One of my greatest role models once told me: “For most of our childhood, we exist in power over systems of community where we are conditioned to believe we are incapable of making meaningful choices. We know what we want, but it becomes harder and harder to recognize our want as our purpose because it becomes silent as a result of being silenced. By the time we become adults, we've forgotten who we are and no longer recognize we have the right to live in our truth because we spent so many years having that right taken from us.” Shoutout to all of those searching for meaning and true belonging, most especially those of us out to escape the triviality of buttfuck nowhere small towns. The silence is often deafening.
mmtokyo I got love & Pop and Kamikaze Girls/Memories of Matsuko.. and I’m 110% sure I’m correct. This guy applied arguably just as much Nakashima to his work as he did anno
Now I feel like whatever comment I say doesn't matter lol. I laughed at 13:24 thought it was really well implemented to what the movie was trying to tell. Some scenes felt a bit odd, where Umi says how she hates everyone or something, I mean it didn't really suit the atmosphere, but it's just my opinion in the end, a scene where she was all alone could have shown it in a more natural way. But I enjoyed to the last bit, with this persistent feeling of satirical despair. Thank you for reading my comment.
Loved it. My only gripe is that it feels like Hideaki Anno and Tetsuya Nakashima. Not a very big gripe. Literally 2 of my favorites. I just think the director has some work to do in finding his own voice
You can and should use elements of cinematography and storytelling from the filmmakers you look up to, but to take one cult film from 20 years ago (Love & Pop, 1997) and copy the story, edit style, camera work, and even entire scenes...._and_ not mention anywhere that it is an homage or interpretation...that is where inspiration becomes theft.
They have completely different plots? You could’ve just suggested that film for people who liked this short. But instead you chose to be an asshole with an easily disproved argument

常看常新,其实那些所谓有意义的事情也都无意义,我们被困在鱼缸,泳池,或者水族馆里,只是玻璃大小的更换而已。
