He plays behind his back for damn near half the set, breaks the third string (actually, it was the fourth string, thank you SpikeyTarantula) near the end, keeps playing, then takes the guitar off, puts it on the ground, flips it around, and keeps producing some of the most awesome sounds ever generated from an axe.
There are people who play the guitar, and then there are those who WIELD a guitar. And Stevie Ray Vaughan was, hands down, one of the best to ever wield a guitar.
Rest in peace, S.R.V., and thank you.

It is a beacon of humanity." Santriani said that about the original by Hendrix. For me, SRV is the only one who has come close to the true spirit of the original and whose is the only other version I'll listen to. No stupid 'who played it better' comments, please. I'll second everything great thing said about Stevie, but got to add his backing band are straight up killers . Stevie never did the same thing twice, and would take the energy up and down at will , and those Cats were ready to follow him at the drop of a hat. If you pay attention you can see them constantly watching him, waiting to see if he was going back to the mic for another vocal or going to extend whatever solo he was playing. And they are improvising as well when it fits, filling in the frequencies when needed ,flipping the beat, it really is impressive .
