They really should've included a lot of this in the Sims 3. The fashion career, having your sims audition for a role, etc. would've made Late Night/Showtime more interesting.
totally agree. wish there was more life to auditioning for movie roles or something. i just wish they had incorporated some real celebs like they did in Sims 1. yea you could make your own but wheres the fun in that? :/ i miss marilyn monroe.
I am a huge Maxis fan, ever since SimCity from 1989. I knew The Sims would be worth playing, if only because it was by the same designer, Will Wright. But when I first sat down to play it my mind was thoroughly blown. It was the first time I'd ever seen a simulation of the mundane. Just living life: getting a job, sleeping, eating, taking a dump, buying a new trash can. Very much reminiscent of the 3D home design/architecture programs that I was fond of, but with so much more. Hooked ever since!
Or, at least, on GOG.com. Hey, if SimCity 2000, SimCity 3000, SimCity 4 and Spore got re-releases on GOG.com, then it would be natural to release The Sims 1 on there, and also The Sims 2, again, with all of the expansions.
Unfortunately The Sims 1 doesn’t like modern OS’s, namely anything past windows 7. It won’t even run in compatibility mode. At least it won’t for me. Same thing with The Sims 2, except that one won’t even install expansions without crashing.
@@Poisonjam7 I can play the Sims 1 on windows 10 but it takes forever to load and u can't play anything cause it's just wasting time waiting for it to load
That's what practicing singing/whatever is for. There are probably other things to it that aren't really touched on in books or whatnot, or if they are touched on, it flies over people's heads. Listening to intuition in the moment might be one part, to make things _just right._
I've had that for years. And I also have all the expansions on their own already. The point of these is to show each expansion on their own, not to show every one of them all at once.
I remember when I was like 12 or 13 (I'm 26 now so I can't remember in full detail anymore) I befriended one of the biggest super stars, invited her over, killed her, put her tomb stone in my back yard....and that's all I remember why. I cant remember why I did it.. I don't remember if that would have helped my sim in the long run or not.
It's interesting that this expansion and Makin' Magic are the least played by you hehe I freaking loved these two, they were my favourites. And the songs in Superstar? Godamn jewels, freaking love sims 1.
Sims Superstar together with Making Magic were my favourite sims 1! Can´t believe u played them the least xD, such a shame. Superstar was awesome because becoming a full celebrity really took some time and you really had the idea that you could finally do a job yourself instead of sending your sim into a rabbit hole. Making magic was awesome because of the duels where u actually had to think about what element would work best against the other and you could do lots of other stuff.
Anneturtle I loved Makin' Magic (never had superstar growing up)...but wasn't dueling essentially rock paper scissors? So it was basically a game of chance against the CPU?
I prefer to record and show the games in their native resolution and aspect ratio, largely because I hate stretching and imprecise scaling. It just looks like garbage, way worse than black bars. Unless those issues can be corrected, I stick with 4:3 for games that use it.
Superstar was one of my favorites. I never did manage to get past a four star rating, it was serious work. The big thing I loved about The Sims 1 was the ambience of it all. The environments and everything was always awesome.
Of what I remember from years ago, there's a magazine that's delivered everyday with the newspaper. Use the magazine to find an agent. Then when you have an agent, you can begin to go to the superstar town, and do those things to gain stars. It helps with Makin' Magic when you create a charm to get all five stars so that you don't have to work hard to get to the top as the number one celebrity.
When i was like 5 years old (that means 13 years ago) one of my neighbors gave me a plain sims disc... And when my parents downloaded it, i was amazed about how cool was this game, it had pets, magic, snowboarding etc., and i couldnt stop playing it... But now watching lgr reviews on this game i only now realised, that on that little plain sims disc i had ALL the expansions on it... And i got it for FREE!! wow i was just a 5 year old kid, when i started to play sims :D... I actually just ordered the sims 1 for myself yesterday, and I have all the other sims games! sims 3 was actually the first one I played, I bought it about 5 years ago and now I have all the expansions. I got sims 2 and all its expansions for free when origin was giving it out a few years ago. I started watching these videos of LGR playing sims 1 and even though some things about this game aren't as advanced as later games, it still looks like a lot of fun and I bought it with all its expansions for only $20! I can't wait until it comes in the mail
TheWhiteWolf You can get all cracked version of the sims series including the latest sims 4...toddlers for free now...But I wouldn't waste my time as it's still the sims 4 and after a while... Even I just wanted to go back to the sims 3...
Heh, yeah probably, but that's not exactly the point of these videos. It's just me playing a game, it's not meant show how everything works or how to properly play it. It's literally just a snippet of time of me having fun with a piece of software and nothing more.

I just loved your video, you'd just captured the frustating feeling that is play some of the The Sims expansion packs.
I loved this expansion; it was actually really easy if you get all your needs up , then come directly there and start with telling jokes/singing or whatever, as you have to start small.
When you said the classic line "Born to be wiiiiiild!" I exploded with laughter hahahaha. thanks for making my day dude, you are a true Duke Nukem clone
I reckon it's possible for you to gain stardom by hiring an agent via the Superstar tabloid then start by singing in community lots and moving up to photography. For resetting the mood bars, it's best to save the game first (which saves the skills) and the delete your sims via the move_object cheat. Sims Superstar was one of the great expansion packs imo and it does take a while to get used to I admit that.
I'm sure someone replied with this already, but basically each half-star unlocks more things. At first you have to use the poetry and karaoke stages, like you did at the start, to the delight of the two women... After you get your first half-star, you unlock more things. I think the first thing you unlock is the recording studio, where you can sing a jingle or something like that.
I remember this being my least favorite expansion. Around the time I got this was when I got bored of The Sims 1, and patiently waited for The Sims 2. Also, I kinda might have stolen money out of my dad's wallet to pay for the expansion, and when he found out, it was the worst day of my short life...
this expansion was actually pretty fun if you're not totally lost trying to figure out how to be a star... I remember I had the most fun with makin magic, and this is the 2nd
I'll always thank you for this. As much as I love the Half-Life games, and your voice, I'm sure it would be a good combination. But there's only so much you can do, so I appreciate that you look at the under-appreciated titles too. (even if some of them deserved to be under-appreciated)
Oh and my favorite piece of music comes from Superstar! It was one of the tracks that plays in the credits or when you went in to edit the studio town lots.

A couple things I remember are that music video performance is based on that mini-Stone Hinge Spinal Tap thing and also you can sleep on the community lots if you go into the star trailer on one of those lots (although of course you have to BE a star to be allowed in there...oh well). There was a vibrating gold chair which was great for helping keep your energy up although that might have been a special purchase item. Damn it's been a looooong time since I've played Sims 1
Nah. The point of these videos is to simply play a game for 20 minutes or so, and whatever happens happens. They're not a walkthrough, not a playthrough, not meant to show how to "play for real".
In here you were wondering how to get stars. You have to click on the tabloid-thing that get's delivered with the news paper, and apply for an agent at what I believe is called "Look for an Agent" and you should ge able to start gaining stars. It's like a career basically, so when you upgrade to 2.5 stars, you do that commercial.
I don't know if someone already mentioned, but I think there is only one place that you can start building stars, it's a photo shoot on a second floor, I don't remember exactly which building. Definitely a design flaw that there is only one place you can go to start.
You have to click on the tabloid that comes with the newspaper and get an agent. Then you start with the stand up comedy and singing stage. Then I think you move on to the recording booth and then the commercial with the dude in the body cast. I could never get past the commercial. But then again I was like 9 so
I had a mod for that called the "rejuvenation shower" I think... It worked just like a shower, only it maxed all of your needs and it left behind a pile of ashes...
Hello again!! My name is Baghera. This video is another favorite of mine. I love Sims Superstar. Now I'm really excited about Tannah getting the Sims 1: The Sims Complete Collection. Can't wait to see the other videos about Me & Tannah's favorite Sims 1 expansions. Making Magic & Unleashed are okay. What I like about Unleashed is you can have your sim adopt pets. I think Making Magic has a popcorn machine. But anyway, Me & Tannah love Superstar, Hot Date, Living Large, & House Party. Oh, Tannah's sister has Sims 2. Tannah also has 6 Sims 3 Expansions. Tannah has: Sims 3. Sims 3 Late Night. Sims 3 University Life. Sims 3 Island Paradise. Sims 3 Seasons. Sims 3 Into the Future. Tannah wants: Sims 3 Showtime. Sims 3 Supernatural. Sims 3 Katy Perry Sweets. Sims 3 Generations. Oh. Maybe one day, I want Tannah to create my best friend on Sims 1. And of course, Sarah Korea must see what she looks like on Sims 1, Sims 2, & Sims 3. Plus Tannah wants Sims 4.
I remember I really didn't get much out of this expansion. This is where I officially stopped playing the original Sims game. I never got Makin' Magic. I never managed to really follow the Superstar career track, mainly because of how ridiculously hard it was to get your Sim to do work out of the house and also maintain their needs and mood. It was nearly impossible because of how badly needs are handled in The Sims 1. I'm glad this has been improved since, it took me several years to come back. I didn't get The Sims 2 until it was basically all done and the expansions where all out.
Still you have to admit it would be hilarious to go through a fast food drive through using the Duke voice but playing it up like it's just your voice.
I tried this expansion when it was released and like you phreakindee, I could never get my sim famous - they got tired and had to go home before I achieved anything. Great to see the game again.
I think you have to entertain people with the karoke and the poetry stages to increase your stardom (which you also need a high creativity stat to use), but since Superstar was the only expansion pack I skipped getting I don't really know for sure.
I know you get this a lot but thanks for this. I never had this expansion as my funds were limited I. High scholarly but I always wondered what it was like. Im not too sad I missed it as I'm not into out of the ordinary stuff in the Sims...I'm more into the everyday living.
Why does the Sims 1 feel as if it has more soul then sims 4. Yes the game is older, but it has major heart. I just played sims 4 after several years and seeing this makes me just sad.
I never could get the hang of the whole studio thing. Where you had to pick how to do each modeling, singing, acting? I never understood how to predict what they wanted

I sometimes forget how long I've been watching you for... I'm glad I've stuck around for all these years
It doesn't look that complicated. Everytime you get too tired, you just go back and bulldoze your house. You know, just like in real life.
So much Sims 1 nostalgia.
Memories of its addicting yet totally frustrating gameplay come flooding back
I've had that for years. And I also have all the expansions on their own already. The point of these is to show each expansion on their own, not to show every one of them all at once.
I loved this expansion pack. Getting them to Superstar status took work, but the more you played, the more you could strategize how to get them there.
Dickstina Agdicklera is probably the best name ever invented as an insult... probably.

I love your reviews on games!!:D
This was one of my favourites, along with vacation :)
Did you say you live in Asheville?
I used to live near there.
+Lazy Game Reviews I live not to far away from there is why I was curious. I've been watching you forever and no idea you were like right there. Lol.
Lol I was just thinking that!! I live near there now
Okay when you talk about the guy in the pink speedo and you say "It's how it is" it sounds so surreal
I know you get this a lot but thanks for this. I never had this expansion as my funds were limited I. High scholarly but I always wondered what it was like. Im not too sad I missed it as I'm not into out of the ordinary stuff in the Sims...I'm more into the everyday living.
The start reminded me of duke singing born to be wild
Why does the Sims 1 feel as if it has more soul then sims 4. Yes the game is older, but it has major heart. I just played sims 4 after several years and seeing this makes me just sad.
"Oh, look at the WALL. Look at the wall, dude, that'll help." 😂😂
i play this expansion the most, because I really like hearing my sim sing ^^~
Used to play this as a young child!
I never could get the hang of the whole studio thing. Where you had to pick how to do each modeling, singing, acting? I never understood how to predict what they wanted
"what a stupid looking bus!" 😂
I love your sims videos! :D
I love your Sims videos, but sometimes watching you play is frustrating XD
