I trust nothing sec mayorkas says but the emails referenced HHS (health and human services) and mayorkas is sec of DHS (department of homeland security) so he can claim not to know what's going on in HHS. The fact that DHS is leading the charge on suppressing "disinformation" and defining anything that goes against their narrative as disinformation is another matter entirely.
Senator Hawley said those were HHS emails, not DHS emails. But his broader point was that DHS is the department spearheading these 3rd party communications.
