This Sigma 30mm f1.4 was my first non-kit lens when I got my Sony Alpha a6400 last fall (the camera came with the Sony 18-135mm "kit" zoom lens), and I've never been less than blown away. @@Ansonandco Thanks for the reply! I'm using a Sony A6300, after watching a few more videos I'm now leaning more towards the 56mm sigma as the auto focus is better than the slightly older 30mm.
Great video! I was looking into getting this lens to start a youtube channel but I wanted to ask the differences between this one and the sigma 30mm 1.4 "art" lens? It's close to a $200 difference but I don't really understand why.
So I looked into it. I thought it was full frame at first but it’s not. So it is possible that it has SLIGHTLY better optics, but more likely just how it’s designed. It has things like focus markers and even though it’s focus by wire it has hard stops in the focus ring. So it’s easier to use a follow focus system.
Love it! I have a question! I wanted to buy this lens since I am an amateur and I am looking for something good but affordable, but I really like to photograph details! Do you think this is good for that, but still for other things? Thanks 😊
I think this is a great standard lens. Meaning getting close up details but also other things as well. Good versatile lens. So short answer... yes! Hahah
So hold on, I'm looking for a photography lens that can also do solid cinematic videos once in a while, but I can't seem to find a review from a photographer, they're all about the video capabilities. Am I missing something? I thought it was primarily a photography lens?
Nick Gunnare it is intended to be a photography lens yes. Check out ruclips.net/video/jaMXIor04WY/видео.html Kyle’s channel is photography based and he has a couple of videos on this lens.
Nick Gunnare you’re not hahaha these sigma lenses are widely used for budget filmmaking so that’s why you’re seeing a bunch of em probably Kyle is a buddy of mine, tell em I told you to stop by ✌🏻
Anson & Co. oh ok cool because I want to get this lens for my BMPCC6K I think it would end up being a 50mm on that camera sense I think it’s close to a super 35 sensor
James Handley so I don’t know if you are going to be able to mount it on the 6k because of the EF mount. The sensor size is fine but you won’t be able to find an EF version or even adapt it because of the flange distance. I would look at maybe the art series 35mm
I had a whole sigma trio for m43 and 16mm for apsc. Only 56mm 1.4 left. 30mm and 16mm had a terrible purple fringing. Autofocus in 16mm is worse than in 56mm and 30mm, especially in low light. Shooting with 30mm and 16mm in backlight at 1.4 -2.0 is a terrible idea. There are better alternatives for m43. Maybe not for apsc. 16mm with Sony behaved similarly to 16mm with m1mii and g9. For m43 Oly 17mm 1.2 is unbeatable, 17 1.8 is also better, same 25 1.2. All equally sharp at 2.0 but faster and without other problems with CA/LaCA Focus by wire vs manual focus clutch in Oly - no comparison, especially for videomakers. FBW is a nightmare. 30mm missing seal on mounting ring. Only 16 and 56 are sealed. Few people notice this. For owners of sealed Olympus and Panasonic cameras, this may be important. If you have m43, save money and buy a used oly 1.2. If you don't care about manual focus then Oly 1.8 or pana 1.7.
@@Ansonandco They're not 100% sealed, but the mounting bracket is (16 and 56), so you don't have to worry about the sensor. I shot with a 56mm sigma in the snow and some rain without problems. None of these lenses had any dust behind the glass. 56mm is still heavily used.I think they are well made.

I bought some off of videohive and some were free just from searching. I wish I were patient enough to make them lol
Anson & Co. could you link to the ones you have?
Great video! I was looking into getting this lens to start a youtube channel but I wanted to ask the differences between this one and the sigma 30mm 1.4 "art" lens? It's close to a $200 difference but I don't really understand why.
So I looked into it. I thought it was full frame at first but it’s not. So it is possible that it has SLIGHTLY better optics, but more likely just how it’s designed. It has things like focus markers and even though it’s focus by wire it has hard stops in the focus ring. So it’s easier to use a follow focus system.
@@Ansonandco thank you!
great video
Thanks!
Nice vid... 😊👍 But in my country the sony 35mm has the same price, even cheaper to this lens, what do u suggest? 😁
I would say if you want fast and quiet autofocus then Sony but if you want better image go with sigma.
I loved your 7 artisan lens series but nthing is getting shipped into india, Amazon naaaahh, b&h naaah. Help me out please.
That sucks I’m sorry!
Check out ruclips.net/video/jaMXIor04WY/видео.html
Kyle’s channel is photography based and he has a couple of videos on this lens.
Oh perfect thank you! I was starting to think I was going crazy haha
Nick Gunnare you’re not hahaha these sigma lenses are widely used for budget filmmaking so that’s why you’re seeing a bunch of em probably
Kyle is a buddy of mine, tell em I told you to stop by ✌🏻
Does this work on a super 35 sensor
They make aps-c versions as well so it should definitely fit the sensor!
Anson & Co. oh ok cool because I want to get this lens for my BMPCC6K I think it would end up being a 50mm on that camera sense I think it’s close to a super 35 sensor
James Handley so I don’t know if you are going to be able to mount it on the 6k because of the EF mount. The sensor size is fine but you won’t be able to find an EF version or even adapt it because of the flange distance. I would look at maybe the art series 35mm
For this price? Wooooowww
I know right?! It really made me want to just buy it!
All equally sharp at 2.0 but faster and without other problems with CA/LaCA
Focus by wire vs manual focus clutch in Oly - no comparison, especially for videomakers.
Kamil Rakowski honestly I thought all three were not sealed. Good recommendations - THANKS!
I have that lens for micro 4/3...i love it...Im doing a coronaVirus with it...you have to watch it then
I’m looking forward to it!
Well.. he bought it for 270 and I got mine for 309 today... Rip but ik the lens is gonna be amazing!!
👏👏👏
👍
I can’t zoom with this lens why? Used it with a6400 but I couldn’t find the zoom option 😒😒
So the lens itself is not a zoom lens. But with the 6400 you can use clear image zoom. If you do a quick search for it it’s pretty easy to accomplish!
I dont think its cheap...
pls give me this lens :(
