Great video. There were many facts even I didn't know, and some I have featured in my channel at one point. Anyway, about the fact 50. The Sims 1 also is the only game where children can be zombies. Zombies can be cured by Miss Lucille, a palm reader that appears in Old Town near mask and candle stands. She can also fill the family needs to the max. Claire the Bear should also react to stuffed bears (or that is what I've read). She may also raid bees for honey and get chased away by bees. With beanstalks, it seem like how high they grow is randomly set when they spawn. I remember SimsVIP trying to get one grow. After getting many on her sims' lot but being able to climb one, she eventually resorted to mods... Oh, and lastly, telescopes improve children's school grades (they can also get abducted by aliens). While children can't build skills, they get randomly assigned skill points. You can't see them in-game, but in address books (in game files). Also if you create a child and edit him or her into an adult in CAS, that adult sim will start off with some skill points.
Can confirm on the bees. Once I was working with the chemistry lab and the police came in and yelled at me, saying they could smell the fumes all the way from the school or something like that. I played for years, and then I dug up my old disks on a whim to them have that happen. Cool to know after time I don't want to count, the Sims 1 still has surprises

I think it's possible the "El Viz the Dancer" is more a reference to the abundance of Elvis Impersonators (at least in the US) and their common stereotype of being fat and awkward and not actually very good entertainers because they just try to copy Elvis.
Wow this is so cool. I played the sims 1 when I was a kid and stoped playing because it creeped tf out of me. But now it looks so cool with all of this secrets. I love the giant sleeping Will one most. Thank you Abi, your videos are always so interesting and eye-opening 👍

51. In addition to the elvis guy, you might also get a pink gorilla from the cake. 52. claire the bear also goes to your honey making station, before running-off while being chased by bees 53. Not much an easter egg, but the skeleton in cage decoration (see scuplture tab) suggest that it was someone who died under torture
In Portuguese there is a computer called "Inimiga", this is a reference to the Commodore Amiga OS. In Portuguese, "Amiga" means "friend" and "Inimiga" means "enemy" (female, in those cases). The thing I really love about The Sims is how the references, jokes, puns etc, are adapted for the many languages and regions
I remember a table lamp in the Polish edition beinh called "Thr Mustachioed Electricisn" - a shoutout to Lech Walesa, the president of Poland. It was all so creativr and had so much heart, back in the TS1 days. We are so luckt we still can go back to the game and enjoy it after all these years.
The look of the games of this era had something eerie that no other modern game really has. Same thing happens with Fallout 1 & 2 compared to recent releases. There's a grit and darkness to it that the outdated graphics bring.
Watching this video, it really makes me appreciate the sims 1 much more than before. The care, the love, the attention to detail, even if the game is basic in a lot of places compared with the sims 2 or 3. And it really shows you how much care Maxis used to give to their games, and how ea games ruined the company.
I always liked the "spiciness" of TS1 and TS2. They were clearly made for teens and adults, and that's what made them fun. Let's be real...TS3 was only interesting because it had an open world. And, TS4 is just a goddamn snooze-fest because there's no real danger or any interesting consequences. I miss the days where sims could die unexpectedly from damn near anything.
TS3 is pretty good too. Though, you're right about TS4 being dull. I can't really speak for TS2 or TS1 much because I haven't played them. From what I've seen, they both look fun.
The Sims 1 will always hold a special place in my heart. It was my first PC game and my first Life Simulation game, and I had a lot of good times playing it. Even though things have been updated, expanded, and added on by the other games, nothing will beat how much The Sims had from interesting NPCs that appeared every now and then to its humor, from the prank calls to the scary ass music that played when a burglar appeared. Ah, to be a child again and watching the opening cinematic for the first time :')
Ahh good memories playing this game with a friend when we were kids and it was already dark outside. We always designed the houses in the same way, the families were always perfect with two or three children. The character points for friendly to the maximum level. One day our sim got abducted and we panicked and didn't save the game and removed the telescopes from all the lots. The Sims was such a great game
Oh yaaaa once I randomly got the same ad about Will Wright's master class and I was legit sitting there like "Will please please come back.. have you not seen what happened to the Sims 4? What they did to it? You need to come back before they ruin the Sims franchise with their ideas for Sims 5 making everyone quit Sims forever.. we need you ~-~"
I am so glad I was able to experience all the Sims games in their time. I still play the Sims 1 when I have that nostalgia creeping up on me but with video games having "evolved" to what they are now, the Sims 1 may not look like much and can feel boring overall but at the same time too intense at times. However you have to look at it having in mind the year it was released and for that time it was amazing. I still remember my excitement back then, feeling with this game you could do anything. And I still enjoy listening to the soundtrack. I also remember you could rent all the packs at the video rental store and have all the content playable even after you gave the CDs back if you physically had the newest one because you only needed the CD from the newest pack to be able to play. Lifehack back then :D
Wow even after ALL these years later it's still incredible to learn things about the original Sims that I had no idea about before!😮 Have watched some of yours videos before for The Sims 2 and I think a little of 3 and 4 too, you do a great job of putting these videos together and always interesting to watch each time too, will look forward to watching more!👍
Nervous breakdown also happens in the Sims 2 base game if your sim's aspiration meter is full red but unlike the first game the needs don’t go down and a therapist will come and raise your aspiration meter just a bit.
This game was an absolute blast when I was a kid, and I would love to revisit it for purely nostalgia purposes!! It was charming and entertaining. I used to play it for hours on end
This is the game that decided my path in life. And while I haven't played it for... decades (!!), I still believe it's the best, most immersive game ever. This video triggered a nostalgia wave though. Might reinstall.
13:01 can we just appreciate the cut from a sim tucking in a child and giving them a good nights kiss on the forehead to several people burning alive LMAO
I’m not usually surprised by these kind of videos (usually they go over pretty surface level stuff that the most average simmer has encountered) but this one was great!! I feel like a third of them I actually didn’t know! Great video. I love all the hidden Easter eggs by the creators. Really makes me miss the sims and some of the objects/tasks they had that the newer games are lacking! Bring back those stripper cakes! 🙌🏼😂
Gosh, these are so cool! I haven’t discovered most of these yet on my own! The Sims 1 has a special place in my heart - I played it so often growing up and for longer than any of the other sims games. Mainly for nostalgia reasons but I think the sims 1 might be my favorite.
For the Sims 5 I think every single person on the team needs to log 100 hours in the sims 1 and an additional 100 hours in the sims 2. The Sims 4 team has no idea what made this game so special and it shows.
2:40 THIS. Is the reason why I need to install the first Sims again, because after (almost?) two decades of being addicted to the game, I have never heard of that before!
The Tommy reference makes me so happy, I absolutely love the film but I feel like no one has seen it so seeing the ‘see me, feel me’ pinball machine made me very excited
There's one I read about that's missing from the list. If you hire a maid and have Bonehilda come out while the maid is cleaning, the maid will get scared of Bonehilda and run away screaming. I loved picking up prank calls! That meant potentially free money! If you turn the flamingos real during a party, people will flirt with them. It was funny watching Drew Carey get slapped by the women at your party! I miss the spiral staircases of Sims 1! This was the best Sims!
No doubt that this game will always be the best in the FRANCHISE.... And don't make me start with the EPIC soundtrack. I'm glad I'm back at playing this game this week and it's a trip to play both the Sims 1 and the Sims 4 at the same time. I made all my families from the sims 1 in the sims 4. I just love this game with all my heart.
Yeah, it definitely is a somewhat eerie (but also oddly cozy) game. I can see why a lot of people who played Sims 1 in the past are playing Project Zomboid now.
Some phone calls can affect your sim like for example the one that tells you you are spring, winter, fall or summer and you have to decorate acording that season if you don't do it one skill point is going to low down. Love your videos they are great 🖒
Yeah having all the in-game UI text be in comic sans was....a choice 9:51 this is a reference to A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare, where Nick Bottom is turned into a half-donkey man in order to distract the Fairy Queen Titania
When we were kids, my sister managed to kill Mortimer and made him a zombie, it was 15 years later that I learned that Mortimer isn't a zombie by default :D
If I could have anything for S4, it would be the Makin' Magic pack updated. I would also love to have the stripper cake again, but I really miss the MM pack so much. I loved that you could not only do real magic but also stage magic and crazy carnival stuff.
Knowing Sims 4, you'd barely get anywhere near the same amount of gameplay and it would probably have a million glitches like their latest expansion. I wouldn't even want them to attempt it, but I'll assume the magical town they did IS Sims 4 Makin' Magic.
I never played the first Sims game, but I did play all the Sim City games that preceded it. The loch ness monster is a staple in all of those games, you can get it show up in Sim City 2000 by placing multiple marinas on the shore. The alien abductions and disasters are horrifying in the sim city games as well.
I just now noticed that some of those calls in number 4 on this list are the same when trying to talk to ghost in the paranormal stuff pack in the sims 4
I am so glad that I still have The Sims base game. I used to play this game on very old box computers growing up. I need to start playing this game again !
I think I remember getting Santa without the Livin' Large EP by just putting a normal pine tree inside and then putting the wall back, along with cookies and a fireplace.

52. claire the bear also goes to your honey making station, before running-off while being chased by bees
53. Not much an easter egg, but the skeleton in cage decoration (see scuplture tab) suggest that it was someone who died under torture
Even almost 20 years into this, I still discover new things about it. It's even better when I can capture it on camera!

Very well pointed!
Can Will Wright come back now :( EA is ruining things. With DLc’s for DLC’s and it’s rather lack luster !
He is probably busy living his own life.
He's working on other projects. And even if he would come back to The Sims, he has not much to say. EA owns the franchise.
:(
There is only one dlc for dlc I know tho
@@berndlauert8179 He's livin' large
I love the looks of the town's in sims 1, they're so unique and atmospheric! The fair in magic town was so creepy too
The look of the games of this era had something eerie that no other modern game really has. Same thing happens with Fallout 1 & 2 compared to recent releases. There's a grit and darkness to it that the outdated graphics bring.
When sims had that young adult charm!
I love TS1 and TS2 but TS3 was amazing and I will fight to the death for that opinion
Nah, sims 3 had added more experiences that we had never experienced in the prior installments. It's more than just the open world.
TS3 is pretty good too. Though, you're right about TS4 being dull. I can't really speak for TS2 or TS1 much because I haven't played them. From what I've seen, they both look fun.
Sorry but sims 3 had more details and experiences than 4. A LOT MORE. Definitely won’t beat 1 or 2 in wackiness, but I’ll take sims 3 any day
The Sims 1 will always hold a special place in my heart.
The Sims 1 was so savage! I remember how shocked I was by the prank calls and the exotic dancer from the cake as a child, haha!
At 2:57 He talks about Will the guy how created the Sims. Right after that a Ad comes that talks about Will's Master Class.
I got that ad on another video of Abi’s as well!
Oh yaaaa once I randomly got the same ad about Will Wright's master class and I was legit sitting there like
"Will please please come back.. have you not seen what happened to the Sims 4? What they did to it? You need to come back before they ruin the Sims franchise with their ideas for Sims 5 making everyone quit Sims forever.. we need you ~-~"
@@artytalkstodragons Good question
WILL WRIGHT HAS A MASTERCLASS? WHAAT
4:27 you forgot Christina Aguilera
I love how he names the frog Prince "FINALLY AFTER HOURS", you can hear his desperation
"if a celebrity dies, their tombstone will look different"
aristocratic Will Wright has joined the chat
I've been playing the Sims 1 ever since it was first released on PC 20 years ago and I STILL didn't know most of these
Wow even after ALL these years later it's still incredible to learn things about the original Sims that I had no idea about before!😮
Have watched some of yours videos before for The Sims 2 and I think a little of 3 and 4 too, you do a great job of putting these videos together and always interesting to watch each time too, will look forward to watching more!👍
I can't be the only person who loves how comfortable the beds on the sims look? The other instalments don't have beds that look that comfortable.
Nervous breakdown also happens in the Sims 2 base game if your sim's aspiration meter is full red but unlike the first game the needs don’t go down and a therapist will come and raise your aspiration meter just a bit.
I never knew the Sims 1 was so detailed! Wow! I really want to get the Sims 1 now!
I played this game a LOT and did not know over half of these. Thank you for showing!
Iv only seen Christina Aguilera, Avril Lavigne & Marilyn Monroe when i go to Studio town
Sims 1 looks hilarious to play.
I never knew about the beanstalk secret. I wish I did haha. It looks amazing.
In 12:34, the pinball machine is also a callback to 3D Pinball Space Cadet for older Windows version, as the game is published by Maxis.
Gosh, these are so cool! I haven’t discovered most of these yet on my own! The Sims 1 has a special place in my heart - I played it so often growing up and for longer than any of the other sims games. Mainly for nostalgia reasons but I think the sims 1 might be my favorite.
That's my childhood.Sims 1 will always have a very special place in my heart
For the Sims 5 I think every single person on the team needs to log 100 hours in the sims 1 and an additional 100 hours in the sims 2. The Sims 4 team has no idea what made this game so special and it shows.
When I clicked on this video I got an ad for game design and theory masterclass with Will Wright. The irony!
2:40 THIS. Is the reason why I need to install the first Sims again, because after (almost?) two decades of being addicted to the game, I have never heard of that before!
i’d love more videos about ANYTHING relating to sims 1 lol
It's been 22 years and I'm still learning new things about this game. It's insane really. I wonder how much I don't know about the other 3.
The Tommy reference makes me so happy, I absolutely love the film but I feel like no one has seen it so seeing the ‘see me, feel me’ pinball machine made me very excited
This why the sims 1 is the superior, I want the sims 5 to be like this. :(
2:48 I have never seen the Sims 1 Grim Reaper run before, why is it so funny?
Damn, remember when a Sim game had 50 features without any expansion?...
Actually, most of these need expansions.
I wish the sims stayed this crazy 😭
your github link to make sims 1 full hd saved me bro. i never felt so immersive playing this game than ever before with this patcher! thank you man!!
Magic Tart and it's properties are a reference to Shakespeare's A Midsommer Night's Dream
I thought I knew everything about sims 1, I'm so surprised 😱 thanks for this video, the sims 1 deserves attention ❤️

man, i still scared to rememerr those prank calls. the sound is made me scared then after that prank call, my house got hijacked by burglar
The sims in The Sims 1 have a personality that the other games don't have. it's not better it's just different
I miss the early 2000s... coming home from school playing The Sims, the soundtrack still gives me goosebumps thinking about those wonderful times.
The moose head is soo creepy.
Yes, I still rememeber the noises oof
Yeah, it definitely is a somewhat eerie (but also oddly cozy) game. I can see why a lot of people who played Sims 1 in the past are playing Project Zomboid now.
I really miss Sims 1 :( I wish that EA made a port of it on Origin and re-released it.
It's making rounds on abandonware sites nowadays
@@Suntaile It's legally free now, it's abandonware, usually all you need to get working on modern systems is the widescreen patch.
Thank you for this!! I'd love a part 2 or a different video on the Sims 1. Love this game and people don't cover it enough. 😊
So much more charm and character than the sims 4 would ever know!!!
Some phone calls can affect your sim like for example the one that tells you you are spring, winter, fall or summer and you have to decorate acording that season if you don't do it one skill point is going to low down.
Love your videos they are great 🖒
Yes they do, but the one with the "laughing face" icon is always a prank call as shown in the video
Yeah having all the in-game UI text be in comic sans was....a choice
9:51 this is a reference to A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare, where Nick Bottom is turned into a half-donkey man in order to distract the Fairy Queen Titania

I just managed to install the sims 1 last night, I found all 11 discs. It's so feral after playing 4 for years I love it.
Nobody:
The grim reaper: *Haha you got pranked bruh!*
I never played the first Sims game, but I did play all the Sim City games that preceded it. The loch ness monster is a staple in all of those games, you can get it show up in Sim City 2000 by placing multiple marinas on the shore. The alien abductions and disasters are horrifying in the sim city games as well.
Thank you for this video. I didn't know about a lot of these easter eggs. Fantastic.
Thank you so much for this video. I can't believe I missed so much as a kid. I'm so glad I started playing Sims 1 again!!
The Sims 1 is such a ground breaking game, then Sims 2 was top tier! Went way downhill from there.
But sims 3 isn't that bad tho.
Nope, sims 3 was the last great sims game before everything went downhill.
Lmao the sims 3 has the most details u have to be like 50 if you think the sims 2 has more shit💀
@@jasmineevu5895 Just because a game has more doesn’t mean it’s better.
@@wuzittooya y’all bag way too much on 3 when 4 exists
I just now noticed that some of those calls in number 4 on this list are the same when trying to talk to ghost in the paranormal stuff pack in the sims 4
The Sims was wild! I wish Sims 4 would be more like it!
I am so glad that I still have The Sims base game. I used to play this game on very old box computers growing up. I need to start playing this game again !
