This video is speaking to me - 10 reasons why Eddie needs a Model Y Performance
Yes and yes
Send it brother!
Dude me too
True statement g
Did you get one
Nice video! I do love the storage in my Model Y! I was able to have 5 people in the car on a weekend camping trip and have enough room for gear and food! I love my model Y! Best car I’ve ever own! Your top 10 reasons is also why I purchased one back in October 2021.
Excellent video. I liked hearing about the cars you have owned in the past and how they factored into your decision to go with the Y. Sure seems like an incredible combination of performance and practicality.
As someone who's about to order a Model Y Performance in white, with black interior here in England, I've just found your channel. Having seen your car in grey with white interior, I have to say it looks absolutely epic! Not sure if it's how well your car is presented, or if it's just the colour mix, but I'm now leaning towards that combo..... 🙌🏻
The new paint color is STUNNING
This is the second video of yours that I've watched today, and I must say that I really like your format. Clear, concise, no redundancy, on-point, well thought-out, informative, good camera work, sound and editing. I'm impressed and that's not easily done. I will certainly be watching lots more. 👍👏
Wow thank u 🙏
Not his first rodeo, Aldryn has had another channel (FlytPath) since 2014 where he reviews videography/photography equipment like drones, cameras, gimbals, etc. One of the most instructional and comprehensive videos I've ever found. He does a fantastic job of explaining/teaching. Amazing job Aldryn!
@@JJJJSF Good to know. Thanks
@@JJJJSF Appreciate that
@@TeslaoftheDay dual motor model Y requires transmission fluid and filter changes both motors have filters also and sorry rav4 is cheaper to operate it doesnt eat through tires like model y and tires are cheaper and the insurance is cheaper also.
Great videos - as a new Tesla Y owner, love your tips.
Buying the exact same car shortly, using your referral code. Thanks for the great video and nice choice on the spec. A lot of the same reasoning why Im getting one as well!
fantastic review. Ordering one of these today
Great video! Worth every penny!
Well Done, and very concise, and well articulated.
Amazing quality video!!! Very well done!!!
Thanks a lot!
Got a pearl white one coming in about a month and i can't wait to enjoy it.
I’ve had a Model 3 SR+ for almost 4 years, ~ 45k miles. Only maintenance I have done on the car is to replace the in cabin air filter twice. When it starts to smell a bit funky when the AC kicks on, it’s time to replace the filter. Last time, I switched to a HEPA filter, which seems to last much longer.
Awesome ya I put in text on the video the air filter also needs replacement. Good to hear from a long time owner.
I'm thinking of going from my 2023 M3 dual motor all wheel drive to a 2024 MY Performance model and your video was very helpful. Thank you for the great information.
easy explanation style 🙌🏽
Great video! You made some great points! Thx
Glad it was helpful!
@@TeslaoftheDay I am considering a new Model 3, possibly the Performance in same colors. Have not test drove yet! Next week. Trying to decide of I need that much juice for a daily driver? Also the 20" rims and low profile wheels look great, but not sure how practical? At $10,000 differential between standard it seems like a no brainer?
I've been a gear head for 20+ years so its in my blood to have that faster option.
Great video thanks!
You bet!
Reserved one - I am SO waiting for it now :)
Thank you… helpful, useful video….
The best assessment of what is the major difference between legacy car manufacturers and Tesla 👌🏿
Funny I’m in San Diego too and I have a 2023 MYP as well. Got it for the same reasons.
I may add 4 other reasons:
1- the software customization for a seamless, practical and fun experience.
2- the added value of fun stuff you can do inside with family (games, watch Netflix….) still no manufacturers on the market offer in-car entertainment to that extend
3- this reason doesn’t get old 😂 but the thrill you can share / surprise friends, colleagues and family in that quick sports acceleration 😂 the only way to understand it is to experience it yourself
4- So many options in accessories to make it to your flavor / personality / goals. (Such as yoke in a MYP…)
Hope we can connect soon in sunny San Diego 😊
Awsome
Honestly I could have made it top 20 reasons. Lol. SD represent!!!
1. MYP lose the 27 miles range efficiency because of the 21 inch tires? MY with 20 inch tires loses 12 miles. If I put 19 inch tires on MYP I would get 330 miles range?
2. Does the MYP lowered suspension produce a harsh ride? Does it have comfort suspension like in 2023 MY?
I just ordered a MYP today. How worried should I be about the suspension? Some of these reviews frighten me
Do you have sensors for parking? Have auto windows close? I don’t
Nice. Same color combo as my Performance Y. I would add another good reason, which is Tesla’s robust aftermarket support for parts and accessories.
Good call!
Great video man. I just ordered an MYP today since it qualifies for the $7,500 tax credit now. Hopefully it'll be ready before the credit gets cut in half next month.
I just ordered the MY Performance after Tesla dropped the price. After the tax credit and price decrease it will be around $42K. This will be cheaper than my Model 3 Performance.
Great review on how other companies are trying to change their combustion engines into EVs.
Love your #Tesla Content
Awesome review man; very easy to follow. Been considering one of these.. How’s the insurance though?
Very true indeed! We have the same Tesla! 👊🏼
Awesome video!
Thanks!
I just ordered the exact same car. 4 weeks and counting 🥰🥰🥰
Wow, I just ran across your channel while researching the Model Y. My wife is thinking about jumping ship from her Telluride. We met at SpinUp 2021. I'm part of the Dronenation crew.
Dronenation!!!!!! Spin up was fun
Good video, I own a model Y performance and I love it and it’s the fastest car I ever owned so far😂💯💪🏾
Right on!
What is your experience with those larger performance tires? Are they more prone to flats?
Great minds think alike. I purchased the same vehicle just shy of two months in and have almost 3K on it. What interior camera did you use to get that 180 shot/rotation?
I can’t WAIT TO GET MINE BY THE END OF THE MONTH
Has the suspension been softened on the P version? Our 2021 LR is noisy and stiff.
Thanks again for the video..well made! Did you have any challenges in terms of the fit the finish of the vehicle...I "demoed" one a few weeks ago and I was not impressed with how the door sounded when it closes in particular.. :(
Check out my pick up video from last year.
11 - The sound system. 🥰
what shoes are you wearing in the part where you talk about safety? Also great videos and great looking cars, seeing yours sealed the deal that i want the Performance over the Long Range
Vans
Great vid! Enjoyed it
Glad to hear it!
Nice video, agree on the majority of your points. Two questions.. 1) why performance and not long range & 2) did you have the hood and trunk emblems dipped, sprayed or replaced ?
Always been a car guy so performance for me was a no brainer. Trade off of miles was well worth it. Emblems were removed and professionally painted.
Been loving and watching a ton of your videos. Are your headlights ppf smoked or you bought smoked headlights?
Yes tinted ppf
Agree with all your reasoning.
My 2 cents:
I also bought mine due to Mr Musk’s conviction to accelerate the transition to sustainable transportation
Due to the many other revenue streams and by the same token having top world engineers constantly improving cars, batteries, supercharger stations, solar roofs, robots and insurance
No ads. It takes a certain kind of belief and high quality of product to abstain from expensive, repetitive advertising.
My 2022 MY is the best product I ever purchased!
nice bro, you live in san diego?!?! awesome. just subscribed. i'm in SD too! i wonder if i'll see you around haha.
SD represent
Hey, great video.
I ended up getting the same color as yours, did you tint your headlights?
Yes a light PPF tinted film. So it protects and adds a subtle look.
Good video. We have a 21 performance model Y and I just picked up a 23 for myself. The only disadvantage to this model is you cannot rotate the tires. Other than that they are awesome. I traded in a 2019 model three, and this is a much better fit for me 🙂
Ya the rotation is a bummer.
Wait Wut, why can't you rotate tires?
@@Slayer-33cuz the rear wheels are wider than the fronts and on awd vehicles you need to rotate in an X pattern
@@BobbyD-Lo ahh ok
Wow you are my favorite drone youtuber ( I have DJI Mavic). Now I am looking to purchase y performance. Here you are again. Happy to see you again . Having said that, do you think I should wait for Jupitor? Let me know what you think..
Wow, thanks! New model y refresh prob won't be out for another year or so IMO
what brand are your mud flaps?
The tire size for the front and back are different though. Tire rotation or a flat tire can be challenging for the performance model.
Ya. I’ll be getting the same size tires when I need to place them and possibly some coil overs to even out the car.
@@TeslaoftheDay did you get the mud flaps too?
Nice.
That’s crazy i had 3 85 GTS 13 yrs ago.
😳 7:30 Accelerator, no gas. 11:24 Go pedal, no gas. 😜
Good video.
three kids with an all white interior is bold
what do we call the “gas pedal” in EV?
"Letting go of the gas" well said
I really want the performance version but I’m concerned about the significantly higher cost of tires and blowouts. Can you tell me what you’ve experienced?
Haven't heard of anyone having blowouts. Check out my video on tires.
May be a first time Tesla owner soon and I really like your vids. Question is do you have enhanced auto pilot and if so is it worth the 6k?
You can get a free trial and add it later. (OTA software upgrade). I'm getting my Model Y next week!
Kudos
BTW, most apartment buildings are in big cities, and most of the people living in apartments work close by, so charging isn't required that often.
About the looks:
I think the car looks really good, but I am not a fan of the front.
A model X front on this would make it complete (jn my opinion!).
I've got a late 22 MYP which has been great, but I've been getting a slight knocking noise coming from the front of the car when going over slight bumps at slow speed. Have you noticed this at all?
I just ordered a MYP today. How worried should I be about the suspension? Some of these reviews frighten me
How are you liking the MYP and the suspension? Im hating my MYP because of the suspension roughness. Thinking now I should have just bought the LRY
Did you buy any accessories? Paint protection, ceramic, tint? Where did you get them?
Accessories video coming next. I have 4 ppf videos.
Please comment on the parking in the parking is horrible for the new model
I'm not sure that I completely agree with your take on the legacy auto makers as a whole. They do have some models that are EV from the ground up. Then you have things like the Mercedes EQB and the Ford F-150 Lightning. There is no actual ICE variation of the EQE or the Mach E. With that I can concede that they have a foot in the old way of doing things and the other in the new way. I think their battle is to gently pull the part of the consumer base along that is resistant to adopting EVs. I know people that are reaching for every reason as to why they refuse to buy an EV. With one that is a truck guy it seems Tesla and Rivian's design language is the deal breaker, he prefers something more traditional looking...I also think he is not feeling the price point. Others get hung up on all of the other generic fears of moving over to EVs (range anxiety, battery replacement, and that type of stuff). I personally think Tesla does a decent job of answering those things. I can say that overall I agree with your take. I only got here because I am heavily researching the Model Y Performance and really want to make sure it would be right for me.
I was close to buying but not sure I can get over the Phantom breaking...fun to drive and ride in, performance is great with good handling etc. not sure about the seats lasting my family
if it makes you feel better my 2021 Cadillac also phantom brakes, so did my Yukon, and my F150.
is performance is much better than long range? Thanks for the video
For $3,500 extra it is worth it but unfortunately it's $3k too much to qualify for the $7,500 tax credit. So it's like $11k more to those that qualify for tax credit. NJ offers $2k additional incentive for
@@Trust_but_Verify for $11k it’s still worth it lol
I want tesla y 2023 but im confused about performance or
What’s the ride height like? Is it more like a sedan or an SUV? I currently drive a 2020 rav4 and I’m wondering if it’s comparable
Sits higher than sedan for sure. Crossover
Tires are not cheap on the y performance! I replaced my back tires at 22,000 miles which cost me 527/tire! Ouch 😢. Great review.
Is there a market to sell the 21 inch wheels/tires and downgrade to 19 inch wheels? Or would that not fit the performance brake?
@@Trust_but_Verify I just got the Gemini wheels and all season continental tires as of April 2023 and they fit just fine! Tires are cheaper and last longer than those crazy P Zero tires. I bought the Gemini wheels and tires off of EBay.
I decided to keep the 21 inch Uber turbine wheels. Not sure about the market in selling them. I am sure someone would buy them if the price is right.
I really like Teslas but for me the screen is the worst part. I hate having to look into o the screen for EVERYTHING; especially speed. Still haven’t gotten used to it. I get the whole minimalism thing but trying to navigate that screen while driving ain’t great. Could use a small amount of buttons or something, especially for climate, etc. some cool integration of a Speedo would be cool too. Wouldn’t be hard.
Learn to use the voice commands to control HVAC, etc. It’ll change everything.
I just got my MYP yesterday. Now I won’t drive it until I get the PPF.
Any opinion on Autopilot after radar and USS removed. I got mine in December and as you know the 2023 models no longer have this probably to cut costs. However, Autopilot is almost unusable with many phantom braking incidents. Unless this has always been an issue. I'm a little frustrated they removed this as Autopilot only relies on cameras and at night or in rain its quite dangerous to use.
I used FSD at midnight from Ruskin to Orlando while on vacation in Florida. The car drove itself with no issues, from driveway to parking lot.
well I would say you got pretty lucky@@takforce06
Hi, we just picked up our second 2024 Performance Model Y and it makes a different sound that our other one when putting it in reverse (no not the alien sound, it happens before that) does your performance make that sound? I will upload a video.
I still have the alien noise
@@TeslaoftheDay Me too but there's another one too
Does this model works in all weather? Notice there's a AWD Y model.
Yes this is also AWD
When did you order this?
Got it last June
10 reasons why I need some random guy on RUclips to validate and resolve me of some buyers remorse 😂
Like the flaps on the car.
8:30 interesting targeting legacy’s I thought you were going to say Rivian, lucid, Canoo ect, I would be more concerned with them.
Those company’s might survive as they don’t have ICE vehicles pulling them down. But all 3 are still non or minimal profitable. All 3 need to get past the manufacturing hurdle of mass production which they haven’t yet.
@@TeslaoftheDay I'm sure they will. Tesla had alot of set backs before they got going.
Are the mudflaps stock?
No check out my mudflap video
Hey is that the standard colour??
Yes
@@TeslaoftheDay Really nice in the sun along with the with interior.
Congratulations sir, but I feel the topic of tesla being minimal and simple is highly subjective, I feel tesla's minimalism is complex in some ways, the idea of having everything on one screen makes every other thing a little bit not that easy anymore in some cases unnecessarily difficult, take for e.g I own a Mercedes-Benz CLS 2020 and a model y, if I want to adjust my steering wheel on the merc, it's just one tap and I'm done but in the model y, I have to start digging through settings on my screen, you see on the merc it's simple and straight forward but on the model y it's simple but no longer straight forward, it's now adding unnecessary complexity to things that where just straight forward before and it's the same story with every other thing in the tesla, whether you're adjusting the seats the side mirror e.t.c everything is done through the screen, so in my opinion it's no longer simple anymore, it's now one step too many and my buddy who also owns a tesla told me something because I'm also new to ev cars as well, he told me that sometimes when there's an update, it can remap or change or relocate some settings or controls, which means having to remaster settings and controls again, so now I'm forced to find love for complexity and one step too many, so minimalism doesn't equate to user friendly, it equates to clean looks but not straight forward and simple, and on the aspect of cleaning your vehicle, it hasn't changed anything, it's the same
Everything is subjective of course. I look at it like an iphone. It’s all in one place.
I had multiple Mercedes and BMW’s prior to owning my MYP. I don’t understand the issues you’re pointing out as all I do is press the right right button on my steering wheel and issue the commands to adjust the steering wheel or mirrors. The menu comes up and it’s then very simple to make the adjustments. No digging though menus even if the menu configuration is changed via a software update. Voice commands is a key feature that a lot of people don’t take advantage off. Myself included when I first got the car. Various key settings are also stored by driver and the car will adjust these settings to each driver. Lastly, the settings can be improved via software update. The steering wheel heater change in 2023.2.0.5 is a great example of this. BMW & Merc have a long way to go to catch up with this type of functionality.
I find once I've got my driving position right I never touch the steering wheel or mirrors again so I think the design aim of burying these switches was the right one. You could alway use voice commands if you find you need to change these things often.
Seems like every tenth car I see where I live is a Tesla. They’ve come a long way.
What color is that?
Midnight silver metallic
This car has head up display or not ?
No
Ford's Mach-e is build as an EV. The same with ID.3, ID.4 etc.
Those cars are catering more to a transitional person, not fully ev yet. Yes the car is battery powered. But the experience inside and out is still trying to keep the driver in a traditional car experience and not take advantage of a computer first built car.
@@TeslaoftheDay - they are still build from ground up as an EV, no matter what you feel.
@@Krylle All point of views are valid. Thanks Krylle. If you feel Tesla and a MachE are built the same, not sure I can help you there.
New concept, you still reviewing drones?
Yup. Just not much new recently in the drone world.
Im aboit to trade in my 2023 mazda cx9 carbon edition for this exact same car.... it was a hard decision
This video should have been titled "8 reasons why i bought a Tesla, 1 reason why i chose the Model Y and 1 last reason why I chose the Performance version"
Tesla just increased their base price by $1000 on the model Y
Isn’t it plus $500?
Still a ridiculously good deal.
real range?? seems tesla loves to over state there range, so what's yours been?
It’s definitely a fun fast car but my back hurts after driving it for 1 hr in my commute to work because of the bumpy stiff suspension! Im really starting to dislike the car. I have a 2023 MYP
Feels ok to me. But I don’t really have another luxury car to compare it too. I only have another 2014 pilot.
You can’t rotate tires on the performance model because front and back has different tire size. Tire rotation made sense on the no directional tires back in the 60s. When Americans will finally catch up to the world?
Tesla told me you dont rotate the performance tires
Reason #1: Smoke all ICE cars when the light turns green
For the money you cannot beat the performance. Its equivalent to a 80-100k car in performance. A model y non performance.would. most more if you get what the MYP has afterwards. Right now the tax credit on non performance is just too big to not get it
Yeah. I placed my order for the MYLR, but I’m itching to change it to a Performance. The tax credit is the only reason why I haven’t at this point and should yield a $5,000 write off for my situation. So ultimately I’m trying to justify saying screw the credit to have the ability to smoke 95% of vehicles at the light. 😂
@@wilsonguillory2451 I’ve tested the LR and the Performance. If you’re a car enthusiast get the performance. I was the same as you with the cost, the cheaper tires, and the comfort. But once you hit that accelerator in the Performance that’s a wrap lol
@@tonyfrese6903 Is cornering different? Did the performance brake have any factor? Harshness of the ride of the 21 inch tires?
@@Trust_but_Verify much sportier from a cornering perspective and definitely stiffer ride but about as stiff as any other performance car would be like a BMW M series or something in that realm.
Tax credit on the Performance now 💪
Having an electrically-powered opening port for changing is really the most stupid design error in the history of electrically powered vehicles.
I'd argue that Tesla "minimalism" is NOT minimalist. Most cars you learn where all the buttons and knobs so you never have to take your eyes off the road. With Tesla, sure, everything IS on the screen, but you need to look at the screen to make sure you're not pressing the wrong thing. Even blind spot monitoring requires you to peek at your screen which is counterintuitive. The only saving grace is using voice commands.
This is my only gripe with Teslas. No buttons != minimalist.
I look at it as simplistic. It feels nice to not be surrounded by buttons and levers like traditional cars.
Resembles a jellybean side on
So basically what you're saying is that it's a tablet/computer with a car attached to it.
I'm not sure how I feel about that...
You're Superman you don't need a car
1. No more maintenance
2. Wife will be safe
3. driving an iPhone 😂😂
It's not completely maintenance free.
