I love myself!! i LOVe my body. I do not have any problem. I am only hungry all the time( as all women I know in my age are). I kept on buying larger and larger dress sizes ... It is not healthy. but I do not think I look bad. I love myself
Not in your control I know, Marie-Anne, but I would like to see more models over 50 with a tummy. Most plus-size models still have flat stomachs, and they have young, firm skin because they're 20-somethings. We ladies of a certain age need to be represented in a different category that's not necessarily plus sized but can't wear the things we used to. A lot of us are in a limbo land of not skinny, not fat. The midsection is a minefield!
I so agree! Also, plus-sized models always have tiny waists and big hips, but we all thicken around the waist in middle-age, even without weight gain. My waist is 4 inches bigger at age 64, although my weight is exactly the same, 125 lbs., as on my wedding day 40 years ago and my narrow hips are no bigger. I can’t find any trousers or jeans that fit. Those young models, especially the fit models they use for sizing and pattern-making clothes, have small, firm middles that we don’t have, so the clothes never fit well. I used to be teased about my concave tummy, that it “stuck in instead of out”, but no longer! I don’t know a single 50-year old with a flat tummy, female or male, it just doesn’t work that way. Our society has to adjust its expectations, no one has a 16-year old body, however thin and fit they might be, at age 50 or 60. Or firm, unwrinkled arms, why expect that for 60-year olds?🙂
Bonjour Patricia thank you for accepting that the selection of models is not in my control 🙏 I wish there were a greater selection of plus size models and of various shapes. It took 3 full days for us to find all the examples in this video 🙁
Shepherds fashions in Ottawa has a daily fashion show. They cater to the mature woman with all of their size range but there are a couple of larger petite women in the mix. They also have videos on dressing the apple shape. They sell mainly basics and then style them with accessories. It would be useful to have the names of plus size stores that aren’t big box. I would rather have a small good quality collection. Sympli is a Canadian company that sells basics in plus size as well as regular sizing.
I just donated and gave away most of my unflattering clothes. Today I wore a long khaki shirt dress with a wide black belt, a black and khaki shoes , and pearls. It looked so nice 😊
I just celebrated my one year anniversary of walking 1 hour a day, every single day for a year. I went from doing absolutely nothing to loving my daily walks. I do it at gym on treadmill. I lost about 10ths, now at 110lbs. I can’t recommend it highly enough to everyone! I feel great!
I encourage a healthy body with a healthy mind and a healthy attitude. Loving yourself for who you are allows you to become who you want to be for the right reasons and much easier
THANK YOU Marie-Anne!!! I was small until I began going through "the change", and put on 60 pounds in under a year while I was eating very healthy AND exercising. And I can't lose it. I have not given up but I'm at a loss. And with all the fat-shaming the attitude is "you want to look good, lose weight". I get the impression that the reason plus size clothing is so abysmal is to punish us and Shame us into losing weight. We ladies are well-aware; painfully aware of our shortcomings but we still want to look nice. I appreciate you including us in your videos. One problem with clothes, across the board is that the manufacturers and designers don't really know how to tailor or cut designs and fabrics in ways that are flattering. I still had that issue when I was much thinner. I have vintage clothes... most of them I can no longer wear, but the clothes from the 40s and 50s were so well tailored and designed. And the details were amazing. A lot of the outfits I had were department store brands. Maybe from their couture collections but not designer. Now you can spend a fortune and they are still not tailored well. I so appreciate the time you take to do these terrific videos. Thank you.
You are very welcome Liz - the place to start is from loving yourself as you are - then if you wish to change make small changes to diet, exercise whatever you can do to start moving things in the direction you want 🙏
Right! Those younger women flitting around in long satin skirts, with a casual T, or chunky sweater, and Adidas Sambas... So cute! But not for me. But I made one exception as to a shinier fabric, and got a black leather moto jacket last fall.
Thin sandal straps are not kind to swollen feet. Thick straps may not be so flattering but they are more comfortable so I will continue to wear them. A nude sandal is more flattering than a dark one.
I love my beige sandals but alas, they are now very dirty looking. I've tried washing them with a cloth and all kinds of soap, detergents, spray whatever to no avail. I don't wear them too often since I am too conscious of looking like a slob.
Great video. Also the "column of color" technique works wonders (white dress with adark cardigan over it makes a white vertical line. A way i cheat the neckline when i want a v-neck is to wear a long necklace. It makes a long V. Edited to add: long necklace with a large/heavy pendant.

Bonjour Marie-Anne, It's lovely to be here again after almost a month away. We were in The Netherlands touring on our own before taking a cruise around Iceland. There was lots of opportunity on the cruise to people-watch. Lovely women from all over the world - Europe, Australia, Canada, the USA. I analyzed a lot of outfits with your lessons; what worked, what didn't work, and how to improve. I would have loved to say to so many women - you have a waist, let's see it! And after spending nearly 24 hours in transit on the way home, airports were also places to people-watch. Thank you for your videos and your e-courses, Marie-Anne. With your help, I felt mostly chic for the trip. Black linen trousers, a black t-shirt, and a medium-blue linen-cotton blazer comprised my travel outfit, and I was complimented on it. Mille mercis encore, Marie-Anne!
Really liked the gray pleated dress with I think its called a princess style. I've seen heavy women who dressed and looked lovely. It's really not the weight I don't think but how you view yourself. Be beautiful inside and it usually shines through.
Marie-Anne, I donated so many summer clothes after seeing how some just weren’t working for me….. looks like it is time to bring out my winter wardrobe and pack away my summer one. I know 100% that I have a few chunky turtleneck sweaters in there, but with five more years to live in the Canadian Arctic, they won’t be going anywhere until we leave. I wanted to take a moment to thank you and let you know how appreciated you are. Merci❣️
Marie-Anne thank you so much for these great tips. You are my favorite fashion expert, and I so appreciate all of your advice. Being a plus sized lady I need all the help I can get with my wardrobe. You are a lovely beautiful down to earth lady. Thanks again! 💜
Great tips. I am not overweight but at 72 and barely 5 feet tall, some of these are for me...vertical stripes, same color shoes, ruching to mask the little tummy I've gathered! Thanks!
Please take a look at keto / carnivore lifestyle. I lost 30kg and kept it off by eating zero carbs. I went from size 22 to size 10. I'm older than you, but feel so well eating like this, and have honestly never felt better. I've been doing this for about 1 1/2 years now and will always eat like this because I feel so well and look so good. I feel decades younger. Zero carbs is a lot easier than keto because you don't have to count or measure anything and when you feel hungry you eat. You can find out about this by searching on youTube; Dr Ken Berry, Dr Anthony Chaffee, Dr Tony Hampton, Kelly Hogan, Zero Carb Life (Dave Mac), Homestead How (Kerry). All the best
Very informative yet again Marie-Anne, I never realised how slimming the side panels were until this video, some very nice outfits and tips for the larger ladies, you usually give me a chuckle at least and again you didn’t fail. Thank you
Great video for all older women, even those like me who aren't "plus size" (I wear a medium, 8-10), but have the normal sags and bulges of age. I'm 63, and I've always been fairly slender (sometimes downright skinny)... but about 5 yrs ago I started wearing "mild" shapewear to smooth out my back. Adopted nude underwear (or black) MANY years ago!
No thanks to fairly severe scoliosis I am very short waisted. If I tuck in a shirt my shortened torso is a mismatch for my very long legs. I don’t wear baggy tops because they look terrible too-unless I’m exercising. What do you suggest I do? Your channel is so helpful to me. You are an inspiration for us women of a certain age in showing that aging has a lot to do with one’s attitude. Having taught several years at a large university I discovered that many of my students were years older than me in their outlook on life which broke my heart. Being young at heart is the way to age gracefully and with class, n’est ce pas mon amie?💜
Bonjour Monica, I have helped several ladies with scoliosis in the past email me info@marieannelecoeur.com with a short torso you may have to be careful of tucking - watch here ruclips.net/video/WAJkYLcldxU/видео.html
Love your videos, Marie Anne! I have a challenge for you - how to look elegant in the coldest country in the world, Canada, six months of the year??? When you have to shovel snow for an hour to get to your car or walk to your bus and same upon returning home??? Any ideas for a "practical" yet elegant extreme cold winter wardrobe? I feel like I dress and look like a firemen most of the winter. 😅😂😅
one thing I am not fond of is where ladies wear trousers which only reach down to above the ankle. Being short myself (152 cm) I immediately look even shorter, hence even large ladies look wider and shorter and make you legs rather short instead of trousers/jeans etc.. streamlined to over the ankles.
Love your videos and the many helpful suggestions I get from you. I taught English language to French students for 15 years and I can say you are one of those who have really strong French accent, which I like a lot, since your language is so beautiful and romantic !
My budgie refused to wear matt black little suit, what to do Marie-Anne? On a serious note, I have accepted what you have said and overhauled my wardrobe and donated to charity.
If you still have a waist, it should definitely be your best feature. I am broad in the beam with a developing stomach and HUGE arse. All the dresses I tried on over the past weekend made me want to go inside and never leave the house. In the end, I settled for an oversized shirt to cover the arse, worn with jeans and a short jacket. The truth, however, is that I should shed some kilos and I am going to addres this by changing my eating habits - be gone sugar, fats and too much pasta.
Plus-sized fashion offerings are just awful, I feel bad for anyone who needs to shop in this size range. It’s almost all black or huge-print, polyester knit fabrics, horrible. That’s one reason, besides my health, that I strive to keep my weight within the normal range; plus-size women just don’t have any decent clothing choices. When are brands going to get the message? The average US woman is now plus-sized, specifically a size 16 US/20UK and only 5’4”/164 cm tall. Many women, of course are much, much bigger, what can they possibly wear? When I was a US size 12, I decided to lose the excess weight, it was hard enough to find clothes I liked at that size, especially in non-US brands. Everyone needs stylish, natural-fiber clothing in all color and pattern options, not just “slimming black”. I do want to encourage all women who want to lose weight for whatever reasons: it’s difficult, but it’s not impossible, just keep trying to make small improvements towards a healthier lifestyle and don’t be discouraged! I’m 64 and lost 50 lbs. over a few years with a combination of daily walks and the elimination of sugar and simple carbs. (grains and root veggies, I still eat fruit) from my diet. You will live longer, feel better and have much more fun getting dressed, it’s well worth it🙂
I agree so much with you. Overweight is not healthy and leads to much higher incidences of diabetes, heart decease and cancer. While is it true that our shape does change with age, child-bearing and menopause, it is not responsible to let ourselves get overweight. Marie-Anne's tips are very useful for disguising the thickening waistline even on people who are careful to maintain normal weight.
Sigh. I think most of us know that about health and normal weight and how to achieve it under optimal conditions. However, a proportion of people gain weight with medications or through certain health conditions like thyroid or gut abnormalities or being unableto exercise. You might find a way to shed that weight or you may not. Meantime, you want to dress in a flattering way and would prefer not to be deemed greedy or lazy. I do not think it is helpful to tell people it is not responsible to gain weight, @alcogito8287. It was probably irresponsible of my ancestors to mix their DNA. Thank you for a non judgemental video, @Marianne.
I like your channel. It encourages me to change it up, be a little daring. BUT...drawing attention to my waist with belted dresses is the worst. I have rolls both above and below my natural waist. And that lumpiness SHOWS! Even at 28, when I was a well muscled 128 lbs at 5"7", I had a spare tire around my hips (though NO rolls above my waist) Now. at 64, weighing 161 at 5'6", the double rolls are terrible! I figure that since its harder to build muscle now that I'm older, I must get down to 115-120 lbs to lose the rolls. Working on it. Very frustrating. So, for now, I feel that I must hide.

I am curious about how wearing white sneakers can help us look modern, but not necessarily elongate as they are often a contrasting colour to the main outfit and would cut off any lengthening . Otherwise as always Marie -Anne great ideas here thank you!
White sneakers are a more modern shoe and hence give a modern look to an outfit. Yes they generally contrast in colour to the pant and could be said to be 'leg shortening' but there are other leg lengthening techniques you can use to counteract this if required watch here ruclips.net/video/bUc4w0_vhZ4/видео.html
It can get quite cold where I am to save bulk in clothing I use the thermal singlets/ tops. I find I can then dress more fashionably and not feel like the Michelin man for extended period of time. It also helps with storage as I don’t have as many bulky clothes to store
Another great video Marie-Anne. Forgive me but I can't remember/can't find which video it was that you briefly mentioned about some little kind of device that you can use to gather or cinch your top in at the waist on one side - perhaps it was some kind of elastic. Could you possibly provide the name or a link? Merci!
Thank you for pointing out that shoes with straps cut off the leg. It amazes me so many people don't see this. Also, anything bootie goes with pants/trousers, not a dress, it cuts you off even more and looks clunky, ,regardless of $$$$ and who designed them. Don't even get me started on anything gladiator...
Your comments about thickness of fabric solidified something I had been thinking about: WHY do I always look overwhelmed by jackets?! I love the idea of them, but they just never really work as well as an open cardigan or duster. It occurred to me the other day that jackets tend to be made of more rigid fabric, where cardigans and dusters are flowier. This, I think, will save me a lot of disappointment. I can still wear a jacket, but will know it’s not my _best_ choice.
I like your thinking LlamaSugar. Jackets are made up of sandwiches of different fabrics to give it structure and shape so are indeed much thicker than cardigans👍
The shiny fabrics she mentions are not shiny. It depends on how the fabric was treated/dyed. The only exception is satin. That can be a little tricky to wear. Horizontal stripes can be worn so long as the blouse is fitted. If a dress has horizontal stripes, do not wear it because that will make you look wider.

I have felt terrified to be social as an auto immune disease has caused my body to betray me for the first time in my life. Clothing styles sizes I have worn for decades I cannot anymore. 40 pound weight gain that wouldn't budge I found out is Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. I want to feel even an iota of my confidence again 😓 Thank you for this. For us who are needing information and courage to approach a wardrobe it is invaluable. 🙏🏼 I wonder- I adored silk and cashmere adorning with vintage statement pieces such as beautiful silk scarves or belts. I would be interested how "statement pieces" or makeup might play into the picture? To balance and draw the eye away or flatter? :)
Bonjour Kaitlyn - I hope you find a solution for your situation - I understand it can be helped with medication or in less severe cases by diet. I am so sorry you have lost your confidence. Statement jewellery and pieces can certainly help by attracting the eye and creating a focus on your outfit. Style works from the outside in - by improving your style it can increase your confidence and from the inside out by increasing your confidence it helps you make better and bolder style decisions. It is a positive reinforcing cycle that I have found can work wonders. Another thing that you can do is to use your music to create confidence in yourself - you have a beautiful soulful and expressive voice - channel your creativity into that and your style and I am sure you will begin to feel confident again 😃 I was travelling through Paris yesterday and in The Gare Saint Lazare they have a piano set up for commuters to play there was a young disabled girl playing some classic, contemporary and improv pieces - she had a huge crowd around her listening - it was wonderful to see and to hear 🙏
@@MarieAnneLecoeur Thank you for your kind, thoughtful and quick response. It's really giving me some insight. I'm realizing the more that I wallowed I was keeping myself from a life that nourished me. Worse there also was guilt as I've kept fans from music that they loved as well. Bonjour Kaitlyn - I am sure that when you return to your music your inner life will become refreshed and that will absolutely transform the outer you ❤️ please let me know how you get on 😘

Budgies 😆 From now on, I'll call them Budgies, not bulges! Thanks for another great video, Marie-Anne!
😃🦜
I have budgies as well
Like thos video ,thank you it's need to budgies too❤
Great tips. I am not overweight but at 72 and barely 5 feet tall, some of these are for me...vertical stripes, same color shoes, ruching to mask the little tummy I've gathered! Thanks!
You are very welcome Joann x
I love my birkenstocks !
Very informative yet again Marie-Anne, I never realised how slimming the side panels were until this video, some very nice outfits and tips for the larger ladies, you usually give me a chuckle at least and again you didn’t fail. Thank you
😃👍
Your glowing makeup is lovely
Love these quick tips!
Beautiful French woman! 🌺Love her amazing accent! 🥰 Merci beaucoup!!
Merci
I love that green dress!! Seriously ready to buy…
I am glad you found it useful Andria 😃
Consider swimming laps. It really gets rid of back bulges!
Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!!
You are very welcome Eva x
Thank you for your wonderful tips.
😘
Love your videos, Marie Anne! I have a challenge for you - how to look elegant in the coldest country in the world, Canada, six months of the year??? When you have to shovel snow for an hour to get to your car or walk to your bus and same upon returning home??? Any ideas for a "practical" yet elegant extreme cold winter wardrobe? I feel like I dress and look like a firemen most of the winter. 😅😂😅
Oh My Tango - my sister lives in Canada. Always dress for the weather - health before style 👍
@@MarieAnneLecoeur - love you back beautiful and wise Marie Anne 🙏
Thank you. I am using these tips and I have been told if I lost some weight.
😃👍
Boot cut pants are magic for making longer legs, especially when they are just a touch past the ankle and worn with boots with a heel of any kind.
They are my fave too 😃
I love your videos. A big hug from Colombia ❤❤❤
🤗
one thing I am not fond of is where ladies wear trousers which only reach down to above the ankle. Being short myself (152 cm) I immediately look even shorter, hence even large ladies look wider and shorter and make you legs rather short instead of trousers/jeans etc.. streamlined to over the ankles.
Crop trousers are the worst 😬 and are worn by so many influencers over 50, but no stylists - what does that tell you 😉
Love your videos and the many helpful suggestions I get from you. I taught English language to French students for 15 years and I can say you are one of those who have really strong French accent, which I like a lot, since your language is so beautiful and romantic !
Merci Blue Mountain, most French people think I am English as they say my English accent is so strong 😃
@@MarieAnneLecoeur 😄🤩🌹
Your aversion to Birkenstocks cracks me up!!!😂
😃👍
My budgie refused to wear matt black little suit, what to do Marie-Anne? On a serious note, I have accepted what you have said and overhauled my wardrobe and donated to charity.
A good decluttering will help your style like nothing else Mysha 😃
What is your skincare routine? Lovely skin!
I made several videos about my skin care routine Plasek 😃 I hope you get a chance to watch them x
Best of luck on your weight loss journey Victoria 🙏
Very useful tips and thank you for sharing 🙂
Hello Marie-Anne, I loved the techniques you shared, even though I'm in my 30s, I will definitely apply them to upgrade my style. Cariños desde Chile❤
They are style tips for every age Karen 😃 I always add 'over 50' as that is my main demographic 😃
Thank you! Great tips indeed!
Indeed so Kimberly 😘
Steroids omg 20 lbs up quick😢@@sianharris2984
Also it helps to stand tall, shoulders back.
Posture is very important Ruth 😃

Thank you Marie-Anne you’re a wealth of knowledge 🙂
Great logical information….thank you.
Thank you for the excellent suggestions.
You are very welcome Diane x
Amazing. Love it ❤❤❤❤ tkx for sharing ❤❤❤❤❤❤
😘
It can get quite cold where I am to save bulk in clothing I use the thermal singlets/ tops. I find I can then dress more fashionably and not feel like the Michelin man for extended period of time. It also helps with storage as I don’t have as many bulky clothes to store
Many thin layers is better than fewer bulky layers 👍
I love this page.
🤗
Another great video Marie-Anne. Forgive me but I can't remember/can't find which video it was that you briefly mentioned about some little kind of device that you can use to gather or cinch your top in at the waist on one side - perhaps it was some kind of elastic. Could you possibly provide the name or a link? Merci!
It was a hairband or elastic band 😃
Thank you for pointing out that shoes with straps cut off the leg. It amazes me so many people don't see this. Also, anything bootie goes with pants/trousers, not a dress, it cuts you off even more and looks clunky, ,regardless of $$$$ and who designed them. Don't even get me started on anything gladiator...
It sounds like we are Style Sisters Mollie 😃
Excellent ❤ thank you
Great advice!
EXCELLENT !🥰
I love your humour, Marie-Anne :)

I just enjoyed that video so much! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it Kim 😃
I am an 84 year fashionista.I love clothes at my age.
🙌 how wonderful Linda - I would love to see your style 😃
Makeup tip/suggestion, do not put lipstick on outline the all the way to the sides of your lips.
@@MarieAnneLecoeur Merci!
Crepe! I loved it 👍😂❤
😃
Useful, thank you.🤔😊
I love ruching. I make my own sometimes
Yeah.

Marie-Anne, how is your farm going?
It is going well Brydeli 😃 we keep hoping to get back to the other channel but time goes by so quickly and this video took 3 days to gather all the images - we never have enough time 🙁
I really love your videos, but when you spoke against Birkenstock you broke my heart a little bit😅
Sooo true v necks or scoop slimming
I have felt terrified to be social as an auto immune disease has caused my body to betray me for the first time in my life. Clothing styles sizes I have worn for decades I cannot anymore. 40 pound weight gain that wouldn't budge I found out is Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. I want to feel even an iota of my confidence again 😓 Thank you for this. For us who are needing information and courage to approach a wardrobe it is invaluable. 🙏🏼
I wonder- I adored silk and cashmere adorning with vintage statement pieces such as beautiful silk scarves or belts.

Thank you for your kind, thoughtful and quick response.
It's really giving me some insight. I'm realizing the more that I wallowed I was keeping myself from a life that nourished me. Worse there also was guilt as I've kept fans from music that they loved as well. I am in a band that had toured, played live. I am going to try to make it a goal to implement your gracious advice. There is lots to love if I stop focusing on the "outside" :)
Gratefully, KnD
Bonjour Kaitlyn - I am sure that when you return to your music your inner life will become refreshed and that will absolutely transform the outer you ❤️ please let me know how you get on 😘
So I love this but what would be a good wedding guest or mother of bride dress for a plus size woman?
I have done several videos for my Lovely Larger Ladies Jen - I hope you will watch them and get some ideas 😘
Is monochromatic a slimming technique?
It certainly can be Janice - by using one colour/tone it lengthens the silhouette and hence makes you look slimmer 😘
What if you’re over 50 and have an Apple shape with a tummy?
The advice holds good
