I'm wanting to buy a single lens for my zve10 but I'm in doubt about the sigma 23mm 1.4 and sigma 30mm 1.4. I think I prefer the 30mm focal length especially for portraits. But I read on some forums that the autofocus (AF) of the 23mm 1.4 is much faster and that the image is sharper compared to the 30mm 1.4, as it is a newer lens (2023 compared to the 30mm of 2016). What do you think? Do you notice this big difference in autofocus speed and sharpness?
Mark, when are you gonna start teaching a photography class? I'd totally sign up. Sure it's about 500 miles away from me, but its totally worth the drive.
Now to just offload my Lumix GX85 and lenses now that I've transitioned to a ZV-E10 and get this to go with my 16mm! May even look for another body to have as a B cam on the used market.
Need the Viltrox 23mm vs the new Sigma 23mm now. The Viltrox has been my main lens forever now, and hard to beat at just $280 to me, but would love to see how these stack up against each other Mark.
intoxication sent one - but it’s still in the mail. I think that of it works - there would be better ways to spend $600 than in a focal length that you already have. I tested the Viltrox for the Nikon so I know it’s good. getting a “slightly better” optical performance is likely not worth it for people who already own the Viltrox
that's tough - for video I would do the 16 because I use that the most. But for portraits you have to do the 56. The best all rounder is the 23. But the 30 is great for street photography - I can't choose!!!!
Do you recommend this lens for capturing wedding photos? I already own the 16mm Sigma and I'm considering whether it's worthwhile to have both focal lengths for shooting a wedding.
if you have the 16 - I would opt for the 56mm from Sigma for head and shoulders portraits for weddings. Or at least the Sigma 30mm - because the 23 and 16 are kind of close
Still watching your Videos, Mark. Still loving the Sony ZV-E10. Still not loving police. Still rock my khakis with a cuff and a crease. And I love Sigma lenses and DAMN your channel grows like magic mushrooms.
Sigma always killing it with the value. Can't believe Canon cut off 3rd party lenses lol. I'm still going to rock the 18-50mm 2.8 as my street/travel lens, but this is a solid lens for the price.
I am waiting for Sony to update a6400 and Sigma 16mm will be my first lens choice, with new clear image zoom I will have 16-24mm f1.4 lens which is all I need in my RUclips studio.
the sigma is better optically, but the Viltrox is much cheaper, has a nicer build and aperture and focus breathes a bit less. I prefer having the optical quality of the sigma, but I wouldn’t blame anyone at all for going with the Viltrox - it’s a great lens

Great video and awesome Sigma put you on the embargo list - are you crazy rich now? :D Jokes aside if you have the lenses a side by side comparison with ZV-E10 + Sigma 23 1.4 vs. A7IV + Sony 35 1.8 would be interesting. My guess is, there won't be much difference :)
To be honest, the Sigma looked better than the GM lens here. Even sharper and cleaner. However, both very good optically. Using this on a ZV-E10, well, that's kind of "strange" because nearly every lens you put on ZV-E10 will be a lot bigger than the camera itself. :D On the other hand, it isn't really easy to get fast apertures on APS-C, making these Sigmas about the only option if you want prime lenses of a certain quality.
Yo Markie Mark, got my Sigma 16mm for the ZVE10 the other day (love it) thanks for making me spend all my hard earned cash on my new camera addiction :p
It will be a different look, less bokeh, but you can get extra reach with clear image zoom without much image quality loss. I probably wouldn’t go all the way to 1.5x though
Great lens for photos as all new sigma lenses, but it breathes a lot, similar to Sigma 56 . Viltrox 23 and 56 have worse IQ especially chromatic aberrations but they breathes less. For video my choice is viltrox and it's significantly cheaper. It's great to have a lot of choice.
they are very different - the 56 is great for portrait photos (head and shoulders shots) the 23 is better for video because it’s a good focal length to shoot video. So if you’re taking photos of people, get the 56 - if you’re shooting video get the 23

18-50 for general purpose photography. the 23 if you want a lens for the studio or interviews
When is this lens going to be released for Fuji ? I want it now!
Ha - yes - it’s a banger as the kids say
Mark, at this point, if you could only pick just one lens amongst the sigma quartet now, which one would it be?
that's tough - for video I would do the 16 because I use that the most. But for portraits you have to do the 56. The best all rounder is the 23. But the 30 is great for street photography - I can't choose!!!!
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis LMAO OMG! That’s not helpful at all Mark. I will have to get the whole set 😂… Thank you, I appreciate it.
Holy crap, you really do look like Christopher Nolan! How does this lens stack up to the Sony/Zeiss 24 f1.8 for APS-C?
Do you recommend this lens for capturing wedding photos? I already own the 16mm Sigma and I'm considering whether it's worthwhile to have both focal lengths for shooting a wedding.
if you have the 16 - I would opt for the 56mm from Sigma for head and shoulders portraits for weddings. Or at least the Sigma 30mm - because the 23 and 16 are kind of close
Amazing lens! Really impressed. You really do look like Chris Nolan, with NSYNC hair
I love the 56mm. Got amazing footage from it in video
Hey Mark! I do a bit of recording myself in the gym. What lens focal length would you recommend for that?
probably the Sony 11 so you can get a wide shot while the camera is close to you
I think you make a good double for Sam Neill. BTW, one can have a complete camera setup with the APS-C for the price of a Sony Alpha 1.
no doubt!! I’ll take a Sam Neil
Your sense of humor is out of processing for all brains!
Yeah was waiting for this one for little Dougie!
Still watching your Videos, Mark. Still loving the Sony ZV-E10. Still not loving police. Still rock my khakis with a cuff and a crease. And I love Sigma lenses and DAMN your channel grows like magic mushrooms.
🤣
Awesome lenses i went with the 30mm F1.4 on the zv e10.. I find the fhd 60fps quality is soft is this just sony or perhaps partially the lens?
the 1080 on the zv-e10 is soft. The lens is very sharp, but unfortunately the cameras 1080 I s not
Was the intro shot with S&Q mode?
Openheimer is going to be awesome, thank you!
That's my side gig
I havent even watched this video yet and I already like it.
This makes you a good person.
Sigma always killing it with the value. Can't believe Canon cut off 3rd party lenses lol.
I'm still going to rock the 18-50mm 2.8 as my street/travel lens, but this is a solid lens for the price.
That 18-50 is probably the perfect travel lens on the planet
Right now the price is 499$ for 18-50 & 23 mm. In your opinion, which one is better for Kids Portraits.@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis
Have you tried it on full frame with Clear Image Zoom to resolve the crop/vignette..? I’m wondering what effective focal length you get.
What's the name of the music/ artist name of the music that is played at the beginning ?
Can you send me the source link ?
I am waiting for Sony to update a6400 and Sigma 16mm will be my first lens choice, with new clear image zoom I will have 16-24mm f1.4 lens which is all I need in my RUclips studio.
How does this lens compare with the Sony lens for the ZV-E10? I need a low light lens
this is about as good as it gets for lowlight. 1.4 is extremely bright
I was about to buy a viltrox.. what would you pick: viltrox 23mm 1.4 or sigma 23mm 1.4?
the sigma is better optically, but the Viltrox is much cheaper, has a nicer build and aperture and focus breathes a bit less. I prefer having the optical quality of the sigma, but I wouldn’t blame anyone at all for going with the Viltrox - it’s a great lens
It may be diffrent question .Do we stil need lens with image stabilization even if we put camera on DJI RS3 Mini gimbal ?
Counting out Zv e10 .
Cheers
you can turn off all stabilization if you have a gimbal - it's often the best thing to do
Damn you, Mark! I have been set on a Sigma 18-50, but now I’m second guessing myself 😂🫣
welcome to the second guessing club!!
Hello
What is the best between these lenses to use on a ZV-E10 camera to capture product (sneakers) shots in a 3.6*4.2 meters room? Sigma 23mm of Sigma 16mm
Hello. if I have a sigma 16mm and 30mm do you recommend to buy 23mm?)
Not really - unless you find you definitely need something in between. You’d probably be better off getting the 56 to take good portraits
Dude you look like that frickin BABE OF A GORGEOUS STUD Mark Bennett at the 35mm focal length.
I KNEW this would fix it!!
HEY MARK!i love my zve10 withkit lens but i need a zoom lens. i want one wth the greatest amount of zoom while still being budget as i am on lifelong disability benefit so cant work to get extra money and dont want to have to save foe 10 years
look at the tamron 18-300 - huge range amzn.to/3GenRHa
Oh Wow, they already sent it to you for review? I am too late as always :-) Nice review as always.
Please make a comparison against the Viltrox 23mm and don't make me cry, that I bought the Viltrox 23mm a few weeks ago.^^
I will - but the Viltrox is great. no regrets there. it’s better than the sigma in some ways - especially price. it’s just not as optically perfect in some ways. But that may be in ways that are of no consequence to you
Looks like more quality. Invite in some Camp Koality if you will....
In other news, a Newfoundland Iceberg trip may be happening by someone with a new OM Digital camera that won't include me 🤣Thanks for the affiliate link though! We went with Camera Canada in the end... it arrives Wednesday!
sounds exciting - oh the shots!! thanks for using the affiliate link!!
Great video and awesome Sigma put you on the embargo list - are you crazy rich now? :D
Jokes aside if you have the lenses a side by side comparison with ZV-E10 + Sigma 23 1.4 vs. A7IV + Sony 35 1.8 would be interesting. My guess is, there won't be much difference :)
That’s a good idea.
Will try this lens soon
it is a beauty
Ooh viltrox has a 23 1.4 now too, face off? 🤔
Yo, let's help Mark out by hitting the LIKE button, it's free and takes a second.
I don't know about Chris Nolan, but you are definitely a doppelganger from Ben McKenzie 😂
I prefer this
Is it good for sony zv e10 i am a content creator and i am also a portrait photographer is it good choice for me
for portraits - look at the sigma 56mm 1.4. For video content and street photography the 23mm is good
Yo Markie Mark, got my Sigma 16mm for the ZVE10 the other day (love it) thanks for making me spend all my hard earned cash on my new camera addiction :p
Someone had to join me in the addiction 🤣
This sigma 23mm in vertical shoot how far from the camera we can shoot ?
about 6 feet (1.8 meters)
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisisand sigma 30mm apsc ?
If I clear image zoom my sigma 16, that'll give me 36mm and i save $550 + tax. Win? Or won't look as good?
It will be a different look, less bokeh, but you can get extra reach with clear image zoom without much image quality loss. I probably wouldn’t go all the way to 1.5x though
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Ah man lol. Trying to save myself from spending more money on top of already wanting to buy the a6700 😂
so if I had to pick one lens that covers almost everything what would that be? researching the zv-e10 or Fx30
Probably the Tamron 17-70 2.8 amzn.to/3Ues5V4
How is the AF during video with this lens? I heard third party af lens don't work too well with Sony's face registration
it’s perfect. the sigma’s work as well with autofocus as any native Sony lens in all of my tests
Great lens for photos as all new sigma lenses, but it breathes a lot, similar to Sigma 56 . Viltrox 23 and 56 have worse IQ especially chromatic aberrations but they breathes less. For video my choice is viltrox and it's significantly cheaper. It's great to have a lot of choice.
makes sense to me
Your videos are too good. What a goober ! 😂
🤣
Sigma 23mm vs sigma 56mm??
Which is better and why??
they are very different - the 56 is great for portrait photos (head and shoulders shots) the 23 is better for video because it’s a good focal length to shoot video. So if you’re taking photos of people, get the 56 - if you’re shooting video get the 23
Thank You
For your kind reply, I need it for portrait photo.
Will it be good with Sony zv e10?
it will be excellent. Very professional pics with the zv-e10 and the Sigma 56mm. you’ll be happy
Thank you for guiding meh.
Can you compare with viltrox 23mm f1.4
I will be trying to get it in yes
Help me please! Which one should i get 30mm or 23mm most of the time i shoot car vid, thank youuu
The 23
Very good. Immediately in the cart.
has to be!!
