LOL I know there was so much cool stuff to focus on here, but Vaan roaming around the battlefield like a confused gazelle had me dying! I couldn't pay attention to anything else after that.

I remember i used gil toss the first time i faced him. There was still one alive character and i didn't know what gil toss was. I just trusted in its description and... i managed to defeat this esper. My God! I still remember the anxiety of losing the fight! (I remember i hadn't save the two previous boss battles)

Gil toss is imo the fastest and efficient way to deal with Chaos. Especially when gils farming isn't a problem at all end game.
Chaos is an homage to the first Final Fantasy villain, also named Chaos.
(The esper Exdeath in this game is tribute to Final Fantasy V's villain).
I always thought Chaos was the logo of Final Fantasy I.
Chaos, Mateus, Famfrit, Zeromus and Exodus are all prior final bosses.

As much as I loved this fight, there's an easy way to win this fight.
1) Kill elementals
2) Summon Zeromus
3) Sit (far) back and watch Zeromus kill Chaos.
WHAT!?! I just spammed Telekinesis with my High DPs team and a dedicated healer
I didn't have Telekinesis. So I struggled against the elementals. But once they were dead, I remembered how irritating the last Esper fight I had was before thinking that this would make a good test of its strength.
The rest is history.

Back in the day the only one I couldn't get was Chaos. I didn't even know there were 13 Espers. I thought Zodiark was the last one. For people who barely had internet when this game came out on PS2, it was nearly impossible to figure it out how to get all medallions.
I know right... I need to print the entire Esper Guide from gamefaqs to be able to fight all the espers. Even chuculain is hard to find lol...
A yes that part it's painfull in many ways, not only the esper quest are unmarket You need special conditions to make appear many of the esper, and all the special ones are hard as hell to kill

Another great way to cheese him is using gil toss. Mmmmm automatically 10000 damage for 10000gil...its worth it

Omg Vaan left confused is the greatest thing right now. So question did they get rid of the self harm while almost killing your friends side effect of that ailment or no?
SZion Heart No, when confused your character will randomly attack their allies or themselves. Getting hit by a physical attack, even their own, gets rid of confusion. The only reason Vahn didn't attack his allies is because normal attacks were blocked in the arena. You can see that in the upper right corner
Michael Jara thanks for the reply. I honestly over all thought it was funny. I played the old version of this game and never witnessed the characters running around confused. Only just the basic self harm infliction and Allie attack.
That opening cutscene looked awesome
Axe + Soul Eater was a pretty easy way to kill chaos. Axes deal a lot of damage and are one handed, but since Soul Eater scales off of raw attack, such a weapon means that there's a lot of damage to be had.
Wow I did not know Souleater worked that way in this game and I’ve played through FFXII many times, both on the ps2 and the Switch. That’s good to know.

nice job. Chaos was always a pain. and since your this far is there any way you could tell me where to find the Baknamy merchant in this place? I've looked everywhere it seems.
Michael Clement near the entrance to the feywood, you would turn on your first right, go all the way down and examine the corners in one of the rooms. Well thats how it was in the original ff12.
Michael Clement my man the best scene in the game ever! Partner is chilling in a crack in the wall by the entrance leading out the Salikawood area and he's got the goods. If your coming from the wood wear float for traps head far right turn into that hallway check the walls. If your coming from dead lands boy it's hell and highwater reaching all the way to the front entrance but he'll be on your left. There should be an inner room behind his wall where you will find a rare game which is a mimic bug monster and its red. Have fun
Tyler Wilson honey, you got the "woods" mixed up. The Fey wood is down south near Golomor jungle while this guy is northeast near Nabudeas dead lands and Salikawood. You are correct he's on your right coming from the wood on on your left coming from the dead lands near the entrance of the wood. Coming from that direction is murder.😂 Good luck!
Thanks for the help. Yea I found him. its funny though, I was able to beat Yiazmat before I found him... I just played the heck outta it and its been done. just gotta finish the beastiary and 2 other trophies for platinum.
Zodiac was the only painful to fight in my experience with espers.

The upside of the attack command being disabled is that your characters can’t attack themselves in confusion.
This esper is me! Klepto Mime, the whipper of hair! Chaos was the one who organised the army, and the holy esper was his wife. They are sitting on thrones.

He is, but Chaos or one of those elementals (I know the gargoyles in the Necrohol have the same ability), I believe have an ability to instantly dismiss espers - at least, in the PS2 he did..

I saw a 30m Yiazmat vid, so I'd say the 4x speed game mode is a life saver.
Yea the 4x multiplier is amazing turns a 12 hour fight into a 3 hour fight. Also I saw the video your referring to and thats not a bad way to do it. I did it the old fashioned way though; Berserk, Reverse, Decoy with Yagyu Darkblades.
Michael Clement The fact you can deal above 9999 points of damage is also helpful, as it saves a few hits in the long run.

Why not simply use quickening attacks, to defeat him?
Because a full quickening chain usually isn't enough to take away more than a 4th of his life. Near the end of the game, quickenings are not that powerful as they usually only hit for about 30-40k which is great... in bosses that can be burst down like Demon Wall. Near the end, a full combo from a katana is much better.
Please bring these espers to ff16 😢

Yes he is in the original its in nabudis and you need to complete the medallion side quest to open the door of the esper chaos
@@elcansino5415 I too never managed to fight this one. It was nearly impossible to figure it out how to get all medallions when this game first came out, since internet wasn't as big as today.
Can't physically attack? Time to bust out the strongest black magicks spell and motes.
to be honest use strongest magicks like flare may eventually take too much time for casting and cooldown, i rather use technicks instead such as gil toss for fast kill.

If you seeking real challenge and wish to test your skill go for PS2 FF12 vanilla version.

there's also Mateus, who's a homage to emperor Mateus Palamecia, villain of FFII.
Famfrit is called the Darkening Cloud, and is a homage to FFIII's villain Cloud of Darkness
And Zeromus from FFIV's villain of the same name.
It'd have been nice if all 12 espers had been a homage to previous villains.
Actually, Warrior of Light is the logo for the first Final Fantasy game. Seen in the "Dawn of Souls" remake for the GBA.
