You know what I found really impressive in this song? It's because from this music I can hear Square Enix saying: "Hey players! You can now enjoy the whole of this world (yknow.. fifth district, post office, etc), then you can also enjoy the whole of the song! (the only thing we've heard before is the chorus)" I found it really mindblowing when I realized that
I don't know if it'll happen, but I would love to explore the rest of Traverse Town again! I loved seeing it. Except now every time I go to the Fountain Plaza I get the Julius cutscene and boss fight... Lol Anyway, I've always found Traverse Town to be a lovely world. And it's nice to have a familiar world to go to in almost all of the games.

KH1 Traverse Town sounds like when a kid (like Sora was) only knows the chorus part of a song and keeps singing that part repeatedly with faster tempo KH3D Traverse in Trance is when that same kid grew up and sings the full song from start to finish
I have only begun marathoning the KH series last year, but gosh, this hit me hard, even to a new fan like me, the return can feel so magical like you haven't been there in such a long time This game captures that feeling so darn well
Same, I actually picked it back up during my graduation trip in 2022 traveling to and at Disney World, and then for the rest of that summer when I got back home! Like you said, it really heightened the summer vibes and really brought back the nostalgia vibes I experienced 10 years before when my brother who introduced me to that game was still alive, and it just made it really nice to have those happy memories live on instead of all it just being gone forever.
@@colinkrulzI am sorry to hear about your brother and I’m happy he was able to share you a piece of what made him happy and congratulations on your success from school. Kingdom Hearts definitely helped changed lives including mine. It helped me with depression when I was younger. Keep the positive vibes going and may your heart be your guiding key
I kind of bought this game close to my summer vacation of 2017, along with 358/2 Days, and they both made my end of the school year through summer break memorable. DDD and 358/2 are nostalgic to me for that reason, well KH as a whole. I started playing the games in 2017, when I was 14-15 years old.
I played this game after my father passed away, to busy myself and try to fill the void. I buried myself in it, and I kept coming back to Traverse Town over and over just to hear the theme. It's just so soothing. I love the original as well, mind you, but this... I should play it again, it's been a while :D
:( brought a couple tears reading this...he will meet up with you in the next life and you will hear this song playing when you guys embrace once again.
So many memories flash back into my head.. me playing on that blue, 3ds xl. Loving the new KH game... so simple and clean back then, I knew nothing, just played the game for fun. This track almost brings tears to my eyes... 2012-2013... what a great time. Me trying to figure out how to get Ryu Dragon... me playing the game, just messing around... being AMAZED at this game... playing it for the first time, it truly is a wonder. I love this game, it will always be near and dear to my heart. Thank you, Square. Disney, everyone involved in making this game series. I won't ever forget it, thank you for bringing me my childhood. I will always love you Square.
One of the most beautiful tracks in the entire series. It gives me nostalgia from last year when I first played Dream Drop Distance on my newly bought N3DS, which felt like Christmas (and was actually around Christmas), and then this, my most nostalgic theme from way back in 2004, remixed as a soothing lullaby to fit the theme of DDD. Man, this really sets the atmosphere for the rest of the game. 7.8/10, too many Dream Eaters interrupting Traverse in Trance.
For some reason, this theme sounds like Christmas for me. Like Sora and Riku having a Victory Lap for Traverse Town after they beat the heartless in this town during Kingdom Hearts 1 and Chain of Memories
my brother's really into the kingdom hearts series, and this theme always stuck with me. even though i wasn't into the games like he was, it's still so nostalgia. he's moved out now, and i'm about to go to college hours away from him, but i miss him so much. :(
This song has such a strong sense of nostalgia. I vividly remember KH1 coming out and playing it a lot, and Traverse Town felt like home with it's nice and cozy theme. This version really feels like a nostalgic tour through your childhood street/area after being away for so long. It really makes me feel like I'm having casually strolling through Traverse Town after all this time has passed, remembering landmarks and certain parts, and even with its differences, it still feels the same.
Best version of Traverse town's theme ever! I really get the "trance" feeling and it's always nice when a theme lives up to it's name. I also love this game, but I'm in love the entire series so it's to be expected. Though I will say Birth By Sleep is still my favourite of the hand held games.
Im so damn glad this was my first KH Game, what a great first impression, i also caught up with the story thanks to the Chronicles section, DDD ´s a blessing.
This brings back memories, I used to play a demo version of this game on my 3ds, I always loved the ending part of this song. I wish I could go back to those days.
Kingdom hearts Dream drop distance was the game that got me into Kingdom hearts. Out of all the worlds traverse town is my favorite i love the music and the design of it! the music takes me back to when I was 8 playing this on my 3ds for the first time, it will always hold a place In my heart.
one of the best remix o traverse town very smoothing it makes you believe your in a whole different world other then a dream i so wished i lived in this town in the twilight and really meet the people in this town while walking the main grounds and passing by everything i see so romantic if you think about it.
I love this song and this game for that matter , despite the hate. The dream realm is a cool idea but shoutout to anyone else who got every achievement and trophy for 2.8 like I did!
This is my favorite because it was the first one I heard. It makes me feel a mix of peace nostalgia sadness and happiness that I only find in this song I love it too much haha
I never played Dream Drop but I have recently with the 9 in 1 package and coming here and hearing this I got teary and misty eyed and the original coming through which I am all too familiar with form playing the orignal as a kid... what I'm trying to say is this track is just pure magical
Wow, I am in LOVE with this version! I didn't really like the original theme and it drove me up the walls with frustration. BUT THIS VERSION! -Amazing- ♥
They should have Traverse Town in KH3 and there's 2 parts of the town where you hear this music on one side and the original Traverse Town music on the other.
It's a very soothing melody. I kind of wished Riku got stuck with CALLING and all the TWEWY tracks like he got stuck with KH Monstro's tracks on his side...
Welcome to Traverse Town, the first world of the game. You REALLY shouldn't be jumping in with this game, but in case you are, I'm here to help. Movement: I'm not gonna tell ya how to walk and run, because you should know that, so let's get into the other abilities. Press O/B to jump, which makes you jump. Duh. Press Square/X while moving to roll/cartwheel, gaining a burst of speed. Press it in the air to air slide. If you hit a wall while air sliding, you'll enter flowmotion, which allows you to zoom across the air at high speeds. While in flowmotion, press Square/X to dash forward, and press O/B to jump. Flowmotion will end after dashing if you don't hit anything, or when you touch the ground. As you progress, your movement abilities will level up, and you'll gain access to new ones. That's pretty much it for movement, so let's get into what I bet you've been waiting for. Entering Combat: While out on the field, you may run across black-colored dream eaters. These are nightmares, and they are hostile. When you get too close, your character will summon their keyblade and enter a battle stance, meaning you've entered combat. While in combat, the command deck will turn yellow. You cannot access the menu during combat, so be prepared. Combat, what ya gonna do, bleed on me: When a Nightmare hits Sora/Riku, I'll get into switching characters later, you'll lose health, or HP, which is indicated by that green bar at the bottom right corner of the screen, circling their portrait. The health bar will shake, and your character's portrait will close their eyes and grit their teeth as if flinching when taking damage. How much HP you lose is determined by the Nightmare's Attack stat if the attack was physical, or Magic stat if the attack was magical, such as fire or blizzard, and Sora's/Riku's defense stat, plus magic resistance if they have it. Defense directly subtracts Attack, and Magic resistance completely negates a percentage of the damage, but only for the type of magic you're resisting. So Dark resistance will not prevent Light Damage. At 1/4th of your max HP, your health bar will start flashing, your character's portrait will drop and look depressed, and you'll hear a constant "BEEPBEEPBEEPBEEPBEEP", indicating you're in danger of dying. Some abilities only activate when your health is at this point. If your health hits 0, Sora/Riku will die, and the game will end. Your enemies also have HP, defense, magic resistance (and sometimes magic weaknesses, which means they take more damage from that source of magic), and they'll die and disappear when their health hits 0. An enemy's HP bar is in the top right corner of the screen, but it'll only appear if you have the "Scan" ability. Sora and Riku have their separate stats, and no matter how high or low your stats or the enemy's stats are, an attack will always do at least 1 damage. Combat, Offense and defense: Press X/A to perform a physical attack. If the attack hits, you can chain it up to twice by default. Be careful, as hitting a wall will cause the keyblade to bounce off it, knocking you off balance, and some enemies can't be attacked from certain sides. Not physically, at least. The roll/cartwheel I mentioned in the movement section will make you immune to damage, but there's a short period at the end where you're left defenseless, so be careful. Press Square/X while walking or standing still to guard. Any attack that hits you while you're guarding will not cause damage, and if it's a physical attack, your attacker will stagger briefly. Hell, they may even get stunned. If it's magical, then depending on the magic blocked, you may bat it right back at them. With the right combat ability, you can even counter-attack. Press X/A to do so when prompted. Be careful, however. Guarding leaves you open if unsuccessful, you cannot block in mid-air, some attacks cannot be blocked, and you'll only block frontal attacks. Anything from behind will still go through, so pay attention. Combat, Commanderring the battle: If you've played Birth by Sleep or Re:coded, you may be familiar with the command deck. This game uses it, too. Note that unless otherwise stated, commands like Fire strike or Blizzard Raid are considered physical attacks and use the attack stat, but they can still take advantage of magical weaknesses, and Sora and Riku share the same command inventory. Use the D-Pad to cycle through commands and press Triangle/Y to use the selected one. Commands can be physical, magical, or an item. If it's physical, it'll have a keyblade next to it, if it's magical, it'll have a wizard hat, and if it's an item, it'll have a potion. Commands can have different effects, such as healing you, curing status effects, causing them, or resetting the drop gauge, which I'll get into later on. Commands must be set in the command deck before you use one, which you can only do outside of combat. You are allowed to set multiples of the same command, but you'll need to get another copy of it. You cannot set multiples of the same item, however. Once a command is used, it must recharge before it can be used again. The more powerful the command is, the longer the cool down, and some especially powerful commands take up two slots on the command deck. Items work differently. Once an item is used, it's gone for good, and you can only use a limited number of them per battle. Each item has its own limit, and if you run out, you cannot use it anymore until you purchase or find some. However, items don't have any cool down, so you can use them whenever you want. You can even use them in the menu directly, outside of combat, of course. Keep in mind, some commands are limited to either Sora or Riku only. Combat, The *flow* of battle: Flowmotion can be used in combat, too. Attacking while in flowmotion will have your character either slam their keyblade into the ground, creating a damaging shockwave, or drill into an enemy with their keyblade before creating a smaller shockwave if dashing. You have super armor during these attacks, so you cannot be interrupted by most attacks. In addition, if you see a pink circle with an arrow pointing down, you can perform a powerful reality shift. Each world has it's own reality shift. Which one is Traverse Town's? You'll have to figure that out. Drop Gauge, now you know why it's called Dream *Drop* Distance: You see that meter next to your health bar? The one with a number next to it? That's your drop gauge. As you play through the worlds, your drop gauge will decrease over time. How fast it'll deplete is determined by that number there. The bigger it is, the faster it'll deplete. The later worlds have it start at a higher number, and it'll increase if you're in pink gas, or if you're affected by the Sleep status. It starts Blue, then it becomes Yellow, then pink. After the Pink gauge depletes, a 30 second timer will begin, which cannot be slown down or sped up. After the countdown's done, you switch to the other character. If you're Riku, you'll switch to Sora, and vice versa. You can use drop points, which you gain by defeating enemies, to give the character you're switching to a temporary boost, or even earn items or commands. You'll earn more drop points during the 30 second countdown. You can drop at any time, even during combat or bosses, but if you drop during a boss, willing or no, you'll have to start from the top when you switch back. Fortunately, there are items you can obtain to delay the drop gauge. Drop-me-nots refill half of the gauge, and Drop-me-nevers are a full restore. Both of them reset the multiplier back to the default value, and can be used even during the 30 second countdown. Save points and Shops: Stepping in a save point will fully heal you, and this is where you can exit the world and save your game. There is no autosave, so save often. Save points disappear in combat. Shops are where you can purchase items and commands with your munny that you earn by defeating enemies. Conclusion: That's pretty much it, though I'll pop in on other soundtracks to give more hints, usually related to what's currently happening.
So, I was listening to this soundtrack while I was reading the Kingdom hearts manga, and the second that I got the page where sora wakes up in traverse town, this started playing.
They're meant to. They're worlds on the borders of the realm of Light and the realm of Darkness. Traverse Town itself is made up entirely of pieces of worlds that have been swallowed by darkness.
Traverse Town in sleep. This remake is actually perfect considering this
Even the name of the song, "Traverse in Trance", it's really well done
That's why it takes a while for it to play the main melody, it's taking its time to wake up again.
Lumify | Gil It’s genius!
I didn't think they could ever top the original Traverse Town theme.
Well, they did.

I never played Dream Drop but I have recently with the 9 in 1 package and coming here and hearing this I got teary and misty eyed and the original coming through which I am all too familiar with form playing the orignal as a kid... what I'm trying to say is this track is just pure magical
Holy lord. The feels.
I can listen to this on the demo for days on end.
this song is what relieved the pain of the de minigame song playing on loop because i needed a specific ability from one de
I'm more of a Twilight Town fan, but DDD nailed the Traverse Town music, and then some.
You could imagine sleeping to this rn
Sounds like it to me, I actually don't usually like that part XD But considering traverse town has been in SO many games, this remix is a fresh change
I’d get home from school, put this in the background and play Minecraft. Good times
I still have memories of crying to this as a kid.😂 This is very peaceful.
Traverse Town is a Sleeping World in this game.....
We did it boys and gals Kh4!
That sax.
This will probably forever be my favortie KH song. Especially cuz 1:34 - 1:52
I wish Traverse Town is built in DisneyLand, in REAL Life. 🎶🌟💖
2.8 music for DDD HD is going to be out of the world. I see that already
Wow, I am in LOVE with this version! I didn't really like the original theme and it drove me up the walls with frustration. BUT THIS VERSION! -Amazing- ♥
Reminds me of my times in KH1... oh the nostalgia hits pretty hard here.
Lol this really does sound like a Christmas song. Like Christmas is coming, and it IS coming anyway XD
This music, the most cutesy lackluster thing ive heard in my life honestly....
Amazing version !!!!
Underrated asf
So much nostalgia with this track ;u;
New areas:
Fountain plaza
Alleyway
Post office area
4th/5th district
They should have Traverse Town in KH3 and there's 2 parts of the town where you hear this music on one side and the original Traverse Town music on the other.
Or a day and night cycle
Favorit song in the game
traverse town its so beautiful i feel like i am in a dream
I have goosebumpssss ;A; I want to play this game ;_;
***** me too....
This version still has some tracks from old version, but with more of "lazy afternoon" vibe. Overall: awesome.
I'd dance to this at my wedding🤩❤️
This version is little bit more sleepy which makes sense cuz the whole game is about dreams 😅😅
It's a very soothing melody.
I kind of wished Riku got stuck with CALLING and all the TWEWY tracks like he got stuck with KH Monstro's tracks on his side...
1:14 Why does it sound like Part of Your World from the Little Mermaid ? It sounds romantic...😊
Its Sound So Great, How Did they Make a Remix So Good.
It sounds like “Part of your world” at some parts
The saxophone guy kills it
They're meant to. They're worlds on the borders of the realm of Light and the realm of Darkness. Traverse Town itself is made up entirely of pieces of worlds that have been swallowed by darkness.
Put it to 1.25x at this part 1:15 to make it sound more like KH1's Traverse Town theme
Chill beats to relax and check the wiki to while having a migraine over a candy-colored triceratops
This makes me soooooo sleepy XD
I Love this soundtrack. Downloaded the whole thing. >u
Anyone played the demo on 3ds when they were little over and over?
