14:59 this even checks out perfectly with the maths! F2.8 is excactly 1 1/3 stops more than F4.5. So you need 130% more light to have the same exposure. You reduced your lights from 85% to 40% which is a 125% difference in light :D

You are unbelievable. I promise you I emailed them a few days ago and never heard back. How do you and I think so much alike? This is a great review of the lens. Thanks so much for doing this Mark
3 month ago, i just a newbie, you are my favorite reviewer Now, my knowledge is wayyy too far from me in the past, and you still my favorite reviewer Funny, infomative, detail, stunning quality,… although i have this lens already i still watch it again
I love the form factor of the 18-50mm Sigma f/2.8 lens. I like carrying a pair of cameras on any serious photo trip because the second camera will sometimes save the day, if one camera is damaged. This happened to me climbing a ridge in Alaska. I fell and damaged one camera but, I was still able to shoot since I had a second camera. I am getting a bit old (82 on my last birthday) and weight is becoming a problem. Therefore, the small factor Sony APSC cameras fit my needs and this Sigma lens meshes very well with my A6600 (since the A6600 has IBIS). I wish however, that I could find a small form factor telephoto zoom which would match my 18-50mm Sigma in a two camera setup. I have a 70-200mm f/4 Sony but, being a full frame model, it is a bit heavy for my needs. I also have an APSC Sony 70-350mm but, that is a variable aperture lens and I really want a constant f/stop with a minimum of f/4 and I don't really need the wide range of 70-350mm. I don't absolutely need stabilization in that lens and would be happy to have one constructed of plastic like the Sigma. Presently, I make do with the 18-50mm along with my Sony 85mm f/1.8 lens. The 85mm is relatively light and is a great portrait glass but, I really would like a zoom of somewhere around 50 or 70mm to around 135 or 150mm with a minimum f/4 constant aperture. But, I would rather have a constant f/2.8 built along the lines of the Sigma 18-50mm lens. I think that such a lens could be light enough in weight o solve my problem,
Fantastic review Mark, thanks. I have my own lil’Dougy and just purchased the 18-50 Sigma lens for it based on your review. I didn’t think it was possible to fall in love with such a cheap lens but boy, this lens is a beauty. Thanks again for keeping us entertained mate.
Even when sometimes (maybe 2 times out 10) i am not watching your vids for reviews i watch them because they me smile/laugh. So thanks for bringing those jokes and positivity into a lot of people's lives.. Love from India
This video showed up on my feed again. Gotta be honest, I've purchased this lens about a year ago and it's the most versatile lens that I own. It's super sharp, constant f2.8 is amazing and the 18-50mm (27-75mm fullframe) focal range is fantastic. It's a very small lens and also incredibly light. I have only two issues with it, one is with the lens and one is more my own preference. The first issue is that it has no optical stabilization. As a bang for your buck lens, you might be on a budget, and your camerabody maybe doesn't have IBIS. This would mean that you have the possibility of unsharp images at lower shutter speeds. For 40% more in price, at least where I live in Europe, you could go for the Tamron 17-70mm, which has built-in optical stabilization but is way bigger and heavier. If you were to own a ZVE-10 (like many other people watching this channel) it might be scary at first, but something like the A6500 already has IBIS and could be picked up second hand for about the same price as a new ZV-E10. That would already solve a bunch of problems with this for photography, for videography it could help a bit. The other issue is that sometimes I feel like it's too wide at 18mm and not zoomed in enough at the 50mm focal range. I've purchased the fullframe 24-70mm f2.8 lens from Sigma, and use that on my crop sensor ZV-E10. The 36-105mm focal range really suits me and also gives me the possibility to upgrade to a fullframe camera down the line, so I get even more usage out of the lens. If there was a 36-105mm lens for APS-C I would instantly buy it, but this lens is as close to perfection as I could get it. Price vs Quality this is more bang for your buck than the Sigma 16mm f1.4 for me!
After some 4+ hours of trying to decide which camera to aim for this video FINALLY helped me narrow down what to go with for my instruction videos and some less dry (read: boring as all heck Dad!) marketing content... Now it's just a small matter of running the purchase order past accounting... Thanks for the useful content.
I use the 16/1.4 on my M43 setup all the time and it always stuns me with its quality. So no surprise that this thing rocks. One thing…focus breathing generally refers to the size of objects changing when you zoom the lens, not going back and forward to a lens at a fixed length. That’s why it matters to videographers rather than photographers.
My camera is Sony ZV-E10. My main work is indoor/studio videography. I will also do outdoor videography and photography. My choice is Sigma 18-50 for being lightweight, handy, compact and minimum focusing distance of 12.1cm. On the other hand, Tamron 17-70 has an additional 20mm zoom and Image Stabilization. Since the Sony ZV-E10 doesn't have in-body image stabilization and the Tamron has image stabilization, I think it might be better for outdoor videography and photography. Since I haven't used either of them, I can't judge how effective the Image Stabilization is on the Tamron. Can you tell me which lens should I get for Sony ZV-E10? Reply please 🙏🙏🙏🙏
16-50mm direct replacement for the kit would have been the ticket for me, and I'd be a buyer.. The macro, F2.8 and Sigma-quality AF are great selling points. Adding a prime would take too much time for lens changes. I like my kit lens, I did go through 3 before I found a good one though. Good review ... Cheers
great video, I would love to start to see some comparison now versus other zoom lenses; in fact, even though I know this lens to be more of a wide zoom it would be great to see a video against the TAMRON 11-20MM F/2.8. Thanks and keep up the great work.
Woah Mark! Thanks for this video! That "macro" feature is such a nice hidden feature cuz I only know that by watching your videos. Other youtubers that I watch didn't mention any of that. Definitely getting this lens after contemplating for so long.
you a funny dude lol. glad I found a camera guy with a sense of humor. new to photography and I'm falling asleep watching camera vids but yours are entertaining. thanks for the laughs, cheers!
Excellent review Mark. Always learn something practical and useful through your videos, especially for a newbie like me. As this will be my first zoom lens, I was comparing between Tamron 17-70mm and the Sony 16-55mm to this Sigma 16-50mm lens. In consideration of price, weight, performance(near to Sony's lens), and the ability to take macro shots, this lens is the zoom lens for me. Thanks a lot again.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis What would your choice if you own an Alpha 6400 and use it for handshots (so no stativ using), even in darker environment. The tamron has an stabilizer, the sigma not. I`m using the kit lens at the moment and are no pro. I just search for something to upgrade my setup without buying more than one lense. thank you!
GREAT Thanks! I have the 16,30 and 56 trio from Sigma and consider them my go-to first choice on my a6000 AND my a7r ( Yes the original bought new at duty free in Dubai in 2010 (?). I currently use the a7r 28-70mm 3.5-5.6 kit lens on both but obviously take a hit on megapixels on the APSC. That kit lens on on the a6000 works as a native lens with the resolution loss is only noticeable when you recompose in post to correct what I should have done when shooting. However the a6000's 24 Mp drops to (variable) an average of 15Mp which is respectable and good for most media but limiting print quality. That zoom is beyond tempting. Thanks Mark.
Love your reviews Mark 👍. I’ve picked up this lens last week to go with my own little Dougie. I also dress up my ZV with the SmallRig L bracket with a wooden handle. This is a terrific setup. Light, compact, easy to handle. And the IQ is incredible. It’s now so easy to just pickup the camera anywhere all the time. f2.8, versatile standard zoom range, close focusing distance… Despite the lack of OSS, this lens ticks so many boxes. It’s a must have on the Sony apsc system imo.
I have ZV-E10 and this lens as my only video recording gadget, and I am exactly as happy as you. Go and sell out all your other gear, you don't need them! ;)
You sir, are a gem 💎 Thank you for being you. Awesome video. You helped me make a purchase decision. You did so in style. Your neighbor is great too 😂🍻
Great review, thank you very much ! I actually just got a new ZV-E10 with a Sony 18-105 4 in order to have a all-terrain kind of lens with optical stabilisation, but you're now making me rethink my choice... I really considered the Sigma 18-50 2.8, but didn't go with it because it was lacking OS...
Stick with what you’ve got - stabilization, huge focal range - if that’s what you were looking for don’t second guess yourself. I do that all time - don’t be like me 🤣🤣
I have been waiting for this video forever…. It’s weird that I just clicked on your channel now to see if it’s up yet and lo and behold .. 1 min ago you uploaded it 😬
After dipping through a lot of videos. Definitely on a bind now between the Sigma 18-50 F2.8 or Sigma 16 mm F1.4 haha (for studio video focus/product broll showcase type of work). With the Sigma 18-50 F2.8 more favorable as it indeed got more versatility. Good for a daily travel lens without the need to carry multiple lenses. And the fact that it can do macro stuff. But then again the 16mm f1.4 got its own charms too. And that its now £339 down from £449 while the 18-50 F2.8 is still at its release RRP at £429. Edit: And yes the difference is very clear, As I am watching this on an c1 oled 4K. Same on the other videos I commented before as to how your video examples really showed how powerful the camera's and lenses are. Unlike some other channels who share examples (specially vs smartphones) and their videos criminally insults the very capable camera's they are reviewing horribly. And yes, the videos are really helpful haha The channel is he'lla under rated or perhaps its just that most people might not like how fun your personality is lol with the jokey parts and all.
I have a Dell Ultrasharp 43" - 4k - The quality difference between the 2 lens is major. I just got a ZV-E10, they sold me (I chose, well you know) the Tamron 17-70 which is pretty good too. And I'm also Canadian, well French Canadian from Montreal, you cant have it all ! Ciao
You’ve got a very good neighbor, mine has never offered me a beer. Great review, this goes on my wishlist. I’m really enjoying the ZV-E10 as a secondary camera, but it’s not taking in enough light with the kit lens. A constant aperture would be great too.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis that would be a great option too, though changing lenses while filming isn't that great, but the extra light could be very welcome. Something to consider, thanks!
do you think this is good for travel, street photography, and interior real estate? Do you think it is wide enough to get nice landscape/cityscape photography too? does the 18mm compared to a 16mm make big difference with 2mm?
Thanks Mark for another informative review. Cameras and lenses almost and should have the rule I learned a long time ago back in the early 1980's buying stereo equipment. There was a point made by someone in a publication that explained people were buying stereo equipment backwards, meaning that people would go shopping and their priority was to buy the most kick-ass receiver as the priority and then after that the lighter wallet kicked in and then they bought speakers secondarily. The person who wrote the article told people to buy the best speakers possible first and then the receiver. I am going to apply this ideology to camera equipment. Buy the best lenses first and then the camera body second. Thanks again Mark. I always look forward to you videos.
very smart. I, myself, am guilty of obsessing over the cameras at times, but it’s the lenses that make the big difference. If you buy a GM lens, you can keep it for 20 years. next year, there’ll be a better camera.
Mark I love your videos. I wish you could test all these things to low light and under more harsh environments (this is a little bit too perfect compared to real life vlogging)
Lowlight depends a lot on the camera - and the amount of light a lens lets in is standardized. So a 2.8 will be the same in lowlight as any other 2.8 lens. So, if you want ultimate lowlight performance from a lens, look for the lowest f-stop you can find. The 1.4's from sigma are about as good as it gets (16mm, 30mm, 56mm)
I had shot on their EF mount 17-50 f/2.8 APS-C version of this lens for years for video work on my 80d, but the lens was very fragile and I had broke two of them. Glad to see they've made a lot of improvements to it, not only that thanks to your channel I'm planning on switching over to the ZV-E10 and it excites me my fav lens is available for it in a smaller form factor!
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis The ZV-E10 seems like such an overlooked amazing camera to me, I think the picture profiles for grading on it are fantastic. my 80d and 17-50 F/2.8 certainly used to be a great combo a while ago!
As an equally handsome funny guy, I appreciate the humor you put into your videos. I don't know diddly squat about cameras but ready to watch and learn everything from you. Cheers! 🍻 (btw, that first bit was a joke so don't come after me fellow viewers lol)
I was confused to choose between sigma or tamron 17-70mm 2.8 But still choose sigma cause its small, compact, and lightweight But tamron have ois and much further focal length but the cost of heavier and bigger
I love your sense of humor in your videos! 😊I'm not sure if you know the answer, but if you do, I'm curious to know whether you would recommend this lens or the Sony 18-105mm f/4 for a hybrid travel photographer?
I had this amazing lens in my hands Monday and immediately tested and reviewed it, it is absolutely amazing I really enjoy it and it will be my main lens for the Sony ZV-E10. Thanks for the complete review Mark
Hi Mark, this is one of the most helpful video on this lens, especially the studio example. I am a Reviewer and use studio for 99% of my videos. I am using sigma 30mm for my A-rolls and kit 16-55mm for B-rolls since last 2 years and as you mentioned in the video, the distance adjustment and convenience is quite a issue. Now I am looking to replace both the sigma 30mm and kit 16-55mm with this new lens and would like your opinion on it. Thanks.
this can certainly do that - as long as you don’t use the 30 below 2.8 most of the time. there is a big difference between 2.8 and 1.4. So if you normally use the 30 at 2.8 and above - then this lens definitely can replace it
So I’m already sold on the ZV E10. My goal is to use it mainly for music video shoots, livestreams, and event photography.. I was working myself up to plunge in and get the 3 sigma prime lenses to be able to cover all those areas but now I’m thinking this one lens could do it all very well and allow me to buy the 3 prime lenses one by one over time after recouping some of that initial investment.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis indeed I think it will! Although that bokeh on the 1.4’s looks soooooooo good! Did you find it to be that far off? I’ve watched this video like 10 times and it seems to be really close at the 2.8
Love your reviews. Your videos convinced me to get the Sony ZV-E10 and Sigma 16mm F1.4. This review convinced me to upgrade my kit lens to the Sigma 18-50 as I love the idea of the bigger aperture, and the fact that its F2.8 all the way. However, am I missing something? It doesn’t seem to work with the Zoom rocker on the camera? Am I missing something? That’s a bit of a bummer if true.
The zoom rocker is only for "Power Zooms" like the kit lens or the Sony 10-20 f4. There are very few power zooms available. Regular zooming lenses like this sigma have to be zoomed by hang (most lenses)
Thanks Mark, great review. I have got this lens for a week, one problem with this lens is vignetting, like a lot. But otherwise, I really like this one. Made to be paired with my ZV-E10.
Although I already bought the ZV1, but it's great to watch your videos. And this video is the right place for me to ask a question that has perplexed me for long. You are the right person to ask it to - Smartphones have tiny sensors and not much good lenses. But in daylight they give amazing results just on the basis of their software processing. But a camera like ZV1 has a bigger sensor and a good lens and yet it isn't miles ahead of a phone. I mean, under certain conditions, smartphones do come close to the ZV1. For example, there are videos in RUclips that compare the iPhone 13 to a 2000 dollar full frame Sony Cameras. And even with a tiny sensor and lens, the iPhone does give competition. To a non professional like me, under broad daylight, its impossible to tell the difference. Now my question is this - why can't cameras use the software processing of smartphones and add their sensor and lenses to it and give us something amazing. Sony already makes/made smartphones. Why couldn't they get the chip from one of their 200 dollar phone and put it in the ZV1 so we could get something amazing? (Thank you for reading. And your neighbour has been seeing you pace up and down in your backyard. So he offered you a beer)
Haha - yes - my neighbour is trying to help the lunatic 🤣🤣. Tony Northrup has been asking the same questions as you as to why can’t cameras don’t do the same things as phones. I do not know myself - I don’t know if it’s possible. Large phone companies have millions of dollars to invest because they sell so many. Mirrorless cameras do not make very much money compared to the sales of phones, so perhaps it’s just a question of money available for research and development. Or maybe it’s because when photographers get their cameras, they don’t want software taking the pics. I know that now that I know how to use my cameras, I never want an iPhone image because I don’t have control and the software makes the photo look like a cartoon and very processed when you compare the pictures large next to a big camera sensor. I do think, though to would be nice to have the software options if you wanted them. In a camera like a ZV1 with a one inch sensor and not having the ability to change lenses, that software could help a lot.
Software involves a lot of R&D and most likely camera companies do not have the budget and talents unlike tech giants like Apple/Google/Samsung etc. There is a HUGE demand for the small smartphone camera sensor to look like a big sensor professional camera while professional camera users generally have the skills to manipulate their photos and videos to get the looks & colours they want and they don't like it being dictated by the software algorithm, HENCE camera manufacturers have much less incentives to develop such software algorithms. BUT, as smartphone cameras are rapidly catching up to big mirrorless cameras, I think, camera manufacturers will invest more and more into computational photo/videography in order to differentiate themselves from smartphone cameras so people can still justify the purchase of a pro camera.
Binging all of your vids Mark, I've bought my first camera because of your review. Hope you can help me out this time again because I'm in the market for a lens. I'm pitting this lens Sigma 18-50mm and the Sigma 16mm. Which one would you choose if you only have one?
Would it be a problem to compare the Sigma 18-50 f2.8 to the Sony 16-55 f2.8 since you are becoming famous now? And maybe the combination of the Sigma 18-50 f2.8 & Sigma 16mm f1.4 compared to the Sony 16-55 f2.8. The price of the Sony is a bit discounted in my country and the difference in price is not so big so I am wondering which option is better.
I am very tempted to get it for my A7IV. 14mpx would be good enough for travel. Light and versatile. Instead of carrying Full Frame Tamron 28-75mm, which is heavy for travel.
Nice review but have you look at the Tamron 17-70? The Sony 16-55 should be the best except for the price. I'm debating between this lens vs the Tamron 17-70. I lean toward the Tamron more because it has stabilization and that better especially for low light situations. What's your thought?
Mark, another superb video! It’s like you custom made another video just for me -reading my mind as to what I want to know. And I’m sure you are to blame for this lens being out stock at B and H. 😂😁✌🏼Great review and also I got a great standup comedy show that is healing to my bones! 😁🙌🏼
Hi Mark, love your stuff. You help me with my own camera crisis. Question: How good is the macro capability compared to a Sony 50mm macro lens? I shoot underwater, and if his can shoot great macro at 50mm, it would save having to only choose a certain subject size pre-dive.
Thanks for another awesome review. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who have bought stuff because if your vids. I'd say you've already paid for that lens with all the 16mm you've "sold". They should let you keep it✌️ Hey Sigma. I've already bought a 16mm1.4 because of Mark. And now I'll have to get that pretty zoom thingy too...
Hope the beer was good! Interesting review. I would definitely still have the Sigma 16 1.4 for videos. But this changes the relevance of the Sigma 30 1.4 and Sigma 56 1.4 to me. Maybe pairing the 16 with the 18-50 may be a more interesting / versatile combo.
@@danielpwagner not really. They’re 2 different lenses completely and serve different purposes. But if you’re comparing the 56 1.4 to an 18-50 to do the same job it’s not happening. APSC is super noisy at 2.8 vs 1.4 unless you’re doing long exposure and there’s no movement. Under most circumstances low light wise the 1.4 is the way to go. Unless you don’t have the room. Apples and oranges.
@@GRJCLyon sorry - I mistyped! I wanted to say that I need to learn a lot still 🙃 - thank you for the info, still learning a lot with my new toy. I have the kit lenses + sigma 16mm for the moment.
At 14:10 it seems to me that if you zoomed out to 16mm on the kit lens and turned on Active SteadyShot to get a 1.44 crop factor you would have had a very similar looking shot to the Sigma at 24mm with the camera at about the same distance and your light at the same 40% (maybe a touch brighter).
Great another video, Mark! I read a lot of comments asking and comparing the Sigma 16 and other 1.4 with this zoom. I’m wondering wich one choose too for my documentaries. Maybe you can do a video comparing this beasts!
I had to send the 18-50 back, but for your documentaries, get the 16 1.4. The 18-50 is a great travel lens, but that 1.4 gives you great lowlight and a fantastic blurry background. I do docs, and I always use the Sigma 16 1.4
I hope Sigma has left you the lens. After this review I will buy this thing, like probably about 1000 others. Your reviews are some of the best I've seen.
I think that such a lens could be light enough in weight o solve my problem,
"I could say mean things back, but I won't, because I'm Canadian." LOL

Just bought the zv e10 body only and the sigma lens because of this video. Thanks for the humor and the wonderful information.
Good choice!
Price vs Quality this is more bang for your buck than the Sigma 16mm f1.4 for me!
thanks for giving the long term update!!
Thanks - here's a good article about focus breathing petapixel.com/focus-breathing/
I bought a ZVE10 because of you and I’m very mad 😡 because I’m in love for this camera 🥰
How could you not??
Great review. Just ordered the lens. Wish I had neighbors like you. Thanks for the great videos. I am very happy I stumbled across your channel.
he helped me fix my garage too!!
Get a good Gimbal wth ZVE10 and Sigma 18-50MM 2.8 lens. All set.
The CGI snow at the start was awesome!
I was just hired for the new Avatar movie. no one is blue this time
From one great looking guy to another.... I really enjoy you humor and knowledge about camera equipment. Keep up your great work!
Great review Mark. Its fantastic! Loved from Rwanda
Thanks!!
Awsome review as always. I really think that this will be my upgrade from the kit lens.
Good choice!
Nice review Bro! I love this video. Thanks!
You are entertaining and very informative! Thank you
Congrats on 5️⃣K mate. When searching this particular lens your video came second. You definitely have become popular 👏
Nice!!
I'm excited for Mark to start having sponsored sections!
I will never skip them, because I wanna see him on that creamy ZV-E10
Thanks 🤣🤣 I’ve had a couple of offers, but nothing I felt fit with the channel.
Cheers
Yeah, for the wide shot, the 16 would have been great. So hard to find something perfect. Thanks, J.R.!!
The ending was awesome, love your videos!😅
Thank you! 😁
great video, I would love to start to see some comparison now versus other zoom lenses; in fact, even though I know this lens to be more of a wide zoom it would be great to see a video against the TAMRON 11-20MM F/2.8. Thanks and keep up the great work.
Woah Mark! Thanks for this video! That "macro" feature is such a nice hidden feature cuz I only know that by watching your videos. Other youtubers that I watch didn't mention any of that. Definitely getting this lens after contemplating for so long.
Glad it was helpful!
Great review. Really like the way you did side by side. I haven't seen much of that on other lens reviews.
I appreciate that!
you a funny dude lol. glad I found a camera guy with a sense of humor. new to photography and I'm falling asleep watching camera vids but yours are entertaining. thanks for the laughs, cheers!
I appreciate that!
Glad it was helpful!
I subscribed for the humor alone 😄
Very helpful video, especially thanks to the comparison with Kit Lens. Thank You!
That’s a great setup and that wooden grip looks so cool
First time on this channel, and subscribed already!
thanks very much!!
Equally informative and fun. Great review!
Thanks!!
just placed my order with your link! appreciate the vid
That’s considerate of you - I appreciate it 👍👍
I have ZV-E10 and this lens as my only video recording gadget, and I am exactly as happy as you.
Go and sell out all your other gear, you don't need them! ;)
You sir, are a gem 💎 Thank you for being you. Awesome video. You helped me make a purchase decision. You did so in style. Your neighbor is great too 😂🍻
🍺he’s a good guy!!
The intro is beautiful ❤️
Thanks!!
I do that all time - don’t be like me 🤣🤣
That lens is HUGE.
Great video, would love to see a comparison between the sony 16-55 f2.8 g vs the new sigma 18-50mm 2.8; to tell if spending more make a difference?
I had to send the sigma back, but from the tests I’ve seen from others, I would stick with the sigma. smaller and much cheaper.
Mark, you crack me up. 😂 Fantastic review of the Sigma, by the way. And even if I know you rented it, I'm still jealous!
Really enjoy watching your review.
Thanks!!
Hey. Great video. Do you recomend this lense cooking video, filming food cook in the pan and so on? keep up the great work
I have been waiting for this video forever…. It’s weird that I just clicked on your channel now to see if it’s up yet and lo and behold .. 1 min ago you uploaded it 😬
Ditto!
Always good to click on the channel at all times 🤣🤣
What a great review and that sense of humour! 😂 Subscribed immediately
Much appreciated!
Edit:
And yes the difference is very clear, As I am watching this on an c1 oled 4K.
Same on the other videos I commented before as to how your video examples really showed how powerful the camera's and lenses are. Unlike some other channels who share examples (specially vs smartphones) and their videos criminally insults the very capable camera's they are reviewing horribly.
And yes, the videos are really helpful haha
The channel is he'lla under rated or perhaps its just that most people might not like how fun your personality is lol with the jokey parts and all.
Ciao
French Canadians are very welcomed on this channel. 😀🇨🇦
You’ve got a very good neighbor, mine has never offered me a beer. Great review, this goes on my wishlist. I’m really enjoying the ZV-E10 as a secondary camera, but it’s not taking in enough light with the kit lens. A constant aperture would be great too.
Take a look at the sigma 1.4 trio. The 16, 30, and 56 - prime lenses that let in a ton of light
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis that would be a great option too, though changing lenses while filming isn't that great, but the extra light could be very welcome. Something to consider, thanks!
Looking at this for my zv-e10. Appreciate the review. I enjoy your channel, Mark.
Thanks!!
I really want this lens, just slightly out of my price range right now, ill just keep to swapping my sigma 16 & 30 1.4's
do you think this is good for travel, street photography, and interior real estate? Do you think it is wide enough to get nice landscape/cityscape photography too? does the 18mm compared to a 16mm make big difference with 2mm?
hello! love this review! just wanting to know how well does this do in low light situations?
Another stellar video Brother! Love your humor as always! Keep on shining bright! ❤❤❤
Thanks, Andray!!
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Always Brother! You Rock!
This lens and zv-e10 are a killer combo. and so small and light!!
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis The ZV-E10 seems like such an overlooked amazing camera to me, I think the picture profiles for grading on it are fantastic.
my 80d and 17-50 F/2.8 certainly used to be a great combo a while ago!
That is hilarious! I have that same combo and looking to upgrade!
As an equally handsome funny guy, I appreciate the humor you put into your videos. I don't know diddly squat about cameras but ready to watch and learn everything from you. Cheers! 🍻 (btw, that first bit was a joke so don't come after me fellow viewers lol)
You’ll know it all in no time. My handsome face will tell you all of it 🤣🤣
Your videos are so entertaining I would keep watching them even if I wasn't interested in cameras anymore 🤣
The best kind of viewer!! 👍
Love the vibe and the review, if you only put more outdoor shoots it would be crazy 🔥But still what a review!!!❤️👍👍
Damn you! I just bought this lens because of your video.
I regret nothing!!
I was confused to choose between sigma or tamron 17-70mm 2.8
But still choose sigma cause its small, compact, and lightweight
But tamron have ois and much further focal length but the cost of heavier and bigger
Mark I just got the Sigma 16mm f1.4 from the BF sale on B&H, only taken about 20 photos, but I already love it.
My fav lens for sure
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Can't wait to use it more, got home from work and finished the video. A great neighbor indeed.
I love your sense of humor in your videos! 😊I'm not sure if you know the answer, but if you do, I'm curious to know whether you would recommend this lens or the Sony 18-105mm f/4 for a hybrid travel photographer?
Great review and sick lens! Thanks man! Get well!
Appreciate it!
Very usefull video ! thank you so much i send my kit lens back and bought the sigma :) since i can use the extra light !
Thanks for the video. Love your humor!!!
Thanks!!
This lens is unbelievable
I had this amazing lens in my hands Monday and immediately tested and reviewed it, it is absolutely amazing I really enjoy it and it will be my main lens for the Sony ZV-E10. Thanks for the complete review Mark
I will check out your review!!
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thank you Mark but my reviews are not professional like yours, and thank you because I am learning a lot from your videos
@@TonysTravel Great lowlight footage - it was I was missing 🤣🤣
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thanks
Sigma has released two of the three holy trinity lens. I am waiting for Sigma to release the third lens, i.e. 50-135mm f2.8 lens.
So if you normally use the 30 at 2.8 and above - then this lens definitely can replace it
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thanks for the prompt reply 👍
So I’m already sold on the ZV E10. My goal is to use it mainly for music video shoots, livestreams, and event photography.. I was working myself up to plunge in and get the 3 sigma prime lenses to be able to cover all those areas but now I’m thinking this one lens could do it all very well and allow me to buy the 3 prime lenses one by one over time after recouping some of that initial investment.
This lens will cover so much.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Ah cool. I did not realise this. And thanks for the quick reply. Saves me a lot of googling time 😂
Thanks Mark, great review. I have got this lens for a week, one problem with this lens is vignetting, like a lot. But otherwise, I really like this one. Made to be paired with my ZV-E10.
Make sure you enable lens corrections in your camera. Page 2 Lens Comp. Turn Shading, Chromatic and distortion comp to auto
Although I already bought the ZV1, but it's great to watch your videos. And this video is the right place for me to ask a question that has perplexed me for long. You are the right person to ask it to -
Smartphones have tiny sensors and not much good lenses.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thank you so much for your thoughts. It does make sense the way you put it.
@@gigihanmandarin incredible. Thank you so much Tysun.
Binging all of your vids Mark, I've bought my first camera because of your review. Hope you can help me out this time again because I'm in the market for a lens. I'm pitting this lens Sigma 18-50mm and the Sigma 16mm. Which one would you choose if you only have one?
The 16mm 1.4 for me. But it’s because I shoot mainly video and that’s a focal length I use constantly. I love the 1.4 for the blurriness!!
Thank you so much for making this video
You’re welcome
liked before starting to watch the video
Best kind of person 👍
If you are ok with the 14mpx - this could definitely work. Can do macro too.
haha!! Healing to the bones!!
They should let you keep it✌️
Hey Sigma. I've already bought a 16mm1.4 because of Mark. And now I'll have to get that pretty zoom thingy too...
Haha - Sigma - do you hear this 🤣🤣
Hope the beer was good! Interesting review. I would definitely still have the Sigma 16 1.4 for videos. But this changes the relevance of the Sigma 30 1.4 and Sigma 56 1.4 to me. Maybe pairing the 16 with the 18-50 may be a more interesting / versatile combo.
I like the primes myself for video. This lens is a great travel and versatile lens, but it would never fully replace that trio of 1.4’s for me
This lens will never be a 56 1.4.
@@GRJCLyon need to learn a lot still!
Sigma 16mm or 18-50? For the zve10
the best review, thanks
I hope Sigma has left you the lens. After this review I will buy this thing, like probably about 1000 others.
