Sigma f/1.4 16mm, Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner. Great review and comparison. But, for me, I think the Sigma 16mm and I have a thing going on. While the Sigma 16mm doesn't have an aperture ring, I actually prefer using the dial on my A7iv to adjust the aperture. So, yet, another win for the Sigma. Gotta get me the Sigma for my ZV-E10. Great video! I love my Sigma 16mm f1.4, but the wide angle of the Viltrox is enticing. The Sony seems great, but since I recently bought the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8, I can't justify the price right now. I do have an idea for you though, coming from you saying you don't time to talk to us individually. I had the same issue, so here's how I addressed it. I run a channel that focuses on helping those new to PCs navigate custom and prebuilt system integrators. Very early on, I had far to many DMs asking for one on one help, so I changed the theme of my Twitch streams. I now help people on an individual basis through a queue. They give me their budget, what they intend to use it for, etc. and I find a system that seems right for them. It led to an additional revenue stream for the channel and I just made partner on Twitch (though I'd suggest you do something like this on RUclips instead). I know you're a very busy guy, especially since you upload more often than I do, but it could be a great way to interact with your viewer base and also gauge interest in topics for future content. So incredibly well covered. I think the Sony’s biggest resistance will be the price, it’s a lot of money for an aps-c prime, the other two are so good for the price point.
I have been deciding on a wide fast prime to go with my Sigma 18-50/2.8 (a6700) and have been highly entertained here in the process. Thank you Mark! Sigma: don't have to do anything different (aperture) and they've earned my loyalty. The Viltrox compelling for interiors though. Spoiled for choice now! Peace, brother.
I decided to get the Sony 15mm f1.4. Size matters. Especially on a small and light body like that of the ZV-E10. It costs more, true but I don't like Sigma. Thanks for your video.
Really a very nice judgement. After watching and hearing you, I decided to go with Sigma 16mm. Sony has a high price, and I dont know why I don't like viltrox.
Just got the Sony Alpha email with the three APC lenses and immediately was wondering about how the 15mm was going to stack up against the Sigma 16mmm. And then, here is your video. I am still happy for all-around shooting vid or pics with my Tamron 17-70, but wanted that faster aperture and bit wider view, so all three you reviewed are of interest. Need to get a copy of them to test, but appreciate the review! Awesome stuff Mark. ***Edit to add, that Sony 11mm 1.8 is right in the mix.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis do you have an idea when this comparison video might be out? or would you possibly have a suggestion between the 3 for landscape/astro photography?
I own the sigma 1.4 trio for canon efm mount. For the price they are excellent lenses that compete well with higher quality glass for sure. Ill never part with them even though i have better and bigger glass for fullframe. For travel and street photography, they are hard to beat.
I might get the Viltrox 13 for my lil' dougie to do vlog-style shooting and the studio just because it's cheaper than buying two separate lenses for both purposes. But if I had my way, I would get the Sigma 16 for studio/talking-head and the Sony 11 for vlog-style projects.
Think I’ll go with the Sony, doing a lot out doors for Astro photography, vlogging while motorcycle camping, and studio work. Seems like the Sony is easier to carry with weather protection. For my a6700. So no worries on the stabilization.
very good reviews. I'm missing something though. Most reviews talk alot about vlogging but what about travel videos. are these too wide? Would I be better off with a 35mm or 50mm equivalent? thanks.
If you are just filming the area and not yourself close to the camea - the wide lenses can still work, but if you wan to get something closer to what the human eye sees, you would want a sigma 30mm f1.4 for example which would get you to around 45mm. But I would actually recommend the Sigma 18-50 2.8 for travel. I did a video on it and it’s such a great lens that will cover you for everything travelling, and it’s tiny.

I founded your comment about viltrox is best for lowlight 13mm but its 0.5kg Sony is more than half weight .Sony 13mm is 2nd after Viltrox for lowlight vlogg? Camera not pointed into face
Hi Mark, I've been watching your vids like a new season of Stranger Things. Awesome content and your personality is really earthy and interesting. I just bought two zv e10 cameras, one for my son's video game streaming and one for me and my wife to share for 4k vids for our business. Picked up the Sigma 16mm f1.4 on sale for $369. Great combo. May get the 30mm as well plus the Viltrox for vlogging since they're both under $300 each (insane!).
I've owned the Sigma 16 and Viltrox 13, and the Viltrox is definitely the winner, based mostly on bokeh smoothness. Both lenses are very sharp and AF well. They're similar in size and probably weight (don't remember the 16's feel offhand). Not a fan of the Viltrox's aperture ring, though, and it does get knocked off of auto every now and then, probably when mounting. But it's absolutely a keeper as long as you don't mind 20mm vs 24mm. For me, anything wider than 28mm creates unwanted distortion, so it's all the same till you get below around 18mm, where the need for wideness takes over. Somewhat niche use cases, but having a reliably sharp, fast, wide lens in that focal length definitely makes you want to use it more. I tend to use it in place of my Tamron 15-30 lead ingot when I want to travel light.
Thinking about getting the Sigma 16mm f1.4 lens mostly due to its affordability compared to the other two. However I would like to see the extent in which my ZV-E10 on the Zhiyun Crane M3 can handle it’s weight. Yeah I’m aware that you balanced this pretty alright in a previous video about the Zhiyun Crane M3 but I do wonder if prolonged use of a heavier setup would affect or damage the motors. Would love to hear what you think about this. 😃
The M3 motors are really strong and once it’s balanced, it won’t ever have an issue. It can handle far more weight than the zv-e10 and sigma when balanced.

Mark you need to help me out. In one of your earlier videos you were talking about a "grainy-looking egypt pyramid documentary". Any chance you can remember the title? I think my basement is haunted and I'm looking for some spooky atmosphere inspiration to film those sort of things.... I'm asking for a friend of course...
It was actually about the recent Egypt revolution not the pyramids - Tahir Square I think it’s called on Netflix. So probably not the spooky thing you’re looking for 🤣
Good info on this one, Mark. Just out of curiosity, any word on Sigma putting out a wider lens than the 16mm with the f1.4? I think the Viltrox 13mm f1.4 is wide enough for my stuff, but wider would give me more options.
Gladly I found your channel, before I am just watching your videos with camera comparison. Now that I have my zv-e10 for 6 months, I am now looking for a good lens. And here I am again.. 😁
Mr Mark, what about some sound review from handsome man? I look a shotgun mic for broadcasting in studio (with echo effect( try find lavalier alternative
I'd have loven to see the TTARTISAN 17MM F/1.4 thrown in for good measure, id also love a review of the yongnuo 50mm since it was meant to be a decedent competitor for canons 50mm, how would it stack up on sony
those manual lenses are great values, but without autofocus and without the ability to use catalyst browse (it doesn’t work with manual lenses) they won’t be suitable for a lot of people. But for those who don’t mind manually focusing and don’t need the gyrodata, hard to beat the price.
Gotta say the 15mm on ZV-E10 looks ok framing using Active Steady Shot and very good using Catalyst Browse. Were you hand holding the camera or was it on a stick?
Have you compared the 15mm f1.4 to the newish 10-20mm f4 @15mm in image quality terms? I have the 11mm f1.8 and 20mm f1.8 and I’m debating if the 15mm prime vs the zoom might be better option for 80% photography vs 20% video use case (bias to nefarious nocturnal activities but not always)… your thoughts?
Sigma 16mm currently on sale for like 330(ish) on Newegg. I snagged one and can't wait to see how it stacks up. I'll have a Neewer 35mm, sigma 16mm, and the Sony kit 16-50. Now I have to find nd filters that aren't doo doo. Do you have a brand recommend a brand under 200 USD that isn't garbage?
Hi, I want to upgrade my kit lens from the zv-e10. My main use will be toy reviews and toy photography. Right now I could afford just one. Would you recommend this kind of wide lenses or other kind? telephoto 105mm maybe or more like 20mm? I find this Sony 15mm quite nice but i don't know of will be adequate for reviews. Thanks in advance, you reviews are awesome.
I still think you look better in the 16mm focal length. The others make you look "Men in Black style Alien". QUESTION for ur next YT Short! How do you delete videos from your SD card (besides formatting)? When I delete them from the browser and put the card back in camera, it get those annoying messages that the item can't be displayed. Thanks
Just came from another review comparing these viltrox and sigma lenses where they said that the chromatic aberration was noticeably worse on the viltrox than the sigma, so now I don’t know what to believe lol
Chromatic aberration is definitely there at 1.4 no the sigma. The Viltrox performs better in that regard in all my tests. But I will say, I wouldn't let chromatic aberration be your deciding factor. Just get the focal length you need.
For apsc? Probably a 30-35 because you won’t get warping at the top or bottom of the frame like you would with a wider lens. Look at the sigma 30mm 1.4
1000 devils. You are just great. And with each of your videos, it's getting harder for me to choose)))) I now have a Sigma 18-50 2.8 and an M2S Crane. And they are made for each other. I choose 16 or 13, but I'm not sure if the little M2S can handle it .... (Sony 11 would be ideal ... but still expensive, 15 is in a completely different league in price ...). Could you spare a little of your precious time to test M2S + ZV-E10 and Viltrox or Sigma. It seems to me that this would be ideal content, since not everyone wants to take the bulky M3 and use the M2S
You might have missed it in the vid, but I mentioned that the Viltrox and Sigma do not balance on the m2s, only the M3. That’s why the 15 is so appealing to me.
Hi Mark, I bought the Ulanzi WL-3 after watching your previous video to upgrade my kit lens. And after watching this video from you, im very tempting to buy another lens e.g. the sigma 16mm f1.4, would you recommend me to upgrade it now, i feel like ill be wasting the WL-3 if i switch it to sigma lens in a few days only. Quite frustrating haha
the WL-3 is much wider than the 16. the 16 is as wide as the regular kit lens, The sigma 16 is fantastic for photos and the studio - the WL3 is great for having a super wide accessory for in tight vlogging. They are very different and you will not regret getting the Sigma 16.
What Would Be Your Recommendation For An a7IV. For "Horror Nights Maze Walk-Around". Do You Think It Would Be Worth It, To Invest In An "FE"? I'm No PRO, Yet ;) Thanks For Sharing!!!
If budget is not an issue, Viltrox 13mm or Tamron 11-20 f2 for Sony ZVe10?🙂 just planning to use it for travel mostly photos… mostly in low light.. cos I have Tamron 17-70 for daylight
I have the Tamron 11-20. It’s not too bad.. but if you shoot a lot of low light handheld, a 2 stop advantage of an f1.4 lens will give you options an f2.8 won’t.
So it's Viltrox which has noisy motor? :) I want to buy Sigma because I think its focal length suits my needs better. Some other reviewers try to suppress AF motor noise from Sigma, and I've never seen messages about AF noise from this Viltrox lens. I'd like to get as silent AF as possible, and Sony is not an option :) I have Fujifilm X-S10 camera.
The viltrox focusing motor can be picked up by the on camera mic when it is trying to find focus in lowlight situations. You can't really hear it - but I think it's the vibrations that the mic is picking up. The Sigma is dead silent. But none of them should be an issue if you're using a shotgun or lav mic
Nicely done! As you noted, no poor choices here. Curious; if you had to choose 3 lenses for your little Dougie what would they be? Recognize it depends on your particular uses.

So probably not the spooky thing you’re looking for 🤣
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thanks a lot Mark! Greetings from Germany :))

Ive got the Viltrox on Fujifilm but this was a fun informative review
thanks!!
Good info on this one, Mark.
Just out of curiosity, any word on Sigma putting out a wider lens than the 16mm with the f1.4? I think the Viltrox 13mm f1.4 is wide enough for my stuff, but wider would give me more options.
Haven't heard anything, but I would love a 13 or 12 from Sigma
Gladly I found your channel, before I am just watching your videos with camera comparison. Now that I have my zv-e10 for 6 months, I am now looking for a good lens. And here I am again.. 😁
thanks man for this video, I was waiting for this ❤️ finally i decided to get the viltrox lense
it's so great
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis yea it is
Is sigma 16 mm or sony 11mm good ?
Price and quality go for sigma and if budget not an issue I would recommend sony , however, sigma is win win deal
… great comparison, thx for sharing. Good to see, that my new Sony 15 mm was a good decision to buy. Waiting for your next video. 👍🏻
Just an excellent lens. Congrats!!
When comparing to the new Sony 10-20mm. How is that constant f4, is bokeh still good?
you won’r get much blur back there at f4 on a wide apsc lens
Very good video as always.Thank you.Greetings from Holland.
Thanks!!
The Sigma 16 looks so good
Love the sigma! Im planning to get it one this year
Insanely good
Mr Mark, what about some sound review from handsome man? I look a shotgun mic for broadcasting in studio (with echo effect( try find lavalier alternative
I recommend the Lark 150 or Deity Pocket Wireless for Lavs. I have reviews on those already. For shotguns, probably the Deity D3 Pro
Were you hand holding the camera or was it on a stick?
on a little ulanzi tripod
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I think I get it... yes it looks not bad to me TBH not too tight with the framing.
I am buying Sony ZV E10 with kit lens & thinking to buy Viltrox 13mm, what do you suggest, also how to buy in India
go to the link in the description and it will let you buy the lens in any country,
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Which one to buy Sigma 16mm or Viltrox 13mm
For outside work - the Viltrox - for in a studio I like the Sigma unless you are in a very small room.
I like KandF filters - use them all the time. Great quality to price.
K&F muy bueno very good and cheap
I was busy having a Big Mary! Just catching this now!

Hahaha Loved it❤️
I have a sigma 30mm f1.4, what to get next? 16mm sigma ? 56mm sigma? something with zoom?
what are you shooting?
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis cars, people, landscape. Im new into photography
The 16 would be the way to go for landscapes and wider shots . The 56 is more for head and shoulder portrait shots
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thanks
Just get the focal length you need.
man, you are so funny and entertaining. also very informative. subscribed.
I appreciate that!
I am happy with 7 Artisans 12mm 2.8 and TT Artisans 17mm 1.4
They make some high quality lenses for sure. Huge bargains if you don’t mind manually focusing.
I went with the Sony only due to the size
Man you are the best. You should do more videos on Fuji system. 😎
hopefully I will
Thanks for the vid
Please recommend a lens for Sony Alpha 6000.Mostly for sharp nature and portrait photography.Note: very much beginner
the sigma 56mm 1.4 is definitely the best for that.
Mark you deserve more more more subscriber 👍👍👍👍😁
how about Sony 11mf1.8? it seems perfect for vlog with active steady shot
yes - it’s great. there’s a review for it in the channel 👍
Great Review
What millimeter lens do you want if you’re shooting “RUclips shorts” that are vertical?
For apsc? Probably a 30-35 because you won’t get warping at the top or bottom of the frame like you would with a wider lens. Look at the sigma 30mm 1.4
Great video

That’s why the 15 is so appealing to me.
hmm what about weathersealing?
I'm putting the word "nefarious" in my back pocket for later. You could do a comedy vlog lol
Nice! Very good!!! I follow you from Brazil, I learn a lot from you. Success 🚀🚀🚀
Happy to hear that!
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thank you I’ll consider having it too !
What Would Be Your Recommendation For An a7IV. For "Horror Nights Maze Walk-Around". Do You Think It Would Be Worth It, To Invest In An "FE"? I'm No PRO, Yet ;)
Thanks For Sharing!!!
I’m would choose the Viltrox 16 - check out my review on it ruclips.net/video/YVDjP7Fwe1U/видео.htmlsi=SYm1esTvjxvbcMBg
I want to shoot indoor youtube video with little more blurry effect.
Which lense should i go for with my zve10?
Please reply
Love from India❤
For me, right now probably the Sony 11 for vlogs, the Sony 15 (or Sigma 16) for studio and the sigma 56 for portraits.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I agree on the first two so far and appreciate your thoughts on the portrait lens... on that one I have a number of vintage 40mm to 60mm that might fit the bill - MF only of course. I will do more research on the Sigma 56. I was out driving around doing errands yesterday listening to a few of your videos.
Hi PLSSSS SAY DID U DO A VIDEO USING SIGMA N VILTROX LENS FOR NIKON Z30. PLS SAY WHICH IS BEST LENS FOR NIKON Z 30 OUT OF SIGMA N VILTROX FOR INDOOR VIDEO SHOOTING

planning to get either of these 3 lens for video indoor shoots.
i'm leaning towards the sigma with my use cases since it's wide enough still.
I have a little doug as well :)
