I just finished the book and this video truly helped me discover my ikigai = to heal, to make well. I've always loved health and wellness. To heal and help myself and others. This was so eye opening.
The speech was so worth to listen to word by word. Hope everyone here will find our ikigai so soon. It's a process. Let us all pray and never give up on finding our purpose in life. Godbless us all.

Really? Slogans do not match reality. It would be really hard to find a broke homeless folk genuinely happy. Money, house, job are part of the whole thing. Indeed at basic level you will not be that happy of you cannot put food on the table. You won't have a family or friends if u r too broke and unemployed. Etc

The best Ikigai talk I've ever listened to! I've never thought of it was an action/verb before. Everyone tells me that this is a goal to strive forward and that sometimes make it feel like it's something too far away. Thank you for reminding us that meaningful life starts now, with each action we choose for ourselves!
I have been delighted by this wonderful talk, light hearted, yet deadly serious, it's not the 'what' we get in life, it's 'how' we live it, seeking to delight others cannot be done by forcing yourself on others, rather it is like stepping in as a dance partner, for a few moments drawing attention to something beautiful, telling, profound, meaningful, ultimately moving and thoughtful, a light touch and a happy smile, and magically we've dabbed a dot of colourful delight into another's life...
The idea of having a purpose in life seems so simple yet difficult. Before listening to this Ted Talk I was lost and didn't really know where to even begin. The concept of Ikigai is just what I needed to make my mark and begin my life purpose. Thank you Ted Talk and Tim 🙂.

Thank you Ted Talk & a Big Appreciation to Tim Tamashiro on formulating the Ikigai equation. It's important that we have a pause in our work life as short as a weekend, a 2week- vacation, a 1-year sabbatical, or even quitting the current job and take 1 to 2 years off the marketplace. When we stop being active full-time in the corporate world, there is a morbid feeling of being stuck in the mud, confused, desperate for something better, and wonder what is "the best is yet to come". At the end of the day, we have an urgency to use our finite time wisely on this playground that we call Earth. You mention time Affluence, and I remember this quote: rich people have money, wealthy people have time. If tomorrow would be my last day playing in my playground, I would still stand ready to sing my last song on the theatre of life. My rewards would be an applause from my audience for a job well done, for moving them to tears, for giving them a tiny bit of inspiration to look forward to the future and to make a difference in the lives of others by being who you are in their own unique way. Thank you Tim, you make my day!
Read his book instead....worth a read....worth the money n time spent...ten times more powerful than this wonderful presentation....hope we all find r ikigai n do what's needed.
side-hustle = A side hustle is any type of employment undertaken in addition to one's full-time job. A side hustle is generally freelance or piecework in nature, providing a supplemental income.
Sometimes western influences recommend choose a job what you like to do, but it is not make sense. Sometimes what we like could be not valuable skill in life, but this Japanese philosopy, ikigai says better something, it is kind of combination "what you like", "what can you earn", "what you are good at "

Very good presentation! I am perplexed that I am just now at 43y/o finding out of this method of finding one's purpose when I, as many, have contemplated this very same conundrum. The funny thing is that I lived in Okinawa for 3 years and I absolutely loved it! I felt something different being there I have never since felt about feeling anywhere and now knowing that this method is from the Ryukyu Islands makes sense to me even more! I will begin to employ Ikigai very soon, and even though I may not be far from my path, I feel this will lead me to where "X" marks the spot!

Material things have no impact on your base level of happiness. What does have an impact are things like kindness and meditation, time affluence, in other words doing with your time what you want to do with your time and spending time with friends and family. A little bit of job everytime is going to add up to a life time of joy.
