Nice review, small note though: It's not really a push-pull-configuration, because they are wired in opposite polarity, due to the way the drivers are mounted (which looks like a push/pull). When the front driver moves in, the bottom driver moves "out" (meaning it also compresses the air in the cabinet). They function just like dual-drivers in several other subs, effectively doubling surface-area, but because they move in opposite polarity, any non-linearities in the drivers' motion in one direction is cancelled out by the movement of the other driver in the opposite direction. @@therealshanelee thanks. I figured as much but sadly can’t fit something this size behind my screen (I have dual REL212SX’s at present and they are already too big). Question was more about how these performed at 27hz and above vs the perlistens
If I read the audioholics review correctly, you got it wrong on one point: their push-pull configuration do fire in the same direction, relative to the cabinet, i.e. when the front one go out, the bottom go out. Also, for such high-end and high performing subwoofers, I think it would be worth to try them in true stereo configuration with a higher crossover point to reinforce the localization. Particularly when you drive them with a Trinnov where this configuration can be tuned exactly.
That’d work if I was doing a two channel setup but these were used for the LFE channel. I wouldn’t want the subs to be localizable. If I had a sub for every lower channel to make them full range then I think that’d make more sense for them to be localized.

Ehh, I just got SVS (pb-3000’s) sub woofers, which I am curious to try, I have no interest in paying for another set of subs so close together… especially sub woofers as big as those.. I should also add, I have never herd a truly good subwoofer, so these SVS subs will be my first attempt into boosting my bass output/first experience using subs beyond the cheap ones Samsung includes with their sub woofers, or a sub woofer we got as part of a computer audio system, which wasn’t all that great either….
SVS PB-3000 is a good subwoofer for home cinema. As long as you don't have a very large room with many rows of seats. If you do then a 2nd or ideally more SVS PB-3000's is required. How many SVS PB-3000's did you buy? And how big is your room dimensions length & width? And how many rows of seats?
@@C--A well that will depend on if I even buy a 2nd row of seats, right now I think our plan is one row, with maybe adding a 2nd at some point down the line…
The glaring problem I have with this subwoofer is that it needs to be in the room instead of behind a false wall or built into a baffle wall. If I'm spending 6 figures on a home theater I don't want to see the speakers or subs.
I'm honestly confused how in-room response can be so low - 8 hz - when the published published spec is 15 hz at MINUS SIX db. (Publishing specs at +/- 6 db is already a bit of reach imo).
Step one: invest $7K into building up a sound insulated home theater room. Step two: install an infatuate baffle subwoofer system for $4K Step three: Buy wife a $3K present Step four: actually enjoy the best bass you can get in a sealed room Step five: never be a marketing sucker again
The speakers look like octopus 🐙 arms. Not a fan of the look or the gimmick pattern on the cones. It just looks like a company trying anything to make something look different.
The Perlisten speakers use Textreme carbon fiber woofers. That's just the way thin ply carbon fiber looks like. The Perlisten speakers come with speaker grills. The Perlisten subwoofers don't come with a grill for the woofer. Also the subs don't use the Textreme Thin Ply carbon fiber woofers like the speakers.
specialformula14 thin ply carbon fiber always looks like that. It's not a gimmick, or something to look different trendy. It needs to be manufactured in a certain way, its physically impossible for Textreme woofers to look like regular carbon fiber woofers. The company who makes the Textreme Thin Ply carbon fiber woofers also do carbon fiber for Formula One teams, commercial and military aircraft. There the best in the business, have a separate audio division. The Textreme woofers on the Perlisten S7t towers etc is actually the first version. Second improved version of Textreme woofers - Textreme Metamodal is on the excellent Ex Machina active studio monitor's.
Thought I'd check out this channel again, but sadly the presenter is still hamming it up for the camera, presumably to try and emphasize the shock he got from the sub, sorry dude but it is just embarrassing, he seems to do it in all the reviews I've seen, it is pretty cringeworthy, maybe he fancies himself as an actor or something. Are you an owner of the Perliston Speakers or demoing them too? I am an M&K Owner and interested in how Perlisten may sound having some of the same designer heritage :).
Man those are purdy ❤🔥❤🔥
Great video Shane! I would be very curious how this would compare to the REL 212SX? Maybe John Hunter could send you one to test?
Been asking for months.
@@therealshanelee Thanks for the reply. I would also be very curious about the new M&K X12+.
I have found a sub that u can review then Shane. A magico titan 15 sub. Dual 15 inch , 390 pound weight, 32 000 $, 4,800 w on 120 v and 6,500 w on 230 v then. 😃😃😊😊😂😂👍👍🐥🐥🐣🐣
150lbs each 🤯 light weight baby 😭
Strong like bull! 🐂
For that price you can buy six (6) 12" Rythmik subs that would crush the guts of that Perlisten, if you have the space for them!
If it takes six to crush one that’s saying something.
i wish there were transmogs in real life, so i could make my run of the mill subwoofer look like this one does
Would love to see them compared to the Funk Audio 24" subs with 4,000 AMD 10,000w at the same price category. Pretty sure I know who will win!!
Bigger doesn’t always mean better.
@@therealshanelee nope, but the Funk make amazing subs that drop down to 6jz, A buddy has 3 and he gets down to 4jz and 126 db. They are sealed so tight as a drum and super clean. You need to do some research, e of the most amazingly sun's out there. You can get the 18" in a tiny sealed enclosure that will hit 9 Hz. You really need to check Funk Audio/Harbottle out, they are Canadian
I know what they are. But as I said. Bigger doesn’t always mean better.
@@therealshanelee I agree and not saying the Funks are better but that would be a great shootout. I think the Funks can hang and they are quick and tight. One of the near sealed subs for HT on the market. I know 2 guys that have the Funk 24" with 10,000w ams they say it is like getting your organs rearranged.
Funk, much like Perlisten, is truly end game.👍
Once I see affiliate links in a video, I no longer identify it as a review. It’s an advertisement.
Once I see a comment like this I know you’re a fool.
@@therealshaneleeAnd this defensive butthurt response strongly supports and confirms my observation. Videos of products accompanied by hyperbole and affiliate links are out and out shilling. Your channel is blocked.
@@sandsmarc idiotic comments get the appropriate response ❄️
Can't speak for American homes, but unless you're a multi millionaire in UK, there's zero chance you would ever need this..
My super budget second hand ten inch sub from Eltax shakes my living room already and that only goes down to 30hz and has max volume of 150w.
My room is about 15*20ft, you guys must live in huge houses
The disclaimer at 4:22 is really stupid. I'm not blaming you, and it's not your fault that there are people who are stupid that they need to be told that. Obviously, everything sounds different from a video compared to being there in person. I still find it very hilarious that disclaimers like those are needed.
@@C--A well I have 2 pb-3000’s for a row or two of seats, in a room that will be about 19 x 16 feet I think…
@@Ryand0523 That should be fine providing you use EQ room correction to get a smooth response for the two rows of seats.
There are good subs but the asking price is ridiculous . That must be a 8x markup. The BOM isn’t even more than 1k
I'm honestly confused how in-room response can be so low - 8 hz - when the published published spec is 15 hz at MINUS SIX db. (Publishing specs at +/- 6 db is already a bit of reach imo).
Room gain.
You did not sound excited as you did with the Martin Logan Blanceforce 12....just saying!
You won’t be disappointed with either sub.
Holy crap 💩
I n s a n e .
Step one: invest $7K into building up a sound insulated home theater room.
Step two: install an infatuate baffle subwoofer system for $4K
Step three: Buy wife a $3K present
Step four: actually enjoy the best bass you can get in a sealed room
Step five: never be a marketing sucker again
Is there a good link or video for this?
@@robg8963 Tons of infinite baffle installations on youtube. Cheaper drivers can be used with EP4000 series amps, while the output is massive.
Ya had me until $7,000.
7hz 100db, is this actually dangerous for your internal organs?🤣
🚽🧻
7 grand??? Nah bro….hell nah
7000$ . A little joke.🙃🙃🙃🙃
If he decides to pack that bs in I will sub to his channel as the rest of the time his content is pretty good.
There's plenty of stale straight laced channels out there. This ain't one of them.
