    I'm owning a Model Y Performance from Giga Berlin and what I was most surprised by, was the sheer power of this vehicle.
    I tried the uphill part of the A1 from Kreuz Bliesheim towards the Eifel area and the way it accelerated towards 240km/h was just impressive.
    Feels like 250km/h is definitely not the limit of the engines and rather just a limitation imposed by software.
    Regarding the issues with one-pedal driving: when you drive a lot with these vehicles, you get used to it and you learn how to drive the car without making your passengers feel sick.
    Great review by the way!

    Great review as usual! Regarding recuperation I thing (I own a M3 Long Range) that one pedal drive is the best driving experience with a EV, It took me the first day to adapt. I also make long trips with my car and I’m surprised by the suspensions, they are comfortable as my old VW Golf but the car is much more sportier.

      Same here; M3P always on sport. I *can* drive now like a limousine driver, making all acceleration and one pedal braking very smooth and soft. Took me a while to master it so don't need the chill mode anymore. Like the sport setting as well to have the power when you need it without going trough the settings.

    Hi Thomas, regarding recuperation: personally I hate the adaptive one because I cannot be 100% sure what will happen next. I see the point though if someone is driving ICE and electric cars and has no chance to get used to one pedal driving. As I'm driving 95% electric now I use one pedal all the time and no one is complaining 😉 For me it's one of the big advantages of driving electric.

    I have a 22 Model Y Performance built in California and have to say it’s the best all around vehicle I’ve owned. No fit and finish issues. The performance addictive. The one pedal driving took about a day to get used to and I prefer it. Kind of like getting used to a manual transmission. No need for the Chill mode. As far as ride quality it’s on par with other vehicles I’ve owned or driven including the BMW M3, Mercedes GLC 63 AMG, and certainly better than the BMW X3M.

    • @kimwollmann7194

      Tesla model Y noise @ 60mph: 69DB (On par with a small Renault or another cheap eco-car)
      GLC 63 AMG : 63DB
      If you cant tell the difference, you are one lucky man. You can litterally buy a Toyota Hiace and not loose any ride quality :)

    • @DR-zk2do
      @DR-zk2do 2 года назад

      I was referring to the suspension stiffness which I find typical of a high performance car. As far as noise level I have not found it to be a problem. Perhaps the double pane windows and tires in my Model Y are different?

    • @kimwollmann7194
      @kimwollmann7194 Год назад +2

      @@DR-zk2do The GLC Amg and X3M is in another dimension that the Y - and was what i reacted towards. Because the Y is a stiff, cheap plastic interior car with noise like a small citybasket. The GLC 63 AMG is not a stiff racey car, it can be set up like a pillow.
      The X3M comes with the same adaptive suspension as the rest of the range (if you opt for adaptive and pay for the OTA M upgrade) which is soft in its softest setting.
      The Y comes with extremely stiff suspension which cannot be adjusted. What planet is this guy from i thought.

    • @DR-zk2do
      @DR-zk2do Год назад

      I have always been a fan of all Ms AMGs and Macans and have owned many of them but I think it’s the Model Y Performance that is in another dimension with its instant acceleration. Perhaps my 2022 MYP with the double pane windows and soft touch plastics is different than earlier models. I like the minimalist interior but would consider a full electric GLC AMG or X3M or Macan if they were available.

    • @DrAlban-yb3wu
      @DrAlban-yb3wu Год назад +1

      @@DR-zk2do You keep thinking you have a really specially produced vehicle. Soft plastics, good sound proofing etc. The problem is that things can be measured, and stats can be found.
      You stated that the Y was more comfortavle than a AMG GLC and a X3M. That is where our conversation started. You have since left this rather stupid argument.
      The Y is amazing! Really roomy, economical, easy to use, looks neat with the minimalist design, many of them are fast aswell.
      For me, Teslas lack quality, when they nail that - im coming over.

    You seem to enjoy the performance model more that the LR. It seems to have gotten rid of some of the weaker points, now they just need to figure the suspension out on th LR+ steering in my opinion.
    I think you forgot to mention the double glass is now at the rear seat windows too.
    It's going to be interesting to see how it vil perform as TMY 2.0 with gigacast front+ rear, structural battery and 4780 cells.

    Hello @autogefuhl, coult you help me with a buying advice?
    What would you think is better - a Tesla Y Long Range 19in wheels VS BMW iX3?
    My priorities are:
    1. comfort (I am around your height aprox 190)
    2. lofty ride height (the higher the better)
    3. Reliability
    4. Range
    This car would be driven around town and probably once per year a long 1000km trip.
    Any thoughts?
    Thank you so much,

    Love your reviews! I own a Freemont LR and I feel the suspension becomes acceptable when I have my car loaded down for a trip. I usually have a hitch mounted 2 bike carrier and bikes and probably about 50kg's of additional luggage. I have done 4k km trips with this configuration and feel a noticeable difference in the suspension. I wish there was an aftermarket solution to remove the harshness, I would prefer a suspension somewhere in between what I have now and the XC40 Recharge , although I would take the XC40 suspension over this as a compromise. Your discussion on one pedal driving was interesting and I will poll my passengers to find out if I am doing fine with that. I really enjoy one pedal driving, rarely if ever use the brakes. My build quality was pretty good, I only 2 issues that req'd service was the charging port not lined up and driver seat plastic cover around the base coming off. Both were fixed in my garage with Tesla service. 50k km's in one year of driving and no creaks and still feels solid. My only gripe would be finding a solution to the harsh suspension that will not void my warranty, would be nice if Tesla would address this and give owners an upgrade option. I would pay for that.

    I own a M3 for almost 5 years. I tested VW Id.7, IMO the only car that can challenge the MY. I have to say that went for the the Model Y because of 1600kg towing capacity that I need for my caravan and that there is more space for luggage. ID.7 scored better on noise, comfort, seats and quality of interior. It was a tight challenge.

    Hi Thomas, why do most of the German manufactures don’t have a frunk? What’s your thought? I don’t get it … it feels so inefficient if they don’t use the space … or just make the front inaccessible … btw nice reviews 👍🏼

    • @josefv8708

      Wrong...they use the space better. Only Tesla Björn mentioned this once in a Video. The Front of Tesla is 30cm longer and with this can easily add a frunk. The ID4 showed same amount of Banana Boxes like the Y in Björns space test, but is simply shorter. Very good for european cities.

      This would seem reasonable, I agree. But the reason it has gotten more expensive is because of increasing material costs and they’re selling like hot cakes which means demand exceeds supply. This allows them to charge more money for them since people are buying them anyways, and so Tesla earns more money which they can use for research on how to make them cheaper.

    Also you are dead right that a car needs a traditional instrument cluster display directly in front of the driver and not moved to the middle with nothing in front. And also conventional dials to alter temperature and media settings eg volume are a necessity. Just looks so wrong and tortuous to make changes.

Tesla always have vision of car fully driving itself around... so in that case you dont need to look at instrument cluster. Maybe just at central screen for movies, youtube, games, etc. This car is made for future where driver will drive from time to time, just for fun. But most of the time, car will drive you around.
