The thing about Makin' Magic is they knew it would be the last pack, so they did throw a lot of random kind of things in basically just because they wanted to. You know, in playing this pack you can tell the dev team had FUN with it, they enjoyed it. There is sooooo much in it, and not just objects, there is so much gameplay in it. And the magic does cross packs. Magic Town is a cross between a carnival and magic mixed together
I’m so so so taken aback by just how lively the public lots are in sims 1! Sims 4 always feels so dead because every time you pan around sims are doing nothing. Here everyone is just having a blast around you and it’s so interesting to just… walk around?!
Fun fact, Sims 1 actually didn't have 3D objects, only the Sims were 3D, the objects were actually sprites composed of 4 images to match the 4 views, only things they rode like the rollercoaster was a 3D object, There was also an object maker similar to Sims Studio that let you make objects with simple 3D shapes and it would create the object sprites and you could use the object in your game.
Makin Magic expert here, I played the shit out of the expansion and still come back every now and then. Clarifications: 1. Dueling works on a rock-paper-scissors rule, yes, but there are five possible spells you can cast. Each spell is weak to two other spells and stronger than two other spells, and if you use the same spell, it's a draw. The twist is that both sims only have four out of two spells available, so every time you'll have to adjust for that. The orbs behind the dueling sims show what spells they can cast, and you can see what spell the enemy is choosing for this round by watching the symbol by them. - White Lightning (lightning symbol, white orb) beats Red Wave and Blue Tornado, but is weak to Black Blizzard and Yellow Brimstone - Blue Tornado (tornado symbol, blue orb) beats Black Blizzard and Yellow Brimstone, but is weak to Red Wave and White Lightning - Red Wave (telecommunications symbol, red orb) beats Blue Tornado and Black Blizzard, but is weak to White Lightning and Yellow Brimstone - Yellow Brimstone (flame symbol, yellow orb) beats White Lightning and Red Wave, but is weak to Black Blizzard and Blue Tornado - Black Blizzard (snowflake symbol, black orb) beats White Lightning and Yellow Brimstone, but is weak to Red Wave and Blue Tornado For example, let's take Fanny Mae's duel here. She has Blue Tornado, Red Wave, Yellow Brimstone and Black Blizzard, whereas her opponent has White Lightning, Red Wave, Black Blizzard and Yellow Brimstone. Without White Lightning, Fanny Mae can only counter her foe's Red Wave with Yellow Brimstone, and that's the start of our strategy. Therefore, to achieve a perfect victory, Fanny Mae would need to counter Red Wave with Yellow Brimstone, White Lightning with Black Blizzard, Yellow Brimstone with Blue Tornado and Black Blizzard with Red Wave. 2. The spellbook contains the recipes for spells and charms you can make. Interestingly, if you have Superstar and/or Unleashed!, you get an unique recipe each. 3. Butter churning and nectar making did come with Makin' Magic. You can also use the beekeping set to get wax and honey and the spinning wheel to acquire free ingredients. If you have a pet dragon, you can brush it for scales and tickle it for tears. 4. Oh, fuck the clouds. They're my most hated quest from the shopkeepers, nowadays when I get unlucky and it happens I just leave the lot. Other quests the shopkeepers may give you include: - deliver something to a sim. The simplest and easiest type of a quest. And the delivery item isn't even an ingredient so you're not tempted to pocket it lol. I did keep it several times, just to see what it does, but I am yet to find an use for it - Ask around other sims to find an ingredient for the shopkeeper. A little more time-consuming, but at least you know what's happening - Cheer up a sim, which you've also seen. I always ragequit at this because I thought I had to take care of all their needs lol. - Toadstool races! I'm glad you got to try them, they can be fun. I usually always pause and find all nine, then have the sim run to the nearest cluster. The shopkeepers' AI is really dumb sometimes, I've seen them ignore toadstools that are right next to them to run all the way to the other end of the lot 5. Also, only the spooky stage and the table use Logic. The traditional magician one uses Mechanical skill instead 6. It might not be glitched. There are set charges to each charm and spell, and once you use them up, they're gone. Yes, you have to go and get all the ingredients again if you want to use it. But you absolutely can download mods that give you ingredients and magicoins! simlogical has an improved starter box that gives you oodles of magicoins . mistymage.com has an item to generate charms and spells free of charge so you don't have to worry about making them. simsky has objects that give you ingredients, charms, spells, abilities (yes, there is even more stuff you haven't seen in this expansion) and an extra shop for all the rare goods you'd otherwise want to quest for. The Sims 1 Makin' Magic is ridiculously good to me who love magic occult. I was mesmerized by each spell effects. The easter egg of climbing the beanstalk to find a sleeping giant was an absolute goal!
The Sims 1 EPs gameplay depths are God Tier. I was suprised by Makin magic as it almost felt like playing an actual RPG game instead of the sims, that's how deep the gameplay is. Gathering coins from performing magic was also fun. Not to mantion the pet DRAGON!! Enchanted gnomes and flamingos!! The rollercoasters animation were cool af! Meanwhile, I try to play Sims 4 Realm of Magic, the only fun thing to me is summoning familiars thats all 😂
Obviously of you ask ea dev they will say that they did rabbit hole to allow the game to run on low performance computers and because animation.may be complicated ... funny when you realize that it was even possible in 2006...
12:36 I LOVED those little quests! They were so much chaos and fun 😄 I actually love that The Sims 1 is more difficult than the Sims 4, but maybe a bit too difficult 🤣
You lost your Toadification spell because in TS1, spells and charms have a certain number of casts; you have to constantly re-prepare the ingredients to keep casting the same spell. The higher your cooking skill, the more casts of a spell you get from one creation, and the same with mechanical for charms.
This brings back some memories! I loved this pack when I was a kid, I just remember the complete chaos of the pet dragon torching everything on my lot 😂. Despite how random it is I do love how creative they were with the magic world, the different themes in each area and the fact you actually had to work hard to get the skills and coins necessary to move into those specific lots. I wish they’d kept some of these looks and themes for other magic packs in future games, especially those creepy circus themed lots.
I remember making a cheat sheet for all the spells in dueling, like which one beats which 😎 I slowly scraped it together by trial and error, and ended up being the dueling queen
I loved the spells and charms! I liked the grind in it though. I also used to hyper focus in sims 1, I didn’t have friends, so I spent all my time reading, writing or playing sims. Pretty much. Haha
Pretty sure you need to go into buy mode and remove from plumbob charm you made from the charm making station and place it on the ground so you can make a new charm. That's why it wasn't letting you craft one.
The Sims 1 is a game with A SOUL. You can clearly see how much effort, thought, and heart was poured into the game, esp with this pack. I think The Sims dev team, as well as management, has a lot to learn here....
This expansion pack is so nostalgic. I played this a lot as a child 🎉 I even got scolded cause I bought this one with all the small changes and allowances I saved up 😂
This was my all time favourite sims pack ever. You earn magic coins by charming the snake or winning duels or selling beeswax, honey, goldenthread and other to the 3 magic vendors.
The best expansion pack of all the sims by far! It was so fun when you figure out the duals / challenges / secret ingredients / magic crystals. I loved the atmosphere and the world they built - SO much detail, including across the different expansion packs
Just wanted to tack onto your great post. There’s more than one hidden magic recipe - one for the baking oven and one for the wine vat, and there’s a couple other “hidden” things as well. When a spell or charm backfires sometimes you get snakes or frogs all over the lot. Try kissing the frogs, one of them might turn into a prince. And if you perform a lot of magic successfully & frequently enough on the home lot odd things might start growing, like toadstools, strange flowers, crystals (some might even give your sim magic abilities) and beanstalks (on very rare occasion one might be climbable). - Be careful if you have pets, especially cats, and you use the toadification spell. The cat might hunt and eat the sim-turned-frog. (dun dun dunnnnnnn) - The fortune teller machine can actually raise your sim’s needs but it’s random chance or based on certain types of fortunes your sim gets. It’s the kinda the same way with Miss Lucille in Old Town.
I remember as a kid I finally aquired a dragon egg, only for the red dragon to burn the garden and child to death. I ended up turning the whole computer off as I was so scared. 😂😂 Sims 1 is so iconic!
I never used Makin Magic for magic, I always used it as a creepy looking holiday theme park😅 I never understood why other Sims games never made a theme park, I loved the weird food and roller coaster in Makin Magic👀
Oh this brings back memories sausage it was very good the original one luv. Very nostalgic I remember when I first purchase livin large expansion on CD Rom. OMG when did I get so old. Good video dear.
I think part of the reason the Sims 1 was so much more challenging is because there's no time progression--like every day is the same day. And sims don't age either. They're just frozen in time with all the time in the world to do everything in the world, like Groundhog Day. So if it weren't incredibly challenging to balance their needs with these really expansive quests and gameplay requirements then it would feel terribly stagnant and dull.
It's always fun "trying" to raise a baby dragon in this pack... Least to say, it is a very challenging thing to do and if you fail, it's a test in frusturations. Oh, and to make the pack a bit easier, try and find the "Slater" NPC, you'll absolutely love him.
I loved this pack SO much. I loved the spells, but I loved stuff like the spinning wheel, bee hive, and butter churn more. I do remember I mistyped my name in the spell book and there was no way to fix it, so I just had a typo name in the book forever.
Ok, if you want mods for Sims1 they are out there. The best I've found is a coffee pot that fills all needs, place it in the magic town lots and you can just stay there until you've done all you need to by just drinking from the coffee pot. Most mods for Sims1 are cheaty objects and there are still people out there making things for Sims 1! There are Sims 4 to 1 conversions! There are youtube videos out there telling where to put them in the game and the best hacked objects available.
I think you couldn’t do the last charm because the other one is still there? Maybe move the first one you made to a table. This was my favorite expansion pack as a kid! I was so proud of myself when I finally bought one of those special lots to live in! Thank you for playing this!
no it didn't glitch, you just haven't removed the crystal from the table. you can't make another one if there's one already there occupying the space. also why would you want it to be easier to play? it's not "hard", it's just not holding your hand and telling you what to do. just like in real life you figure stuff out on your own. this isn't Sims 4 where you can just speed through an expansion/pack/whatever you wanna call it, this is the OG. you have to work for it. the point is not to finish quickly, it's to take time to explore, figure stuff out and-- wait for it-- play the game.
LOL, the cloud one is actually the easiest one, yes it spreads but only so much. I don't know the number but once you've dispersed a certain number then you got it. The toadstool race is harder to win, some vendors you cannot bear without having certain magics, and I have NEVER beaten the fricken graveyard thing.
Satch - Totally not a British boy doing magic in magical World [imagine Satch On Sims and the Brutally Honest Stone, or Satch On Sims and the Chamber of Chantelle]
Sims1 Makin' Magic is perfect. I have been playing it since my childhood and still going back to it at least once a year. Once my magic backfired and instead of many food (Horns of plenty magic), maaany snakes appeard. Then once I had many frogs (don't remember the spell) and when my sim kissed one it became a handsome blonde prince, litterally called Prince something. When I die I want to become an NPC in Makin'Magic realm. 😂
How are you even able to get TS to play now in 2024? I had to give up in TS3 as there was no way at all to get it to work on my computer, despite the fact that it HAD played just fine from 2013 - 2018 or so...😢😢😢😢. Really sad, but nothing i could do, so had to go to TS4.
Magic Town is a cross between a carnival and magic mixed together
Makin Magic is so early 2000s when after Harry Potter was released we got this hype of magic/supernatural/witchcraft/fantasy products
It also has spooky horror vibes and circus themes
This still remain my favourite expansion of all the sims!
I was going to say literally this word for word 😄👌
YES! SAME. The atmosphere is something else. There is something special about it, that TS4 cannot recreate anymore
Mine too! Omg it was so amazing!

So if it weren't incredibly challenging to balance their needs with these really expansive quests and gameplay requirements then it would feel terribly stagnant and dull.
I love your old games gameplays❤
I loved this pack when it first came out. This was the pack that sold me on the franchise!
The Sims 1 has my heart I love this game so much it's such a vibe that only the sims 1 has
the Charm backfired because Kieran was too close, anyone shoud not be around when casting, love the video!
This pack changed my brain chemistry as a child. I almost thought it was a false memory so its so good to see you play it haha.
It's always fun "trying" to raise a baby dragon in this pack... Least to say, it is a very challenging thing to do and if you fail, it's a test in frusturations. Oh, and to make the pack a bit easier, try and find the "Slater" NPC, you'll absolutely love him.
These retro sims gameplays are elite fr
To this day (and probably forever more) this is my favourite Sims expansion pack! 😍😍😍
I loved this pack SO much. I loved the spells, but I loved stuff like the spinning wheel, bee hive, and butter churn more. I do remember I mistyped my name in the spell book and there was no way to fix it, so I just had a typo name in the book forever.
Sims 1 just has so many weird, quirky twists for the players, it is so classic on its own.
"Sims 4 could neva. There's a bloody fairy!" lmao
I have to find The Sims again somewhere. I loved playing it.
If you find it, please tell me 🥹

I wish they would just do a Sims 1 with better graphics and zooming in. But just keep all interactions and items the same. I would totally buy it
Ok, if you want mods for Sims1 they are out there.
Hot Date, and Superstar is where its at for me 👌👌👌
I made my sims visit makin magic world everyday, I had so much fun playing there.
Makin Magic, is that what you call your bedroom Satch?
Argh I remember getting that expansion pack!! It was so much fun. I know it was difficult but it provided hours of gameplay
sims content that's not sims 4 is my favorite
sims 4 may look better, but the earlier sims games had better gameplay.
When I played I had my sim turn her cat into a human and I made them play in the heart bed 😅
I think you couldn’t do the last charm because the other one is still there? Maybe move the first one you made to a table. This was my favorite expansion pack as a kid! I was so proud of myself when I finally bought one of those special lots to live in! Thank you for playing this!
This brings so much nostalgia ❤
I remember downloading a custom house with a household for the magic world so that I could actually play it. 😂
i loved the aestethics❤❤❤
I need to work out how to play this ASAP, the most fun I’ve ever had playing the sims
the sims makin magic is still my favorit sims pack from all the games Q___Q I just love it so so sooooo much
no it didn't glitch, you just haven't removed the crystal from the table. you can't make another one if there's one already there occupying the space.
also why would you want it to be easier to play? it's not "hard", it's just not holding your hand and telling you what to do. just like in real life you figure stuff out on your own. this isn't Sims 4 where you can just speed through an expansion/pack/whatever you wanna call it, this is the OG. you have to work for it. the point is not to finish quickly, it's to take time to explore, figure stuff out and-- wait for it-- play the game.
Come along, viewers, as Satch plumbs the depths of his magic hole…
Satch should just name this series "Sims 4 could never!"
I’m so obsessed with him
This was my FAVORITE and then my game and computer crashed, and I lost it all.
Satch's thumbnails are the best 😂
Omg the sims do all follow the camera and I love it, bring it back EA!
The spells and charms only have a certain number of uses before you need to make more.
I love this 🥹
I still have the CDs! Now if only I can get Sims 1 to work on my laptop,I'd have all Sims games again.
Sims 1 was by far the best Sims edition... I cannot tell you the nostalgia I feel when I see this game...
Satch - Totally not a British boy doing magic in magical World [imagine Satch On Sims and the Brutally Honest Stone, or Satch On Sims and the Chamber of Chantelle]
It was my favourite pack of all times!
This was my favorite pack. It blew my mind!
Just got this notification read the title as "Magic Mike" for some reason 😂😂
How did you get sims 1? I have been trying to get it for some time now
You would have to have an extremely old and slow computer to have lag in the Sims 1 since most everything is just sprite objects.
Omg yes the sims 1. I played that for so long
How do you get Sims 1 on your computer? This makes me want to play Sims 1 again! 😢😂
HOWWWW are you getting this to work on your comp?!?! i have tried and failed many times
SATCH! Chad Chad used a clip from one of your videos (chantelle shantelle) in her latest video!!!
