Trust me, the viltrox is WAY Better and the new viltrox’s pro lenses like the 27mm F/1.2 and the 75mm F/1.2 are on the SAME level of a Sony GM lens! I almost bought the Sony FE 24mm F/1.4 GM (expensive AF as you probably know) for my sony A6700 and that because I thought there were no lenses around that FL as great as the sony, but that was until I found the Viltrox 27mm F/1.2, I’m blown away to this day!
Love the lens options for Sony APS-C now. There’s something for every budget and photographer… Now it’s just up to a Sony to do the same for their APS-C bodies
I'm totally hooked for the Sony 11mm. I already ordered one to replace my Sigma 16mm and the manual Samyang 12mm. Then I realised that I only took 100 real wide angle pics within four years, so I cancelled my order and currently I'm selling off the Sigma 16mm and stick with the Samyang. So Arthur, your videos are teasing and eye-opening at the same time!
Great comparison! One caveat though: you still never test the "true" corner performance of lenses as long as you shoot in 16:9 instead of 3:2 which is the format of the sensor.
So excited to watch this video. If you’re open to suggestions, I’d love to see how the 11mm on an APS-C compares to a 16mm lens on an A7C, or some other full frame camera. It seems to me like the 11mm might enable APS-C shooters to really mimic the wide angle of the full frame! Again. Thanks for the video!
Yo this is exactly what I was thinking! I'm using a Sony 10-18 f4 on my full frame a7c and it's worked fine, but I'm so curious how it (or one of these) would compare to an actual wide angle designed for full frame. What am I losing by using an apsc lens in a full frame? Or is it a good option?
Incredible channel! Most of the time it's hard to find even one good comparison between two lenses I'm interested in. This channel has freaking 3 way comparisons and all 3 sets of lenses I'm looking into: Sony 18-105/18-135, Sigma 18-50/Sony 16-55/Tamron 17-70, and Sony 11/Rokinon 12/Viltrox 13. So many reviewers fail to critically demonstrate the optical differences between lenses but the optical comparisons here are actually very useful. I really appreciate the corner sharpness/astrophotography/FOV comparisons and that you get to the point with all the important info, without cringy intros and cheesy music/transitions. Subscribed.
God bless you and your family. There's no other man like you doing such videos for the sony APSC well not only for the APSC but at all for everything you've done so far and keep on doing!
So happy I got the Viltrox in their pre-sale for 340€ (thats 20€ cheaper than the Samyang here), for that kind of money it is easily the best value out of these 3.
Another great review from Arthur R, really enjoyed this review. I plan to buy the sigma 16mm f1.4 as my ultrawide lens, but after saw your video about these 2 new lenses ( sony 11mm f1.8 and viltrox 13mm f1.4 ), ill have viltrox 13mm f1.4 in my shopping list
Size/weight and quality matters for APSC travel kit. Hence it's Sony 11mm for me. If size and weight are not considered, I'll bring my a7RIII setup instead. Hence my choice for APSC lens take size and weight into consideration.
Very informative, thanks! The quality of this new Vitrox is a big surprise for me since I had the opportunity to test the 56mm and wasn't really overwhelmed with the sharpness and more so with the chroma aberration which was one of the worst I have ever experienced on a lens.
Hello Arthur, I purchased the Viltrox 13mm f1.4 lens for Sony, tested it on both my Sony a6500 + Sony A7c and found a bug that I believe is the result of faulty quality control: I normally set my cameras to Aperture Priority. The lens aperture ring is set to A. I turn the camera on and the camera defaults to f/2.0 instead of f/1.4 when I turn the aperture ring on the lens back to A, it goes again to f/2.0. of course I can turn the ring manually to f/14 - but it seems like a bug that could be fixed with firmware update. I contacted VILTROX several times via email and messenger and they either ignored me or brushed me aside. I also asked this question in the relevant DP forum, but nobody was familiar with this bug. potential buyers ought to know this.
If you want flexibility, just go ahead with the zoom. They are probably very similar sharpness-wise stopping down, the point of the 11mm is the fast f1.8 aperture for such a ultra-wide lens.
@@nhancao4790 Hey. Thanks for the answer. My question was directly aimed at the real world advantage of that aperture and if it is worth the loss of flexibility.
I dig how tiny and light the Sony is. For those that will buy the FX30, it's really the only way to go so wide with AF. Nice work as usual (I know it was awhile ago).

Fantastic comparison thank you so very much! I've been on a 4 month research bender for a wide aspc lens & narrowed it down to the Rokinon and the sony. This made my decision easy!
Fantastic video! What would work best for me… RUclips guitar tutorials in a small bedroom. Would like a nice blur in the background and the camera to be setup quite close. Any help would be great! Sony zv-e10
I already have the sigma 16 1.4, so the Sony 11's my choice. The difference between 16 and 13 just isn't enough, and the laowa 9mm has too many imperfections, so the Sony is a good balance between optical quality and field of view.
I like sony and viltrox they give good vibes. Sony > viltrox > samy (though sony and viltrox looks nicest but size of sony is wow) Though 16mm is too much for vloging but nice for environmenntal shot. For me 18-20 is sweet spot for selfies vlogs, but again 16mm is useful for other things especially opening shots
Hi there from 2024, came here looking for a wide angle for my a6700, currently the Sony is slightly cheaper than the Viltrox (€549 vs €579), that compared with the wider angle made me pick the Sony! Thanks for the informative video!
Thank you, Arthur R! Excellent comparison review. I've been waiting for this. Your presentation is impeccable as always. Like you, I have been waiting for UWA AF lenses like this for APS-C for a long time. Tough choice: Viltrox, 13 = great quality, great price, but big and less wide. Sony 11 = nice and wide, great quality optics, but relatively expensive. Samyang 12 = a bit off image-wise, but small and a great value.
would be great to compare youtube video/studio style, for talking head, product and portrait video and photo between the viltrox 13mm, sigma 16mm and maybe even the sigma 18-50 2.8, as these 3 are on top of the list for anyone looking for a a youtube setup with the zv-e10/6400/6100. thanks!

Thank you so much for this review. Did you ever update the firmware on the rokonin? I just got the samyang and I’m debating on whether it’s worth buying the dock to do the update or not. Also how is rolling shutter on the other two?
I think the Viltrox is the first chinese AF lens that has nothing to 'be jealous' about. Got the Rokinon on a killer 199$ deal on Amazon and it's great for my UWA needs.

I wish there was something like the 11mm F1.8 on the Fuji system. I have the Samyang/Rokinon 12mm F2 manual focus and the colours/contrast are off (also the AF version is noticeably worse optically). The Viltrox 13mm is good but too big/heavy.
Viltrox vs Sigma please! I've always wished the sigma was a tad bit wider for landscapes so it should be interesting to compare optics given the similar price tag and focal length.

I wonder if you had the updated firmware for the Rokinon. Ver 2 that came out in 2021. I just got the lens and it's still on ver 1, but the update is supposed to help with autofocus. Sadly, gotta buy a $40 adapter to update it.
$360 for the Viltrox over a year ago was a great price for this lense. Not many other lenses could compete with that vocal length and the price. But know in late 2023 it's $470 on Amazon after taxes. For that price I would go for more of a name brand than a Viltrox. Just my opinion.
hi all, looking to pick up my first sony camera , here in the uk the A7iii & A7c are both priced at £1699 new, or should i just jump in for the A7iv at £2399 ?
Which these ultra wide angle lenses do you suggest for indoor real estate videography in a low light noisy situation with the Sony ZV-E10 camera ? 👇 1. Sony 11mm f.1/8 2. Samyang 12mm 3. Rokinon 12mm 4. Tamron 11-20mm 5. Viltrox 13mm F1.4
You can use gyro stabilization ( gimbal style stabilization ) with Catalyst Browse in Sony ZV-E10, α7C, α7 IV, α7S III. Even if this lens had stabilization it would still be too weak for video. The stabilization in the lens is mainly for photography for good qality video you always need gimal for example Zhiyun Crane M3 or M2S.
@@Sebartus Catalyst Browse sucks. It takes one big process more plus you have to keep your shutter high for it to work properly. Plus there is a crop. Gimbal it is for video. There is no other good solution.

$360 for the Viltrox over a year ago was a great price for this lense. Not many other lenses could compete with that vocal length and the price. But know in late 2023 it's $470 on Amazon after taxes. For that price I would go for more of a name brand than a Viltrox. Just my opinion.
Awesome job. Thank you!!
Where's the sony 15mm F1.4 ?
It’s crazy expensive for a comparison like this!
hi all, looking to pick up my first sony camera , here in the uk the A7iii & A7c are both priced at £1699 new, or should i just jump in for the A7iv at £2399 ?
I’d only been asking them for 5 years straight for a 16mm = for there Apsc cameras .
Please add chapter markers
Thank you
Dziękuję za dobrą robotę
Low light test is what all matters.
If only the viltrox had weather sealing ;_; come on viltrox make a pro version add a bit of sealing tone down the chromatic aberation I will buy o.o
Fast wide angle is always nice.
want to see sigma 16mm vs viltrox 13mm
Which these ultra wide angle lenses do you suggest for indoor real estate videography in a low light noisy situation with the Sony ZV-E10 camera ?
👇
1. Sony 11mm f.1/8
2. Samyang 12mm
3. Rokinon 12mm
4. Tamron 11-20mm
5. Viltrox 13mm F1.4
My Friend, Have you figured it out? I'm looking for the same...Appreciate if you could suggest me...
No OSS for all 3 lenses ! A real bummer. If you have a non-IBIS camera you are forced to use a gimbal for video.
@@Sebartus do all three lenses have gyro ?
I'd choose the sony just for the size.
Viltrox❤
спасибо за обзор
No one is going to zoom in an ultra-wide angle lens and expect it to be Sharp
How is the 11mm for real estate? Is it too wide with distortion?
My Friend, Have you figured it out? I'm looking for the same...Appreciate if you could suggest me...
the manual 12mm rokinon is way sharper then the sony...just saying....
It is really nonsensical to judge the name build quality by touching the outer shell material, it is so shallow thinking.
How come 11mm f1.8 has more bokeh than 13mm f1.4
i guess maybe it's because the 11mm is wider angle and Arthur zoomed in to match the size of the images. Maybe?
maybe not the same focus
11mm has much closer focusing distance

SUPERFAN #1!
@@ArthurR Please add Sony 15mm F1.4 and Sigma 16mm F1.4 and do the also low light test for all this lenses.
Of those 3 I would get the Sony 11mm 1.8, the Viltrox are too big and heavy (stupid on a APSC Camera !) and with longer focal length, I do not trust chinese made products ! That said I will not get any of those, I will get the Sony 15mm 1.4 G Lens !
