This game saved my life. My dad had just passed away from lung cancer, and I was 19, and so effing lost. Then, I saw a new KH game had come out and my mind went: "you like KH. It's good, it's always been there. Buy it. Play it." And I did. I fell in love with the story, the dream eaters, the music and the gameplay, and the worlds. Then, I came in the World that Never Was for the second time (since I've played KH2 before) and the music just... shook me. It resonated so well with my inner sadness that I started crying and couldn't stop, didn't leave my room for a total of three days after that. It was the first time I felt any emotion other than "numb" after my dad's passing. I needed that at the time. And it was the beginning of my long recovery. Now, I'm almost myself again, and I can only thank this game, and the people who made it.

Kingdom Hearts also helps me a lot when goinf through dark patches in my life. Glad yer feeling better :)
Aww I'm so sorry and,can only hope your doing much better, kingdom hearts in general saved,my,life, last year, been a fan forever, but the hype train for kh3 and playing each game over and, over really helped me through my rough life last, year can only hope yours is going well and your dad is,looking down on you smiling proud 😌
I'm glad DDD helped you so much. It's amazing how Kingdom Hearts can resonate with us so vividly, and help us through some of the toughest times. Cheers man, I hope you're doing well
Mysterious... Creepy... Painful... Worrying... That's for me how feels this song. The feeling of a growing nightmare you're walking through, but you're not yet totally aware of.
Yes, but also interesting, and urging you to just get this adventure over with and just keep going.
I wouldn't call this creepy at all
I think you are partly wrong, this soundtrack is mysterius, kind of climax, hope that almost lost and now your all alone without a possibility to going back, you have to look straight and be focus, thats the feelings i get from this ost
The feeling of running in slow motion in a dream. Sounds similar to CHARIOTS of FIRE
''Reminiscence of the battle against the once proud and strong Organization XIII... But now, even after their demise, we return into this forever hollow world, seeking the whereabouts of the man behind the Organization itself''
This song always gives me this kind of feeling, an aftermath
"Keep going!"
--In-game instructions
Honestly this game tops a lot of games out there. It's unique and has its' own style no other game can emulate/compete with. Everyone I know that hasn't played it claim it's "childish" due to the Disney characters but its contents are more mature/deep than other games out there like call of duty and crap. This has meaning. It doesn't focus on looking "badass". This game is powerful. It made me laugh, smile, cry, cherish friendship more, question myself even. It's more than just a game, a lot more.
No, it's silly and childish, too, and thats okay 😊
Seriously though, Woody giving Xehanort a monologue on how wrong he is to close his heart and that friends
@@ma_juniaYes, the game has its silly and childish moments like the one you mentioned or the fact that for the gummy ship to work you must smile and have good thoughts but the game also has its Serious, heavy and even disturbing moments, such as the fact that ventus murdered strelitzia (even though he was being controlled) that the dream eaters are the souls of the ancients Keyblade wielders fused with their chyritis to sleep in the dream world protected from the darkness or the fact that all the events of the series are being done behind the curtain by the master of masters who sees everything and everyone as merely pieces on his board game
I actually think this is WAY better than Sacred Moon.
Sacred Moon lacks the power that's needed for a final world, this is much better.
Works great for its role as the hub of Days, though.
@@CampingforCool41 I agree
SAME!!!!
I like them both and I can't choose a favourite, if I'm being honest. They both have different strengths that make them great tracks in their own right
The plot twist on Organization XIII in KH3D was one of the best parts of the game in my opinion. It was also very dark, especially when you really think about the fact that Xehanort does not care if he erases the original personality of these individuals just to replace them with his own.
Sure. The story was told horribly.
The fact that in 3 it just felt like they accepted being xehanort so yeah but still can't believe the xigbar twist started since bbs
They didn't accept it lmfao even larxene n xigbar proclaim it to be the case @@alexacosta4754
This is probably one of the best tracks in the whole franchise. It fits the mood perfectly. Foreboding and almost melancholy. But you have a drive to keep on moving forward regardless.
Exactly. Many fans were unsatisfied with KHII's plot, as they felt that Nobodies may have been unintentionally sympathetic. KH3D really plays up this fan reaction, by saying that in fact they WEREN'T that evil, but were instead being manipulated behind the scenes by Xehanort, who is really, REALLY evil.
Man have I always been against the will of the fandom ? I liked how the nobodies were " unintentionally sympathetic " . The plot made killing them a conflict and made me feel sad for them . Then dream drop distance comes and shits on the plot and I realize that everything I believed in was a lie .
I don't care what the plot says , I'm just going to pretend this twist never happened
@@Faceless_time_traveler SPOILERS FOR KINGDOM HEARTS III AHEAD BELOW THE CUT:
And Xehanort himself is apparently not that evil after all. Or at least, that's what III's ending would have us believe, but he may fall "Unintentionally Unsypathetic".
@@Faceless_time_traveler It made killing them a conflict to the player, who doesn't get a say in what happens in the story, but not for the characters, who didn't seem to mind that they are murdering people. Compare this to Chain of Memories, where Sora was freaked out about Vexen's death, and both he and Riku only started killing the Organization members when they weren't fully themselves anymore, and maybe you can see why I hate the KH2's story. It's not the only reason it's the worst in the series, but it's a pretty big one. The beginning of the story is still the best in the series, but that doesn't redeem the rest of it, except for the parts with Axel and Roxas.
@@Faceless_time_traveler Tbf, the lie was in our faces the entire time. Demyx straight-up tells Sora they actually had hearts in Hollow Bastion. And when Axel dies, he tells Sora “Roxas made me feel like I had a heart.” And 358 makes it even more clear considering there’s a scene with Xion questioning ether they need hearts in the first place (not realizing she has one).
That’s fine if you don’t like it but just know it wasn’t really much of a twist. Moreso a “confirmation”.
@@OzzyNe0n Nah Xehanort was still evil. His entire motivations stem from wanting to recreate the universe from scratch. Which can be considered a noble cause until you realize he was planning to destroy the entire universe to do it.
Besides, his true motivations were mentioned in the Xehanort reports in BBS.
I love getting passed the disney parts of the games and getting to the story, Just reminds me how great SquareEnix are at story telling.
Kingdom Hearts should get rid of Disney altogether. Everyone plays Kingdom Hearts for the original characters, bosses and music. The Disney crap is just filler.
What I'm trying to say is that I've watched the Disney movies. I know the stories and it's boring to play through. I like the other worlds that don't follow a Disney story and have their own.
I know right, the Disney characters add a lot to the series and I also think they're the most boring to get past, but I love how it influences the story.
That...really isn't true. Hell, most people bought the game to begin with because it had Disney in it. I think they could do a better job of incorporating the disney stuff into the story, like in the first game, but it really isn't true that people only play for the original stuff...I mean just look how people reacted to Toy Story being in kh3.
cr8zyshredda007 Bullspit!
sacred distance makes me feel sad and lonely without my old friends
Chilling, sorrowful, and a little light-hearted. Like walking through the ruins of a place long forgotten.
Pretty much describes The World That Never Was to a nice, perfect tee.
The leap in music quality from BBS to DDD was incredible
To me this song feels of desperation, exhaustion, and fear.
The KH series is great at having really, really creepy last worlds, where you know that BAD shit is about to go down. The music reflects that, and this is no exception. This is arguably even creepier than the Keyblade Graveyard.
This isn't really creepy; just somber.
this sounds very sad man. imagine there was a great war that lasted years and when you finally come home, all you see is the carnage and destruction that the war left behind, as you walk to the rubble that used to be a peaceful city turned to hell, you see all the carnage and you shed a tear(cue sacred distance)
Miguel Ayala I'm interested to see if any Keyblade wielders who survived the Keyblade war. Only to see their home a complete wasteland. With something like this playing would be incredibly powerful.
true bro.
Beautiful track, probably my favorite world theme
Its so creepy yet so epic..
This music is perfect to listen to on a rainy day
Its raining as im listening to this lol
Kingdom hearts : dream drop social distancing
Oh my gosh i could stay in this place forever with this song and never want to leave
I think playing as Sora in the dream world of this final level is very haunting since TWTNW is reduced to nothing, but the destructive aftermath of the battle that himself and Riku faced off against Xemnas towards the end of Kingdom Hearts II.
this soundtrack gives me chills.
This may actually be better than sacred moon
It is. Sacred moon doesn't have a very memorable theme I think.
I prefer this one over it too. But I think this one fits the theme of revisiting in a nightmare version of it.
@@CampingforCool41 In all honesty I'd say the haunting lead melody of the choir in Sacred Moon is 5 times more memorable compared to this song. But the instrumentation in this one is generally better.
@@CampingforCool41 nah nah nah sacred moon all the way
@@bdubsfr to me scared distance all the way
Man, when I hear this, I just think about Sora playing right into Xehanort's plans, sinking deeper and deeper into the dream, doomed by his own heroism...brrr...
This place had by far the nastiest special portals, particularly for Riku. Sora's worst one for me was the one with the white Ryu Dragons, Aura Lions and Tyranto Rexes and use three counterattacks. Riku's worst was, surprisingly enough, the one with the same Dream Eaters but you had to avoid getting hit three times (found out the hard way that that moving wall could be included in that) and the most annoying was the one where you had to kill three Aura Lions within 20 seconds. Took me forever to finally get that one right.
Zero Graviza + Thundaga makes most of them a bit of a joke, IMO.
Matt Gavin
Really? I always did a Graviza + Balloonga/Dark Firaga (depending on the character) combo. Still don't like those white Aura Lions.
The Aura Lion battle portal in the Fact Within Fiction area for Riku's side is truly a nightmare. Tough enemy, the sliding floor level energy beams and the time limit. Unless you've overlevelled you need to spam Balloon spells just to complete the battle portal in the time limit.
I feel like this works better for the city in the World that Never Was, while Sacred Moon works better for the castle.
Deep Drop totally beats Deep Drive though.
Agreed.
You took the words STRAIGHT out of my mouth.
@@ReptilianTeaDrinker same
You had me in the first half
Amen
I ADORE THIS SONG!! so pretty.
1:18 this is like you are in the world that never was and you are surrounded by tall buildings and looking at the memory skyscraper
The music made this game 10x better than it was and it was a pretty amazing game by itself.
Thank you for uploading. :)
A beautiful, chillingly warped version of Dearly Beloved and Sacred Moon.
I never realized that Dearly Beloved is in there
I'm obsessed with this theme. It reminds me of the Dreamy Somnom Labyrinth theme from Dream Team Bros :D
I love the aura 1:07 gives out.
This music is where we are at our end of Dream Drop Distance and heading to III.
I remember the song that ease my soul full of hatred.
1:22 my favorite part.
Its unsettling, like when children start laughing or singing in scary movies... makes things worse. at the same time this song in KH2 made me feel bad for the Nobodies alot... I never felt as though any of them were truely evil, they were just emotionless cases searching how to somebodies again and i think this song en captures that :)
The music for The World That Never was just gets darker and darker
By far one of my favorite songs in this game form the background to the violin it's so sad and beautiful and I used to just sit here and let the music play
Listen to this in Manhattan at night
This is my favorite world theme so far in the series. I'm really looking forward to see how they top this in KH3.
Unfortunately they didn't top 3D's soundtrack
@@WarioLand3 agree
@Ilyas SEDDIKI imo edge of existence topped sacred distance, even if it is lighter than this one. Btw both of them are beautiful.
When i hear this song, i feel so empty... sorrow... sadness... loneliness... and desperate.
This is one of my favorite songs in the whole game
This makes,me feel like I'm venturing through my nightmares trying to find a way out wondeing where i am where everyone is and what could happen next, very scary thought
In my opinion, TWTNW felt more like a world that’s dying. And when I say dying, I don’t mean as in becoming devoid of life, I mean like the world itself is dying. When you have the chance, look around. It looks as if everything is gradually falling apart and fading away, as if some omnipotent force is stripping away the world’s sustaining essence.
@@AzureMoebius22 that's so true
KH2 was great, but level design definitely wasn't one of its strengths. so, having the original world that never was be a collection of 6 hallways and 4 open rooms was pretty unfortunate, after KH1 having an awesome final area like hollow bastion.
with dream drop distance having really great level design, I'm glad they added the world that never was to the game, giving it a chance to finally feel like an actual fortress and an actual (very twisted) city.
It's just my opinion, but I think this song is a lot more emotional and heartfelt than Sacred Moon. Just the sweet violin notes, the harmonious, melancholy piano, and the perfect tempo to really drive things home.
Lots of people say they hated the plot of KH3D because they found it confusing but its personally one of my favourite games in the series, because after so many years, when I got 2.8 HD Final Chapter Prologue on the PS4, it was the first time I was playing a KH game that took place AFTER KH2. I never played Coded because I didn't have a DS.
In the end the one who gave into the darkness is most worthy of wielding the light
I'd live in this world, tbh.
"Even the Organization's world is sleeping...."
Interesting you say that. In KH3D, this world felt like it was dying. And I don’t mean like becoming a wasteland or all life perishing, I mean like the world itself is fading away. It feels almost like a much slower process of a world sinking into darkness before becoming like The End of The World from the first game.
This is what my clinical depression sounds like... :'3
I hope you got help. 🤨
Sora: Is the Organization's world sleeping too?
Am I the only one that thought the part between 1:08 and 1:16 sounds a bit like Dearly Beloved?
Most of the piano progression throughout the song is in the style of DB. Similar to what The Key does. That specific time is actually an echo of the Sacred Moon theme.
I love the violin, I just love it! A very beautiful piece of music!
So this is the music for The World That Never Was this time around. sweet
To be honest, if Sora continues to be as gullible and easily lured as he was in Chain of Memories and Dream Drop Distance, he could very well end up getting possessed. He walks straight into the traps of the Organization.
I concur with that 1000% it can really change your view of life.
Staying distant, like 2020.
This is one of those few games I prefer watching more than playing because I think of them as movies more than games
Beautiful! I think the exact same thing!! :'] I've gotten many people to play and/or watch me play Kingdom Hearts, I'm still working on it - I want to share Kingdom Hearts with as many people as possible! :D
KH has has affected alot of people in positive ways 👏 so good to hear
I keep getting Falsebound Kingdom vibes from this.
I freaken love this song!!!
Legit, I can listen to this for hours :)
I must say, when I first heard this, it didn't make me think of TWTNW. Instead, what came to mind was this: A mysterious cave beneath the earth. One that bears crystals of all types that shine with their own seemingly otherworldly light. The ceiling of the cavern, to those who pass through it, seems as beautiful as the night sky with diamonds sparkling like the starry cosmos beyond the land we are bound to.
The name of this place?
The Enigmatic Caverns.
wow just so fucking beautiful....i can listen to this for hours
Thanks for the upload
This theme is so awesome. I downloaded the song.
The beginning reminds me a bit of "lord of the castle" from re chain of memories.
yeah, there's a variation of dearly beloved in this theme.
Running in slow-motion. Like in your dreams.
Whenever I get a writer block , I listen to this . It's oddly inspiring
Very well said. It's all true, this game is more than the mechanics contained in the system that it is played on.
It's there: Listen to the piano part from 1:07 to 1:17, that's actually the main theme from Sacred Moon in slow motion ^^
It's definitely in there.
It's just fucked out how smart xehanort is. I mean when you think about it, that dude is a true badass of the evil characters, in all his versions
Namine
Xion
Roxas
Terra
Ventus
Aqua
The feels. ;w;
Even though this theme portrays the sinister tone well for a last world, I still thing that the most sinister will be the theme for end of the world in KH1. That theme was just so eerie and creepy, that you just knew (aside from the title) that this was gonna be the last world, and it was not gonna be a cakewalk.
Sounds cool.
I agree, although for it's time, and being a novelty, that was quite good.
I remember my younger brother loving this level and music but being annoyed that you could interact and climb all buildings but the most 'famous' one with the led screens in which Riku and Roxas fought. And rightfully so, they kind of messed up there, lol.
thanks dude your awesome :)
I imagined myself walking epically in slow motion to this track
True that!
Deep Drop Sacred Distance
I absolutely adore this song...to me, it's 1/3 TWTNW, 1/3 Silent Hill, and 1/3 badass :D
'd say this music is more sad and Depressing than creepy. That's just me though.
Sacred moon is good, but this one just sounds more grim
What this needs is a rain effect
listen at 1.75 speed for a jam
@MrWTFxD exactly and in certain boss fights its kind of sad because its like an emotional fight too lik when ur fighting xion in days
It's kind of strange to have such a peaceful tune for Xehanort's stronghold. But eh, I really like it.
Keep Going!
Although it is even creepier that the song is like a distorted version of Dearly Beloved.
I feel like I'm standing on an electric moon.
~the part where the violin comes in
So mysterious, so brilliant... So Kingdom Hearts. This version is even better than the original of KH II, don't you think so ?
I know there's a bit of it in the piano parts, but I kind of wish they'd just kept or redone Sacred Moon. I was so excited when Sora first arrived in TWTNW because it played but then I was like, "...Oh."
This was still good, though. It definitely portrayed all things sinister in Sora's part of the story and ending. ;)
Well, TWTNW has been the final world for at least three Kingdom Hearts games - KH2, KH Days and now KH3D
THIS is how they should have done The World That Never Was in KHII. What's the point of having skyscrapers and an epic floating castle in an action-RPG if you can't interact with the environment?
As i said to the first comment about this, that's The World That Never Was it's theme. Look up Sacred Moon (from KH2 and Days) and Mystic Moon (from Days).
No Dearly Beloved whatsoever. Not even reversed or re-arranged.
These soundtracks r so underrated but KH would b so much better if more was added on like having its own kind of different worlds 2 travel n not copy just disney storylines
This version is so much better. Shame the 3DS sound system struggles to play this as beautifully. Just wish the rest of the soundtrack wasn't so circus like.
at least we got it now on ps4 :)
And its amazing!
Now we can play the music in melody of memory :')
