Thanks Bruce, the credits were the last thing we added to the film, we wanted to help wrap up the 'Tales' just in case people didn't quite get them. So its great to hear they are going down well :)
It really helped. For example the woman with the tree. I thought she got into a car accident and smashed into a tree. The credits (which btw are illustrated very well) helped immensely. This is sort of an abstract take on group therapy and it stands on it's own, but the credits gives the story context if you didn't pick it up on your own, which I did not.
i don't understand the crust one, at all EDIT I discovered shortly after posting my comment, that British children were told not to eat crusts because they'd be afflicted with curly hair (surprised they also didn't say "and your skin will darken" 🤣). Most us North Americans were forced to eat our crusts, and curly hair was a desirable trait so that's why we're so confused.
it used to be a thing to not eat crust, it was crude and improper. The kitchen help or your mom would cut the crusts off as part of their duty to family so they looked like they were proper. Curly hair was also seen as undesirable, so you put the two together and you behave horribly and eat the crust you get cursed with curly hair.
The funny thing is i thought "what could the ole wives tale about crusts be-- also that man's hair is positively gorgeous." Totally surprised that's the "curse" lmao.... I feel like there's some racism or at least xenophobia in that one, but idk really... Just an American's guess.
@@tarynestrada3760 Its more English than anything, and it was xenophobic, curly hair was associated with Irish and Scottish. Sandwiches served with tea usually have the crust cut off still. .
This reminds me of going to AA & feeling like a black sheep. I had a rare skin disease & felt like nobody could relate to being stared at in public & being alone, etc etc. Just making every excuse to be miserable. I realized running will never help me feel better. Also. I'll never get better alone.
Adopt a damn dog already. Because the whole purpose of it is just to pair up for children. Other than that, its nothing but an immense PITA. So avoid the middleman
Absolutely Brilliant! Lost count of the times my mother warned me about the wind, along with chewing gum or paper wrapping itself around my heart, trees growing inside me, itchy right hand meaning loss of money/vice-versa for left hand, ears burning due to gossips, mocking the afflicted, etc, etc. Happy days! 😀😂😂

It's interesting how different people read different things into words. I did a customer care course once that showed how 80% (I'm still a little dubious about that percentage) of a verbal conversation is not about the words - it's about the body language, tone, volume, pause, what you don't say, emphasis etc. That's why sarcasm (some call that irony) doesn't work (unless you know the person) on the internet. I had to think so hard to write that!

I love how you could just tell Aaron was smiling at the end even though his mouth was forced into that shape his eyes said it all. This would make an epic series. Absolutely fabulous work!
Edit: Had to watch it twice!
We should not change ourselves to fit social standards. Let yourself be the standard to attract people who are like us, or maybe want to be one of us
This was awesome, well shot and I loved the credits.
@@Us-Inc Yeah, I didn't get it at all until the credits.
Loved it though!
Thanks for no spoilers.
@@Us-Inc did u ever do them? Theyd make great shorts The boy who stayed in the bath to long ect... they would bd great
i don't understand the crust one, at all
EDIT I discovered shortly after posting my comment, that British children were told not to eat crusts because they'd be afflicted with curly hair (surprised they also didn't say "and your skin will darken" 🤣). Most us North Americans were forced to eat our crusts, and curly hair was a desirable trait so that's why we're so confused.
Old wives tale says that if you eat your crusts you’ll get curly hair.
it used to be a thing to not eat crust, it was crude and improper. The kitchen help or your mom would cut the crusts off as part of their duty to family so they looked like they were proper. Curly hair was also seen as undesirable, so you put the two together and you behave horribly and eat the crust you get cursed with curly hair.
Ben Cotterill in that case ill only eat crusts from now on!!
Sandwiches served with tea usually have the crust cut off still. .
How simply beautiful
And that song...so perfect. Brilliant!
This reminds me of going to AA & feeling like a black sheep. I had a rare skin disease & felt like nobody could relate to being stared at in public & being alone, etc etc. Just making every excuse to be miserable.
I realized running will never help me feel better. Also. I'll never get better alone.
Everyone feels like that. Wait'll you get older. Then you just won't give AF and you'll be cured. Lol
Vitiligo?
There is someone out there for all of us, so don’t you dare, don’t you dare, stop looking.
Adopt a damn dog already. Because the whole purpose of it is just to pair up for children. Other than that, its nothing but an immense PITA. So avoid the middleman
This was so beautiful. These are the stories that should be told in cinema more often.
This was beautiful. Some short films are very cliche. This was genuine and refreshing.
joking right?
This is what film making is about. Absolutely fantastic, from concept to execution.
I love the idea , simplicity , creative but deep
Absolutely Brilliant!
Lost count of the times my mother warned me about the wind, along with chewing gum or paper wrapping itself around my heart, trees growing inside me, itchy right hand meaning loss of money/vice-versa for left hand, ears burning due to gossips, mocking the afflicted, etc, etc.
Happy days!
😀😂😂
I’m only 14 years old, and found this on the explore page, this was extremely entertaining and made me open my eyes
Thank you for also making the point of how truly horrifying it is for kids to be told these old wives tales
Really sweet little short, even loved the joke set early on about always drink your milk to grow big. The Crust one was new, didn't know that one beforehand. Excellent work
I missed that completely. Thank you
I don't understand the crust one. Please explain it to me.
Mister Justice no worries. Had to look it up myself. The saying goes that eating the crust turns your hair curly
Awesome! You could actually feel his pain through the whole thing... Great film ♥️
Probably the most beautiful film I've ever seen.
That was the best 8 minutes I've ever spent watching a video. Moving, intellectual, and touching. Well done
I urge you to search 'The Candidate' by Dust..... They make short films and The Candidate is brilliant.
@@jim191185
Just watched it. The Candidate was solid and very well written but I'm a romantic at heart and Cautionary Tales resonated more with me.
Edit:
The concept has grown on me and it's unsettling how they eventually found him. Thank you!
That was just fricking awesome! The pip girl took a few minutes, and I totally missed Stevens problem till the end. Great script. Tired of stuff reliant on graphics. I swear, the grin on my face when she walked in at the end, I totally felt that instant recognition of your soul mate. Can't express that better with graphics!
Simply. Wonderful.
The woman with the tree growing out of her mouth shouldn't have eaten those seeds.
no stop dont say that
brooke anne What? She swallowed a pip and grew a tree he wasn’t meaning to offend next time watch the full video.
@@susgib296 no sorry i think you misunderstood my tone, i watched the whole video, i meant like no don't say that because its creepy to think that could happen. I've accidentally swallowed watermelon seeds when I was younger and my mom said a tree was gonna grow. i don't expect you to know that of course but I meant as like, ew no don't say that its creeping me out
brooke anne oh ok
It's interesting how different people read different things into words. I did a customer care course once that showed how 80% (I'm still a little dubious about that percentage) of a verbal conversation is not about the words - it's about the body language, tone, volume, pause, what you don't say, emphasis etc. That's why sarcasm (some call that irony) doesn't work (unless you know the person) on the internet. I had to think so hard to write that!
I remember when I was little and I was upset with my mother, I would stick my bottom lip out, she would either pinch it, or tell me it was going to get stuck like that. I got the reference as soon as I started the video. This was a great video. You earned a new subscriber!
In 202O it’s rare one find moments to be proud of being British.... but this film is so brilliantly British it’s easy to remember the things we do do well. And this was one of them.
This guy like: "Do you want to know how i got these scars?"
дима строганов My father.....lived.......in a society.
Why did this silly short film make me actually tear up a bit?
It made myself happy almost brought me to tears when the girl showed up. Beautiful. Good job guys
''Quit making that face or one day it will stay like that.'' [Mothers everywhere.]
"Yeah um it helped me to release alot "*stroking his stick*.
Maybe the stick is his deeekk
"I'll stick to what you know" said the dog to his walker. Let's say he's more a barker & less of a talker.
