Other reviewers show focus pulsing with C-AF in video of static objects - did you not encounter that? I need a lens for Zoom and talking head college teaching videos, but don’t don’t want my eye/face to be drifting in and out of focus.
In my opinion, there is something off about this lens. For some reason, Sigma 56 seemed so much better to me. Someone told me later Sigma 30 was developed originally for mirror cameras, maybe it's not correct. Sigma 56 brought a much better image quality (I didn't make a lab test, but I mean the sharpness and general feel of the images), also the size of sigma 56 is so lovely. I sold my Sigma 30 and a Fuji 23 2.0 (which in fact was a much more interesting lens) and got a used Fuji 33 1.4 instead when I saw a good deal. This lens is miles away from Sigma 30, and you won't see it until you try it out. From my humble experience, the best sigma is a 56 1.4 one. The 30 may seem more versatile to you, but it has no soul.
Yes, Sigma 56 is smaller and sharper, but the AF is not great. The sigma 30mm AF is ok, buy at f1.4 lacks details at pixel level - but the entire image is ok.
@@Tudor_Mateescu I use the 56 with the latest firmware update (released in October), and the AF has never failed me, even though I choose this lens for the night time photography. Didn't notice Sigma 30 or even any of the Fuji LM lenses to outperform noticebly Sigma 56... may be your subjects are faster or you simply notice smaller differences that I don't see.
I want a small street photography set, but maaan, I'm so disappointed because I need to choose between big 30mm f/1.4 Sigma and smaller 35mm f/2.0 Fuji. The price is the same. I want a wider aperture, especially on APS-C. But the size... Ohh, choices.
It's funny how it comes back to the original 35mm XF lens this many years later. I have the XF 35mm f/1.4, and since I'm a stills only shooter, I've never had a problem with the audible focusing sound. The image quality is such that I don't look at other lenses... if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Fujifilm got it right with its first interchangeable lens for people that just want to do photography.
I have watched some Fuji official commercial video of the newer 33 1.4 and they have repeated several times they wouldn't discontinue the 35 1.4. Probably didn't want to make people angry :D

The comparison i didn't know i needed. Also the way you said "the magic lens" needs to be a short. It made me smile

With Fujifilm this could be a problem with any lens. Sony a6400 and above will do a better job.

I know! The size of the sigma bothered me, and in the end I sold it. Great lens and field of view but to big.
sigma 30 1.4 or fujinon 30 macro 2.8 this is the question;)?
Fujifilm 30mm macro 👍 is small and VERY good. For low light 35mm f2 or f1.4. Sigma is ok, but pretty big, heavy and not too sharp at f1.4
Which is better
Xc 35 f2 or the Sigma 30mm
Different apertures... But resolution wise and size Fujifilm.
i used this lens on sony a6000 like 5 years ago, it was a mixed experience, lot of shots missed focus
Same on X-pro3 but better than 35mm f1.4, and good results on X-T5. In video AF is very ok on Fujifilm x-t5.

Exactly! 😁

too much talk and no comparison side by side😢
