I love your videos! Would you please recommend travel shoes for long days of walking around cities? I don’t want to look frumpy and wear sneakers! I have all sorts of cute comfortable shoes, but these would still be very hard to walk for long durations while traveling as opposed to getting around town and work. Help!
That frumpy outfit is like a uniform for so many women over 60. Go to any shopping mall and they all look like that! It screams "I've given up and I just want to be comfortable" lol
In Australia I could not wear jeans in the summer, days are 35-40 degrees celsius. I would love to see you do chic styles for the really hot days. I loved the new outfit, beautiful update!
I have done several videos about staying cool in the heat Belle 😃 I wore linen trousers when I lived in Mexico in 45C heat and was cool and comfortable - as the summer comes on I will be doing more videos for summer styles 😘

Marie-Anne, I purchased “How to be Chic & Elegant” two weeks ago. After having lived a lifetime (70!) I really thought I had my style all figured out until I read your tips, tricks, and tweaks. Now I’m finally perfect! Lol!

The purple outfit was so funny, even Coco was wondering what was going on. You have a great sense of humour. The second outfit was really fabulous, thank you for sharing 🙂🩷
I HATE!!! bulky capri pants, baggy mom jeans, Birkenstocks, Crocs, all things synthetics, and coordinated tops and bottoms. Who says we have to dress old just cause we are older?
mom jeans are in with the younger kids. I wear what I want and what is comfortable. I don't care what others think. Most of the time I look better than the folks in mu-mus.
Bonjour Sharri 😃 lovely to see you here - would love to have you 😘 Keep up the great work with your Extraordinary Women channel - we need more extraordinary women 😘
I have no choice, I have to wear Birkenstocks but I usually buy the Mayari style. They do come in pretty colours. Regular shoes and sandals are too painful due to orthopaedic issues. I have to make the best of it. 🤷🏻♀️ Your clothes advice is trés bon.
Loved this!! Summer coming! Could you please help with a video on length of pants and shorts and bermudas for older ladies? I don’t go above the knee anymore, but trying for the not frumpy capris! You are SUCH a big help and your clothes are so “everyday!” ❤
Although I wouldn't personally buy that purple-pink-orange blouse but I think matching it with a straight cut high waisted pair of jeans with the blouse tucked in would look great. Add a brown crossbody handbag with a gold buckle, pointy white or gold shoes, some pretty gold earrings and a chunky gold necklace. I think it will make good.
On point! Recently, i lost a lot of weight & so now tuck in tops. But for many years & for lots of us, that just doesn't feel like an option. Any alternatives? 😊

I agree with crop pants. I have some that are 7/8ths and don’t mind them. Saw my reflection the other day with my old crops and trainers on and thought I did look frumpy. They are very popular in Australia.
Hello Marie-Anne, thank you for the video. Could you please post the correct link for the blouse? You have posted the pair of trousers twice. Thank you, Martina
Wow Marie-Anne, looks so much better. I'm an ex Finn migrated to Australia over 30 years ago. In Finnish there is a word lumppu, which means rags or unstylish clothing. Went shopping with my son and he said:' Look at all these frumppu clothes, where are all the stylish ones? I had to laugh because even he has been listening to me long enough to know what frumpy is and making it a new word. Great video, nice and short to remind us French chic ladies never to be frumpy.❤❤
I laughed out loud at the Hobbit feet comment. 🙂 This was a nice video and makes me think that one on 'how to do florals over 50' might also be very useful, Marianne. So many of us love florals and a bit of colour but it's easy to end up looking like a sofa.
I like that floral and think it goes well with Marie's coloring. But I agree about the fit of the blouse. I really don't care if one element of my outfit is passe so long as the fit and color are good. I also wear vintage jackets from the 40s, 50s and 60s. With modern items. Its my style. I've learned a lot from Marie but my style is quirkier
I have consistently refused to buy or wear cropped pants ever since they came out. I don't understand why they are such a fashion "thing". They simply don't look good on most women.
I'm just over 60 and I have never bought cropped trousers or those types of sandals . I can't understand why women want to wear these. I don't think they look good on anyone .
At 5'10" cropped, capris, or ankle pants just make me feel, and look, like I couldn't find proper fitting pants which had been an issue my whole life. The clothing shown here, with a few exceptions, is nothing I would wear. LLBean or Eddie Bauer for pants because they have long lengths, JCP for inexpensive T's, Keen for spring, summer, early fall. I spent way too much if my life shopping for clothes and shoes that fit...pants, shirts, and shoes all too short.
At 5’1”, I avoid cropped pants. I’m short with a 28” inseam. Cropped pants do me no favors, ha-ha. My French ancestors would be spinning in their graves if I wore cropped pants. 🤣
I agree with some of the other commenters. Would love some direction on what to wear during the summer months. No shorts above the knees, and no dresses/skirts. I don't want to look frumpy, but jeans are too warm, and full length pants look odd paired with summer shoes. Thanks for helping us reassess what outfits we reach for without thinking!
Brilliantly presented very watchable and great content , thank you Marie Anne , although I am not entirely agree regarding Birkenstocks may be they are very casual but extremely extremely practical we can bear all sorts of discomfort for a sake of beauty but we should be able to walk
Keds are trendy now. Christy Turlington is in their new campaign. I have about five pairs now in different colors and I switch out the laces for color accents
I absolutely loved this video Marie-Anne. Excellent, practical advice and so many laughs!!!!! My pet hate has always been ugly shoes. There are so many gorgeous, comfortable shoe styles available. Thank you from Australia.
In one video you showed a beautiful georgette silk blouse that I loved but can't find which video you mentioned. I will be in Paris in January and I would love to go to your friend's shop.
@@MarieAnneLecoeur Well, you never know. Please tell me, exactly where Adeline's shop is? We plan to celebrate our fiftieth anniversary in France next August. Not sure where. I love your channel. I am 73 and I am obsessed with fitness and my appearance more than ever. As an illustrator, I never paid much attention. A shame. I have discovered the world of clothing and how creative it is!! It delights me when my forty-something daughters are proud of and inspired by my appearance and fitness level and when my granddaughter in London says she wants to take me to school to show me to her class! Only difficulty remains shoes- oh dear. I am guilty of Berks! I have low arches and bunions. In my quest to build muscle mass, get trimmer and stronger, distance walking is part of my day, all day. I take stairs instead of elevators, detour into a nearby (sometimes muddy) ravine to my Pilates classes Heels are out of the question, ballet flats and loafers too. I am stuck with Sketchers. Too bad for me but they allow me to be as active as I am. I have tried Fit Flops and they work in summer. I am looking at Vivaia (sp?) ankle boots for winter. Any suggestions?
Bonjour Mary-Ann you can find her address on her website www.mareine.fr linked in the description of the video. My husband amongst other things illustrated children's books for a while! If you have bunions you need to watch my video out tonight at 8pm Paris time 2pm EST 👍 I did a few collabs with Vivaia and you can see the videos on my channel 😃 I also did a collab with Calla Shoes UK who do shoes for bunion sufferers
Hello Marie-Anne i don't often comment all your videos are so helpful I often wear jeans or cropped jeans Would like to wear skirts not sure what blouses or tops to suit the skirts for the summer Thanks Maria-Anne
The purple blouse is similar to something that I picked up without trying on. You are correct. It makes me look boxy and I must admit I did wear it with the same Birkenstocks. I don’t feel happy while wearing….it needs to go. Thank you.
What you said about "curtains" made me laugh - I say to myself whenever catching myself trying on paisley, other strange patterns and/or colours and those square shirts: Oh dear, look at you, trying to hide and look like a pillow on the sofa? 😅
Wonderful video, Marie-Anne. Love your humour and bursted laughing out loud at the mummy's creepy sound 😆. Merci for these amazing tips to transform an outfit from frumpy to fabulous 🙏🏻💕
I agree right up to the Birkenstocks. I have worn my Birkenstocks for 49+ years now. Never giving them up. Wore Birkenstocks before Birkenstocks were cool.
I love the after! I try to not buy too many things with patterns. I usually stick with pin stripes or small polkadots. I also always wear my pants long to the ankle or thigh high. Most of my clothes are textured rather than patterned. The purple outfit would be great turned into a scrap quilt!
Your advice is doing wonders for my wardrobe. I watch many channels, but it's yours that has created positive change in my style and appearance. Many thanks.
I laughed out loud through the whole thing. I hear “if it’s not a wow….” In my head every time I look at something. l made a few mistakes with fabric (not holding shape) but my pared down wardrobe is now finished. I need a few belts, a few scarves and an orange pair of flats and it will be rounded out. I found my eye for fashion and quality again after many years of ignoring it. So much fun! Thanks M.A.
I've just found you on youTube and I absolutely love you and your style. As a woman in my 60's, I am overwhelmed by fashion choices and you make ity so easy. Than you xx
Bonjour, Marie-Anne, and thank you for another wonderful video. You inspired me to buy white jeans last summer, and I love them. I see the frumpy looks every day that match the purple cropped pants and loud print. Most of the footwear is neon Crocs to go with them. Not a good idea! I would like to see the small print blouse, but the link goes to the trousers instead. Hugs and love to Coco, the ultimate accessory!
This specific video, I feel like this is good advice for everyone. I like red and purple together but I can see you at you when he’s out about the blouse cuffs, also, adding in accessories like jewelry necklaces, Bengals, a bracelet for four
I’ve learned a lot and this is only the second video that I’ve seen a few. I am very short as I told you I’m 73 I do not have breast. I had breast cancer and I didn’t have chance to get implants so I have to wear a fake bra sometimes I don’t want to wear one. I have a problem with shoes also cause I have a bunion so keep on sending these please
Thank you for another wonderful video. I do have a pair of those hobbit shoes, but I only wear them for gardening. However I don’t own any trousers. I wear dresses and sometimes skirts. Do you have a video for day dresses?
Bonjour Marie- anne. That was an excellent teaching aid, good straightforward advice, and what a difference!!! Like many others I have dumped my crops and flowery trousers, and tops that are wrong for my rectangular shape!! Thank you - oh and I will remember to wear a smile when I go out!!!

At 5’1”, I avoid cropped pants. I’m short with a 28” inseam. Cropped pants do me no favors, ha-ha. My French ancestors would be spinning in their graves if I wore cropped pants. 🤣
Another great video❤ Thank you Marie-Anne❤
Glad you enjoyed it Linda x
Love the humor. Thank you for another great style video.
😘
😂😂😂 I love your fashion advice and sense of humor! You have THE best channel! Thank you!
That is very kind of you Paula - merci 🤗
Great suggestions, thank you!!❤
😘
Great video, positive, funny, and Coco !!!
🐾
So much better, Marie-Anne. I'm only sticking to stripes or subtle plaids for wearing patterns.
👍
I enjoy this video greatly!
Super funny too!
😃
I agree with some of the other commenters. Would love some direction on what to wear during the summer months. No shorts above the knees, and no dresses/skirts. I don't want to look frumpy, but jeans are too warm, and full length pants look odd paired with summer shoes. Thanks for helping us reassess what outfits we reach for without thinking!
Summer is coming Carrie 😃 in the interim there are all my summer videos from previous years 😃
Brilliantly presented very watchable and great content , thank you Marie Anne , although I am not entirely agree regarding Birkenstocks may be they are very casual but extremely extremely practical we can bear all sorts of discomfort for a sake of beauty but we should be able to walk
Keds are trendy now. Christy Turlington is in their new campaign. I have about five pairs now in different colors and I switch out the laces for color accents
But there are soooo many comfortable and stylish options 😃
Do you have the link for the bluse? You have j crew jeans twice
whoops 🙁
Oh Marie-Anne - honestly you are so funny😂- you always make me laugh out loud- I just love your personality so much x
😃😘
I absolutely loved this video Marie-Anne. Excellent, practical advice and so many laughs!!!!! My pet hate has always been ugly shoes. There are so many gorgeous, comfortable shoe styles available. Thank you from Australia.
I agree Cat 😃👍 life is too short to wear ugly shoes 👍
Thanks much this was fun and I learned some things about appropriate ways to defrump.
😃👍
Brilliant! Thank you so much!❤
In one video you showed a beautiful georgette silk blouse that I loved but can't find which video you mentioned. I will be in Paris in January and I would love to go to your friend's shop.
St Lo is quite a distance from Paris Mary Ann but if you can get there Adeline would love to see you 😃
@@MarieAnneLecoeur Well, you never know.
I take stairs instead of elevators, detour into a nearby (sometimes muddy) ravine to my Pilates classes
Heels are out of the question, ballet flats and loafers too.
Hello Marie-Anne i don't often comment all your videos are so helpful I often wear jeans or cropped jeans
Would like to wear skirts not sure what blouses or tops to suit the skirts for the summer
Thanks Maria-Anne
I will see what I can do Biba 😘
@MarieAnneLecoeur Thank you Maria-Anne
The purple blouse is similar to something that I picked up without trying on. You are correct. It makes me look boxy and I must admit I did wear it with the same Birkenstocks. I don’t feel happy while wearing….it needs to go. Thank you.
You are very welcome 😘
Great video! I love how you always suggest stylish footwear that is also comfortable 😍
🤗
You are cracking me up! Thank you for the video!
😘
Great advice. I am so thrilled because I have a blouse like the better one. You are so perfect with your advice. Love it.x
😘
What you said about "curtains" made me laugh - I say to myself whenever catching myself trying on paisley, other strange patterns and/or colours and those square shirts: Oh dear, look at you, trying to hide and look like a pillow on the sofa? 😅
😃👍
The pillow bit made me laugh! Good point!
Wonderful video, Marie-Anne. Love your humour and bursted laughing out loud at the mummy's creepy sound 😆. Merci for these amazing tips to transform an outfit from frumpy to fabulous 🙏🏻💕
Merci AW 🤗
Great video Marie Ann you inspire me xx
🤗
I agree right up to the Birkenstocks. I have worn my Birkenstocks for 49+ years now. Never giving them up.
Wore Birkenstocks before Birkenstocks were cool.
I didn’t know about them until recently. They look comfortable, but they’re so ugly!
@nomado3650 Pretty is as Pretty does! 😍
But I am a 75 year old hippie from Southern California sooooo 🤷♀️
I love the after! I try to not buy too many things with patterns. I usually stick with pin stripes or small polkadots. I also always wear my pants long to the ankle or thigh high. Most of my clothes are textured rather than patterned. The purple outfit would be great turned into a scrap quilt!
If you want to quilt these I still have them Nia Marie 😉
thankyou Marie Anne indeed you looked different and fabulous and your explanations were so spot on and easy to see your point
🤗
Merci beaucoup ❤
Your advice is doing wonders for my wardrobe. I watch many channels, but it's yours that has created positive change in my style and appearance. Many thanks.
I'm so glad it has helped 😃
I laughed out loud through the whole thing. I hear “if it’s not a wow….” In my head every time I look at something. l made a few mistakes with fabric (not holding shape) but my pared down wardrobe is now finished. I need a few belts, a few scarves and an orange pair of flats and it will be rounded out. I found my eye for fashion and quality again after many years of ignoring it. So much fun! Thanks M.A.
That is wonderful 😃 👏
Marie, I love when you model the 'frumpy' purple outfit, while holding your cute dog as an accessory! ; )
🐾💜
You are Hillarious but so on the money. !!!! ❤😂
🤗
I've just found you on youTube and I absolutely love you and your style. As a woman in my 60's, I am overwhelmed by fashion choices and you make ity so easy. Than you xx
Bonjour Michele and a Big French Chic Welcome to you 🤗
hilarious outfit!!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhh.
First time looking at your site and I loved it. Thank you for your chic ideas.
You are very welcome Kirst 🤗
Helpful as always. Thank you, Marie-Anne 😊
🤗
What purse would you wear with your outfit? I love the changes you made. Thank you
I was carrying a purse in the last outfit clip Jennifer
“Nothing really can save the outfit…” you are very funny and wise 😂❤️!
😃😘
Excellent advice and so amusing, which will help me to remember it! Thank you!
I think the fun gets the point over much better Angel 😃
Love your videos and your humor 😀 and Coco, the frump inspector 🥰😂🫶🏼🐶
🐾
I would love you as my personal dresser. Thx so much for such priceless advice. You have so many helpful suggestions.
I am glad you find my channel useful Anna 😘
Great advice, thank you Marie Anne. ❤
😘
I just bought a pair of white wide leg jeans to play with for spring and summer. I love how they go with everything!
🤍 I have done videos on that Kristina ruclips.net/video/afKSYksE5Ow/видео.html and here ruclips.net/video/YBvk5IQtdiM/видео.html 😘
I totally agree. Hello from Argentina 🇦🇷
This was an excellent video and entertaining! I love the French language you are adding to your videos!!
Glad you enjoy it Laura 😘
Bonjour, Marie-Anne, and thank you for another wonderful video. You inspired me to buy white jeans last summer, and I love them. I see the frumpy looks every day that match the purple cropped pants and loud print. Most of the footwear is neon Crocs to go with them. Not a good idea! I would like to see the small print blouse, but the link goes to the trousers instead. Hugs and love to Coco, the ultimate accessory!
So happy you were inspired Susan 😃
This specific video, I feel like this is good advice for everyone. I like red and purple together but I can see you at you when he’s out about the blouse cuffs, also, adding in accessories like jewelry necklaces, Bengals, a bracelet for four
Glad you enjoyed it Jody 😘
I’ve learned a lot and this is only the second video that I’ve seen a few. I am very short as I told you I’m 73 I do not have breast. I had breast cancer and I didn’t have chance to get implants so I have to wear a fake bra sometimes I don’t want to wear one. I have a problem with shoes also cause I have a bunion so keep on sending these please
🙏 I am sorry to hear of your situation Cecilia but I hope you have been given the all clear 🙏
Thank you for another wonderful video.
I do have a pair of those hobbit shoes, but I only wear them for gardening.
However I don’t own any trousers. I wear dresses and sometimes skirts. Do you have a video for day dresses?
I have a number of videos on dresses 😃 you can Google 'Marie-Anne Lecoeur Dresses' or just search for 'dresses' on my channel page
Love the video, excellent advice. Like you, I am not a fan of Birkenstocks clunky sandals
You are a lady after my own heart Laura 🤗
Bonjour Marie- anne. That was an excellent teaching aid, good straightforward advice, and what a difference!!! Like many others I have dumped my crops and flowery trousers, and tops that are wrong for my rectangular shape!! Thank you - oh and I will remember to wear a smile when I go out!!!
Yayyyy 🙌
Great video! You sure got my attention in that purple outfit 😂
😃
