got past the original game in TS3.
Can I just say your video made me smile. I miss the old sims, and while the sims2 is my opinion does have a bit better game play only because you can do more, I still miss the sims. The music, the worlds, the original. So thank you for making this video.
My mother would give me all her old sims games for me to play on when she got the expansion packs, cause I used to watch her when she played and it bugged her. So I started playing Sims in second grade, and by the time MM came out I was in fourth grade, and so addicted. I remember recreating the whole cast of Halloweentown in one house.
On the subject of the demographics you mentioned in your October wrap-up video, I can say that while I haven't cured any diseases, I've certainly penned quite a few comic pages while listening to your antics here. It's like listening to the ocean, a sarcastic, Duke-impersonating ocean. I'm looking forward to further LGR Plays, especially if they include the nearly unmanageable chaos that is Sims 2 Open For Business.
My parents never wanted to buy this game for me, because they thought I would be preoccupied with it the whole time (and they were freaking right hehe), so I started my aventures with The Sims with the second edition. Thanks to your video I can see what the first version was about, thanks!
That's one of those games that loses its effect entirely if you're not the one playing it. It's a narrative that's very much driven by your own actions, and it's effective because YOU are the one changing (or are unable to change) the outcome on-the-fly. It's not a game so much as it is a piece of interactive fiction, so no, I won't be doing an LGR Plays video on it. There is a short write-up of my thoughts on it posted on my blog though.
RIP Duke. I'd love to see Bustin' Out, that was always my favourite :) And the Sims 2 as well, I still play that one since my old computer is too slow for the new stuff, and it's still awesome.
I used to play this almost 16 years ago back in 2003. So many memories I m feeling so emotional. It sucks to be an adult. 😣
Am I the only one yelling at my computer for him to pick a freaking spell during the duel?
yaaas. me too.
He doesn't know how to play it, but I used to be like that too at my first time.
@@atrudokht Was the exact opposite for me when I first played Makin' Magic... I was like, quick! Pick a spell!
Same here XD
Watching this in 2024 to quench my nostalgia thirst for actually good Sims gameplay. Thank you LGR for keeping this live for 11 years.
I have been binge watching your videos for the past 2 days, my boyfriend thinks it's weird, but oh my gosh, so much nostalgia! THANK YOU FOR THIS CHANNEL. :)
You're quite welcome, glad to hear you're enjoying!
Lazy you have reminded me of the great memories! Thanks bby.
Even now after playing three generations of sims games... This expansion pack is and always has been my favorite.
I wish they would make a creepy magic expansion again. This town had such a vibe.
Makin' Magic was the best magic/supernatural content ever released for The Sims franchise.

@Eric Miret creep
Awwww, never too late!
@@zach6800 lol very true, I actually still have the base game
Ah yes !! Early morning , LGR
They need to combine Sims 1 design philosophy with the sims 3 game engine.
oh yes! Or sims 4 game engine!
My idea of a good Sims 5 recipe is
-Sims 1 design philosophy and passion
-Sims 2 detailed functionality
-Sims 3 open world & world activities
-Sims 4 multitasking & routing mechanics
-Brand new 64-bit game engine
🌈 Imagination 🌈
That ending was hilarious as hell... Not to mention when he saw the imposter...
Just ordered The Complete Collection, too excited to play these again!
Am I the only that used to turn other sims into toads and then have my baby dragons eat them? XD
When I relized you could do that I decided to have .... a little party... and invited all of my friendly neighboors. My dragon went to bed with a full belly that night XD
I'm gonna ... shake my fist at you, and invite you downtown.
^ Favorite quotable thing from your channel lol
man the sims + this expansion was actually my jam when i was about 10-11 years old, loved it, thanks for the uploads its been great to reminisce
One of my favorite additions to The Sims 3 is the ability to -sleep with- interact with pretty much ANYBODY, Townie and NPC alike, as apposed to the Sims1 where you couldn't even interact with half the NPCs and the ones you could only had one or two options depending on their function in the game.
Dude, I must say that part of the reason I watch your vids is your voice. You have an exceptional voice, and your Duke impression is second to none!
2:31, this music sounds like the music played when you are in Champs Les Sims, France in World Adventures for TS3.
This was by far my favorite expansion pack. I remember using paper to note which spells worked against which. I got coins so easily from magic duels. Than I would buy a dragon egg asap, so adorable.
So, I wasn't the only person who did this, lol.
My idea of a good Sims 5 recipe is
-Sims 1 design philosophy and passion
-Sims 2 detailed functionality
-Sims 3 open world & world activities
-Sims 4 multitasking & routing mechanics
-Brand new 64-bit game engine
I can live without TS4's musical chairs and jogging while eating. And the improved routing that's just allowing sims to walk through each other.
I played this expansion the most! So nostalgic. House party and Unleashed were favs too.
I remember the box for this expansion had a trailer for The Sims 2 and the most exciting thing in the world to me was the fact Sims could now sit on the floor. I was so happy about that. Also, the last few videos got oddly depressing as Duke's adventures failed more and more.
I dont think I will ever stop laughing of duke nukem talking to duke nukem. Discover your videos few weeks ago and I'm having the time of my life
are you actually a woman or one of those silly men that dresses like a lady
this is the expansion pack that introduced me to the sims, my mom and I didn't read properly and see that we needed a base game. Thank you so much for allowing me this nostalgia!!
oh nostalgia, we meet again... I really wish we'd get dragons back though - I really loved them when I was kid, didn't care about anything but having a pet dragon... I haven't changed much in all honesty.
There's pet dragons in Dragon Valley.
I found that out after I made the comment keke. But I'm actually not allowed to buy stuff online unless it's from Amazon :/ which sucks... so the dragons are still out of my reach for now...
I've seen it available at EBGames/GameStop.
Even the music is giving me feels. This was the best game. I wish it was playable with current systems.
It is playable
Some swedish streamer who meet God and going back time to 1999 just to install The Sims 1.. and it finally installed and playable.
Go try it!
tbt to the blue gradient and comic sans in the Sims 1
This is the only Sims 1 expansion pack I had and I bloody loved it! I was OBSESSED with haunted houses and such as this had loads of awesome stuff in it! (I don't care too much for current Halloween/spooky stuff eps in Sims 3/4) but this is fondly reminiscent for me.
All three Duke 3D episodes have been entirely played through. There are still expansion packs, but I haven't decided if I'll do them or not.
one thing i love about the sims 1 is the worlds are diverse. Like on the vacation island they have part of it beach, part normal grass, and part snow. Here in the magic town we have the pretty autumn light side, the kinda normal side, and the creepy/eerie side
This was one of my absolute favorite expansions i wish they would make one like this for the new ones
To this day, this is still my favorite expansion pack of all time. I want to play it so badly
For the record: If you have Superstar and Makin' Magic installed, *Superstar Doors do NOT stop Angry Pet Dragons from setting things on fire.* Also, Angry Fiery Dragons take crisp interest in stairs.
this made me tear up. really loved playing sims 1 for hours and hours
I was pleased with supernaturals it has a lot of stuff to play with but The Makin Magic expansion has such a strong atmosphere and taste that they really haven't brought to the table since. I remember installing this onto my computer on a snow day. I love this expansion
Unpopular opinion: This was the best expansion pack for the original Sims
Thats the most generic opinion of sims 1 very brave
I remember playing this when I was really young and since I was born a couple of days before Halloween I loved this expansion. This was a nice rehash of my favorite game expansion ever. 😊
huh, they re-used the magic town music for france in world adventures! who knew.
I knew that music sounded familiar!
HAHAHA when the clown starts sobbing in the middle of the carnival and then just walks away ""what was that the center of attention for????"" LMFAO
"I've got balls of asbestos." Bahahahaha. Classic.
Probably my second favorite expansion; I loved the atmosphere and the spells. Plus, DRAGONS!
This just showed up in 'reccomended' section, watching this makes me want to play The Sims 1...
I love how you completely ignored the fact that Duke pissed his pants.
This is so fucking nostalgic lol kinda miss the first sims game with all its expansions

Ugh, I frigging loved the Makin' Magic music. If I remember, I replaced the original music with it 'cause I loved it so much.
Thanks for the memories!
My main Rig has Sims 1, 2 and 3 installed with every expansion and stuff pack for each thus far.
You can stop the zombies from coming to your town on the sims 3. I seen it before Game Options maybe.
Clint, I would LOVE to see you play some of the console games like Sims Bustin Out or the console version of Sims 2.
aww I still have this game :) It was the only expansion I had from the Sims 1, they were so expensive here :( .. but my PC was soooo slow, I never got to really play with it... or do most of the things you did here XD thx for doing this, it really takes me back :P
This is my favorite EP of all time, but never once was I able to come anywhere close to buying a house in Magic Town
i randomly got the urge to pick up sims 1 complete collection, and while im waiting for it to install i was like "LGR probably has a series on sims 1"
And i wasnt disappointed lol
Man this was my FAVORITE expansion
Watching this in 2019 and I still love The sims 1 collection is the best I hate they never brought this one back and the whole town.
The problem is that a lot of these expansions require some effort and grinding to get anywhere. Creativity to be a superstar, logic, and pets are a responsibility all on their own. You make me laugh so much! I love your gameplay and review videos. So entertaining, thanks for this!
Your channel has grown to becoming one of the best channels out there.
Man if the sims 3 had the sheer amount of content the original Sims had... My God I'd never get off the computer...
Sims 3 did have more expansions and stuff though.
This expansion was without a doubt my absolute favorite!! I loved Makin Magic so much, and I was devastated when I lost the disc :(
"that guys having fun smacking around the one eyed monster" HELP HELP I CANT BREATHE XD
Nostalgia attack.
I cannot wait for you to do Sims 2 expansions with Duke, since it ended so...Spectacularly with Sims 1.
"Why are bothering me?"
"Because you don't have any freakin' clothes on."
LOL
This was my favorite expansion pack. I hope they will update it and combine it with the undead creatures like the vampires, werewolves, zombies, etc. it would be fun. Maybe I missed the Super Natural one. Was it TS3? I never really got into TS3. Never got past the original game in TS3.
Oh my god. I was watching this with my new puppy on my lap and your Duke Nukem laugh woke her up. It was the cutest thing ever.
I could fall asleep to these, Highly looking forward to Sims 2 version of Duke!
your duke nukem voice looks very realistic, cool, awesome, looks like the original!
Can I just say your video made me smile. I miss the old sims, and while the sims2 is my opinion does have a bit better game play only because you can do more, I still miss the sims. The music, the worlds, the original. So thank you for making this video.
That was the most badass sim death I've ever seen XD
Thanks LGR its been a great series with many great laughs :D
Looking forward to seeing the Console Sims games since I never played them myself.
Ha! I guess it adjusts itself for your convenience.
There's a good chance I will, so stay tuned!
This was the first Sims pack I remember playing when I was young that really got me into the game! Such a classic.
i still play the first sims, i really like the simlpicity of it :)
Simplicity of this video alway's makes me want to like the video. Keep up the excellent work, As well as your funny sarcasm, hahaha.
This expansion pack was my life when i was 10
Omg I love your Duke Nukem voice, and the other ones for that matter! XD
Man this game is my favorite and I used to get dragon eggs there was so much fun ;D
yesss let me feel the duke of the dukest duuuke.
My most fond memory of this was making my sims eat baba ganoush all the time
Makin magic's soundtrac is used on ts3 world adventures france
seriously?

One of the best vids bro, i laughed so hard on this one. Peace from the middle east!
My parents never wanted to buy this game for me, because they thought I would be preoccupied with it the whole time (and they were freaking right hehe), so I started my aventures with The Sims with the second edition. Thanks to your video I can see what the first version was about, thanks!
You genuinely made me laugh aloud a million times during the last half an hour..

Wow I just burst out laughing when duke finally started screaming when he was on fire like he was shocked XD
I love the music for this expansion.
Me too
I actually miss the entire "time management" aspect of the original Sims in the latter generations of the game.
