I remember when I'm a kid my dad used to hold me in my head to lift me for no reason. Now that I'm an adult I wish there is someone out there big enough to do the same to me for neck traction purposes.

Maybe lay on a hard floor (wood or laminate) and have someone pull you by your head across the floor. I pull my husband by his feet (for sciatica) down the hall then grab his arms and pull/drag the other way, back and forth about 10 times. It decompresses his back and takes away his lower back pain instantly, no pain pills needed. He's good for a few months then have to repeat.

I have severe cervical compression. I bought both over the door traction device and the inflatable device. Both are good and slightly different in the relief they deliver. They don't cure but they do give some temporary relief and that's make them worth the money. I think it is good to have both as they each have advantages.

Iuc inflatable neck traction device in between osteopath visits. It does bring me some relief without having to resort to pain killers.
I wouldn't recommend using it as a net question on a flight though. Anyone who's used an inflatable travel pillow would have noticed even the slightest drop in altitude or cabin pressure will cause the air inside to expand so that could be kind of dangerous with the traction device.

  • @astridnova7919

Thanks very much for this. Consider that, if you do this a few times a week or a day, you are increasing the blood circulation to your joints, thus their ability to repair or maintain themselves, which has been impeded by lessened blood flow due to compression. That is according to a spine surgeon I consulted who told me my neck was a mess, but not bad enough to risk operation, and that he believed that getting my neck stretched by a chiropractor regularly (using a towel to pull my neck back for 30 secs at a time) would help maintain and repair to some extent the deteriorated joints. So, my partner does this for me and it is really effective at the time, and, if we do it often, over time. But I'm looking for a device to do it in between, since partner not always available.

For neck traction, I use my pillow, use force to make a curve that can fit on my neck. I just lie down and place my neck on pillow then position my neck wherein I feel most comfortable. I don't know about other people but I feel relieve on my neck which can be compared to what neck traction's purpose. I also use lumbar back traction but I have proper equipment for that.

I now use the over the door device but mine has a plastic collapsible water bottle that the user fills with water to a specified level on the bag denoting weight. I really like it. But the over the door model you showcase seems better because it is a ratcheting device not needing a water bottle. I’ll order one of them. Thanks again for a great review.

I have the neck cushion but it always irritates the muscles in the middle of my upper back after a few minutes use so I end up taking it off - maybe I'm just cranking it up too much? It certainly makes you stand up more 'soldier like' afterwards so it's got to be useful for people with poor posture.

Thank you for your question. I do have a video about neck humps that you can check out for more information on this at ruclips.net/video/904YlMa_nGY/видео.html. Please let me know if this helps. Best wishes, Ashley.

I wonder what would happen on the door device if one of the cord attached to the metal "y" brace were to break while it is under tension? I hope the metal bar wouldn't come down and hit you on the head as that might be bad.

The inflatable neck device works wonders especially for people who sit at a deck all day and have neck and shoulder tension. The strength of the neck gave me some much needed relief to the back of my neck. I felt a release of pressure from my neck and spine.

    • @PrecisionWellbeing
      @PrecisionWellbeing  4 года назад +2

Hi Shamrock, generally speaking I'm not a fan of memory foam products because I find them hot and they often have a nasty smell too so my experience of them is not very good. Pillows are also a very personal product; some people like soft and thin, others like firm and thick etc. If you were thinking of buying one I would suggest looking for brands that give you trials or have good returns policies so you can try them and send them back if they don't help. Anyway I hope that helps you. Best wishes, Ashley

I’ve bought SupportiBack memory foam pillow from Amazon and I love it. It also has cooling gel lining to stop you from sweating at night. I have Craniocervical junction misalignment and for some time couldn’t sleep with pillow but this one has helped a lot. Dont wake up in mornings with neck pain anymore.

I bought that exact neck pillow you had the one I had before it deflated and it was no longer usable but it was a much better device,I tried to find another one just like it and the one you have was the update version and it's crap the velcro straps will not hold and it's cheaply made and it takes forever to inflate it because of the cheap pump

@@PrecisionWellbeing Thank you for responding. Currently I am shopping around for a good traction device. I will look into your over the door option (the ones I have seen on Amazon don't have good reviews- hard to use, hurt the jaw, etc..). As it stands, I just do stretches. I also lie down and try to stretch out my body by elongating it (like in yoga savasana). I am not sure if that helps. I have bulging in c4-c5, c5-c6, c6-c7. I am living with constant neck and shoulder pain. I am developing muscle atrophy in both arms, forearms, and hands. I am losing strength in both thumbs and the thumb joints are wearing down because of too much strain. I am considering PT traction (don't have insurance coverage).

    • @sherryk6703

By the way, my neurologist did not believe I had pinched nerves and didn't think the muscle loss was due to the neck problem. He recommended stretches and traction. I am in the process of seeing another neurologist. I have stopped swimming due to Covid (was swimming once a week for 1/2 hour. So not sure if muscle loss is due to lack of exercise, I am trying weights, but I can't do it regularly due to neck pain).
