Aston Martin’s DB12 sports car signals a fresh style and new tech for the brand, as well as arguably being one of its prettiest models in years. We sent Tim Pollard to catch a sneak preview and chat with Miles Nurnberger, Director of Design at Aston Martin.

Hah. Not even close. Much, much too aggressive. The best car they have made in the modern era is the 2012-era facelifted DB9, or perhaps the Virage.
FINALLY ....the interior fits the standard of the exterior

I so agree with the choice of not overding it with screens but keeping beautiful high-quality buttons for great tactility. Amazing choice. Well done.
Yet Bentley and Rolls Royce have far superior tech.. QUit making excuses for AM's cheap cost cutting ways. Their interiors creek like crazy.
@@danielmiller9012 Bentley and Rolls-Royce have behind VW and BMW. Aston Martin is independent so far. Have fun driving some rebadged Audi or similar. Also, how would you possibly know the quality of this new one since it's still in pre-production?

The most complete Aston I've ever seen, the exterior is so subtle and so beautiful. Finally, thank God, an interior that an Aston deserves. An incredible car, I can't wait for the driving review, well done Aston Martin.
OMG it's gorgeous inside and out, Aston killed it with this one. It's literally perfect.

The only thing that screamed for change was Aston's interiors and, wow, they have returned with a vengeance. Restrained and beautifully elegant. Getting into the DB12 will be like slipping into a, modern, Savile Row suit. Hats off! Gorgeous car that is going to thrust Aston back into the forefront.
Really can’t see any difference at the rear compared to the DB11.

This...this is next level. Honestly one of the best super gt ever made. The exterior is a combination of all the best designs, and the interior is Bentley level now! Way better than the db11 which looked sterile and too technical compared to the soulful db12 which actually gives off old school vanquish vibes mixed with modern day dbs ques

What a stunning car. Oooooh those swoopy headlights! Takes the best styling element of every recent big Aston and blends them all together in something that looks better than all of them. And OMG! They've FIXED the interior! Finally an Aston interior I could love. This is going to be a MASSIVE seller for Aston.

The V12 is gone, and the magic exhaust note it produced is also no more. Inevitable but so so sad, farewell AM V12, my ears will miss you. 😢
I love it. I've always loves AMs but always felt their interiors let them down. This is a game changer. It's going to be a huge seller.

The interior is just..... right.
Aston Martin has just nailed it. They have done a remarkable job by creating a new evolutionary design both on the Exterior and the Interiors. It now looks like a perfect British Brand car in every essence. Definitely a perfect rival to the Porsche 911 Turbo, I am waiting for its on-road performance and it looks very promising
I like it. I bought a Ferrari 812 Superfast, and at the time was torn between that and the DBS Superlegerra - I chose the 812 because the interior of the DBS was so "old man" and the tech was two generations ago Mercedes MBUX. This DB12 is a thing of beauty, both inside and out - here's hoping the next DBS is the same!
There was definitely no love lost here when the Mercedes console was ditched for this one. It's a nice balance of tactile buttons and tech and the response of the screen is apparently leading edge too.
I'm loving this interior, finally a interior that matches Aston Martin glamour. Please bring that luxury to the DBS superleggera, the DBS is my fav AM of all time, such a stunner.
Very few manufacturers give you the sleek sexy elegant, yet aggressive sporty exterior, and a classy luxury interior. Usually, it's more one of the other, but I think Aston Martin balances it all very well. I'm so happy to see the updated infotainment system. The old gen hand-me-down mercedes one was not the move and really didn't feel like it lived up to the expectations set by the exterior (and price point).
I like Aston Martin as a brand and I'm liking this DB12. As a package it works ; face-lift looks good , classy two door Coupe with a big boot and now the interior / user inter-face / connectivity is on point. This is a nice up-grade from DB11.......Well done Aston > 9/10
Why the press keep trying to level AM and the 911T???? It makes no sense at all. They’re totally different proposals.
Aston Martin have nailed it with the DB12, it looks just right. If you really want to critise it then you could infer it is generic DB9, DB11, Vanquish, Vantage, shape. You can see all those cars in the design, but really that is just the Aston Martin design language and when you have cars that look this good why diverge from it too much.

Pleased to see the interior upgraded but not enough exterior differentiation with DB11 for my liking.
That is the best looking modern Aston by far. It looks grown up and refined. A great leap forward. Absolutely beautiful.

You know, I'm looking now at my 1970 DBS Vantage rear profile and there's a lot of similarity here! Which is great because the rear profile of the early DBS I think is one of the most beautiful ever styled!!

Lol… I am enjoying my 2020 vantage but… I find it a little hilarious that it’s a “revolutionary” moment that they’re now including features you could get in a Hyundai 5 years ago. Again I own an Aston and know the deal but… it’s still funny.

It has a lot of first gen F-type coupe in it...which is a good thing. Nice interior. The big issue with AM is pricing.

That’s because, essentially, that’s what it is. The real money has gone on the interior, looks a great job.
With those looks the V12 version, if there is one, would have to be named Vanquish. They are saying that DBS Ultimate is thr last V12, but you can only hope...

With Geely increasing their stake in Aston Martin to 50% and news that the Aston Martin F1 team will be using Honda engines in 2026 (rather than Mercedes), I wouldn't be surprised if Mercedes Benz sells their share of Aston Martin. It's telling that this new DB12 uses in-house infotainment and not an older generation Mercedes system.
Not an expert by any means but I think this new AM is simply beautiful.

@@sajid6027 that’s all subjective. An Aston Martin has never been better than the equivalent Porsche. It’s not going to be the case now. As an everyday GT/supercar, you just can’t beat a turbo 911 as an all rounder. I’m not even a Porsche fan but I can concede that.

It’s time to update the vantage as well. That’s the car they really need selling in my opinion.
Looks quality. For me, I’d still not have a touchscreen because they are shit for a car but you have to cater for the masses. And I’d like a nicely crafted rev counter. Like a decent watch. With screens either side opposed to a digital dash. But the rest is spot on for me.
Calling it now there will be a V12 BDS version.

Good thing to see a vastly new and improved cabin for Aston Martin, their previous ones are just the worst compared to the competition especially to Bentley.
Not the best Aston Martin grille ( 2005 AM V8 Vantage - still the best ).
Finally an interior that is Aston worthy and not an old Mercedes bin parts

“It’s not 56% bigger (but I too will remain vague about the increase in size of the grill). It’s actually reminiscent of the DB5..” - the familiar Aston grill shape and this car is silver just like the Bond DB5. Is this actually reminiscent of the DB5? No. No it’s not.
“Cooling justification here, cooling example there and some additional cooling rhetoric that we believe is necessary ti distract from the real reason why even we have followed the cartoonishly large grill proportions that everyone else has incorporated”
China. Because Chinese people actually do consider grill acreage to be more important than company heritage, pedigree, vehicle performance, build quality and emotional experience.
Or, every established car company is as clinical and as soulless as Samsung or Asus.

This puff-piece with scripted questions is just as genuine as the DB12. Both are false representations of worthwhile content. Both are cynical and patronising products designed to maximise income requiring the least amount of effort in as safe a manner as possible.
The Valkyrie is a special machine. The DB12 is boring and as anonymous as a two-hundred grand sports car can possibly be.
And there I was thinking that Aston had turned a corner. If they have then they turned into a cup-de-sac. I’m sure it’ll be the best-selling Aston yet!

Hope they sort the ownership proposition. Insane service and parts prices uncertain reliability result in mega depreciation. If it came with a 5 or ten year service plan and warranty 🤔

How is it a facelift? It has a ton of changes in the exterior and the interior is completely new.

I think Bentley is in big trouble followed by Ferrari Roma and to a lesser extent 911 turbo. This bridges the gap between DB11 and DBS770, and able to do both jobs. I would say that is the end of any DBS style front mounted machines, the next up will be the mid engined vanquish. They have done a great job with this, lets hope the lights dont leak like my last 3 Vantages
How so? The Roma and 911 are much smaller cars, while the Bentley is a full sized GT, for crossing continents in extreme comfort and ease! The smaller cars are still brilliant, but don't compare when it comes to actually being a proper GT. It has the space to put all your luggage in, it's quieter and for more easy torque to make long journeys less stressful. The DB12 is definitely a step up incompetition and it's closest rival for sure.
@@Nemoticon The Roma is a bigger car if you read the specs, the 911 is a different style of car their comments not mine, that said the 911 is also much larger than days of old. I guess my argument is the DB11 had the GT style/credentials of the Bentley, but the change in mindset has moved it more to a drivers focused car over a GT therefore making it more like the Roma. Clearly there will never be another DBS this will be the highest performance GT or Super tourer as they are describing it. The next model up will be mid engined in the Vanquish when it arrives.
@@craigmoy5428 The 'Roma is a bigger car' than the Bentley? It's smaller in every physical sense, with less trunk space and only 2 seats, with a smaller tank/less range,lol. Yes, the Porsche is bigger than ever, but still a much smaller car then the Bentley.... there literally is NO comparison.
Also, there may very well be a DBS version of the DB12 in the future, as Ason Martin have said that they have made provisions to fit a V12 in the car at a later date. I still see it has a proper GT though, regardless.

basically its a nicer looking DBS on the outside. they've been talking about details that are already exist in the recent DB11,nothing exceptionally, new .the main revolution surrounds the dashboard which is truly a mega-much needed-change for Aston

I feel like the Porsche Turbo takes a sports car right up to the line where grand touring starts and just steps over. This seems to take grand touring right up to the line of sports car and just pushes past that line.
Easy to see how someone would consider having either car.
Shame they didn't use this interior in the DBS Ultimate, shame there's no V12, I get it doesn't need to be there but still V12s are a bit special.

I'm in the minority on this because I don't find the DB11 or 12 to be a remotely good looking car. At least now, however, the interior looks to match the price tag.
Im not a big fan of the current trend of grills getting bigger and bigger, the DB11 was much more elegant and gentleman-like. But it didnt sell, so i guess they had to give in to the Zeitgeist. The interior is a huge upgrade though of course.
