ABOUT SENATOR JOHN CORNYN
Senator John Cornyn was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 2002, and is currently serving his fourth term after being reelected in 2008, 2014, and 2020.
He sits on the Senate Finance, Intelligence, and Judiciary Committees, where he helps craft legislation on behalf of 29 million Texans. From 2013 until 2018 Senator Cornyn was chosen by his colleagues to serve as the Republican Whip, the second-highest ranking position in the Senate Republican Conference.
A San Antonio native, Senator Cornyn has served the people of Texas for nearly four decades, as a district judge, a member of the Texas Supreme Court, and Texas Attorney General, before representing the Lone Star State in the U.S. Senate.
This is why I could NEVER be in the Congress or Senate because my patience with this man and his deceitful and intentional lying would make me lose it!
Title 42 suspends all title 8 laws and authority use to deter and penalize illegal border crossing. The Right is using it to undermine legal asylum under 8 US code 1158. It also suspends 8 US code 1325; the misdemeanor that carries a civil penalty for crossing the border illegally. And 8 US code 1326; stiffer penalties for crossing the border.
That leaves out any legal penalty or deterrent for those crossing and stops legal asylum, with few exceptions under title 42. Makes it difficult to enforce immigration laws when Republicans are fighting in court to undermine our legal enforcement. With title 42 suspending enforcement that means many immigrants recross multiple times causing apprehension numbers to be inflated. The current rate of multiple returns is about 40% of border crossers.

When the senator asked “Do you know where these people are?” And Mayorkas said yes, that is a lie. I work for the Border Patrol. Unless these two men are encountered again, the agency will have no idea where they are. I work in one of the northern states, and I see illegals who came over in Texas or Arizona or California EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. Not a single one of them residing at the location listed in their records. Absolute chaos.
I live in rural Utah in a town of about 10k people… over the past two years or so we have seen a huge influx of non English speaking migrants flood into our town. There are no homes to rent, our streets are packed full of vehicles and crime is skyrocketing… makes a lot of us small town folks wonder why on earth they’re coming here. There aren’t many jobs… it’s an oil field town and with the current administration’s war on oil, work in the fields is scarce… I’m in construction and it seems as though that’s what all of them are doing. It’s bad for small business owners like me who are just trying to get by on what work is available. We are getting under-bid constantly.
@@chaseblood1618 Get on a network of national contractors and find out where those workers are needed. You don't have to do that by yourself, but it is a good, productive job to deal with immigrants looking for work. The wouldn't overwhelm small towns or anywhere the aren't needed.

Senator, I want to thk you for what you do. One of your constituents told a story about how they contacted you to help them. Her husband was diagnosed with cancer, and his employer dropped his health insurance and his pension because of the sickness. They said that they contacted you and you hopped into action for them. You weren't afraid to get involved and the work you did changed the outcome for them. Title 42 suspends all title 8 laws and authority use to deter and penalize illegal border crossing. The Right is using it to undermine legal asylum under 8 US code 1158. It also suspends 8 US code 1325; the misdemeanor that carries a civil penalty for crossing the border illegally. And 8 US code 1326; stiffer penalties for crossing the border.
That leaves out any legal penalty or deterrent for those crossing and stops legal asylum, with few exceptions under title 42. Makes it difficult to enforce immigration laws when Republicans are fighting in court to undermine our legal enforcement. With title 42 suspending enforcement that means many immigrants recross multiple times causing apprehension numbers to be inflated. The current rate of multiple returns is about 40% of border crossers.
