Wish there were more warm days. I do need the grubbies for outdoor work. Yes overalls and muck boots. Keep them in a bag til I can clean them. I do like my sundresses when there's nothing messy to do when hot out. Got a hat addiction now since light sensitive. Some cute ones. Sometimes light can trigger a migraine, vertigo or mini seizure. Lots of MRIs and only thing that could be is my popped neck disk from snowmobiling.
Hi Marie-Anne! I am happy to report that I don't even own a pair of leggings or a hoodie. Wearing these in public are cringeworthy. I totally agree with everything you say in this video! Merci!!
I teach and take ballet classes so I sometimes wear leggings for those activities but wear a top that covers hips and derrière. Typically an oversized button down. Once class is over, this outfit gets exchanged for a dress or a pair of jeans. I try to adhere to “there is a time and a place for everything “. I live in the southern US so it gets extremely hot and humid in the summer. Loose fitting dresses are not only more attractive but also much more comfortable. Great comparison video and such a lovely dress you used to illustrate your point 💙
I was trained in ballet for years as a child/teen and we had a uniform for class and now I wear leggings and appropriate tops for class but definitely not as clothes.
The other day, I saw a young woman wearing an elegant, unbuttoned jacket - displaying nothing but a bra top and leggings underneath. You're absolutely right, Marie-Anne. This is underwear. It's so vulgar!!!!

I don't wear active wear or workout clothes because I don't have a young, slim figure. But at age 63, I prefer to wear comfortable tee shirts and casual pants (not denim jeans or leggings) instead of dresses and skirts. I never worry about what others think of what I wear. My parents taught me to dress modestly, wear clean clothes that fit well, and dress "appropriately for the occasion".
@@floyarde7653 I agree completely. Too many women are stuck in the image that Leggings = Athleisure......which we all know was THE trend for several years before and peaking during global lockdown---until being beaten to a pulp when restrictions began to ease. For me anyway, they've morphed from "the latest thing' to wardrobe basic---especially during the cold weather months...WHEN STYLED CORRECTLY. IF they are WELL made and WELL fitting, they truly do flatter all body shapes. A lot of women simply aren't comfortable wearing them, which is fine. The Leggings trend was SO over-done, for such a long time. I mean, in every goofy print imaginable--from puppies to donuts to unicorns; you name it, it was featured on leggings, and displayed for all the world to see. And in such cheap, unsubstantial fabrics too. No wonder chic Vloggers like MarieAnne debunk them 'across the board'. Discernment is key for this type of clothing. But they will always have a place, if they are of high quality and properly fit the wearer. Just my two cents. :)
Your humour is always spot on, loved the hoodie with the Jedi bit. Stepping out of the "dark side" and going from 'cheap to chic' is the real power. Merci beaucoup, Marie-Anne.

Unfortunately the athleisure trend has become so popular especially when lockdowns where many got used to it and I just hope they watch this video. I dress with sporty clothes for my walk and exercice at home. Hoodies, no matter if they are cashmere or cotton, they never look good. Especially for midlife women. Love your dress! 😍It's so easy to dress-up with a dress. No need to think about the top or the bottom matching. Just put it on and voilà! Thank you Marie-Anne! 🥰
I absolutely love those Mary Janes of yours, Marie-Anne. They're so cute. I've recently got similar ones in light grey and I'm looking forward to wear them when we get warm weather here in the UK 🤍
I love your sense of humor. This video was entertaining and very helpful. I agree with every word you said. My husband watched with me and he said you were beautiful even in ugly cloths. 😅❤
Absolutely agree. Leggings only under a skirt for warmth and a hoody is excellent for gardening. Lately I have been seeing too many bras as tops at shopping centres!
I LOVE this video! I agree that chic is so much more beautiful, appropriate, and elegant. So much more self respecting and elevated. Thank you so much! 🌹🌹🌹
I have a small collection of dog-walking hoodies. If it’s colder than I expected or windy, those hoods are helpful. I also wear sports team hoodies especially when “my” teams are playing! It’s cold at the ice hockey arena and outdoor games. No, not chic, but practical!
I do not go out in leggings and a hoody, however i wear leggings under thick trousers and a jumper with a hoody on top in the house and also to pop to the shop up the street. I'm in my 60s and i feel the cold. Here in the UK my monthly energy bill is £227 and that's just with the heating on 5 hours a day. It is nearly May and it's only 7C outside. It's lovely to be smart and chic, but not ea sy when it is so cold.
That was a perfect!!! I never wear hoodies. I HATE WEARING THEM! But, I love how you explain and show better options for day wear after done working out at the gym or doing a session of yoga! A dress is brilliant! Thank you again Marie ❤ for another great tip!🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤😊😊😊
Oh my goodness, my dear French friend if you were to take a trip back to the states with me and I would show you how people go outside dressed not just in yoga but in pajamas, short pajamas it’s like they don’t care. You would absolutely flip your wig… If you had one, lol thank you so much for bringing this to our attention. You know me I love my leggings, but I wear them only when I wear maybe a short dress on top or long tunic top on top and only when it’s cold.
I have NEVER felt comfortable in an outfit like that! Especially now that I’m 60. I wore leggings with a long skirt for dance classes and the gym but when I was done I got in my car went home and changed. I love the dress solution. So easy and uncomplicated. It’s a great dress ❤❤❤ Brilliantly done Marie-Anne ❤
I wear leggings and a hoodie (yes with the hood to keep my head warm) when working out or walking the dogs in the forest. I have also worn a t-shirt dress over my bra top and shorts when doing the cycling and running portions of a triathlon (the bra top and shorts are worn during the swimming portion of the race).
Thank you, Marie Anne! I am a Pilates instructor and I NEVER wear leggings on the subway on my way to teach my classes. But since I don't have much time to change before my class begins, I'll wear drawstring wide leg knit pants while I travel and slip them off beforehand. I don't like this solution really because I feel like I'm wearing baby clothes! This dress is a fabulous option. You always have the stylish solution!
I love this video! Thank you Marie-Anne. I couldn't believe you were wearing the legging and top outfit. The dress is a great idea instead. I also could never wear such a reveling cloth in public. Thank you for all your tips.
Que padre encontrar canales como éste, mujeres de 60 y más compartiendo ideas de como lucir a la moda y cómodas, gracias Marie por tus ideas, me encantan tus videos, de buen gusto, prácticos, actuales y a la vez clásicos. Saludos !!
I was uncomfortable wearing leggings, a sports bra, and a hoodie in my early 20s and never did. For comfort, I buy stretch jeans and finished t-shirts that have finishes like puffy sleeves, lace, or embroidery. Lately, for lounging at home, I bought black wide-leg sweatpants from Victoria's Secret and wore them with a solid black v-neck t-shirt. I feel dressed and comfortable, but I would never wear those out in public. The daughter-in-law and her teenage daughter like to wear in public leggings, hoodies, crocs, and t-shirts, and I do not think I have ever seen them in anything different except at the wedding ceremony when she married my stepson.
I see them in the stores too but not with yoga pants but with leggings which are not quite the same, and I am tempted to tell them, do you think you look acceptable or decent like that in public? It's the same as wearing leotards/pantyhose/tights without the foot (footless). Often they are overweight too. It's the fashion industry-the owners of the stores and items that pushed this look.
I have a loose black cotton jumper that I wear over my yoga togs. I Just slip it on and I look pleasant and put together. Not glamorous, but for some reason, everybody asks me all the time from where I bought it.
Totally agree! And the silhouette of that dress is perfection. A fitted jacket, tailored shirt, high waist boot cut unembellished jeans and almost any foot wear (except trainers or flip-flops) - that's my never fail look for outside the house.
Lol Marie, 100% agree although you do look good in your bra and leggings! Getting dressed is all about caring how you want to present yourself to the world. Some women don’t care. I don’t love the sneaker look with a dress but when being a tourist and walking 16000 steps a day I need my clean leather dress sneakers… ❤️ Love that dress.
Hoodies I use in the fall for yard work. I love them. As far as leggings, I use them with tunic dresses, (in the fall with flats, and in the winter with boots).Call me crazy, but I like the look. Enjoyed the video as always! Your a treasure!
Dear Marie-Anne, thank you very much for this video! I totally agree with you! I'm 38 i never wear revealing clothes, my body is my private space. I only wear leggings in winter under ski wear, or under skirts /dresses. The need to reveal so much of the own body...so attention seeking-like..oh please nooo! ...That because of narcissism, not because of temperatur/workout ! If men can workout with t-shirts/tank tops, women can too!
You look gorgeous in that dress 👗. I felt like buying it immediately, but... wool is a problem to me. I have a jumper with 5 % wool, and I can't stand it around my neck without a cotton scarf.....Such a pity. This dress looks amazing.
I feel comfortable in athleisure---the sports bra and leggings AT HOME. I both work and exercise from home. This is my "'uniform" most days. It took awhile, but am now comfortable with my body in this type of wear, because II follow a fitness lifestyle, and am happy with the results. BUT when/if I have an errand to run, I swap out the leggings for nice jeans or a sundress this time of year. I am of the belief that WELL-made, WELL fitting leggings in a SOLID color (no prints!) will always double as a go-to layering piece during the cooler months, though---and save 'tights' only for when I'm wearing some kind of skirt or dress during Fall/Winter. For me, this helps justify the legging's initial cost---the 'good' brands don't look or feel cheap, and when its cold they can easily do 'double duty' as part of a chic casual ensemble IF styled correctly. :)
Re hoodies, fleece: I’m from a cold climate. A fleece layer is great for around d the house or hiking. Also great under a rain jacket in inclement weather. Everything has its place
I do wear leggings but I wear them with very long tunic tops or short dresses that arent suitable for an older heavy lady alone. I have a couple really cute short dresses that were shorter than I thought when I bought them and a couple that shrunk. I wear leggings and cute sandals or flats w them. Its a compromise to be able to wear the tops. As wear the athletic wear its an American thing I think.
The pointed toe shoes are amazing. I find as a size 14/16 US I have to search a little longer for upscale brands that have nice fit for my body type. A dear friend once taught me that I can look great at any size if the garment is classy and fits right. And I don't wear leggings outside of the gym...nope.😀
I learned to dress properly from my Mom who was an actress and always wore chic and fashionable clothes based on what the occasion called for. As a young teen I had a French saleslady ( clothes were not hanging on racks, but brought into a dressing room) that picked out all of my dresses for dances , formals, etc. Her taste and sense of fashion was individualized by one’s height, weight, and age and even your personality. Less was more and usually only one embellishment was allowed. Of course we all wore the latest fad for casual wear but dressed up for those special occasions. Marie-Anne, you should teach a course to young girls on the proper attire while they’re still open to fresh new ideas, similar to a Home Economics class. Your videos are so engaging and fun to watch 😊
@@roxannegordon6162 I am an older lady at 81. I was just reaffirming that of you’re taught style at a young age it’s a lot easier to understand than when one has developed habits that may be hard to break. I’m thrilled that Anne Marie has this channel that can reach out to all age groups and I hope everyone watching learns some valuable information that they can apply to dress chic without breaking the bank so to speak.☺️
A hood on a hoody is good on a summer night to keep the bugs out of your hair. That's my take on them. I love that dress. If I see something like this around my town it will be coming home.
I am on holiday in Marrakesh and there are lots of French women tourists here, so I can cast my British eye over them. Thanks to years of Marie-Anne’s good advice, I can certainly hold my own. They don’t all get it right themselves, I can tell you!
Bamboo leggings with a longer shirt either a button down and crossbody leather purse or oversized sweater and chunky or sleek boots is very nice. Balance it out better
I do a dance class every sat ,so have to wear a dance outfit but I wear leggings ,short skirt and aerobic top all one colour , I put a trench over the top. Button up. I appreciate the video. Match my outfit to the trench and runners . It looks better than the dance outfit .But we dance 1 hour non stop . Then I towel off and on goes my trench . Love the video.
A woman was wearing a bra as a top in our local Indian restaurant during a busy lunchtime a few weeks ago, and I was mortified on her behalf. She could've at least put a shirt on!
A lot of women wear them as a top here in the UK and even on airplanes! Imagine your bare skin touching those grotty seats. Eew! Planes are filthy. Even my daughter was mortified, 'They're wearing their bras as a top!' When we travel to a hot climate from Scotland we wait to change clothes in the lavs in the airport - more room.
Never felt comfortable in revealing clothes even when I was young and I don’t find the tight leggings comfortable but I am comfortable with loose sweatpants and soft t shirts or sweatshirts
Great topic today! I live in a coastal beach town in Japan, so dress is casual, but few people are disrespectful in their dress here. I always bring a change of clothes to the gym if I am shopping after work out. Store employees here have strict rules on uniforms and grooming in most places. They must keep only black or dark brown hair and certainly no piercings or tattoos. So I strive to give them equal respect by putting on something appropriate. It takes so little effort. Thank you 😊❤
You look georgeous in the blue dress!!! Chic enough to go to dinner, and not embarrass Yourself or anyone in Your company- You really are the Queen of style!!!
There is a really funny RUclips segment of the very handsome actor Colin Firth (everybody's Mr. Darcy) getting stuck in a window at his home wearing only his undershorts and a pair of slippers. A kind-hearted neighbor managed to rescue him but not until the rest of the neighbors had gotten an eyeful. I'd rather not have that happen to me!!
Ohhhh the look on your face Marie-Anne in those leggings and blue hoody - though to be fair the hoody is a nice colour on you 🙂 Where I live in Vancouver that outfit would ... omg yes it's true... be acceptable and commonly worn *office wear* (with the hoody, not just the bra top - even in Vancouver that's only workwear at Fitness World!). One thing though - I'm not sure it's as much about looking cheap as looking invisible. I think the over-casualization of fashion - particularly for older women - is an intentional societal trend to push women into the shadows from about 40-45 onwards. I don't think we should go along with it. If we are invisible we are voiceless and the world loses the benefit of our hard-won experience!

Some of the style videos here on RUclips have that as a way to style leggings.
It is, but people don't care today...

I regularly dress this way to garden or clean house. I'd not leave the house dressed this way. I love the very elegant solution
Yes, my go-to pieces when I'm hanging out at home but no, I don't leave the house wearing them unless it's to exercise.
Maybe not leggins, but that "elegant" dress just causes one to look old and frumpy. I wouldn't wear it any place.

I am in the Northeastern US and have the same problem. I need an anorak and real boots 3 to 4 months of the year.
I have many videos on chic winter outfits Mary 😃
I myself need to dress for the cold up to 8 months a year. Heavy lined leggings can be nice and warmer than jeans. I hate the cold 🥶.
Thermal opaque tights are a thing - in Lidl! And they are great for cold legs.
@@Happyheretic2308 Too thin. Maybe as a layer. There are all different types of leggings.
Right on Marie-Anne. Love your hair with highlights.
Merci Janice x
That was a perfect!!!
I never wear hoodies. I HATE WEARING THEM! But, I love how you explain and show better options for day wear after done working out at the gym or doing a session of yoga! A dress is brilliant!
Thank you again Marie ❤ for another great tip!🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤😊😊😊
You are very welcome Happy x
Oh my goodness, my dear French friend if you were to take a trip back to the states with me and I would show you how people go outside dressed not just in yoga but in pajamas, short pajamas it’s like they don’t care. You would absolutely flip your wig… If you had one, lol thank you so much for bringing this to our attention. You know me I love my leggings, but I wear them only when I wear maybe a short dress on top or long tunic top on top and only when it’s cold.
😱 maybe I need to go on tour Janice 😃
You would indeed be horrified, Anne-Marie!
That's horrible 😅
I have NEVER felt comfortable in an outfit like that! Especially now that I’m 60. I wore leggings with a long skirt for dance classes and the gym but when I was done I got in my car went home and changed. I love the dress solution. So easy and uncomplicated. It’s a great dress ❤❤❤ Brilliantly done Marie-Anne ❤
😘
Hah you made me smile, i saw the label at the waist where you are going to return them ... cannot blame you, great video!
Love the dress. I'm a sucker for bell sleeves.
Such a dress would be lovely to wear to and from your session 😃
I love your videos Marie-Anne, always entertaining and very accurate.
Merci Brandy x
That is wonderful idea . Nobody said a such thing before. How a good idea! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
😘
I wear leggings and a hoodie (yes with the hood to keep my head warm) when working out or walking the dogs in the forest. I have also worn a t-shirt dress over my bra top and shorts when doing the cycling and running portions of a triathlon (the bra top and shorts are worn during the swimming portion of the race).
Great video! Love your classy advice and also your sense of humour! X
Merci Julie x
Thank you, Marie Anne! I am a Pilates instructor and I NEVER wear leggings on the subway on my way to teach my classes. But since I don't have much time to change before my class begins, I'll wear drawstring wide leg knit pants while I travel and slip them off beforehand. I don't like this solution really because I feel like I'm wearing baby clothes! This dress is a fabulous option. You always have the stylish solution!
🤗
I love the dress!
I love this video! Thank you Marie-Anne. I couldn't believe you were wearing the legging and top outfit. The dress is a great idea instead. I also could never wear such a reveling cloth in public. Thank you for all your tips.
It took some courage to put it on and record myself Cata 😬
Que padre encontrar canales como éste, mujeres de 60 y más compartiendo ideas de como lucir a la moda y cómodas, gracias Marie por tus ideas, me encantan tus videos, de buen gusto, prácticos, actuales y a la vez clásicos. Saludos !!
😘
Send them the link to my video Morgan 😉
Thank your blessings that you dont see them often enough.
You are absolutely right again Marie- Anne.x
Suggestion for a future youtube cast: with summer coming, how would we dress for an outdoor garden party/picnic?
I will see what I can do Ms B x
Looking good. I like the lighter hair color and the lighter lipstick
Miss Marie-Anne the dress is totally chic darling and comfortable too nice work my Beautiful Teacher l love you 😘❤️
Merci Hector
You're welcome my sweet queen
I went to the grocery store this morning and everyone had their yoga outfits on.
😱
Horrible. I am so sorry you have to see all of that 😅
I see that a lot as well, since there's a workout studio two doors down from the grocery store.
Can I ask where do you live? Here in Italy no one older than 20 could ever think to go around like that!!!
I’m going to try long cotton dress maybe over shorts this summer.
🙌
I've been doing this for eons. Hubby doesn't want me to go out and be tooo sexy! :)
You are so right Marie you are so smart and classy
🤗
Indeed. Polish, sophistication, and finesse seem to be in very short supply in 2024.
💯👍
Merci Marieann, efficient as usual!
I have a loose black cotton jumper that I wear over my yoga togs. I Just slip it on and I look pleasant and put together. Not glamorous, but for some reason, everybody asks me all the time from where I bought it.
Great dress! Thanks for the link. Unfortunately the dress cannot get shipped to the United States.
Sorry about that 🙁
Some people will wear anything 😂! Thank you, Marie- Ann !
Indeed they will Pam 🙁
Totally agree! And the silhouette of that dress is perfection. A fitted jacket, tailored shirt, high waist boot cut unembellished jeans and almost any foot wear (except trainers or flip-flops) - that's my never fail look for outside the house.
👏
Lol Marie, 100% agree although you do look good in your bra and leggings! Getting dressed is all about caring how you want to present yourself to the world. Some women don’t care. I don’t love the sneaker look with a dress but when being a tourist and walking 16000 steps a day I need my clean leather dress sneakers… ❤️ Love that dress.
I agree she does look good but she has so much class ❤
Merci Amelia x
Merci Ms P x
💯👍
Never would I wear what you have on to begin with Marie-Anne. Thank you. May you please take care and stay safe. 👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️🤩🤩🤩
Stay safe?
Marie Anne you are so right about hoodies and leggings! by the way, your figure is beautiful!
Merci Lucja x
Agree 100% but must say you look wonderful Marie-Anne! You're an inspiration!
Merci Shania x
Only on my way to and back from the gym! Never in broad daylight. But I am an anomaly here in NYC. I despise athlesuire .
😘
Me, too, San Francisco 🙂
You are my lucky charm. I have used your advice for the past few years and it has been bringing me fashion success.
❤
Yayyyyyy 🙌
You look gorgeous in that dress 👗. I felt like buying it immediately, but... wool is a problem to me.
I have a jumper with 5 % wool, and I can't stand it around my neck without a cotton scarf.....Such a pity.
This dress looks amazing.
Did you ever try merino wool? I cannot wear wool because it feels extremly itchy but I love merino wool.
@@werweissdasschon9776
AGREED & cashmere as well. 😊
Beautiful dress!!!
I love dresses, they are so easy to wear.
👍
Your friend was right 😃👍
I learned to dress properly from my Mom who was an actress and always wore chic and fashionable clothes based on what the occasion called for.
I am available Terrie 😃
young girls?? What about us older ladies who Marie is preaching too???
@@roxannegordon6162 I am an older lady at 81. I was just reaffirming that of you’re taught style at a young age it’s a lot easier to understand than when one has developed habits that may be hard to break. I’m thrilled that Anne Marie has this channel that can reach out to all age groups and I hope everyone watching learns some valuable information that they can apply to dress chic without breaking the bank so to speak.☺️
You are absolutely right 👍
Thank you ❤️
😘
LOL Marie I am still laughing about the sentence you got a RUclips not a onlyfans - you are great - love your channel
😃👍
This is eye opening for me, Marie-Anne. 🔥 thank you!
You are very welcome Jules x
😘
A woman was wearing a bra as a top in our local Indian restaurant during a busy lunchtime a few weeks ago, and I was mortified on her behalf. She could've at least put a shirt on!
😱
A lot of women wear them as a top here in the UK and even on airplanes! Imagine your bare skin touching those grotty seats. Eew! Planes are filthy. Even my daughter was mortified, 'They're wearing their bras as a top!' When we travel to a hot climate from Scotland we wait to change clothes in the lavs in the airport - more room.
That dress is beautiful
💙
Never felt comfortable in revealing clothes even when I was young and I don’t find the tight leggings comfortable but I am comfortable with loose sweatpants and soft t shirts or sweatshirts
👍
Great topic today! I live in a coastal beach town in Japan, so dress is casual, but few people are disrespectful in their dress here. I always bring a change of clothes to the gym if I am shopping after work out. Store employees here have strict rules on uniforms and grooming in most places. They must keep only black or dark brown hair and certainly no piercings or tattoos. So I strive to give them equal respect by putting on something appropriate. It takes so little effort. Thank you 😊❤
The amount of effort to look well put together is very small Sun Shine 😃👍
You look georgeous in the blue dress!!! Chic enough to go to dinner, and not embarrass Yourself or anyone in Your company- You really are the Queen of style!!!
Merci Minka 🤗
I actually thought she looked good in the hoodie and leggings combo too! You can get away with a lot if you’re tall and slim!
I used to be a competitive Runner and I never even ran an outfits like that, even when I was young❤
I wear a hoodie, leggings and t-shirt to the gym, pilates , zumba
I live on the Gold Coast Australia. This is soooooo common attire. Love you. Thanks for the laughs 😂
😘
I always say - would not be washing my windows wearing that!😂
😃
There is a really funny RUclips segment of the very handsome actor Colin Firth (everybody's Mr. Darcy) getting stuck in a window at his home wearing only his undershorts and a pair of slippers. A kind-hearted neighbor managed to rescue him but not until the rest of the neighbors had gotten an eyeful. I'd rather not have that happen to me!!
I love the ribbed heavy knit dress as an easy 'throw on'. Hard to find sometimes though.
😱 office wear! Oh My 🙁
Quality,no logo hoodies are essential quick, unobtrusive weather protection-- extended collar for cold+sun, here.
Standards have declined immeasurably.
The dress and shoes are so lovely 🥰
😘
